Food is not next level great. Service is great. Alcohol selection was good. We ordered fish and chips which were soggy. Fish was stale. Oyster was decent but expensive. Monday special pasta - way over cooked. Not al dente.

My wife and I had a wonderful dining experience at the Rose and Crown restaurant in Guildford. The atmosphere was cosy and charming, with two open fires and a lovely garden setting. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious and generous. The prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great pub meal in a historic setting.

Second time I’ve been here. Food is next level great. Don’t go past the Arancini balls, steak sandwich and beef Guinness pie. In fact the chef takes enormous pride in what he serves so I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say anything you choose on the menu is gonna taste pretty damn good. Awesome friendly service with a few great ghost stories chucked in. Yes it really is haunted by ghosts! The historic nature of this place being the oldest inn in Western Australia makes it pretty cool ( make sure to check out the old cellar). Definitely worth stopping by if you’re ever in Perth.

Been awhile since we have been to the Rose n Crown have always enjoyed the meals and celebrated my 50th there. Tonight we were waited on by Rachel, a very welcoming and lovely young lady. All the staff were very helpful and the meals as always were delicious and if you haven't tried the Dirty Potatoes yet, then do yourself a favour. Thanks for a lovely evening

Hotel room was good value for money and late check in was easy. Overall the Staff were very helpful as well. Second time being at a function at the Pub venue and it was good. Food was great. Breakfast the next day (Sundays only) was really great as well - good value for money with the Avocado Bruschetta - had to get extra toast for $2 because there was so much topping! Delicious. Checked out the historical cellar as well. Vegetarian options available.

Stopped for a quick pint with our hosts Will at. I sting the area from the UK. So glad to have spent some time in the oldest pub in WA. Good selection of beers, lagers and ciders. Sunday roast with all the trimmings for $34

Book our table for 7, for 6.30pm Sat evening via website, effortless. Buzzing yet chilled out ambience in the outside courtyard dinning area. Our waitress could not be kinder and efficient. Food was delicious. We will be back.

We had Eye Fillet, med/rare with gallette potatoes, charred broccolini and mushroom sauce and Seafood Chowder respectively. Cooked to perfection. Great service too. We would definitely come back.

We hired the Rose and Crown for our wedding reception and we were absolutely blown away. The space was idyllic and felt so private, the food was exceptional and the staff were so, so lovely - we could not be more grateful to them. Emma the events manager was just fantastic and could not have been more accommodating- we can’t thank her, and the rest of the staff enough for all of their hard work and for making our special day so memorable and stress free. Our only wish was that we could do it all over again! If you’re looking for a reception venue this is one of a kind, you’ll be exceptionally looked after in a beautiful historic location.

An excellent stop for a lunch over the weekend. Booking is essential though. The lit fireplaces in rooms were amazing. The food was really good and the service not too bad. I have been unlucky in my choice of desert as my cheesecake was not fresh. The building is very beautiful and the rooms are great.

We had a wonderful evening celebrating my mums birthday. The service & food were excellent! A slight hiccup with the order but it was rectified immediately and we continued to have a wonderful evening. Great ambiance in a beautiful setting. Highly recommend this stunning venue.

Great ambience and a perfect place for small events or just a drink and a Meal. Function staff is very accommodating and you can rest assured they will take care of everything. Service is fabulous and very attentive. The food for our function tasted amazing and all of the guests also commented on how good the food was. The fire pit is a perfect place to end the evening and the entertainment was perfect as background music. Thanks to all the Team at Rose & Crown it was the easiest function I've ever organised !

Had been waiting for the right time to have the English roast beef. We went today, after reading the reviews. Unfortunately it was rare and not pleasant. Got second roast beef and it also wasn’t great and very fatty!! The spring roses are yummy. I can say the staff are amazing and great vibe in an old style pub. Sorry it’s a thumbs down for me

Guildford is picturesque and leafy little town and The Rose and Crown is a perfect fit with a laid back front bar option with several beers on tap and a great food selection. If you want a little more variety then 'The Garden' will provide more food options and a fantastic outdoor area to relax and listen to some tunes whilst enjoying a great feed. We visited on a Saturday and were worried that it would be too busy. We needn't have been concerned, the service was excellent and food arrived relatively quickly even though several functions were being held during this time. We look forward to a return visit next time we're in W.A.

Sunday Lunch at the Rose & Crown, a great venue with great staff. Unfortunately the Pork, in my Pork Roast was was literally 80% fat and inedible, meaning I ended up with basically a Vegetable Roast. Would have given 5 stars if the meat had been there! However busy you are, at least check what you're serving guys, it's your reputation on the line!

I didn’t have high expectations walking in here as stopped by for a quick meal without doing any research, was literally blown out of the water. Ordered the steak and it was probably the most delicious steak / meal I’ve had in a long time at a pub. The food here is considered and refined. Would highly recommend stopping by to try it out. Table service was also exceptional and given it was a busy day they were fantastic. Will definitely come back!

I've been here quite a few times over the years & it's a nice pub to have a drink, but the food has never been it's strong point. A group of us were there last night, 2 returned their pasta of the day dishes as it was flavour less & nothing was fresh. And being a seafood dish, when it's not fresh, it really stands out, and the pasta was way overcooked. To their credit they didn't charge for them. The fish & chips tasted so fishy, it definitely wasn't fresh fish either, and that really overpowered everything. The smoked parmigiana was just, weird. I don't know who thinks it's a good idea, but it was not only overcooked to a darkish brown, it just didn't taste good. And let's face it, the prices here aren't exactly reasonable so it's even more disappointing whenever we eat there. All in all, I never expect to get a great meal here, I've had some decent ones, but it's still a favourite hangout for a drink when we're in that area. Just go eat somewhere else if you can. Edit* In response to the restaurants comments, I have no idea what all those awards have to do with my experiences there, or why moving us inside was so hard when the place was half empty, and how does it affect the food anyway? My criticism wasn't unfair or malicious, it's just the experience we had. I'm not making any of this up and I did say what was positive about the place, but in my experience the kitchen is not one of them.

Well what can I say but we WILL be back. Better late than never leaving a review. Booked a table for 7 of us for my birthday 2 April. Read some reviews and thought why not. What I can say is, all negative reviews, I think you all are just unreasonable and will find fault no matter where you go. Rose and Crown food, service and staff exceptional. Best Sunday roast ever and the kids loved their food! Staff very friendly and service amazing! Thank you for making my special day a day we will remember. Thank you to every single person there, compliments to the Chef as well! Keep on doing what you doing, its working!!!!!

Beautifully restored old hotel so much history. We had a small dining room for 15 family members to ourselves with a real wood fire. Service was excellent and everyone was very satisfied with their meals. That doesn't often happen!

I live in brisbane but went for lunch there with my mum and niece.. service was impeccable, best service at a restaurant I’ve had in many years. I made sure to tip the waiter.. food was beyond expectations and bang on for flavour and portion size… thoroughly recommend the sticky date pudding, it’s to die for… booked to go back mid September for a celebration… well done to management and staff..

Lovely historic spot. Fast, Friendly Service & our waitress was fantastic. Despite being packed the bar service was also really quick. Tia Maria cheesecake was so good! Steak sandwich was huge, garden pastie was a little disappointing, but the salad with it was great. Overall everyone really enjoyed our group lunch. Parkings a bit of a nightmare on weekend but thats not the establishments fault.

Place is beautiful as always however, service was terrible. My family and I always enjoy going here and have done several times. Last night however, service was dismal at best. We had booked for three weeks in advance for the garden. When we arrived, we were told the garden was closed off and we would have to sit in the beer garden or inside for formal dining with no explanation as to why it was closed. We ordered our drinks and using the QR code, ordered a Turkish bread and dip entree to which the app told us it would be a 30 min wait time. I was okay with this since we were sitting around drinking. 45 min came around and no entree, bear in mind this is 6 pieces of bread and two dips (unlike the image online). When I went up to ask, a bar man was sarcastic to me but finally brought it. We had also ordered our mains whilst waiting for the entree predicting how long it was going to take to arrive to us. We ordered pizzas and a steak sandwich. The steak sandwich came and our family member had to eat alone whilst we watched her. Asking why we didn’t get the pizzas ; they informed us that they can’t line up the two restaurants at the same time and told us that this was written on the menu. Yes, it was in tiny writing. Had our family member knew that they’d get, eat, and finish their meal prior to everyone getting theirs, they would have ordered something else. The food was luckily, very nice. Then, we ordered desserts to which the menu did not line up with what they actually had in the kitchen or on their register. Simple things that we asked for like having one of our cakes in a takeaway box was brought out on a plate. I was really shocked by lack of hospitality and service. One server did apologise however, a whole series of events just led to a poorly celebrated evening. Do better with your servers and staff!

Have been here many times but last night was really disappointing. They were supposedly open till 10pm but they make us feel unwelcome from about 8.30pm. The manager kept coming up with reasons to come back to the table to snatch something off it. It wasn't very busy which is PERFECT opportunity to give extra great customer service but it was quite the opposite. Very disspoting experience as I recommended here for dinner and my friend was quite taken aback by the service. Also food wasn't it's usual standards.

Have been to the restaurant many times and is usually a great experience. The Wood Smoked Chicken Parmi is next level and a standout Rose & Crown dish for me and all friends and family I've recommended it to. As long as that is on the menu I'll be back for more.

Dear owner in response to your reply below. I think you might have the wrong group? There was no offer to reset a table in the restaurant as there was no room. Had you approached our table to ask if everything was okay & how was the food, throughout our visit, you would have got an answer. Without making a scene we did discuss our issue with one of your staff members. Good customer service comes from within & is lead by example. Wednesday evening the 17th, as a Group of 12 we made a booking on arrival as wasn’t busy for us to eat in the restaurant area, told to go have a drink in the bar area then head over when ready. When we all arrived within an hour, we headed over to the restaurant area for dinner, we were told quite rudely ‘it’s too late we have given your table away’. We were then told we had been two hours in the bar area so she had given our table away! We were shocked not only at the manner in which she told us but she could have come over to our table in the bar area & told us! We then ordered by QR code at the table in the bar area, the food was so disappointing, steak sandwiches were tough & most bar food very average nothing to write home about. Lovely venue, shame about the rude staff member at the Rose & crown Guildford.

Dined for birthday dinner as a party of 10, and the service was outstanding. Nothing was too much, and the staff were eager to assist, accommodate, and make the experience a great one. Vibe was great and not too loud so could have a conversation. Highly recommend.

I have tried many a parmi, but this here is the only one in Perth I keep coming back for more, 5 hour slow cooked smoked chicken parmi with dirty potatoes! You will not regret this. Also lovely place to eat in the garden, service is always a bit hit and miss luckily the food makes up for it.

The Rose and Crown in Guildford is a great historic pub dating back to 1841. Eating out in the beer garden is a unique experience, especially after 5/6 days of 40 degrees. The cool breeze blowing last night was refressing. Four of us dined here last night and enjoyed each other's company, and the meals we had chosen. The Rose and Crown is a great place casual eating or celebrating a special function. Enjoy you visit to this iconic pub.

I personally love this place, there are so many dining and drink options available to you in the one place. A beautiful large garden under the trees, a lovely antique style dining room (intimate), a larger dining room with restaurant style or even a "hidden" cellar- with its own well! Definitely recommend checking this place out in my opinion it's a perfect balance of modern day dining and old world charm!

  • 5/5 Parisa M. 2 years ago on Google

Food is expensive, but really good and huge portions. Staff are awesome. They get ten stars. It's super hot in the beer garden though. A few big Bunnings fans and better shade would be fantastic.

Atmosphere, presentation, accommodation. 5 stars for sheer brilliance but with some gaps. The food looked 5 star but didn’t live up to it, so don’t get too adventurous. Re-think your chicken curry - introduce that bird to the sauce in advance and let them get to know each other.

Beautiful venue to sit outside at on a sunny Spring day. Very busy so ensure you make a reservation. Food was excellent, particularly the Sunday roast. Service was a little slow and it took a while for orders to be taken.

Absolutely loved the ambience and food. There were some good options for gluten free people. When we went it was a hot day, and the water mist jets really made it more bearable. I'd recommend this place for get togethers, work parties, and birthdays. Definitely a cut above the rest in terms of pub food.

Went to the Rose & Crown on a trip back to Perth to visit family/friends. We had booked a table & when placed outside we mentioned it was getting cool & we may need to move, if possible due to elderly guest arriving. Once they arrived, before food was ordered we asked to move inside. There were two other tables of guests the whole night, so didn’t seem to be an issue however they weren’t 100% keen to begin with. Unfortunately our seafood pasta dish was so bland & overcooked (it just looked very tired!) we had to say something. Reluctantly they took it. Only a few mouthfuls were taken- it was clear we couldn’t eat it. We had drinks and our other three guests ate. They too were not impressed with the fishy smelling food or the overbooked parmi. Anyway, we only had a few days left & it was just too hard to worry about with our elderly guests so we left it. Would I go there again? Yep…for a drink but definitely not a meal.

I really liked this pub. It had a nice outside space. My friend Phil took my brother Phil and l to see the pub which was built in 1841. Phil showed me all around the groundfloor and the cellers where the water well was.

Beautiful spot to sit outside for lunch. Menu could definitely be better. The cocktails are not worth your time or money. Has so much potential.. Staff lovely

Went with friends on 23rd December. Great old pub, we sat outside and it was very pleasant. The steak was cooked perfectly, had cheese and port afterwards which finished the evening well.

Staff kept using the disabled toilet, and were not inclusive, they also did not understand their obligation to the customers. Unfortunately I won't be coming back given the lack of maturity within the staff controlling the facility. Pity as other years have been exceptionally good.

Super friendly staff, location is very beautiful and rustic, rooms were clean and as shown in images. Room service was quick and restaurant staff were nice and attentive. Pool was clean and quiet. Overall a nice experience, no complaints:) There is also a cute cafe right across the road, great for the days when the restaurant doesn’t serve breakfast (restaurant open for lunch-dinner daily, breakfast on sundays) Train station close by 👍

Had a family Christmas dinner at the rose & crown.. for a hot day it was very comfortable sitting outside.. the staff were very friendly, polite and professional.. the young lady that took our order was amazing.. food came out in a timely manner and was 100% delicious.. after our dinner we went for a walk down to the cellar and had a look at some of the history.. I would highly recommend the rose & crown.. very impressed.. thank you rose & crown..

After many many years of frequenting the Rose and Crown Hotel & Restaurant we went last night and was very disappointed in the selection and quality of food off your current summer menu. After visiting the prior week for lunch in your beer garden area, we decided to book the outdoor restaurant area thinking the menu there would have a better selection of food, but apart from just a couple of items the menu was just the same!!! Also the lack of table service was disappointing leading to us have to collect water for our table and going to the bar to buy our drinks. For such an iconic hotel in the Guildford area…lift your game Rose and Crown or you will have fewer customers returning!

Me and my partner went here for lunch and it was genuinely the nicest experience. The staff and the service alone deserves 5 stars. All the staff is super genuine and friendly. They were lovely and bubbly and even offered to take pictures for me and my partner. We both got the sirloin steak with the red wine jus and it was fantastic! It was a really nice and tender cut of steak and was seasoned and cooked to perfection! We sat outside in the al a cart section and it was so beautiful. Exceptional decor and you’re surrounded by lovely trees and bamboo sprouts. Definitely recommend checking this place out, it’s perfect!

👍 First time visited this place last Sunday night, overall the environment and the staffs are very nice and friendly. My partner and I shared a spaghetti marinara, Contadina pizza, and a pork ribs. The meat on the pork ribs falling apart and well seasoned, the pizza was great with a lovely pizza base...
