I had this hostel booked 3 weeks in advance. Hostelworld emailed me 24 hours prior to my arrival date stating that I had cancellation the booking and to ring the hostel if I had any queries. I rang up the hostel and explained that I had not cancel the booking and stated this was an error. The receptionist (Mark) said straight away that this was a booking error done by hostelworld. He did not check up my booking or even ask for my name. When I tried to resolve the booking and ask about my deposit he hung up the phone. I have been travelling for a year and a half and understand the pressures hostel workers face but this was the rudest encounter I have faced. This was made worse that it was cancelled 24 hours before my booking when I booked it 3 weeks in advanced because all other hostels were now booked out and the only accommodation available was expensive. Do not book this hostel.

I had an awful experience at this hostel. I booked two weeks in advance and on the day of arrival was told there was no beds for me. I had to seek other accommodation until I could get a bed the next day. Then the First night stay I woke up with multiple insect bites as they leave windows open with no fly nets at night. Rooms are not clean at all and the air conditioning was barely working. I had to leave because when I arrived back on my second day there was a cat in my bed. Had difficulty with getting a refund with owner as I had paid for a full week and could not stay there any longer. Could only pay in cash on arrival and the owner was not pleasant at all. I read reviews before choosing this hostel and now know most of them are fake. Also it is way over priced compared to nicer hostels in Perth City. Would not recommend.

Booked for the weekend and the day i was supposed to check in they sent a text message saying a current guest extended so my reservation was cancelled.

I wouldn’t recommend staying at this hostel. Considering the price I wasn’t expecting much but there’s a certain standard that every hostel should meet. I felt this one didn’t. I couldn’t sleep at all most nights due to the bed making me itch uncontrollably. The sheets hadn’t been properly washed and still had hairs on them from previous people who stayed! I was kept up at night by the sound of scuttering around the room and around my bed! there was a rodent infestation of some kind in the walls. I think they could get into the bedroom also. The air con didn’t properly work & the rooms were overcrowded which made it an incredibly uncomfortable place to try and sleep. On top of all this most of the people there were unfriendly and hostile. Showed very little interest in making me feel welcome, felt more like an outcast. When I tried to engage with most people I got rude, short responses, with no development in conversation, most of them would rather stare at there phone screens. I thought hostels were about being social and getting to know other travelers?!?! Don’t get me wrong I did get on with some people who were older and a bit more mature but most of the young travelers were generally unfriendly. I decided to leave after my third night of what was meant to be a weeks stay, still trying to get a refund on the nights I didn’t stay, but I doubt I will. In conclusion, don’t stay here, find a better hostel or air BnB.

Did not honour booking made via Hostelworld. Extremely poor and avoid at all costs.

Avoid, owner doesn't honour bookings. He will extend other people's bookings on the day of your check-in and try to make you stay at his own apartment when you have no other choice.

Not enough rubbish bins but manager ( mark) puts across road at units .....but gets very upset if caught haha

Booked over HostelWorld a week before and on the night on our way we got told there was an error and no spot for us. The owner didn't care that we had no place to go to for the night and we didn't even got the money back from the Hostelworld deposit. poor management

I absolutely loved staying at WBL. The big share house feels like home away from home. I planned to stay for one night and stayed for over ten weeks! I made some awesome friends at the hostel. It's clean. The courtyard and hammocks out the bag are like a little oasis. The location is amazing. AND the hostel owner is a ledgend!

Stay way clear of this place. Personally know cleanliness etc. Narcissistic owner Mark is only keeping lodge open for $ as property been sold. Place soon to be closed.

For my first location in Australia i have never felt safer, this hostel has became my home away from home from booking 2 weeks to stay I ended up living there for the majority of my year away, I have made friends for life in WBL and can honestly say the owner of the hostel will always look out for you and help you when needed! Needless to say I love this place

Definitely the best place to stay in Perth! A wonderful Oasis in the WA desert right next to a bus station, supermarkets and the best - the beautiful Scarborough beach. Enjoy guitar sessions beside drinks and Netflix movie evenings with your hostel mates. Thanks to David, it's always clean too. 😁 10 out of 10.

Bestest backpacker accom in Perth

Owner is a really nice guy nice rooms good rates near amenities ie petrol food gym 5min from beach only negative thing is long termers make you uncomfortable..if Aussie even more...but overall very good! 5 stars for manager 4 for clean environment it's cleaned everyday

great place to stay air cond was realey cold and we loved it there.

Small hostel with squeaky beds. It feels cramped when it’s full. And, depending on what you look like, Mark can be a very unpleasant man.

The most welcoming and friendly hostel I been to. Atmosphere and the house itself is a real home just 5 minutes from the beach. Papa, the owner makes sure that everyone gets a job. If you want to stay for a while and live close to Perh this is the place. Lots of longstayers here that wont leave because of the awesome vibe! Enjoy!

I arrived here as a backbacker 6 years ago, and had a perfect start for my travel year. All people were nice and Mark is a really good owner and helps a lot! Beach only 5 min away so everything 5 stars!
