Band was great but felt like I was in school and not allowed to talk. Our table got told to keep the noise down!!! We were enjoying a Friday night out with friends while listening to some great jazz music. Won’t be back to this pretentious club!!

Excellent venue and best Manhattans in Perth. Great mix of music gigs are always classy and sound good even if it's not your thing. The staff are very friendly and professional.

The Ellington is a nice venue however I believe it was grossly overcrowded and unsafe on our night there recently. There were far too many people allowed in to see a live performance, the bar area was four people deep to get a drink, and you cannot get out the front door for fresh air as it's jam packed. The owners need to review their safety policy as to how many patrons are allowed in their venue at any one time.

It was amazing in Perth.. I've been here in Perth for 11months. Why haven't I found this place in the meantime? Thanks Julie? (I don't know if my memory is correct) you reminds me 'Shakatak'. I highly recommend you guys who reads my review this. 'Skakatak - Giving up'

Went last night for some Italian Jazz and the performance was wonderful, service great, plus very convenient qr codes to save queuing. The only down side, is the food. The grilled halloumi nice but the sloppy pizza is consistently a disappointment. The base and crust aren't terribly nice and the tipping is always scarce. Go for the drinks and the show, don't bother with the food.

Great venue. Great jazz group Thursday night. Randomly come across it. Off the main strip. Would definitely go again. There is a cover charge. Normally booked out so can’t get in. Very good music

We went and saw Simone Craddock and the boys and it was a lovely evening. Because it started later than planned, we left early as it was a week night. the bartenders were attentive and made excellent cocktails, the wine selection is good and the food was yummy but we would have liked a few more substantial opinions besides pizza

My experience seemed mix as we went for a Fringe show. We booked our tickets quite well in advance and were second in line however were tucked 4 rows back and against the wall with poor visibility on a visual performance. While people getting door tickets were getting front row seats. The speakers sound like they need an upgrade, producing boomy excessive bass. I guess this place makes more sense as jazz club rather than for anything visual. Cocktails are just generic wouldn't waste my money on then. Far better can be bought all around Perth.

Held my 40th in the upstairs section of the venue, can not speak highly enough of the experience and night. Booking was handled quickly and easily, there was plenty of options from the menu and it was all delivered seamlessly. The staff were very friendly and looked after everyone for the entire night Also had the option of having the music from the bar downstairs playing through which definitely added to the whole atmosphere

Great atmosphere and awesome pizza, even patrons were friendly inside, although just a bit tight and will have to go in early to snag yourself a seat by the bar.

Really amazing night! The first half I enjoyed it a lot! They preformed so well and the music was so enjoyable. However I have to give it 3/5 cause the second half of the night people started standing at the front and all I saw were butts in my face. Little upset about it cause it felt as though I paid $20 to have butts at my face. Still could enjoy the music but wished there was some sort of crowd control or just a better layout so everyone can enjoy the performance with minimal interruption because it felt a bit unfair that my friend and I came early to grab a seat and couldnt enjoy the night properly.

We absolutely loved using The Ellington Jazz Club’s function room upstairs to host a birthday party. Our guests really enjoyed the space and listening to the live music from downstairs. Several guests commented on how delicious the pizzas were. Staff were excellent and helped to make it a smooth and memorable night.

This place is a must visit! The staff were lovely and the atmosphere is so cool and laid back. It’s very intimate with a dark moody lighting feel. The food was delightfully good, the cheese pizza was so delicious and the drinks are well priced. We came to watch a music gig and I loved every minute of it. I would visit again without a doubt

The main attraction of the function room at The Ellington is to enjoy the show, so it was really disappointing that the staff couldn't get the AV system working. We didn't get to see or hear the band that was playing apart from some muffled bass coming from downstairs. We kept asking when they'll have it working, they would answer "soon" but then just ignored us when we asked for updates. During the intermission I went downstairs to find the manager who admitted it hadn't been working for a few months. Basically I was mislead in order to secure a booking so they wouldn't lose a sale. We had pre-ordered food which came out late. Extra food that we ordered was arriving sooner so I think they had actually forgotten about it. The serving sizes were pitiful for the amount paid. There's a good range of cocktails on the menu but many were not available as they didn't have the ingredients to make them. The soft drinks were flat and warm. I asked the manager if they could compensate us by discounting the bill but she was dismissive of my complaint and wouldn't even give this small gesture of good-will. I'm astounded that a music venue can't get an AV system working or even restock the bar. It's so disappointing to see this once wonderful club ruined by such poor management. I've been a regular patron of The Ellington for many years but after this experience I won't be going back.

Lovely night there watching Brazilian bossa nova. Quite a small place and you have to share the table with strangers, but beside that, great sound and night overall!

Great night celebrating and listening to Lucy, Daisy & Band on Tuesday 30th November. Great gig, good tunes, fabulous vibes! Lucy singing Amazing Grace was soulful, genuine and real! As a suggestion gluten free food on the menu was our only concern! The cocktails were terrific! A fabulous night!!

Came for the fringe show last time and found the club cozy and lovely. Beer was alright and all the staff were were nice as well. Although the sound were not so satisfying since this was the second time in a row for me to watch Frankie’s show then the singer’s voice sounded less good and clearer than it did at other place.

Super cute venue and I loved the vibe there but it is a bit too cramped and cosy so keep that in mind if you like your personal space! The music was wonderful, the bar staff and selections were great, and the food (while not full meals) was really nice too - we had the cheese platter and a pizza, both would recommend.

Fantastic venue. Very cosy and intimate. We saw a Burlesque show there as part of Perth’s Fringe Festival. Great venue for this type of show as well as any jazz or intimate music show. The bar staff were very friendly and looked after everything we required.

Great place to go for a more "classy" night out then the usual Northbridge places that open late. I recommended their soul / RnB nights. Its small and gets busy so better to book a ticket in advanced - great vibe, staff and cocktails 10/10 - Perth needs more places like this!!

Had a fantastic time at the club on a Sunday night (the very best of soul). The manager looked after us, and had excellent hospitality. Honestly, if you want a great night out, I highly recommend the Ellington Jazz Club. Cheers for the great night. 👍

This is a good place for the somewhat different music, not only but a lot of jazz. I can't give 5 stars though as the place has a strange layout that is annoying for everyone who hasn't scored a seat. Not too long ago the place was closed for renovation, but the annoyance wasn't tackled: The drinks bar is opposite of the kitchen next to the entrance but doesn't have water access. That means that for every glass to be washed a waiter squeezes through the crowd with a load of dirty or freshly washed glasses. Annoying and distracting. Nevertheless 4 stars for the kind of music they host.

The club is small. Crowded to hear the band playing the night I attended. I thought the acoustics very good, the mix excellent, the band average. At least I'd heard none of the songs before. In the 60s and 70s someone would drop some acid into their drinks.

Like a small intimate New York Jazz Club, this is a gem. Small venue with cosy atmosphere. Good selection of entertainers . Serving tasty snacks and excellent range of drinks. Looking to be close to the performs and not lost in the crowds then Ellington's hits the mark.🥇🥂

This place has a vibe, and it's old school. But does that mean we can't have the creature comforts of modern day life? I went upstairs to use the male toilets and the place was an oven, I had to open all the windows as the staff had left them closed all day during a 38° day Maybe install some air con? And the seats are really uncomfortable, and for a place that looks down on people getting off their seat to dance, they should improve the comfort of the seats. Apart from that it's a cool venue, really laid back but with a serious vibe, which is fun. Sound is amazing, props to the crew behind the equipment. Great venue, just needs some tweaks when it's a hot day.

The artists and musicians are incredibly talented. The events are definitely worth your time and money. The table and bar service is super friendly and accommodating. I didn’t give it 5 stars because of the place is looking run down, and every year more so it makes me sad.

I am here at the jazz club Sat 22 April for the Brazilian samba night. Got here 12.40am and there was a person leaving. I offered to pay the full ticket price of $20 but the Asian lady at the door refused and said no. I was happy to support the musicians even though less than 30 mins left. The doorman was lovely - he went to ask the Asian lady manager who told him no. Even while I was waiting for 15 mins another 10 people left. Doesn’t make sense at all. Anyway from the outside the musicians looked great Edit: owner replied saying that it was due to people upstairs leaving vs downstairs and this was explained First - not true on her talking to me. The doorman said the already talked to the Asian lady manager, and I cannot talk to her to understand why. He also told me he doesn’t know why she is not letting people in Secondly - I can see from outside into inside, and there are people leaving. There were two guys who came out from the samba dance floor! Anyway - this is more to let the owner know that the Asian lady manager seems terrible and obnoxious, not experienced. Refused to talk to the customers The doorman seemed helpless but at least he tried

One of the earliest in the queue, but was seated in a corner. Half the stage blocked by the head of someone who came later. Half the performance was on the floor of the stage. Wasted money, bad experience. Never returning.

I was here last night. The Trianglist was thrashing metal against metal. The three saxophones and four horns couldn't compete. The Bongo Chimp drowned out the background noise with his wild performance. What was a classical jazz band recruited from the local music college became a Trianglist one man show, that brought shivers up the spines of even the most jaded jazz aficionados.

So much fun, so many cocktails and so much talent on stage. Brilliant. Are there 10 stars here somewhere??? Wneres more stars??

The fringe show Claire Fahie & band were good. Security and the manager were wonderful! But the bar was awful- person mixing the cocktails was new & ruined the expensive drinks! Venue small and unbearably hot. They had to eventually open the front door to air the place. Not my choice for a classy premier jazz venue. Seriously needs an upgrade!

Great little venue and really the only place in Perth (that I know of) to hear live music and jazz. Word to the wise, get there early if you haven't booked a table as there are limited seats at the back and standing for a show is never as fun 🤣 enjoy

Drinks, food and music amazing. I still don't understand why there's no sweets on the menu, even of they had some naughty chocolates... I give them 5.5 stars, with a -0.5 star for no midnight sweet snacking... 🤭.

I’m a big fan of the Ellington Jazz Club. Tonight I went with my three children to celebrate our Christmas together and we were enjoying the show. Unfortunately there was an entitled woman sitting the first table on sofa, telling us not to cough on her because it was a jazz club. I’m saddened by such an ignorant individual. We chose to leave because we don’t want to ruin everyone’s night. I just want to inform you that there are people ruining your business by being self entitled.
