Went here for the first time and was very impressed. A wonderful place for individuals, families, dog owners alike. It has a great play area for kids and dogs and was lovely to see dogs on leashes happily sitting near their owners while dining in. Had a delicious almond chai latte. Would highly recommend and am going to visit again myself.

Family friendly and charming cafe. Great food and coffee with attention to detail. Staff are all welcoming, helpful, polite and considerate. I had the bruschetta with pesto. The poached eggs were perfect and the pesto tasted fresh. Looking forwards to my return!

Slate Cafe failed to meet even the most basic expectations during my recent visit. The dirty cutlery provided was an immediate turn-off, raising concerns about hygiene. The lukewarm to cold food further dampened the experience, with my partner's toast being completely untoasted. When we requested a re-toast, the same bitten toast was returned, indicating a lack of proper food handling. Overall, Slate Cafe's lack of cleanliness, poor food quality, and unhygienic practices make it difficult to recommend. For a more satisfying dining experience, I suggest exploring other options.

Really nice outdoor-ish atmosphere. Dog friendly too if that’s a plus for you. Service felt somewhat cold. Got pulled pork bens and a matcha latte. Nothing to shout about and the matcha latte was rather dilute. Nice vibes but I don’t think I’ll be back!

Great day today at the Staffy coffee group. This is a great idea from a cafe well designed to cater for our fury friends. There are quiet area's and a play area for the kids. Great day out today

Haven't been here for a while but we recently went down with our 2 dogs to grab some lunch and coffees for ourselves whilst the dogs ran around. The korean fried chicken flat bread was so good. We always love doggy friendly cafes we kind of wish they had just some cute plain doggy friendly noms like grilled chicken breast 😋 but overall we still rate this a 5/5 because

Today was our first-time experience here. The atmosphere is amazing, the play area for kids is so good, but the food was mediocre (looks nice, but taste so so).

Such a wonderful experience at Slate cafe this morning. I took my partner and 10 month old for breakfast. Lots of seating available so we were able to find a spot straight away. I ordered the french toast & a cuppacino and my partner got the big breakfast & a Turkish delight mocha. The service was so fast, coffees out in 5 minutes (if you're a parent you know how important this is in the morning 😅) and the food was out shortly after. The turkish delight mocha was mind blowing, definitely worth a try! I loved my french toast, first time I've not had to order extra syrup - there was such a generous amount as well as bacon and fruit. Amazing value! Partner also enjoyed his big brekkie, even if he did have to share half with our son 💙

Absolutely fantastic Cafe. Family friendly with heaps of things for the children to play with including a small climbing wall with a large grassed area for lots of room to run and play. Also picnic tables or Cafe tables outside with shade. You can bring your fur baby with you as there is treats for your doggie as well. Highly recommend this Cafe for a fun family experience. Must try the cakes!!

Food was a little cold but understandable due to the weather. Otherwise the service was amazing, cute dogs everywhere. Great place to bring kids and dogs to run around while you fill your tummy.

Slate Cafe is truly a near perfect place, a place where dog owners can attend, bring their furry friend and eat some delicious food. They even have a play area where you can watch them play with the other dogs, we have been many times and never had any issues with other dogs or owners. The staff are amazing, always a smile to be had, prices are cheap/fair and portion sizes are huge! I think the people who have left negative reviews did not realise this was a cafe designed to be inclusive of dogs.

Quantity of food was small for the pricetag. Tables & surroundings need to be clean more.

Was googling cafes near Caversham Wildlife park and found this place. After reading many reviews, we decided on this and all i can say is the place is great. The children loved the big open space where they can play the swings and also run around. Food were great too

A nice cafe with space for children to play at, which is a big bonus! The cafe is dog friendly so beware if you have allergies etc. The food is standard cafe food, with some Vietnamese fusion dishes. Drinks are also standard, though I was not very keen on the turmeric latte.

The vibe here is lovely and the cafe has a child friendly outdoor area which is awesome! Ordered the French toast, a banana milkshake and a fresh orange juice. The French toast was delicious, but for some reason did come with a random potato chip and had way to much syrup on it which made it way too sweet after a while. The orange juice was tasty and sweet. However, my banana milkshake came very watery and I was a little disappointed with the flavouring. The staff here were very friendly and helpful, and contributed to the lovely atmosphere of this cafe! Would definitely recommend to come here for a nice brunch.

Food and coffee was good, portion is big however service could have been a little better (friendly) and a bit of a wait with the coffee even though it should have been served first.

The pet friendly Slate Cafe is a regular for me and my wife, even though we don’t have a dog anymore we still come here for the 10 out of 10 coffee! I order my crispy bacon and eggs and there’s a generous serve with perfection every time. The staff know how to function in all aspects and tables always kept clean considering there always busy. Just go and try there coffee 👌
