I had the pleas of being admitted to private ward H2-23 after a Hernia operation. The operation was performed by Mr Hannes BASSON who I cannot speak highly enough (please see review left on Mr BASSON’s site). I was cared for by many staff during my two night stay, here are some of the names I captured: Alex Kat Crystal Lara (Croft) hahaha Siantel Christine Maria Lauren Taylor and Jill, how can I forget our 6am chat🤗 Drs, nurses and all carers were OUTSTANDING. I read some of the reviews that are quite harsh surrounding staff laughing, joking or sometimes being heard making noise. Nothing closing your door cannot remedy, but I believe this illustrates a good team ethic, camaraderie and all the stress relief needed to work their tireless shifts. Please be kind to these people. Our frontline essential professionals, without them, we would not survive. I wish to extend my gratitude and commend you on behalf of myself and all the patients you care for.

The must common phrase is sorry , most unorganised operation every come across. Private is understaffed , returned to ward at 7 pm from surgery with issue with wound still bleeding . Told to keep fasting as dr on way , midnight still no water or food since 8am still no dr “decided they did not want to come up to the ward “ I have gone in as private . Insisted on water and food as diabetic, then demanded . No not use this Joondalup private you do not get the care you think you would as a private patient.

Nice helpful reception area where you check-in and given clear instructions and a map to enter the ward. Staff are efficient and nice. Food is pretty good. Parking is expensive as expected

Very disappointed with the level of care and treatment as a private patient!! I’ve heard so many similar stories and complaints and seems like nothing is being done!

Do yourself a favour and do not go here. You would be much better off at any public hospital. My grandfather was given absolutely appalling care at Joondalup Private Hospital. When I visited him over 24 hours into his stay I discovered that he had not been given his nebulizer at all (that has been prescribed 3 times per day). When I enquired with the nurse there was no explanation or empathy offered. After asking many questions to determine how such a huge oversight had been allowed to take place I found out that the medication was on the list provided by the pharmacist but hadn’t been written on the chart by the doctor. The nurse said she called the doctor but we never saw them. All my grandfather was given was an insincere apology by the nurse for not providing him with an essential and life-saving medication. I wish that was the last of his suffering at this hospital... He was discharged after 2 days in hospital in a horrific state. After some prompting (my grandfather suffers from memory issues after a stroke) we discovered that he had not been provided his morphine at all in hospital (which he usually takes daily). This was also on his list of medication and had been provided to the hospital by his wife. To make matters even worse, the hospital didn’t give the morphine back when he left. When his elderly wife (86 years old) called the hospital to enquire as to why his medication had not been sent home with him a rude and uncaring nurse put the blame on my grandmother saying “I asked you if there was any other medication”. Obviously two elderly people should not be expected to remember every detail of a complicated care plan. As it turns out, the medication was in the drawer next to his bed, the nurses just hadn’t bothered to check it before he had left. Unfortunately my grandfather then had to wait even longer for his morphine after having been deprived of it for 2 days, as the hospital were unwilling to send it by courier. I’m sure these doctors and nurses would treat my beloved grandfather differently if it was their own family member. You don’t expect to leave hospital in a worse way than when you arrived.

Really awful. Never again on H3. Wouldnt allow the family pet to stay in that ward under the current management. Very sad. Used to be a nice place you could go to recover from illness ot trauma. Not anymore. If I hear anyone utter H3 again, I will ask to be transferred to a hospital that is fit to care for human beings with a complex medical history. One bitten, twice shy. This admission I was me giving Ramsay a second chance before I made up my mind about it, however the most recent stay was worse than the one where the 2pm-finish nursing-shift all knocked off & went home, having discharged me from their system but not having bothered to inform me of this & having left a ketamine pump IV running & still inside me -and the only reason they discovered I was still there was when no one answered my bell & my bladder was filled to bursting point that I'd finally given up waiting & tried to get up & go by myself (on crutches having had recent hip surgery), & I fell & had to push the emergency button & they came in angrily asking me what was I even still doing there as if THEIR nursing stuff-up were somehow MY fault! Nope. If at all possible, avoid this mob. This is a hospital where a nurse can override a professor's specific instructions to do whatever they feel like with your medication & treatment. Sincerely a highly disturbing & very frightening experience. Never again with Ramsay if there is ANY way I can help it. A lawyer would have a field day in court with how I was treated. The stuff of which your worst nightmares are made.

I have been admitted to this hospital three times and non of them were pleasant. The nurse most of them are rude, ignorant and to top up they dont even have a courtesy to close the curtain while I was in the emergency room. Too busy gossiping, it took 30 min before they attend the patient while I was in the maternity&gynaecology ward. Food is okay but could have been better at least healthier. I noted in my diet not to have any type of pork product but yet they still put ham in my food. I have to submit formal complaint for my first experience, got contacted by the customer liaison officer but no follow up after that. The worst hospital I've been to, what a waste of money for private hospital.

I just had my surgery cancelled. I arrived at the hospital today at 11:30am, in which I kept waiting until 5:30 pm for news of my surgery and my doctor. The nurses would stop by to tell me I was going to be next and an hour would pass and nothing would happen. When my doctor came to tell me that I wasn't going to have any more surgery due to lack of staff. I have never felt so disrespected as a human being in my life. My surgery was scheduled over a month ago. The lack of sensitivity and respect was absurd. I have no words to describe the lack of ethics and the lack of care that the hospital has for human beings.

My wife had our second daughter delivered by dr Althea last year. It was an amazing experience and all the birthing staff were incredible. However the following 2 nights in the private room were very disappointing. My wife pressed the buzzer in the night and waited up to 20 minutes each time for a disgruntled nurse to arrive and shrug of my wife's concerns. Also we had a midwife called Bridget who was supposed to come to our home the following week, she didn't show up. When we called her again she was very rude and said she came (which was a lie) as my wife was sitting in the front room waiting for her to arrive. She yelled at my wife and called her a liar and hung up. A most stressful experience.

I had my baby in joondalup private via emergency c section. I was well looked after the night of my surgery.. being bed ridden there’s not really any other option for the nurses and during the day, no problems with the day nurses. The following night however I had been moved to my private room but of course having major surgery it’s still quite difficult to do things without help. My baby threw up and cried historically which I hadn’t heard before so I pressed the nurse button and proceeded to try and get out of the bed.. it took some time for a nurse to come, it was also the third time I had pressed my button the entire night which apparently the nurse told my husband I had been pressing it every 20 minutes???!!! Even if I had what does it matter? Isn’t your job as a nurse to bloody care for people?! When she did finally get there she hardly stepped into my room, watched me struggling to get out of my bed and told me the pretty obvious thing of "you need to pick him up and change his bedding" all whilst my baby was screaming crying... extremely distressing for a first time mum in a lot of pain from major surgery!! How could u be so cold to stand and watch someone clearly in pain and struggling or even a newborn baby In so much distress! Why do we pay all this money for private care when we aren’t getting it?! I was too scared to press my button the rest of the night so I suffered in silence and did it all on my own which caused my wound to get angry and inflamed. the next day i left, even though the day nurses who were lovely didn’t want me to leave. I wasn’t staying another night to deal with that. Joondalup private such a disappointment

Stayed in ward H2, no pain management, nurses during the day was helpless. Rush me out of the room without changing dressing pad, different nurses has different answers. Hollywood private hospital is way more better than Joondalup. Really disappointed.

Never again! The worst hospital experience I’ve ever had. The nurses were rude and condescending. This is by far the worst hospital in WA. The patients are treated worse than cattle. You are pushed in and out with no concern for your well being or comfort especially after surgery. It’s more of a railway station than a hospital. After just undergoing abdominal surgery under general anaesthetic, I was expected to sit in a chair for 2 hours! I was told I couldn’t remain in the bed, but I couldn’t leave yet because I needed to receive another injection to prevent blood clots. So why not just leave your patient in a bed till they needed their medication? No idea. When it was finally time to receive the injection, she gave it to me in my stomach while I was seated in the chair, which was not only painful but left a terrible bruise. Extremely disappointing. We have good private health insurance, it costs us a fortune. We expect better care. Never again Joondalup hospital never again!

What a despicable experience I have had with this hospital! I notice all the reviews are answered with a standard response to contact the consumer liaison department. Don't bother! I did, and the response I received was patronising and offensive. Then they refer you to a Health Services Complaint Office if you're not happy, forcing you to relive the trauma all over again. The staff member I complained about lied her way out of it so it was my word against hers...and they took hers. Their failure in duty of care where they refused my father his medication, prescribed by his palliative care doctor, and taken into the hospital for his short stay, was also denied. My father came out of that hospital stay in a way worse state than when he went in. Their failure to administer his morphine and nebuliser left him in a very confused and distressed state. He never recovered. He passed away two days later. Sadly we had to spend the precious last days of his life struggling with unhelpful and uncaring staff, to retrieve his medications that had been taken into the hospital and not returned, so that he could function. Precious time we could have spent with Dad.

My wife went in for major surgery, they said they would call when she out of theatre. After 4 hours I rang them to find that she had been out for some time, it was too late to visit. Very poor considering they tell you to wait for their call.

Staff were lovely and kept me informed. I went in for emergency gall bladder removal. I've been concerned as a pensioner about extra cost but so far so good. Apart from $19 for medicines no gaps at all. Well done Joondalup. You've come a long way.

Recently admitted due to a gut bug, (nasty one) the staff from ED through to medical ward to general, the treatment 24 hours a day, I could not fault. The nurses although young had Florence Nightigdal in their blood.. They chose a great profession. My medical observations were treated as they arose. They were run off their feet but still ensured nothing was missed. The Drs. We're extremely thorough. My health status was their priority. Well done to all on from ED , & both wards.

The one star is for the amazing , anesthetic team who made sure I was calm, the amazing surgeon for doing a excellent job and the nurses who looked so well after me while in surgery, thank you!*. HOWEVER, I Stayed in ward H2, came out of surgery only did 4 or 5 observations and then if I had pain I had to call someone, otherwise no one will come in the room no 4 hourly and then 6 hourly obs have been done despite the fact that the only reason for my stay after surgery is to monitor my heart which no one did, so booking an appointment with Doctor tomorrow for a review of my heart as the pounding is not changing, but apparently I am to aware of it so thats makes the nurses not care and try to avoid my room?! Hard not to be aware of the deep pounding in your chest if it makes you uncomfortable! Also really bad giving handover of patients in the corridors instead of the patients rooms? , where is the privacy? The introduction of new nurses on for the shift?? Taking a set of obs on handover to be sure everything is okay going into the shift??? If my surgery was not painful enough so was the patient care.I could have just kept my 2500$ and stayed home with proper care. I know nurses are busy but it is not an excuse to provide basic patient care.. I did not bother anyone with unnecessary stuff my whole shift.. Also no one was aware of me coming to the ward. on arrival no explained the call bell, no one showed me how to use the phone to order dinner? I received dinner which I did not eat because it was not what I wanted. No one gave me the bed remote to adjust my self? I had fluids finished the nurse ran into room not saying hi just stopped the machine nor disconnecting the empty bag, or asking a basic 2 sec question or if Im ok or need anything, I had to wee pressed the bell so someone can disconnect everything so I go to toilet, another nurse came straight to my door grabbed other stuff and left again… At 3am in morning I started receiving some patient care hopefully continues till discharge

With out doubt the worst experience I’ve ever had in a hospital Stayed at h2 ward ..room 2..the noisiest room could not get any rest.. The staff seem to treat the place as some where meetup and chat loudly about there hang overs....I could go on and .. Bottom line it’s terrible run by uncaring amateur staff.. Better service at bunnings and much nicer :)

I’ve had experiences in your hospital that have always ended satisfactorily. But, a complaint that is beyond your ability to fix. The cost of food in the cafe on your ground floor is outrageous. $20 for a basic roll and OJ is far too much. I can only suggest that your Managers/Owners talk to these people ask them to wind down their theft metre, a lot. It’s traumatic enough if you have a medical issue, without having to pay ridiculous prices to soothe your hunger.

The fact that we spend so much money on private health cover, I would expect to be greeted more kindly and treated much nicer than I was while my husband had surgery last week. The receptionist in the DPU was extremely rude. It’s not hard to greet someone with a smile when they enter a facility specially as this is a hospital and people come there for care, are nervous etc. all the receptionists I was greeted by were rude, no smiles, looked miserable sent me on a wild goose chase here there and everywhere to get to where I needed to be. Appalled. If you don’t want to interact with people then find another job. The nurses in the waiting area for surgery sat there and spoke about there private body Parts very loudly, they were more concerned about their conversations than answering valid questions from my husband. Dr Murray Blythe however is above standards and amazing. Thank YOU for your care.

Joondalup Private: Nurse and Doctor care was excellent, everything else was substandard, food was poor until we discovered later there was a Private menu. Feedback section is ridiculous, only allowing 513 characters, how can one complain about such a poor service with Limited words. Rated Hollywood Private a 9/10, Joondalup a 2/10 how can there be such a considerable difference, Admin? Only reason we went to Joondalup was location and less distance to cover. Excluding Nurse and staff care, not a good experience. Food poor, parking expensive, expensive and inadequate catering for supporting family, not to mention location and distance to walk to cafe. Hollywood, a varied healthy selection of food that you choose, and I hear Sir Charles, waive the $500 excess fee and give daily vouchers for supporting family member to use at cafe. Private Health, phuff!

From the moment we arrived at the admissions desk, through to discharge, our entire experience at Joondalup Private was second to none. All the staff, nurses, doctors, cleaners, reception staff, catering staff etc were so lovely to myself and daughter Daisy. A special mention to the lovely lady at admissions that wished Daisy well and even remembered us the next day when we left - you absolutely made our day! It’s personal touches like that, that make the entire experience a lot easier!

The most amazing team of nurses looked after me on H1. Allana, Heather and 3 more nurses that I didn't catch their names, I'm sorry. All of them without so exception were so helpful, caring and friendly! Even in the waiting area before going in to the operation room, all friendly. Thank you for making this experience a whole lot better.

I broke my leg and needed plates and screws inserted. When I returned to the ward the buzzer was out of reach and I couldn’t get a nurse so after half an hour I rang the hospital on my mobile phone was put through to the ward and asked for a nurse to come. I’m a private patient. The next day being non weight bearing I needed to go to the loo, I waited a while hoping a nurse would come, eventually I pressed my buzzer and 20 minutes later a nurse came. I am currently being discharged and it can’t type how ridiculous it is at the moment it is shocking. Dreadful experience, absolutely disgusted with Ramsay and Joondalup hospital

I was here for nearly 2 weeks and although enough was enough for me in the end, I cannot fault my stay here. Everyone of my nurses were totally amazing and the student nurses will make brilliant nurses. The cleaners and tea ladies were also amazing. My Drs were fantastic also and thankyou. I can't praise the lovely young lass who took my food orders everday enough. She has a very special manner about her . And of course the food was very nice and I was definitely overfed lol. There is nothing that could of been done better. Thank you to everyone of you xx

Had my first child back in 2017, had very bad experiences. Was told by others that everything will be provided by the hospital but was asked why didn’t I bring my own breast pump by the rude lady who brought it to me when staying in hospital. Asked for more nappies when running out and was told that I should brought my own. I thought this is how private hospital operates until I had my second in other private hospital. Worst experience ever, hope it’s no longer like this now

I was impressed with the care while in hospital having my first baby but SEVERLEY disapointed with aftercare . Especially as I had a c section and because my issue with a leaking c section wound happened 3 days post my 6 week checkup with my OB, I was told to go to emergency. Easier said than done with a 7 week old baby you breastfeed, in tow. And also why clog up the ED with az NON emergency when we are told so often to call our dr's first, which is what I did. Will consider another hospital for any future baby's I think.

From admission to discharge as a day patient I found everyone to be very professional in a kind and caring manner. I was made to feel comfortable throughout the whole procedure and kept informed of everything they were doing and what to expect. Should I need to go in again I would not feel at all nervous given my first positive experience.

My husband has just come home from 6 as. patient on H4. ED zero complaints, fast accurate and on the ball. To the ward, cleaners, i use that word loosly. A hair pin on the window shelf day 1 (not ours) was now on the floor day 6. On day 3 i asked the Nurse to change the dressing on my husbands leg and was told twice, they were very busy that morning and the afternoon shift would do it 🤬 Food and choices 10/10

I pressed 3 stars but my actual rating is 2.5 stars. 50%. I was a recent patient here for a bowel surgery and was discharged just over a week ago after a 3 week stay. The good: My surgical doctors who took care of me, Dr Salama who performed my surgery and Dr Keelan who took care of me in Dr Salama’s absence were really good and so was the surgical team who looked after me, not too abrupt and negative like a lot of other surgical doctors so that was good. Most of the nurses were really nice especially Godly, he was in the ward a lot. TV services were also great with additional Foxtel and movie channels, I was able to watch non stop cricket to help cope with my pain! Overall, entertainment, nurses and doctors were the good bits The bad: There is one protocol that annoyed me to the absolute maximum, whenever I had to take a medication, I always get asked “Tell me your full name and D.O.B” that is the most annoying stupid protocol I have experienced, I literally have a wristband that already has those details, sometimes I’m in too much pain to talk, or I’m too tired and dozing. Please just stop making us repeat the same old things The obs machines are dodgy and need to be replaced, I mean the velcro on a lot of the blood pressure monitors are dodgy and keep coming apart, myself or the nurse have to physically hold it ourselves. You can’t have dodgy equipment in a hospital, very disappointed with that. The blood test people were a nightmare and often did a poor job leaving bruises and pain in my arms and hands, they kept having to move the needle around during blood tests to get into a vein. They still came in to poke me with a needle, EVEN WHEN I HAD A PICLINE! If I EVER have to come back I will request for a picline straight away so my bloods can be taken from there easily rather than painful needles destroying my veins. The most important thing you need when recovering is SLEEP, and you get none of it in the hospital. Obs schedules are poor, do them at like 8:30pm at the latest instead of like 10:00pm and instead of 5:00am do them at like 7:00am. And the noise is a nightmare, can’t people outside be more quiet! The worst part of all is the catering, it is extremely poor. Firstly, their schedules are poorly timed, breakfast is at like 7:00am when people are still trying sleep or slowly waking up, can’t you do it at 8:00am. Lunch is fine it’s usually around 12:30-1:00pm. But dinner is at 5:00pm!! That’s way to early!! 6:30pm is a better time, give us space and time to digest our meals!! Secondly, they get a lot of orders wrong especially with diet changes, I started at clear fluids and got upgraded to nourishing, and they still gave me clear fluids for lunch! So I was finally able to get nourishing fluids for lunch after a lot of sorting out things and they gave me double for “compensation”, how on earth can I eat double I’m literally slowly resuming my eating habits there’s no way I’m eating double, so lots of food wastage for you there! And if I get upgraded on a day, how about please telling us what we’re having instead of giving us the “chef’s choice” because then you either serve too much or give stuff we don’t like so again, more food wastage. Give the light diet more variety it’s just the same things every day, it gets boring. And maybe think about installing coolers and warmers on your trolleys, because my ice creams were often half melted by the time they got served to me and my meals went cold quickly. Also can the people who take our orders please read EVERY option! Because I found out I missed out on different things I would’ve loved because they weren’t read out. The catering needs massive improvement Also a suggestion, if patients want to have a walk outside for some fresh air, please find a way to do so instead of constricting us indoors, fresh air and vitamin D is vital! The beds are extremely uncomfortable and hard, I developed a pressure wound because of this, seriously please get more softer comfortable beds! That is my experience

The love and care you showed out happy little family will not be forgotten and we have been raving about how great you all are. A massive shout out to Shelley, Jo, Tracy and Melissa for all you did for us. And to everyone who checked in on us during our time there. Can’t wait to cross paths with you all again

My husbands mother died in this hospital on 17/8/22, a Wednesday night (she was poorly and elderly). Our complaint is the treatment, or lack of, after she passed away. She was left in your mortuary until Monday evening, the following week, as you had to wait for a doctor to sign off on her death records, before she could be moved to Purslow Funeral home. It appears that as it was a weekend the doctor was having a great weekend break while our mother was left in limbo in your mortuary. We heard nothing from Joondalup Hospital about the procedure or the next steps. So on Tuesday morning, the 28th August, we finally rang the hospital to find out what was going on and why was it taking so long and was greeted by a very abrupt lady, your Cart Supervisor, Stacey, who informed us she was moved to Purslow Malaga the night before (Monday 22/8). So then we googled Purslow Malaga to find out the next step and found no such place. So we rang the hospital back and asked to speak to Stacey again, and this time she was down in the mortuary, flicking through her paperwork, double checking she had given me the correct info. When we asked where is Purslow Malaga she abruptly said this was Purslow's holding place and "she can't tell me a name or time our mother was collected, and that we're done now okay?!" don't call her again!!!! Shocking phone manner to a family member of a deceased person. All we were trying to do was track her down as it had taken 7 days for a doctor at your hospital to sign off on the paperwork. Such terrible service, you really should improve it, and show some concern for the family after someone has died. We DO NOT recommend your services.

I had a c-section delivery at Joondalup Private and the maternity staff were all outstanding. Day or night every single nurse/midwife was so nice to us, answered all our questions/concers and were generally very good at their jobs, what they do for new mums and bubs is amazing.

Worse private hospital in Perth, zero care , zero communication skills, and food is awful. Getting told to take medication from nurse with no idea what or why my son needs it. This place is a mess

Took really good care of me and looked after me and my baby really well. I was transferred from another hospital to this one and put in ICU. I was in coma for 2 days and then went into maternity. It's now 5 years since my daughter was born and today my sister in law delivered a girl in this same hospital. Their experience has been really good as well. Really happy to have a hospital with all the needed facilities so close to home. Highly recommend the staff in the maternity wards both in the private and public sections of the hospital.

Fantastic Service!!! I had a Left Total Knee Replacement 3.5 weeks ago. I spent 5 days on H3. I cannot fault the care I received from all the wonderful staff on this ward. They are a credit to the hospital and the Manager Mandy. The cleaners, kitchen staff and all the nursing staff are hardworking, caring, pleasant and funny. They were a real pleasure to be associated with and an honor to be looked after such wonderful people. You should all be commended. Thank you very much for your wonderful care.

The nurses are absolutely amazing. I was in recovery post-op for longer than expected and the nurses were so lovely and treated me so well and attended to everything I needed or requested. 10/10 experience :)

The nurses in ED were amazing. I particularly want to thank Fiona, who stayed with me instead of going on her break. Thanks for your ruthless compassion when I was in extreme pain. You made all the difference. I’m not sure you’ll see this message but I hope in some way you are given acknowledgement for the commitment you have. Thank you.

I've been a patient a few times here. First visit was an emergency and the staff/doctors were excellent. Second/third visits were because I got an infection after being discharged after a bowel resection and had to be rushed back in. Student doctor felt I just needed a script and could go home even though infection was bad. Stood my ground and said no…ended up in for another 4 days on a drip!! Not happy either that that only had two shared rooms on the ward which were full each time…. my insurance only covers me for shared rooms but ended up in a private room each time…. refused to pay the extra as it's not my problem they didn't build enough shared rooms. On a better note, the staff were fantastic and once I was allowed to eat the food was great.

Avoid this hospital at all costs and take your money elsewhere. I stayed on H2. The food and quality of care is no different to that of a public patient. Rock hard cold toast is served in the morning with plain cereal. Lunch and dinner no different.  The doctors don't communicate and involve you in YOUR care. You are constantly left in the dark, wondering what the heck is happening. Concerns are continually ignored and your left with a bell still ringing 20 min later. SJOG Murdoch far outweighs this hospital on all counts and if this was my first time as a private patient, I would of called my health fund and cancelled cover. This will be my first and last time at this so called 'private' hospital.

Excellent maternity services. I had the most wonderful birthing experience there. I had my first at KEMH but I have to say that the birth of my second at Joondalup was so much better. I had a prejudice that they might try to push medical interventions on me but it was the complete opposite. The midwife coordinator and another midwife was there to help me deliver and they were so knowledgeable and supportive of a natural delivery. As a woman, they knew exactly what I needed to have a smooth and natural delivery from supporting me through my contractions to pushing my little one out.

Emergency was really busy .. and there was a wait before being seen .. but others waited much longer than me. Doctors and nurses were very compassionate and helpful.

Building works going on so parking is a nightmare. Plan at least to go earlier to resolve that problem or if you can park along the streets away and walk in. Staff friendly and rooms clean and tidy.

Hopeless hospital ever! Waited 5 hours at the Emergency department and still being told no idea how long will be our turn. You need someone to die only to be treated emergency !!

Management at this H2 ward are very very rude such a pity other staff are good but management are rude got thrown out of my room after surgery as my daughter could only come 1.5 hours later than I got discharged. With pain after surgery they got no sympathy for you, you must be out walking not even offering a wheel chair or offer to carry my luggage wanted to take me to a discharge room this is by far the worst I have been treated in a hospital by far very appealing but I hope the management of H2 surgical ward have a good day and sleep good at night as they miss what being a hospital os about after they got the money from your private medical.

Travelled to Perth for my surgery last Friday, paid my fees at admission, got to the day procedure waiting room (confirmed for a 2 night stay) filled out forms, did urine test. I receive a call while waiting , they've cancelled my surgery, not enough beds. Fuming to say the least. Family from overseas spent thousands$$ to travel over to help with my recovery and childcare, put pets into care for 3 weeks, more expense, two weeks accommodation booked in Perth (as per surgeon req). Time off work taken etc etc etc Thousands spent in preparation for this surgery Previously this has happened but with the Joondalup Public Hospital, cancelled multiple times over a course of a year, was given a couple of days notice which I thought was disgusting. My condition worsened and I had the surgery elsewhere. But to be cancelled while sitting in the waiting room, and as a private paying patient.. Very tempted to take this to the media

Hubby was in the Joondalup Private Hospital for 2weeks before he had surgery a couple of days ago. He was not returning to the ward he was in and I was given the runaround by nurses... from both the ward he left and the one he was going to. I was sent back and forth. As there was no where else for me to wait for the surgery to finish I went to the reception at the private hospital with a lovely gentleman from the laundry service dept (I think) accompanying me to reception. . I was very emotional at this stage. I explained the situation to the reception staff so they could check if his surgery was finished. There were no updates on the system. I waited at the entrance area. One of the wonderful staff at reception made me a coffee as the coffee machine was ‘out of order’. She even gave me a little chocolate snack. I so needed this. When there was finally an update these 2 wonderful ladies contacted where he was going after the surgery to confirm I could go to my hubby. OMG the reception staff even called for an orderly to wheel me there in one of the hospital wheelchairs. Thank you very much Sarah Davies and Erin Heslop. If only more receptions had staff like you two ladies that really go beyond there duty. Again thank you.
