Approx. 8km - Nice 2 hour walk or 1 hour run around with beautiful views, very scenic with wide variety of birds, good flat path all the way around. A calm tranquil place to chill in middle of suburbia.

The Discovery Centre is cram-packed with fun and information! So much to do in such a small space. Super well planned and interesting! It's not always open, so check before you go, but both my 6-year-old and 3-year-old were entertained for the afternoon! We took my 6-year-old to an event where he learned about Eagles and then they made an Eagles nest. Super fun, look up their events. There is a play room for younger kids too. Toilet facilities are well kept. The paths and reserve are great for walking too, but that's not what I'm reviewing, just the Discovery Centre.

Discovery centre with birdwatching experience. They also do events by BirdsWA sometimes. Subscribe to the mailing list and learn about cute birds and their habitat. If you are lucky you can find little grass birds and little bittern. 😍

Having lived in Perth most of my life, I didn't know this gorgeous centre existed. I recently was here for a conference and it was delightful. They are doing wonderful things for conservation and there's lots of opportunities to learn more at the centre. I'll be coming back soon to do a walk around the lake.

Such a tranquil spot, no wonder they don't want to get too busy, thanks Sam.

I went on a bird watching session around the lake, with a lovely group of birders. It was jointly run by the Gould League and Birdlife WA. I learnt lot and had a nice coffee afterwards. Just a super experience.

Herdsman Discovery Centre is always enjoyed by my children. The staff are friendly and always Willing to share their knowledge. They never get impatient with small children. Is enjoyed by us too because the coffee is Delicious!

We went to Herdsman lake near the car park close to the Discovery center. Just took some chairs and sat by the lake and contemplated life. It was evening on a sunny Saturday in that week just following all the rain, and water was everywhere, so were the ducks and the swans. When we were leaving, the light was playing through the trees so beautifully as you can see in these photos. This area was a favourite camping spot for the indigenous noongah people for many thousands of years as it was a great food source and plenty of water was always available. Their spirit lives on in this beautiful place.

It was a beautiful morning for a ecosystems class at Herdsman Lake. We enjoyed looking at organisms in the lake, sorting them and classifying them under the microscope, searching for and identifying insects in the soil, observing the surrounds of the lake and spotting birds around the lake and identifying them. We then got to observe some small reptiles on exhibit. I highly recommend visiting, it was a fantastic experience.

Well the lake & its inhabitants are awesome & inspiring...including the majestic paper-bark trees. We met a professional photographer who introduced us to his equipment & informed us of possible Tiger Snakes in the vicinity. 'Keep a watchful eye on the edges of the water,' he remarked, disappearing into one of the many paths. As for the Centre; locked as usual with no one to be seen. A common occurrence in this beautiful country, locked toilets & 'faces like boots', one of my International friends remarked. Such a beautiful landscape & country . No excuses really!

Closed for renovations mean even the wetland walk is closed because some stable genius with a spray can damaged timber building materials ... no black swan event for is 😟😠😬
