😠 Awful planning. Students are promised wellbeing days throughout the year as per the college website. The college has poorly planned this years event for the year 11's placing it on a day where many students have work placement and TAFE. The planning itself has been awful but even worse students have... People often mention school, students, teachers, year, care, student, kids, health, work, Year,

Awful planning. Students are promised wellbeing days throughout the year as per the college website. The college has poorly planned this years event for the year 11's placing it on a day where many students have work placement and TAFE. The planning itself has been awful but even worse students have been told to just skip TAFE which seems severely unprofessional. edit - I was interrogated and threatened to take this review down and I was cornered into a room, I was taken out of a class for this. The teacher was returning from a family tragedy and was talking to the class and I will forever regret missing hearing her words that day. I never felt safe, welcomed or like I fit in here and was often told off for things the girls next to me were doing. The school was completely biased towards those doing atar and who played a part in improving the schools reputation. I would like to point out I was a very high achieving general student who graduated with many rewards, so I wasn't "just a naughty kid", I put effort into my schooling and was not supported, cared for or respected. They have a very strong facade put up and if your child is an atar student, one who plays sport for the school or has a teacher for a parent then they will have no drama. But goodluck to the children who are different, who don't take atar, who don't "bring anything for the schools rep", and who like me, won't stand for the mistreatment of my peers. I have constantly tried to have "grown up" conversations about these issue but always to no avail. Many of my peers, since leaving this institution, have exceeded greatly since having the immense pressure and dare I say it, depressing environment, removed from their everyday lives. The support system here is non-existent and kids acting up are just dismissed as "bad kids" and then repeatedly targeted and punished, nobody ever stopped to ask why kids may be acting out... The school is homophobic and employs a "don't show, don't tell policy" in regards to this. And drug use is rampant amount teens with NO education ever being employed to help us out, they didn't want to address the issue because then that meant they had one... would also like to point out a majority of the 5 star reviews are from teachers!!! If your refuse to at least acknowledge this thought out, personal review from a high achieving, good student, then perhaps your ignorance is a part of the problem too.

The education system in high school is great, minus the fact that there is constant pressure put on ATAR students. As an ATAR student in both Year 11 and 12 I was never asked about my mental health or given any resources to make me feel as though the school cared about my well-being. Some of the class rooms are clean and nice to be in, whilst others are disgusting. The maths demountable rooms constantly smell, there is gum under the desks and the desks are old and unsanitary. Some of the teachers here are amazing and really do care about your mental health but most don’t from my experience. Some teachers like Mrs Hebiton only chase you up on your poor grades when you’re bringing down class averages or if you're wearing incorrect uniform. I was one of many students constantly being picked on by her and felt she was very rude, condescending and intimidating. The house centre and its leaders act as though they will help you and be there for you. Yet the only time the house centre cares or tries to check up on you is when they are telling you off for things like being late to school. I have never had a mental health check up from the House Centre and I was at this school from Year 7-12 despite telling many teachers how stressed I was. Yet I’d constantly have to come in for meetings over uniform and I once got in trouble just for coming late to school twice in one week. Even the ‘Dean of Students’ doesn’t check up on you for your mental health. Instead she bans music (which the entire lower high school agreed helped them with concentration) and makes uniform rules stricter. From my experience bringing issues to the house centre also only makes them worse, as they fail to understand situations, especially conflict between friends. I was bullied by a girl in Year 7 and instead of punishing her for writing my phone number in the school toilets they made us sit across from each other to try and ‘talk things out’ which only made the situation worse. The uniform is an issue at this school because some teachers don’t care at all if you wear “hoops too big” or “double earrings” and will in fact compliment them or ignore them, whilst others will yell at you and give you detentions. The inconsistency of telling students off for uniforms is a big issue in my opinion. Prior to the renovation of the canteen bathrooms the walls were covered with nasty comments, calling teachers fat and doing votes on what girl is the biggest s** in the year, etc. These comments summarise the social atmosphere as a whole from my experience as most girls are mean, gossiping and exclusive. I have had several friends leave this school due to the bullying/ gossiping amongst girls. The football academy is filled with misbehaved boys who sexualise teachers and fellow students. I am one of many females who has dealt with rude, sexualising comments for years mainly coming from the academy boys. Considering they're supposed to attain 'high grades' to keep their scholarships, most tend to be extremely loud and disrupting during class (from mine and most of my year group's experience.) Even during the Year 12 Netball Gradslam, many of the academy boys made comments about all of the female teacher's bodies. Most teachers also fail to notice the homophobic and sexist culture the football academy has brought but I definitely noticed the social changes that happened once the football academy was introduced in this school a few years ago. As someone who has had struggled with maths I never received a good level of help even after expressing that I was struggling for years. Especially in Year 12, teachers rushed through course work and failed to help students. There is a ‘maths club’ in which one teacher tries to manage about 15 students, including Year 9’s and 10’s who go there simply to mess around. These are just some of the issues I faced whilst at this school for 5 years and I honestly think LJBC requires many social changes.

Lake Joondalup Baptist College is a great school. Both my primary aged children enjoy attending the college. Their teachers are passionate about education and give feedback regularly to help stay on top of any issues my kids might face, albeit academically, socially, or emotionally. This is very reassuring.

In the past year my mental health has been terrible due to this school. They do not care for the students at all with an exception of a few teachers. The school never takes in any input from the students only looking out for the wellbeing of others, and just care about what the people with more power think. Many of your staff are terrible people and, quite frankly, should lose their jobs. I doubt these issues will be resolved and they will continue to not care about the students. Any parents reading this, please raise your expectations and read every review to a school that you are considering sending your children to.

It seems people have deliberately sabotaged the schools rating. I'm unsure why, I have 2 students there, kindy and year 6. The teachers have been incredibly supportive and communication is excellent. The facilities are great, huge gym, big ovals, right next to Joondalup Arena for swimming events. Our kids are both thriving there. The school is definitely not a 3 star college, don't pay attention to the "trolling" reviews below, they are possibly kids expelled for attempting to bring drugs in, as the school takes a hard stance on anti social behaviour.

Great school. Really take the time to do whats best for you and they make sure all the kids are working hard but also safe and happy. Can rest easy with that one. The little ones are given real work to do, not just play. But at the same time they also have a lot of fun and interactive activities. Good balanced system and unlike any other school I have seen.

I am an ex-student of LJBC and attended the college from 2004-2011. LJBC gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams of becoming a teacher as I was so inspired by the tireless, amazing and dedicated teachers I had at this school. Everyone in the LJBC community works so hard and takes the time to cater to individual student needs. I experienced both the Primary school and the High School at LJBC and had a wonderful time as a student in both. LJBC always had fun events, carnivals and exclusive learning experiences that I will always remember. My teachers were genuinely passionate about creating a healthy learning environment and the leadership, principals and Head of House were genuinely interested in how each student was progressing academically, socially and spiritually. Looking back on it, I am so glad I was given the opportunity to attend such an outstanding school for the majority of my school career. It is a wonderful place to be as a student and I am so grateful for all the encouragement and hard work the teachers and leaders of the school put towards my education!

Overall this school is average. Although they provide 'wide' range of subject selection going into year 11, to get into these you are required to excel in subjects that barely relate in year 10. For example, my daughter was denied entrance to the year 11 Psychology ATAR course because she did not achieve a 65 average in year 10 science. However, my daughter still passed the overall subject. Despite extra efforts of personally contacting the school about joining this course and explaining that it was her aspiration to be a psychologist the school still denied her into the course, not even letting her do a trial. The school is not able to accurately predict my childs capabilities in this subject as it 'psychology' alone has never been assessed in previous years. Course marks from year 10 have no significant relevance as i know students who have been accepted into the psychology course that have miserably failed (many of these being due to lack of motivation for this course). My daughter made it clear she was willing to put in maximum effort which would have been evident through the trial if she had gotten one. I think it is absolutely appalling that I pay ridiculous money for this school and my daughter was denied entrance into a subject that her dream job is related around because the school is too concerned about their reputation. This reputation of having a high average ATAR score!

They have the most amazing Year 11 Integrated Science program giving students the opportunity to design, 3D Print and build their own fully functioning aquaponics system. I was thoroughly impressed when I went to visit.

Most of the 5 star reviews are from teahers who work at the school and are trying to keep the school google rating looking nice. I found the school seems to try to fix a problem which doesn't need fixing (like this term they made it so students between year 7-10 can not listen to music any more. But down people like myself prefer to listen to music to get into the "flow" and complete more work. The only thing I can see happening is students "rebelling" against the new rule and playin music out if their laptops which is even worse. Also it's seems minor things are poorly organised long with some major things. overall 2/10

Absolutely disgusting how this school treated my son, seemed more interested in his funding then how they would help and educate him. For a school that prides themselves on being fully inclusive to all needs this certainly wasn't the case in our experience!!

In the past year my mental health has been terrible due to this school. They do not care for the students at all with an exception of a few teachers. The school never takes in any input from the students only looking out for the wellbeing of others and just care about what the people with more power think. Many of your staff are terrible people and, quite frankly, should lose their jobs. There is a massive problem with nepotism which always favours the children of the staff or prominent members of the community around Joondalup. The workload that the students are given is abysmal and unnecessary. Homework does not help, caring about the students and making them have a reason to like your subject does work. They are inattentive to the issues going on in the school and in students lives. I drastically fell behind in maths and either they didn't notice or they didn't care. I wouldn't be surprised it it was the latter as they do not care about the decreasing mental health many students face. They constantly let racism and homophobia by. I know that everyone deserves to be treated equally and they should not allow this type of behaviour to happen. If you truly cared about your students you would educate them on these topics and make sure that these incidents do not happen again. I doubt these issues will ever be resolved and they will continue to not care about the students. If any parents are reading this, please raise your expectations and read every review to a school that you are considering sending your children to, whether it be a joke or an actual concern.

love the school besides the fact I failed art, a math test, humanities test, science, and applied design. So instead of taking the blame for myself, I am going to blame the teachers. (Jokes)

Its a good school not the best but l have already made lots of friends and great memories already just from 2 terms of being here but the school is too expensive in my opinion because it has extra staff that is unnecessary staff working at LJBC and the way they teach is like any other private or public school.
