The basin is own of the hot spots on the island you can go swimming. It will have lifeguards on duty. The water itself will be quite cool but the hot Australian sun will warm you in preparation for your entry. The water is clean and clear and so blue it will look artificial to you. Find a spot on the beach and you can spend the day here. It's next to a public toilet and a water blubbler.

It was a very nice swimming and snorkeling spot. It is quite accessible from the main settlement only a ~8 minute bike ride. The basin is named after its basin like features: a rock plateau that dips in like a basin. This was useful for snorkeling since many fish will hide under the overhang. I was able to spot a few 30cm long fish and a few schools of small fish :)

A fantastic beach and during the summer and spring the water is wonderful and warm. Probably one of my favourite beaches anywhere in the world. Coral reef with colourful fishes and a great place to relax .

Great little beach on rotto. Easy walk from the town, good swimming spot and great for snorkelling. Pinky’s is probably better if you don’t want to walk on the reef to get to the sandy bits.

By far one of the best spots on Rottnest BUT it is always crowded and hard to find a shady place. The street area most likely has some broken glass lying around, so don’t walk bare feet. If you want to enjoy the view before the big crowed arrive, come early in the morning. Outside showers, toilets and water refill available. The last weeks, KULT CREAMERY has their ice cream van there too, which is awesome for a vegan cookie or ice cream break 🍦 Quakkas guaranteed 😉

Great safe swimming and snorkeling 15-20 minute walk from ferry wharf.

The Basin is absolutely stunningl! It's conveniently located next to the changing rooms and as I'm not the strongest swimmer, I felt more reassured here as there's life guards patrolling from 830 to 4pm. It's also only 7 min walk from the main village.

A favourite place and first stop on trips. Great for introductions to snorkelling for kids and adults. Sheltered bay with facilities and ice cream van. Walk around the rocks to the right to another sheltered bay

Really easy spot to hike. It has great views of the ocean. Clean toilets available and you might spot many quokkas along the way.

So good. The whole island is awesome. Favourite places for me is little salmon bay and little parakeet bay. And obviously the basin

Very relaxing place especially after an up-n-down bike ride. Also a safe beach for little ones and people not good in swimming.

Lovely spot on the island, nice grassed area above the beach. Not a large sandy beach, better places for swimming but I've been told snorkeling here is good. Area has good facilities and was nice and clean

What a beautiful place to swim and snorkel. There is toilets and change rooms, trees for shade, places to sit, water for drinking and showering. Steps down to the water and a very sheltered reef area to explore. Easy to access and not far from the ferry and town. Well worth a swim ans snorkel, we seen many fish and wonderful coral in the reef

Enjoyed riding around the Island. Shallow cool beaches. Breathtaking scenery

Food was gritty as I literally ate sand. Didn’t get served by a single person and it was windy and nobody offered to turn the wind down which was infuriating. A boat went past at one point and I didn’t like the noise of its engine. Absolutely will not be back until next time.

Fish 🐟 🐠 galore at The Basin! What a great spot for the family to go for perfect views, shade, a lovely swim and yes, heaps of fish along the rees, big and small. The beach is patrolled by Surf Lifesavers and there is easy access to the sand via steps with rails. No ramp though. Freshwater showers to rinse off under as well as a new ablution block with toilets. Heaps of bike parking, easy access and just one of the classic places to stop on your trip around Rottnest!

It is a small beach but it is beautiful. Not bad for snorkelling n the water is very clear. No corals but plenty of fish to see.

Just as I remember it. Warm water and so many fish. New toilet facilities and cold water shower to rinse off.

One of the most popular beaches in Rottnest island. Pristine water and beautiful reefs makes itself a great snorkeling spot. Hop off at Georgie Bay and walk for 13 minutes if you take bus.
