Unbelievable eatery. The food here feels home cooked and yet at the same time with serious flavour. The staff are exceptional and lovely, there is ample area to eat around the fireplace if you want or to sit in the refitted train carriage. The pea and ham soup is out of this world and is a must try! This place is absolutely an institution here in Perth, and I have driven out here multiple times even when I’m not in the area. Their late hours make it really easy to pop by even for a supper if you want to! If you’re driving past - then definitely drop by, it’s worth it!

While Alfred’s Kitchen has been a Perth icon for so long, not sure if my taste has changed or if the burgers have always been so average. The pea and ham soup was delicious, but the burgers were on plain bread (read the menu carefully!), and I’ve honestly had better burgers at a random kebab shop. Not worth the wait or the drive. The carriage setup is very cute, but the food is very disappointing for an iconic Perth dining place.

Alfred's kitchen is always buzzing. Great location with plenty of parking. The service is quick, professional, well priced and very friendly. They are known for their pea and ham soup... Absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend... Great place for late night munchies.

A must visit, especially if you're in the area. Fire pit is awesome. Definitely order soup and have it around the fire whilst waiting for your food to be served. Plenty of seating around and there's indoor seating (tram) if you don't want to be seating outdoors. There's something therapeutic about an open fire.

A cold night. Hungry. Alfred’s Kitchen is the place. Great burgers 🍔 and the pea & ham soup is to die for!!! Enjoy your bites and soup near the fire pit. Good place to sot, eat, sip soup and chat.

This place is great for late night hangouts. Be ready to wait for a long time because of the steady stream of orders they receive. They have plenty of room to dine in but it is quite messy in there. Staffs were lovely though and their burgers and soup are quality 🤌

One of my favorite place for real burger and pea & ham soup. Every time, when I go east, I always go pass by to enjoy again.

The place is amazing, the burgers and sandwiches are huge in portion. Definitely worth your money. My favourite was Hawaii sandwich. They have a wide variety so I’m sure there is something for everyone. But surprisingly none of us liked the cram burger. There’s a parking right next to it, which makes it easy to get what you want. Plenty of seats right next to the coming area.

Alfred’s Kitchen is a burger haven that deserves every bit of praise. Their burgers are a gastronomic delight, a perfect blend of quality ingredients and culinary finesse. The moment you sink your teeth into one, you’re transported into a world of flavor. The patties are juicy, the toppings fresh, and the buns impeccably soft – a symphony of taste in every bite. What sets Alfred’s Kitchen apart is not just the delectable food but the welcoming atmosphere. The staff’s warm smiles and efficient service enhance the dining experience. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, Alfred’s Kitchen is a culinary gem that promises satisfaction. If you’re on the quest for burgers that redefine perfection, look no further than Alfred’s Kitchen – where every bite tells a tale of culinary mastery.

It's been a well loved and enoued place for locals wanting a nice hot cup of hearty pea and ham soup with a family-friendly atmosphere for many years now. Alfred's Kitchen has possibly the best soup in Perth they also do hearty burgers and chips etc. Nothing fancy just tasty food and a good atmosphere. You can sit around the outside fire pit or at one of the many picnic style tables or you can eat inside the old tram that is for wet or cold weather. We always enjoy going there. One very small thing I think could be improved is possibly service WITH a SMILE... it doesn't cost anything and would make it an ALL ROUND POSITIVE EXPERIENCE.

Awesome as always, great value tasty food. One observation is the train carriage dining area definitely needs free air to be able to circulate through it otherwise it can get stuffy. Luckily sitting in the outdoor area is an option.

Waiting time: 40 mins. The burger bread was the best. Chips 🍟 was too dry. Lots of lettuce 🥬 in the burger, feeling healthy.

Been coming here for 2 decades, food hasn't changed, and that is a good thing! Pea and ham soup is amazing as usual, it's my personal favorite, have tried pretty much the entire menu, today was the the first time getting the toasted sandwiches, and just like the burgers they don't disappoint! Wait time is around 10 minutes, about 20 when busy, but definitely worth the wait, Matt Preston didn't say Alfreds have the best burger in Perth for the sake of saying it... Love being able to sit in the train carriage to eat in, the fire pit out front is an awesome option when it's cold. Always bring people here when they aren't from Perth, my sister from Tasmania always comes here each trip

I have heard a lot about this place and it didn’t disappointed at all actually can’t wait to go back! It’s a very fascinating place where the old (the stove, the white low ceiling) and the modern (new fridge, espresso machine, monitor) combine together; a mixture you don’t see quite easily nowadays. We thought the burger were not a good size due the price but we were wrong. They were normal size for half of the price you get normally at the pub, and they were really tasty! I would suggest to get the chicken burger but also the hamburger was delicious. Chips were not great probably because we put the chili sauce on it so I would give another try next time. The peas and ham soup is been cooking on the vintage stove pot really old style like they used to do when gas wasn’t connected yet. The idea of the carriage, with inside tables, the courtyard with warm fairy lights and picnic tables are the additional touch on this place. Great idea keeping the business as it was, maintaining the prices and keep up with the quality. It takes a lot of courage to don’t change it and sticks to the same old tradition.

Fantastic old school burger joint. No frills. Great family atmosphere. Sit by the fire and eat your dinner or jump in the carriage. It's a must experience. Pea and ham soup in winter ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Went to Alfreds late on a Sunday night and was not disappointed, neither was steady stream of people also at the restaurant when most venues would have been empty. I ordered the famous Pea & Ham soup (original 1946 recipe), Alfred's special burger and a side of gravy and chips. The food was delicious, the soup extraordinary and the service was with a friendly smile. Value for money: 9/10 Food: 7/10 Only complaint is that there is not an Alfreds closer to me.

It's definitely a place that maintained its standard after all these years. One of my favourite late night go-to although it's a bit of a drive away. We ordered a Cram and an Alfred's Special (added pineapple), some chips and a pea and ham soup. The pea and ham soup was smooth and really tasty and it's kept warm over a charcoal stove. The Cram has both a steak and a beef patty, the overall balance of flavour was good with the slightly sweet bbq sauce working well with the fresh vegetables in the burger. The steak however can be tricky to try and take a bite of but it's not too troublesome. The Alfred's Special is satisfying as well, a sandwich well made. The chips are well done as well. Come during the cold nights and they have a nice wood fire going that's a really community vibe

My friend told me this place used to be the best. We bought a few burgers, they tasted pretty average compared to other restaurants in the city.

Greeted with a warm fire 🔥 right at the front of the shop. We were there at 11.15pm thereabouts and there was a small queue. The ambience was great, gather around the fireplace for warmth and chat with other friendly customers. We waited for a bit for our orders but overall the burgers were worth the buck in terms of size and flavour. However perhaps its mine, the patty was a little dry. I had the steak burger. I wished it was kinda juicier. Overall good place to be at for nice burgers considering all other restaurants closes early. You'd probably need to drive to this place and parking is limited if there's a queue.

The food was okay. The potatoe wedges were unsalted and too soft. The staff seemed very stressed. I did not understand a word of what the woman was saying to me when picking up the order. Sitting in the old Wagon was not the best - tables were sticky. All in all for a small snack it's alright. Don't sit inside the Wagon if you don't have to. The outside is better.

A visit to a blast from the past and was not disappointed!!! Food is fantabulus, staff friendly and running fast because they are that popular... still. The fire pit out the front a friendly welcome on a wet night and the soup is great and the burgers are as well.

You already know this place is good, serving since 1946, Alfred's kitchen have perfected their burgers. Amazing hamburgers and soup. The line can be quite long (~40 minutes) so get here early. The eating area also has an old train because the building used to be the old Guildford station. I have been coming here for years and am definitely coming again when I'm in the area. :)

TLDR: Worth the trip for the atmosphere alone. Order soup to eat while you wait. The whole process is a fun experience, as long as you don't mind waiting a long time (didn't time it but probably waited 40-50 minutes on a Saturday night, even arriving around 9:30 pm). It was great being in the crisp air near the fire and hanging out while we waited for our food. I recommend ordering some of their famous pea soup because it's delicious AND you can eat it while you wait for the rest of your food haha. The other food was good too. I got a burger and threw on some pineapple which was fun. Gravy on chips was yum. The whole thing gives off fun small town vibes. Friendly people sharing a bite to eat by the roadside next to a fire!

This place is seriously still as good as it was all those years ago. Friendly service, beautiful tasty food, great value, with a vibey atmosphere. I know there wouldn’t be many people that haven’t tried something from there, but if you haven’t I would 100% recommend giving it a go. Just a side note if anyone finds a better pea and ham soup please let me know 🤤

Hearty sized meals with traditional home cooked feel and taste. Reasonably priced and not left wanting for more. Was warm and cosy eating in the dining car with plenty of tables

My favourite place for Burgers. And their Ham and Pea soup is the best of the best!!! Great vibe and always a long queue of people outside but the staffs are really efficient and food is out really fast.

Never had a bad burger here, even though they forgot the pineapple 🍍 in my Hawaiian. The rest was absolutely tasty but. It's a great takeaway. 8 stars really. Always to be recommended 👌
