Made sure I had a look at this amazing wetland area whilst it has a lot of water in it. The symphony of frogs, birds and insects was quite mesmerising. Could not walk close to the waters edge as it is very swampy at the moment. Wear boots to get closer! Blue fairy wrens, parrots and dragon flies to watch. Could not see any frogs but many there- listening to their calls. Came across a youtube video by Indigenous Australians about the cultural heratige of this location, very special.

Really quiet, you can actually walk the circumference of the lake however the land adjacent to it is all marshland so the path is quite a distance out. Lots of wildlife in the area too. Whilst the carpark is small, not many people visit this place so there’s always a place to park. There is an observatory deck that you can walk out to and get closer to the lake but it’s still pretty far out.

We pay respects to the Nyungaar people the original and traditional custodians of these lands, their elders past, present and upcoming. It is one of the the most important wetlands in Western Australia home to a large range of migratory waterfowl, various reptiles and amphibians. It is a very important place for the Aboriginal peoples as well as being one of the earliest places people settled in the area. It’s more of a bird watching park as there’s not much room for walking or anything else

Beautiful peacefull place, teaming with wildlife, you can see lots of swans, ducks & pelicans. Nice pathway to a viewing platform that has informative information boards about the wildlife that lives at the lake as you walk along. Also at the viewing platform there is a really good board with info about the history of the lake.....see if you can find the remaining flag pole from the early 1900's!

Had a really good walk around the lake which was a lot further than wed anticipated lol but enjoyed every inch of the 6.5 km round trip. Had been here a couple of times before but didnt realise you could walk right around. Will be doing it again for sure and have recommended the adventure to others already.

Nice for a gentle walk. Lots of midgies, but they don't bite - just swarm.
