Very peaceful and scenic place. There is a Krishna and aadhi Shankarar temple ,darshan timings are morning 6 A.m to 1p.m ( noon)..Eve 4 p.m to 8 p.m night. There is a river poorna by the side of the temple, which is clean . Rooms here are totally clean and maintained well. Food here is simple and best, happened to visit here for function. Rates are nominal too Route : to reach here, get down at angamaly railway station and you can get auto for adi Sankara mutt, kaladi. accepted auto fare is Rs 200 to 250!

Have you seen the beautiful greenery on both sides while travelling through the Kalady bridge? Wanna go there? This is it. There is a path to the river side (I've posted a picture of the path) walk through the path, climb down the steps. Well, that's all you have to do.

Awesome place. So serene and so calm. It's situated inbetween so many beautiful plants and trees along the banks of Periyar River. Fig trees, lemon trees, jackfruit trees, hibiscus plants, banana trees. So much positive vibrations and calmness around you when you just sit and meditate.

Read about it in primary school 🏫. It's amazing how Bhagwan Sankara travelled the entire India in those days for four times. And crocodile 🐊 catching child Sankara.. Parrots chanting Swatah Pramaanam Parataha Pramaanam in front of Mandana Mishra house 🏠 unbelievable these days. I salute Bhagwan Sankara. 🙏 a Divine Soul. It's my dream to visit Kalady and see Purna river. My dream is fulfilled. Pray God for the betterment of the mankind. Kerala is blessed to beget divine souls. 🙏🙏 And after that we visited Guruvayur appan temple in the morning 🙏 quite a spacious and huge temple complex and corridor. Lord Krishna as Guruvayur appan. Interestingly some of Tanjavur painting are displayed on the walls of temple exteriors. Mahabharata stories and some others. What's significant in the paintings, is that all the pictures of divinity are very expressive ❤️🙏 pleasing and perfect shapes. Artistic and creative.. You can't find such divinity anywhere... You really feel Dhanyosmi. Masterpieces, really. We learnt that, our legendary singer Yesudas is not allowed inside the temple. Because he is not a Hindu! But he is allowed in Kolluru Mukambika temple. This is really ridiculous and unacceptable! Yesudas has sung melodious songs in praise of Lord Guruvayur appan. It seems he challenged temple authority, to give him just one chance to sing in front of temple and the doors will open automatically! But he was denied .. Sometimes I wonder Humanity has come thousands of years. All are creations of God 🙏 🌹 and still this Untouchability... In the era of globalisation...!! That too in God's own country....!! It's an unpardonable crime against humanity and God 🙏 Pray, sabko sanmati de Bhagawaan 🙏

Serene...soothing....spiritual. A must visit for a seeking person. Sure to act as a balm for people, harried by the chasing, running world. I personally will definitely visit again.

Serene, tranquil, peaceful and extraordinarily clean, however I could find a lot of litter on the banks of the nearby river which I do not wish to share photos of. Overall a nice quiet temple, I do not usually prefer holy places with congregation of people, as it does not vibe in for me. The noise and ruckus of some really important temples put me off but this one is very different. Its good for some inner reflection - spiritually not religiously..

This is the holy birth place of Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya. It is situated on the banks of Poorna (periyar) river. At this place Adi Shankaracharya took monk hood at the age of 8 and travelled length and breadth of India to unfurl the Advaita Vedanta philosophy. He established four prominent Peetham ( Vedic Education Centre). PS:- Adi Shankaracharya's potential changed the course of Poorna river to flow near his home.

Divine experience. Place is very peaceful and energized. Staff are very cooperative. With prior intimation we can have satvic food there. Sevas are performed very well. We could not try their accommodation as it was full.

Awesome place. Easy to commute to as transport is not an issue (Near to Cochin Airport). The Birth place of Sri Adi Shankara and the temple of Sri Krishna is worth a visit. The Temple is well maintained and a very calm and serene atmosphere prevails here. Ample paved car parking is provided just outside the Temple. The toilets present outside the temple premises could have been maintained a bit hygenically...?

Time to see this place 30 to 60 minutes depending on your interest. Faith neutral entry: no clear idea, mostly not. This is the birth place of Shankaracharya. Nice, serene, quiet temples on the banks of river Purna.
