Malegalalli Madhumagalu is a play adapted from the novel Malegalalli Madhumagalu. written by Kuvempu who is the 1st Jnanpeeta award winner in kannada literature and received as Rashtrakavi. this novel Converted and summarised as play by Dr. K.Y. Narayana Swamy, professor at Bangalore central University. conceptualised and Directed by C Basavalingaiah, at Kalagrama, Bengaluru produced by Department of Kannada and Culture. Govt. Of Karnataka. This play is totally different than usual play aspects. Because this play you can enjoy Over night and you will get to know the life style and society structure of malenadu (western Ghats) Play starts by 8;30pm to 6am , it's 9hours totally- 70 artist are involved in acting and they have 4 stages each stage is quite different more attractive.. very decent play and actors energy is flawless.. this play got amazing support from all generation like, old age people to college students it's mesmerized and superb.. Play will moves in 4 different set uped stages. In between changing the every stage you can get 10 minutes of coffee break. You can taste Tea coffee uppittu navane bisibele bath n same snacks too. Moreover this total play is awesome and wondering by Aitha- linchalu, nayigutti - thimmi and mukundaiah - chinnamma's love story and acting. The dog Huliya, subbanna hegde, kaveri, antakka setti, devaiah hegde and holeyaru roles are very impressible. Play takes to discuss about modernisation effects on local societies and colonial affects on cultural traditions too.

This place lives up to its beautiful name. Kalagrama in Kannada means - An art village. It truly is a small town with multiple open ground theatres, a tiny artificial lake, granite sculptures and many walkways amidst the trees to take an evening stroll. The entire Kalagrama was turned into a typical village of Malenadu (Western ghats around Central Karnataka) for the portrayal of "MalegaLali madumagalu" drama based on a book by Kuvempu.

Not like any other drama. Open theatre play specially entire night show from 9pm to 6am and different destinations to watch is mesmerizing performance by entire team without any lag. So good response from audience in recent days says no tickets available on spot and tickets need to be booked in prior or else we would miss that particular days show. No lesser than any hit movie. Entire tribute goes to Mahakavi Kuvempu sir along with him the Director who drempt of bringing this book story on live performance. Other than this play many short plays are also done and is updated In their website accordingly. Please check once before visiting Kalagrama either in online booking portal or its own website. Thanks for the high rating show.

An excellent place to perform plays. Although pulling the audience is bit challenging since it's outside the cultural hubs of Bangalore. For example: Malleswaram or Basavanagudi has weekend audience dedicated to watch plays. But here it depends upon team's capability to market and sell tickets in advance. The cost of the place is quite quite economic. It might be difficult for everyone to get opportunity to perform here due to some regulations. But altogether it is a great place.

The Kalagrama offers theatre lovers another soul satisfying experience. It is situated in Bangalore University campus, Mallathalli. Nearest metro station would be Deepanjali Nagar Station. From there it is 4km away. Currently it is hosting one of the most famous play Malegalalli Madumagalu (Kannada) which will be performed until 29th of February 2020. If you are a person who is into literature and theatre and understand Kannada Language properly, this play is a must watch. Kalagrama is offering us a mind blowing and peculiar experience within the city.
