Overall - Decent taste . Not up to the old Murugan idli standard. Quantity will be less compared to the rate. Different varieties of chutney tastes good. Ghee Podi Idli is a must try !!!

Staff are very rude (Periyakaruppan).Today 23rd October. I visited with Velachery murugan idli shop. My 3 kids and spouse, Mother in law got seat. I sat in a another table with the permission of other customer (they already finished dinner ) they asked me to sit. I clearly explained the situation periyakaruppan waiter . Still periyakaruppan didn't allow me sit and i left without eating . Rude people. They will beg soon.

Food and service was exceptional... Only wish if the ambience was better for the price they charge for the food... Try their podi dosa, garlic podi idly, curry leaf powder idly, ghee podi idly... End with their special jigarthanda. Very friendly waiters and definitely would go again for a good meal

The experience was decent, with nothing extraordinary except for the diverse array of chutneys. The service was attentive; extra chutney was offered before we could request it. Though pricier than comparable establishments, it appears that Murugan includes a brand premium in their charges.

Tried their outlet in velachery. The moment you enter the outlet , the service is 😀😀😀, no comments. Decided to take away instead , the gentleman with whom you place order 😀😀😀, no comments. So finally pick and chose what i wanted. Must say the podi idly was good and so was their vada and podi dosa. Go for it for the food. Don’t expect anything else. I’d rather order on a delivery app, but realised i’m paying a lot more, rather walk by and pick myself.

Food is good, decent but nothing spectacular, you can find similar quality food elsewhere also . Service was bad, they were not attentive at all, had to call them multiple times every time. Other staff will not attend to your need even if they can, only the guy who took your order has to attend. It may be to track the order and for tips, but on the flip side, the customer experience is spoiled.

Very worst experience with the staff ..they are focusing on racial discrimination .. I firstly visited there on around 11 :20am (12/1/24)and ask the man in reception whether there is breakfast available at this time ..He told GO INSIDE ..Ok we just make ourselves quiet and awaited in the outside of lounge ..I sent my son to ask the cleaner about the seat , he told after cleaning you can occupy .. after cleaning we went and take the seat since they are lots of chairs are available .the man who is taking the orders he told WAIT THIS IS NOT YOUR TURN AS IF I BEG FOR THE FOOD … Infront of US he placed some another peoples in the seat they just came also 😡😡😡😡very much INSULTING experience …we just left from there . Learn to RESPECT people first then DISCRIMINATE . Beware of That Man (I attached the picture ) He will talk very rude way So don’t expect good manners from the PEOPLE there GOODLUCK

Good veg restaurant. Food taste and quality is good. Service needs to be improved and the person serving sambar and chutney doesn't understand tamil and pours on his wish. Need to improve service.

Nice experience in this shop. We had onion uthappam and podi Idli. Both where so awesome and the taste was so good. Don't try their other chutneys and coffee, it was very bad.. only try sambhar and coconut chutney. Overall a good experience.

The famous idly shop and their Ghee podi idly is something unique taste always. Worth and quality food being served for its price. Speedy service too and it's located in the Nice place with parking facilities. Their veg meals is simply awesome but not being served as hot as expected. But quality n taste is okay. Can be improved and consistency matters a lot when you become such names. Highly recommended for veg food lovers and they serve madurai famous jigardhanda as well.

Today we ordered for idly through zomato. Idli was like stone and very sour and the sambar was stale ( like used sambar which had plenty of dosa pieces in it ) . We called the restaurant and some have the person spoke from the hotel tried to manage with lies late he said like " this will not happened again" . Here the scenario is like we are paying huge rs.30 per idli and getting used sambar box for stone idli and rotten smelled chutney. Here where is hygiene , quality of food is present? Is this the way they care about their customers, so you peoples are not worried about customers health. Only motto is yielding money?

There are multiple branches across the city but this time I had visited Velachery restaurant which is very near to phoenix mall and on the main road. They will serve you on Coconut leaf 🍃 and you will enjoy their traditional way of serving with excellent food taste and quality. Multiple varieties of idly, dosa, Wada, uttappam etc. Highly recommended and must visit. Sharing few photos. 😊

Very tasty food. They serve different varieties of chutnies too. Adjacent to Besant Nagar beach. Ambience (broken ceiling, AC) could be repaired. Long queue during peak hours. Jigarthanda available just outside.

To justify the name, they have lots of dosa and idly varieties. Sweet pongal is good but it floats in ghee 😛 Decent vegetarian restaurant for dosa and idly lovers. Very small space so you don't get much privacy as the tables are closely placed. Speciality is their variety of chutneys, remember you have to pay 10 rupees extra for podi.

Online Ordered Rava dosai and Ghee podi iddli from this restaurant..not only did they miss to deliver the dosai,below photo( not sure if it is burnt or something else)is what we received. Extremely disappointed with the service

Went to have Jigarthanda. Murugan Idli shop being famous for Jigarthanda, was not as expected. I had previous experience in Nanganallur branch of Murugan Idly shop where it was very good. Here, I rate the Jigarthanda below average.

Food is really delicious, it's a bit expensive tho. Whatever you order comes with variety of chutuneys and Ghee Podi Dosa is a must try.

Negative star rating not available .....Worst customer service....no respect at all...better close this branch....because taste is no where like murugan idli shop.....roadside shop is giving better taste. I would like to mention about worst customer service given by a black guy...he literally scolded with bad words at the back of me.....this is like railway station toilet ....so my kind request to management is train your service people with how to behave with everyone....or better to close the shop permanently.....

The jigirdhanda is absolutely amazing! I would go there just for that. The ambience is good too. And it's fully vegetarian.

Murugan Idli is one my favourite idli spot in Chennai. I am also a fan of their Onion Uthappam. The quality has deteriorated over the last few years. Still a good option for vegetarian options (idli and dosa). Do try the podi idli, podi onion uthappam as well. They do have nice medhu vada which goes well with idli.

Overall the food taste was good. Idli was very soft, fresh and had the amazing taste Even if u try dosa you will fell you did not waste it. I will say you should try Murugan if possible.

Food quality is best. Providing 3 chutney and Sambar for Idli. Some chutney doesn't tastes good. We also tried their Idli batter. It's very good in taste.

Last week visited the Hotel. On Menu the things looks great, but taste wise it is not so, the chutneys are average. The items are costly. The environment also not good.

I have ordered spl tiffen via swiggy, which had a worst uthappam with an enormous size and two idily and one Vada with 3 rotten (Kettu ponna) chatney and sambar. Don't choose for brand, i don't know how they selling like this, who orders food by giving money. These people are unfit to be in food business.

Not even worth for single star. Poor service. Whatever you need you have to ask them more then 4times (Looks like unsatisfied employees)..important thing is if you are visiting after 3PM. Pls make sure all the chutny items are good or not. They served spoiled chutny for me. Interesting part is others having without asking any question. Guys pls don’t go for a brand wise. This place is loacted at velachery. Went with my friend around 7:30 in the evening.. we asked what food they have.. the server said they have only dosa and pongal.. i was surprised.. enada idhu.. then we ordered 1 dosa, 1 ven pongal and 1 chakara pongal (sweet). The highlight was they served us 5 different varieties of chutneys.. all were super good.. worth it was.. quite costly.. but the only disappointment was they did not serve the food in banana leaf..

Inspite of lean business they give good service. Tiffin is served on plantain leaf which is satisfying. But only when normalcy returns, we can expect more variety of tiffin items. These hotels survive due to regular customers. Let us pray that pandemic will go out by December 21 and economy will be back on track.
