I wanted to eat outside, but something healthy, and boy did I choose the best place for that. The items on the menu are so innovative, and the food was totally delicious. Some of this dishes we ordered are millet dosa, ragi thatte idly and jackfruit biriyani. The biriyani rice is also a variety of millet. Their peanut chutney is just smack. We were disappointed with their sweet potato fries because we expected something like wedges, but it turned out to be sweet potato chips. The best part, even their water tasted so good. They had added cloves and jeera, and made us keep drinking more and more. Finally there was some yummy kasi halwa for dessert. The staff were super friendly, they helped us pick some good stuff from the menu. My only suggestion is that the place needs to be maintained better. The sink was clogged, and the place itself was a bit dusty.

Disaster. Even if they are thinking this as a donation (like a free food serve), they should have some basic sense. Despite the high cost they charge, they are least bothered on service and nothing is served hot. Again, a total disaster. Top it all, we had to use their wash room and that's another nightmare, the way they maintain it.... (like a trash collection for months....) Update / reply >>> Reason for using Nightmare - that's the same word used by my wife, and her viewpoint towards a proper washroom is always key for a restaurant. (For revisit) and the cover was like a collection of soap covers and toiletries trash, for like months in a crowded triplicane gents mansion. And food, even steamed rice was not hot. And towards raising these concern there itself(which is really sensible and I usually opt to), the person in charge at billing did not even respond sensibly for my first concern on highlighting that no one even took the order for quite along time. And he was busy on his world/work/mobile. So this outburst is justified for me and needed to be highlighted to the person responsible to make this a better place "AGAIN". (If they are keen)

When ur stomach is full, mind is at peace and heart swells with joy, It means you have had a soulful food. To experience it, drop by Prems grama bhojanam in Adyar. Authentic recipes and not the regular one. This place serves unique food made out of millets. The ambience is a bit out of shape. Thanks to the pandemic that has dried up many small business pockets. But don't worry about the hygiene. The food is healthy and it's served with pure love and consciousness. We got the opportunity to be served by the (owner) Mr.Krishnamoorthy who narrated the story of the food we ate. On menu was, millet idly, pongal, pesaruttu, ragi sevai, payasam and the best ginger chutney.

It's one of the best millet restaurants around Adyar. It's very helpful for elderly people and diet conscious people 😁 Hotel atmosphere is look an home, you can't expect luxury environment and AC 😉 Best Food at a very affordable price.

Quality: one of the best place out there to try out your traditional dish, even be serving water or the choice of side dishes. Quantity: So low that you will be forced to buy rice as extra. Some of the menu items were not available. Overall: for the given price, the quality is top notch, but the quantity is really less.

Their Mini tiffin comprising of Thatte idly, Paniyaram, Benne Dosa & Panagam was top notch. Kola urundai was the show stealer. You just can't stop with 1 or 2. Everything that was served was Hot, tasty and fresh. The Owner and the staff are very courteous. Parking might be a problem. Parking is roadside. Quite a few items from the menu were not available. The cleanliness of the wash area and restroom should be improved greatly.

A Google search promoted me to land in this place.. Tucked in a quiet place, the restaurant has just 8 to 10 tables.. They serve healthy millet based food and the taste was quite good.. The variety is kind of limited but very tasty.. The service was fantastic.. My mom wanted no garlic no onion food and they specially prepared this as well.. Car park is easy as the road is empty.. Overall a good experience..

This restaurant was in our radar for quite sometime but somehow couldn't go there. Finally on the last day of 2022, went to this restaurant with the family. Absolutely no complaints about the quality of the food served here. We tried yellow pumpkin soup, kola urundai, ragi ghee roast, rava dosai, thattu idli and oothappams. All tasted so good along with two types of chutneys and sambar. Peanut chutney was different and worked out to be great accompaniment for the main dishes. Service was also super quick and the person explained us about the different millets used in our orders very well. However on the flip side couple of observations a) wash basin area was not that clean and the stink from wash room was very evident near wash basin itself b) plates and tumblers were not cleaned properly. I had to ask the person to change the plate and also stopped drinking water after seeing the condition of the glasses. Overall good experience with focus on millets.

I had the opportunity of visiting this place for lunch yesterday. The Ambience is nice and welcoming and Service here is always fast and we were attended to immediately. At Prem’s Graama Bhojanam it’s not just the Food which is healthy even their water is healthy with herbs infused. The food took a bit of time which is acceptable considering that they make everything fresh. Overall this is a Must Visit place if you enjoy your food.

After a week of vacation and too tired to cook lunch. We went to Prems Graama bhojanam for a quick lunch on a weekday. Surprisingly the restaurant was crowded and busy serving lunch. Pros Healthy similar to home cooked meals. Less oil and more millet options. Tried and liked👍 Plantain stem soup ( good and refreshing) Keerai vadai Apollo paneer Organic traditional meals Millet meals( outstanding) Chapathi and soya chunks gravy ( good) Veg Kola urundai( not cooked and too spicy) Cons Hygiene and atmosphere inside the restaurant area and wash area needs lots of improvement. Starters served in small steel bowls( not impressive and clean)

My hyper sensitive stomach forces me to be very careful with what I eat. If my stomach feels normal or good after eating out somewhere, it is a sure sign that the food is great! So, one afternoon, my wife and I tried this restaurant. The menu is a hodge podge of colors and things tough to pronounce. The good waiter offered a terse, one-line explanations for our questions. Not wanting to push our luck, we went with what we knew: white (thooya malli) rice meals with 3 spinach (keera) vadais on the side. And the food was DELICIOUS. Everything was great. Thankfully, I'd chosen the 'unlimited' option and got extras of the cabbage poriyal, keera kootu, appalam, and even ada payasam. The keera vadai was fresh, hot, perfectly fried, and crumbled in that perfect way, releasing steam, when pinched apart. It tasted as good as it looked and felt. Though some tables were vacant when took ours, the incoming lunch crowd quickly snapped up all the tables and seats. The waiters were busy and their attention was tough to capture. Nevertheless, our waiter was a nice fellow who did his best. The price they charge is commensurate with the ingredients they use - organic millets and traditional rice. Worth it if you'd like to try the various rices. My stomach felt happy, full, and comfortable. I would definitely eat here when I am in Chennai again.

Their very claim of healthy food (whether that is the case is an entirely different matter) is squashed right at the presentation of the food, serving all the hot sambars, rasams, payasams, etc., etc., in plastic/paper cups. Really don't understand why would they do this when those paper cups are even banned by the government declaring them as health hazards for regular users. Even very small hotels without any of those fancy claims serve them in stainless steel cups, if at all they have to serve them in cups. Kindly don't put a customer's health at stake just because you want to save manpower or time by avoiding washing vessels. Also make sure to clean the tables once the food is done. Really surprised to see that no one pointed out this important issue to the owner and I am sure if it had been pointed out, he would have totally avoided this.

Excellent millet style food... their lunch meal is good option during lunch time. Rasam was ultimate! Nice ambience and cleanliness maintained. Table is too small for 4, but otherwise full points for the village style food.

Visited this place when I was on a short trip to Chennai and was suggested by one member in a facebook foodie group. We happened to visit one day and Onam Sadya was being served that day. He was patient enough to explain in detail all the dishes and with what they were made. After this we went again to have their millet meals which is what they are famous for. All the items were freshly made and you will have home cooked vibes. The hospitality was really good and they made us feel home. They even served us Dosa and Thatte Idli made completely with millets.

I used to frequent this place when I was in Adyar. This was one of two places that used to serve millet-based food. Be warned that you cannot eat the same quantity as regular rice. Millets are very heavy and not all will like the taste. I absolutely loved it. The place used to be on Sardar Patel Road, fairly near my office. They have since moved and now occupy the premises marked here (on Google Maps). The food is good, the quantity equally so. You can get only millet-based food here. Those looking for rice items, or even pickle and papad won't find it here. The kali kalavai and ragi rotis were my favourite items. The meals can be pretty heavy. Those not used to millets had better not go in for full meals, but rather opt for mini meals. The sweet and kulfi are also worth trying. For a healthy alternative to rice, at a decent price, you could try this out. You even get millet based snack items here.

This is one of the places where we walked in looking at the name board and were very happy we did that. Since we started millets at home three years ago, we know the efforts that go in curating a meal for palates only used to only rice/wheat. Mr.Krishnamoorthy and his team do a splendid job of crafting just the right meal for you. We had the well presented 4 millets thali was rich and fulfilling as a meal. Didn’t feel stuffed, nor did we feel hungry even several hours later. The dessert made with jaggery was delicious and reminded me of the aravana payasam that is part of the Sabarimala prasadam. It turns out they use the same kind of jaggery. There is a different spread each for breakfast, lunch & dinner. The décor has a lot of wood and is very functional. We only planned on having a millet lunch and were happy to have chanced upon this place while walking around in the Chennai heat. We sampled some vadas - prepared like meatballs but made from soya & packed with protein. Got to meet the owner and heard the back story and the thought behind the restaurant. Millets don’t come cheap but the meals are well priced and there’s certainly no compromise on taste. On Sundays, they offer jackfruit(small & raw) biriyani which is finger licking good. A ‘must visit’ restaurant in Chennai.

Must visit for anyone looking for healthy food in Chennai. I never thought millet would be so delicious. Millet special meals and panagam is a must try. Coconut jaggery burfi which is sold in pre packed boxes tasted very good, was fresh and made with pure ghee and jaggery.

Food was okay but the service was the worst I have experienced for a restaurant with above average rates. Nothing much on ambience. Tables were quite small. Had a Uthappam platter, Kozhukottai, couple of different dosas, kola Urundai. Except Kozhukottai nothing much to comment about. Only one chutney was good. Never was served water even after 5 reminders. Had to take it from adjacent table. Even if the food is prepared with millets and rates being high, taste and service was a huge letdown. Probably my first and last visit to this outlet.

5 stars are way too less to describe the kind of experience you have here. Its a restaurant driven by an undying passion to share age old recipes with the population. One must visit this place whenever you get the opportunity. An experience like no other.

Loved this restaurant for its no frills , clean mess. Good homely food. Panagam was a good thirst quencher. Loved their entrance with little black sticker board for children to draw and spend time. For my standards, felt the traditional south meals little spicy..

Good quality traditional food served in good environment. Millet rice taste was very good. Sambar rice, Rasam Sadham and curd rice with Millet rices. Service is little late and we need to wait a little bit to get the food served. The halwa tasted very good.

Probably one of the best millet foods that you can get in the city.. I have always been their fan for their chutneys and sambar which they provide with millet Dosas.. Their Red rice and Thooyamalli rice meals are all tasty and good. Don’t forget to try their Kaara kuzhambu that comes with the meals. I wanted to try something light and ordered Millet curd rice with vadai.. It was nice and it came with some thuvayal as a side dish. Those who think you need to have a healthy food, do visit or order from them 👍🏻

This place served dishes so fast that we couldn't keep up with eating them. Starting from water everything tasted good here. I can't tell that they were made with millets and their chutneys are super good too. My family liked the food and you have to be careful when ordering dosa because all of them are not crispy. If you want crispy dosa, ask for that. Their sweet potato masala was a great combo for the dosa. The place looks like it needs some sprucing up. For serving traditional millets based foods, the restaurant theme is a mishmash of a roadside eatery with Formica tables and clean but not very inviting.

Visited Prems Graama Bhojanam in Adyar for the first time, based on a friend's recommendation. It was well worth the trip. They have nailed the golden trifecta of eating out -- taste, price, and health! Added bonuses are the mindful service and generous portions. We loved the Red Rice Utthappam, and Benne Dosa. The millet "thattu idli" was astonishingly soft. Sides were awesome too, especially the peanut chutney. The panagam and lightly flavored drinking water were a pleasant surprise. The ambience is homely, with comfortable functional seating and simple decor. We will certainly be visiting again. NOTE: We were so eager to get at the yummy food that we entirely missed taking photos, except for this pic of a wall decoration!

This place is very specific in the type of food it serves and it does a very good job at it. The ambience is great. It's essentially a home and considering the type of food served, it is fitting and gives an authentic feel. The price is very reasonable, cheap even consider the taste of the food. And coming to the food, almost every single dish in the menu tastes very different from what I am used to eating and makes me come back for more. I initially had reservations about the menu, but it is a must try for everyone, even if you don't like such good, as I am sure you will come to enjoy it.
