I am from North Part of India. Recently got posted to Chennai. I was trying all the traditional south Indian food after googling I have been there. But got disappointed as only limited dish available. Although restaurant is empty still they took so much time to serve that the appetite died. Ambience and price is fine but overall experience i can say not recommended at all. See the condition of their special and best dosa😪

The taste of the food was average and we found it very oily. The place is easy to find and has decent options. The service is also just average. Dishes ordered: Fried Rice Ghee Roast Paneer Dosa Plain Dosa Spring roll Meals

Hello Tamil Nadu, I am traveller from Hyderabad, exploring places suggested by the internet and posting reviews on my trip to Puducherry 3 Pillars of a good restaurant 1. Taste - Being the most famous restaurant of TamilNadu, Sarvana bhavan does have the most authentic south indian food of all times. This ofcourse doesn’t mean that its the best south indian restaurant. Sambar and Coffee - The greatest must try items. Sambar idli and filter coffee of this place is exceptional. Ghee dosa tasted good but somehow I personally felt that there was a lot of Palm-oil too. 2. Ambience - Needs to work on it big time. Basics like the tables and chairs are not cleaned. The bathroom is shady and unhygienic. Juice counter is a nightmare. They are not a cheap restaurant chain and are expected to better maintain the place 3. Price - I can’t say its over priced on a menu level. Ordered 3 dosas and 2 idlis and 3 coffees and the bill was 800 So 800 for 5 people on an overall basis for the taste and ambience is not justified but is acceptable because of the brand value Like if you find it helpful ❤️

Visited this place only for filter coffee, coffee was not like before but was OKish. I guess Saravana Bhavan should maintain their taste and quality.

The restaurant has become pathetic, absolutely yukie in terms of maintenance and hygiene! Terrible with no car parking facility too. I was shocked to see a SB restaurant being this bad. Only fans, no ac too.

We tried poori, sambar vada and mini tiffen. Quality was great, thankfully this branch isn't as bad as other SB's which is going towards a downfall. But just as we thought everything was decent, we had filter coffee which was very bad. Had too much chicory due to which it was very bitter. Then we got the bill, was shocked to see the price. Mini tiffen was 150, when you can get same or better mini tiffen at their own competition. Like A2B, Akshayam, Sangeetha etc. Total bill was 380. Could be priced definitely lower for the quality of food and interior hygiene.

Went with normal expectation of saravana Bhavan taste but was totally disappointed. Service was good. The place is quite spacious in the first floor which is non AC and 2 ND and 3rd floor with good AC. Have had food here thrice. The taste was totally inconsistent and disliked the food served twice. When it started it was horrible though it had more people than customers in the shop. Has a good parking facility in the ground floor. Breakfast: Vada was once so hard. Other time it was too small. Poori was nice and fluffy but no masala was given. Once masala inside the masala dosa was not nice. Chutneys tasted ordinary while sambar taste was quite the same. Lunch I tried the expensive thali meals. Utterly disappointing. Somehow the edge they had over other veg hotels is gone. They are pretty ordinary with their brand being established, I guess they are not doing the right thing in focusing on taste and being consistent in it. My recommendation. For meals please don't consider. Maybe for tiffen you can consider if you are ok with high prices for ordinary food with a brand. Coffee has the tradional classic taste.

Usually no wait is there, last time I visited I got a seat for my family. 6. They won't accept prior order. 7. Dine-in available with SELF-SERVICE 8. Pets are not allowed inside 9. This hotel is situated in 1st floor with lift facility available 10. No wheel-chair entrance and wheel-chair seating available 11. No high chair available 12. When I searched for Vegetarian restaurant, I found this hotel. 13. This hotel has variety of coffee and tea (though they say, but just tea and coffee is available). 14. You can dine-in alone 15. Kids menu available such as idly, dosa, 16. No alcohol is allowed. 17. Free road side parking available 18. Cash, UPI, NFC, Credit and debit cards are applicable Note: 1. If you want to have a quick bite, then this hotel is okay, else find some other nearby restaurants. 2. It is a SELF-SERVICE hotel. Area of improvement: 1. Atmosphere - please do clean the table, and the place. 2. Stinks bit bad. 3. Tumblers and water is not clean 4. Maintenance should be given high priority. 5. Ladies and Gents washroom - Not suggested here. Zero maintenance.

Worst maintenance, stinking smell everywhere. Chapathi kuruma was salty. Saravanabhavan these days are not at all recommended.

Most unhygienic place. Food was served on uncleaned tables and the seating was also not cleaned. All sorts of food materials were seen on the seats. They never bothered to clean the place. Noisy. Utensils cleaning was taken up behind curtains in the dining area. Prone to spread diseases.

They are charging sky high, no need to go there, we have many options with same quality and good service on cheaper price. They don't give the menu, so price is hidden part. 2 ghee roast, 3 coffee and idly set to cost you 600 Rs which in a non ac restaurant with sticky and dirty tables. The coffee was bitter than experience they gave us. Wake up management of SHB. Chennai is not anymore only SHB.

Could be better. Previously it was good and nowadays I see only average taste foods wth no hygiene. Lacks in taste and price is too high like premium restaurants. Normal roadside shops are better now compared to Saravana bhavan in hygiene and taste.

Saravanabhavan has lost its taste. Bad food and ambiance is worse

Who gives dal for chapathi? This saravan bhavan does, when question Kurma would be ready only by 4.00 pm itseems! Its a shame to eat here! Don't be fooled by the name! They have gone out of market long time!

The place could do with some serious deep cleaning. The tables were sticky and even the interiors were little dingy. Service standards were not the usual, we had to wait 15 mins before we got the menu card, the place was sparse with maybe 6 tables occupied. The supervisors in grey safari suit, a prominent feature of HSB were conspicuously absent. Maybe the pandemic had a role to play. The food was passable, something you get at other veg joints with less fancy brand name. Our bajjis and bondas were hot but oily. Filter coffee hit the spot though. Prices are moderate. But the buzz is certainly missing from HSB, they need to get their service standards up if they have to attract patrons in Adayar who have a lot of choices when it comes to veg food. Parking in the basement is a good feature.

Taste is not like before. We use to go Mylapore saravana bhavan. It's always great there. But Besant nagar branch we are not much satisfied with the taste. Butterscotch milkshake was very horrible. Only sugar. We dint finish also. Left half of the glass as it was. Went famished an came disappointed.

Service is pathetic. No one attended even after a long time. The plates weren't washed properly and lacked hygiene. There was no AC but stil charged the same as other premium AC restaurants. For any requests to waiters you will have to wait too long. Food was ok. The Vada given with food was a little bigger than a 2 rupee coin and not crispy but hard. Not visiting there any soon.

We did shopping in Adyar ,and went for lunch in saravana Bhavan . There is parking facility and also valet parking. Like the ambience . Staff are friendly. We ordered for business lunch , Tilly babycorn fried ,aloo paratha. All items were tasty. And ordered for curd rice and veg biriyani ,took home ,it was delicious. On the whole very good experience

Not good... Was served with juice without ice.. when we asked about it they are saying they are out of stock for ice cubes. Should have informed customer beforehand.

I chose the mini breakfast tiffin. The food was delicious.

Poor service, very slow. Dirty vessels, horrible attitude of staff. Water had dirty sediment floating on top. Please don't visit this place.

We had breakfast on a Sunday morning. Our first impression was very bad as the glasses and water was extremely dirty. Rava dosa was okish, poori was horrible. Vada was extremely bad. Service was bad. Plates were not washed properly, we could see traces of old food on the plates. Overall worst place to have breakfast, will never visit again.

Food is good..place was clean but crowded and not much ventilation keeping in view the covid situation..in just Rs 200 one can have tummy full food..parking space at the ground floor and dinning area at 1st floor.

Ate lunch today 18/05/22. No a/c. Construction going on with good chance of getting injured while going in and coming out. Water not available on tap for washing. Servers are worst. Quantity and quality is very bad. For 140Rs I can go to 2 different unlimited and tasty meals nearby.

Very poor service. It took more than 20 mins to take an order. The service was very poor.

It's hotel with rich history, the food taste hasn't chaged little. They still serve the best 14 idly( my personal opinion). But for the past few days the signature red chutney was missing due to rise in price of tomato. The parking is space is ample. When it gets crowded parking might become a problem.

We had masala dosa, ghee roast. But it was served cold. Chutney's are good.

We went in for lunch. The place is clean and the staffs are very friendly. But I felt that food taste is not as good as before. But a nice place with a view of the bustling roads. A must try

Yesterday I had food at night where sambar and kuruma was worst. Atleast i thought i can have good coffee however that is even worst when compare to food.

Had been for Breakfast to Saravana Bhavan in Adyar at 8 in the morning. Food was tasteless, cold and of very poor quality. To add the icing, had ordered coffee and coffee was really Sad. Not a place to visit at all. Absolutely sad show with quality and service

Adayar Saravana Bhavan food quality is worst now a days. Quality rice is served here. Try near by Ratna cafe

Saravana bhavan post lockdown is a little different. The cleanliness was a little disappointing but their sambar idlies and podi dosas are still unparalleled
