Avoid this restaurant during the weekend. I ordered and received meals without Rice, Sweet, Poriyal. Initially sweet came in half a piece. After multiple follow up, received another half piece of Sweet. Received a cup of rice after 33 minutes. What's the purpose of having meals here by paying almost 229/- per meals ??? Weekend crowd is a usual thing and still not able to guess the weekend crowd is a lack in management. Which spoils the reputation of the hotel. Just take this as a wake-up call and improve the service and food availability during the weekend with less acceptable waiting period.

Good was good. However not extraordinary. I feel that the Kalyana Thaligai is a bit overpriced. Service was extremely good. Will go back to try other items

The food quality is really class! But rice is not unlimited in meals, for one more bowl of rice we have to pay. Very unlike most of the hotels where meals will have unlimited rice. The cost is also quite high for meals without unlimited rice. They can look into this, once again the quality was really good.

Recently visited this restaurant after coming across through Social media posts. Reached there by 8PM and got the table immediately. Menu does not contain fancy items but some of the forgotten dishes of our land. Tried some of their specialities and they all tasted good. Overall good food at a reasonable price. Note: Parking is mostly on the road side only.

This place is inspired by traditional Tamil Brahmin cusine. They serve a full wedding meal in the afternoon that is simply fantastic. Their traditional tiffin items served in the evening will make you come here for more.

Was recommended by my friends and family. An amazing place for authentic and traditional tiffin items....Enjoyed the morkali, idiyappam with fresh coconut milk, sevai and morkozhambu. The Rasam vada was very tasty, rasam could have been served hot though.... Enjoyed the experience of dining here.

We heard great things about Thaligai. But unfortunately we were left wanting. We were a group of 12 with ages ranging from 10 to 75. Initially we were told only thali meals was available along with variety rice. But we could see other tables being served with Dosa and rotis! Upon inquiry, they realized they had more items to offer us and caused us to rethink our entire order. Food - taste was acceptable. No garlic in any of the dishes. However it was on the bland side. They did provide mango curry pickle which spiced up our taste buds but the combination of pickle and sambhar is definitely not right! We ordered Kalyana thali, sapta swara thali, ghee roast, roti, boli, curd vada n ice cream. Service - they did try to set things right from the initial fiasco and giving us a complementary boli and curd vada. Im confused how to rate them because initially we were ready to walk out but then we did finish our food and they were around to help us even when the other tables were full. View - you can try once but don't have your hopes too high before going in. The restaurant was crowded by the time we finished so this may be a place that suits many other taste buds - just not ours!

Nice ambience, courteous staff. Parking is available. Lift is also available at the back entrance (to note for senior citizens). The food was nice with homely taste. All items were freshly prepared after ordering. Hence took a longer time to serve. Meanwhile, as it was just opposite AVM rajeswari mandapam and luckily a wedding reception was going on which was easily visible from the table we were seated, we could see the big monitor display outside the wedding hall. We tried their diamond masala dosa, ghee dosa, poori masala and vazhapoo vadais.

Carrying forward the legacy of the legendary 'Pattappa' is Thaligai.  For the uninitiated, he is the celebrated ceremonial chef of erstwhile Tambrahm circles of Chennai. True to it's calling, the dine is decent with no frills - simple and modest. The lunch - elai sappadu, is sumptuous. What's more interesting is their evening menu - mor kali, rasavadai, sevai with morkuzhambu, vazhapoo vadai, adai avvial and many more. The badam halwa is a must try and their filter kaapi is heavenly, thanks to a liberal mix of chicory. A variety of vaththals, vadaams, podis, pickles, sweets and snacks are available off the shelf and are priced a tad bit high. Service is mostly indifferent and can be refined. If authentic South Indian Tambrahm food is your craving, this is the place to be.

Tasty, quality and homely vegetarian food without onion and garlic. Clean and well maintained restaurant. Polite staff and good service. Good "combo options" for food at reasonable price and good quantity. Individual food items price may be on a little higher side, however, the quality & the taste is not compromised. This is one of the good restaurants option for vegetarians in this area.

The food was simple and good. Sumptuous and authentic Tam brahm food. No onion and no garlic in the food. Service was fine. Unlimited portions on the thali. Parking was available. Ambience a bit below par. They served independence day tricolor puri. Nice touch.

I was tempted by the lavish reviews to visit this place to have my lunch with my family. Spacious, on ground and first floor, the dining halls are well lit, cool, with good seating arrangements. Good ambience and soft spoken staff. The disappointment came only when the food was served. Of course the South Indian food was served by traditional dhoti clad Staff on big banana leaf. Number of Varieties were there like Curries, Koottu, Sambhar, Rasam, chips, vattha kuzhambu, Appalam, but the taste was ordinary. Homely type but not of high standard. As I have been visiting the restaurants for a number of years, I felt it can be improved for the price being paid. The menu is exhaustive, Meals as well as a la carte items are available. Payment can be made by cash, card or through dineout etc. Parking is on the road only.

Went for lunch and ordered thali. There is a Sunday special Kalyana thali, which is absolutely delicious. They serve a variety of foods including, but not limited to poriyal, dal, sambar, ram, curd rice, 2 sweet varieties. A must visit restaurant with great service.

The food wasn't good enough to either be worthy of the price or the cuisine (south indian saapad.. we have had better and tastier saapad elsewhere) We were served with cold sambar, the podi tasted sweet, chips were stale, order of items was not correct.. received welcome drink and sweet after finishing half saapad and of all.. the service was late and pathetic.

TASTE NOT THAT GOOD Most of the customer will be #AVA And taste suites only for #AVA Longer waiting time due to #AVA takes more time to finish lunch. Costly Because #AVA area & AVA have more money.

We heard a lot about the place and hence stopped by for an authentic breakfast. The waiter was unable to get our order customization. The medhu vada wasn't properly cooked, the inside batter was wet and uncooked. We asked the waiter and he immediately replaced with another set of vadas. The same issue with the replaced set too. The other items that we had were very good. Just that my high expectations of the place weren't met.

I am just coming out after having unlimited special meals. The food is good, taste is not bad. However, my overall experience was horrible. You need to be good at waving and yelling violently to get the batters to attend to your table. The air conditioning was just selectively cooling some parts of the restaurant and I was unlucky to be outside such selective coverage, with the hot afternoon sun slapping on my back with no shade or blinds on the glass window. I would recommend this restaurant only to those who have a lot of time and patience and used to the culture of yelling for food.

Go-to place for veg authentic food! Elders would love this food. Recommeding to practice these foods for kids and young gen also to have at least once in a month. Restaurant deserve a huge applaud for their way of cooking and serving ! We tried mor kali with vathakulambu, elai vadam with pulimulaga, sevai , rava dosai. Each dish has an authentic touch and best treat to all your taste glands. Kudos to the management and notable point is reasonable cost!

Went couple of years back at the time their opening. Had to wait over 20 minutes for a table. Authentic Tamil food with no frills attached. Visited again after a while and saw quite bit of changes. Their decor has significantly improved and so is their offering. Their breakfast menu offered a good spread and I went for their combo offer.

Thaligai is a casual, clean restaurant serving a menu of vegetarian Tamil Nadu dishes, and it also had the distinction of using no garlic or onion in any of its dishes. On my visit, I tried their two Saturday special dishes. First, the Diamond Masala Dosa was a giant rice and lentil batter crepe containing a spicy filling of potatoes mixed with tomatoes, and served with coconut chutney, tomato chutney, and sambar on the side. The dosa had a distinctly sour, fermented flavor, though it wasn’t as crispy as it could’ve been, and the chutneys and sambar were definitely not as flavorful as others I’ve had. Second, the Adai Avial was a Tamilnadu breakfast dish, composed of adai dosas, or savory pancakes made with besan and rice flour mixed with spices, served with avial, a soup made of mixed vegetables (including green beans, carrots, and gourd), coconut milk, and curd. The adai dosa was flavorful and crispy and was a nice protein-rich dish that went nicely with the avial.

I had bought a packet of thenkuzal last week to give to my guests for Navaratri. Being in a hurry, I picked the item that a beautiful wrapping and left. My cousin who was the recipient of the packet was good enough to tell me that it had the date 12th Sep ( more than a month old) and that it smelt stale. I have now apologised to 2 other recipients who would have been too embarrassed to disclose this to me. Why would a place with such a good reputation sell something like this especially during the festive period.

The restaurant was completely empty at 8 am in the morning. Quite a contrast to the packed atmosphere at lunch time. It's a big place, so the emptiness looms large. And we spotted only one lone person behind the billing counter, so the restaurant was open for business. The view from the glass panels overlooks Radhakrishnan Salai and the traffic was light. We ordered a rava masala dosa, a godhumai (wheat) dosa and coffee. While the rava dosa was light and flaky, the masala inside was uneven, with unboiled chunks of potatoes. The kindest thing one can say is that you hope they'll hit their stride and get better over time

Fantastic food quality. Nothing else matters. The decor is a bit confused, waiting staff - so so, parking staggered. But when the food is as good as this, nothing else matters to me. Everything else can be improved but if food isn't great nothing else matters. Keep up the good work.

The service needs to be improved. The service personnel are displaying reaction less faces and hardly speak. The pricing needs to be reviewed. The expected josh in the taste of dishes is missing. Authorities may review and take appropriate remedial action including imparting trainin to the staff and closer supervision on taste of dishes. Good luck.

Taste is good. Presently new management has taken over. Tiffin can be ordered as per our wish. Quality is very good and Thaligai attracts high number of customers. Days to come the space in restaurant will not be sufficient and they have to expand. One main drawback is lack of parking space. 1st floor is given for concerts and for mini function.

Dosa tastes like made of castor oil. And you know how combo breakfast pricing works.. add up the individual items price there you go get combo price, the cleaning happens during customer hours so you can supervise how good it is. Service is like.. the loneliest you can feel in those Natgeo shows in the middle of the jungle. SoS calls may help. Overpriced and zero value for money... Only good thing is the instrumental music. Basically செவிக்கு உணவில்லாத போது சிறிது வயிற்றிற்கு ஈயப்படும்
