I've always loved going to BOATS. It's a calm, soothing spot that offers every delicious food and drink you might want to have after a good day at the beach. Me and my friends visited the place around evening on New Year, and I'm so glad I went there. Of, plus, the Beach view would be splendid if you go to the Balcony! The staff were all polite and helpful, and they were prompt of course. The food was delicious, completely fulfilling. We had cheesy nachos, fries, Mac & Cheese and more. Our drinks were all served well with the right blend. My Long Island Iced Tea felt good with just a tiny little buzz. I'd visit boAts more as I'm now so attached to this place!

One of the most popular restrobar in Chennai. With its prime location near Bessy beach this place pulls more crowd than any other Restrobars in Chennai. This place is mostly fully packed so better to book a table (No stags are allowed). They have AC-Non smoking and Non-AC SMOKING areas. IPL SCREENINGS happen here and so book your table for any CSK vs MI match to feel the vibes😅. They offer decent varities of beer and most of the hard liquor. We tried many starters and every dish was very good. I personally liked "Pulled pork Tacos". Finally, ended with some of their signature deserts and was satisfied. The staffs are very friendly

We had Nasi goreng, tandoori platter and mac and cheese. The food were tasty. Everything tasted good. We had a pitcher and cosmopolitan, vodka sunrise cocktails as well. The only concern was the seating. We were seated in smoking area and the 2 seater there was very uncomfortable. The table size was also very small that I doubt it could hold all the things you could add which is really a concern here. When we informed that we were uncomfortable to the staff and asked to change our seating to 4 seater which was empty, they said that we will have to move back again if the 4 seater has to be occupied which is understandable but fails at customer satisfaction..

I've been to this place a lot of times before. Suddenly they have started allowing only members it seems. I was curious and I wanted to know since when. The guy at the front desk said since the beginning.. I couldn't help but laugh. I mean who even employs such amateurs.. anyways the place ain't that great except for the food. Only reason it's surviving is cos it's close to beach

My experience here is sort of ok. Pros; BOATS here has a locational advantage being in a prime locatio . valet parking. Decent menu Cons: Unreasonable wait time Poor service We order appetizers.while the drinks were served immediately.The appetizers and main course take an insane time close to 2 hours to deliver and the order was mixed up.we got our main course delivered post dessert serving which sort of killed the experience. Food was decent enough. I gave 3 stars hoping it's a offday for them and hope usually they have a better service than this. But for a first timer it was a forgettable experience and I would give it a miss going forward .

They don't communicate properly. In phone they confirmed that they allow stags but in person they denied saying they received a lot of bookings. Worst part is this is for lunch time. Tragic experience ever. Thankfully there are a lot of better places who don't have these unnecessary rules.

A lovely bar with the beach view. We went here during their Kerala food festival and all the items were excellent. The interiors of this place is very cutely done. The crowd is awesome.

From Velankanni Church walk straight far 2km. At the dead end of the Besant Nagar beach, BOATS is located which serves you chill drink and food. Perfect in summer to chill down with friends, solo travellers and couples. Menu here is limited but tasty, if you have membership your wallet is saved. Anybody with Rs.1000 looking for resto bar nearby a beach, just enter this place with an ID card. You can have a drink of 30ml (alcohol) for Rs.500, or 350ml/600ml of Pint/KF for Rs.500, along with any dish for Rs.500.

Absolutely weird place and weird treatment of customers. Just very very strange. The general feeling is that customers should be very greatful to be allowed here. ( Came as a couple, not even stag) This place is one of the top reasons for chennai pub culture not growing

Very cozy place near to Bessy beach. Nice ambient but with a lesser seating capacity. Live singer with guitar 🎸 is a cool initiative, but could be better for the hype given for entering in the resto. The whole crew were so friendly and cool. Food was good too

Fans in smoking area sucks they don’t serve the purpose since the beach view is present in the smoking area, we had to choose that area for chilling unfortunately it has poor air ventilation in few seats and couple seating chair and table both sucks! We have to sit upright and can’t expect a relaxed seating. The table is also very small we have keep an eye on the dishes and drinks placed in.

I've been going here for years. Love the place and love the staff. All of them are so friendly and empathy is on top of their list. Visit them and see what I am talking about ! A big fan of their spicy kozhi vepudu and a chill beer. Reasonably priced for a bar in Chennai so longer drinking sessions feel more fulfilling 🤣

Highly recommend!! 5star overall, 5star+ for service alone. I wanted to arrange a nice lunch for my mom on her birthday. I reached out to the restaurant through Google chat option, honestly I wasn't too hopeful to receive a response but I got a response quite quickly from Raghu, I continued to chat with him on WhatsApp. Well, what can I say, he took care of everything right from cake to flowers, from decorations to recommending options from the menu and beyond. At my request, he made his staff click pics/video and shared it with me. My mom is delighted with the special queen-like treatment she got :) and very pleased with the service. My parents loved the food and the ambiance of the restaurant. With all my heart I thank Raghu and all the staff members who provided service beyond expectations. I will visit you , the next time I come to Chennai.

I just loved this place. Every Friday there is live musical performance, one what we could experience live and enjoy. We took a pitcher cocktail of 1000 ml capacity which is equivalent to 4 large drinks and is quite economical. Had a Korean chicken starter dish which was also very good. The ambience for boozing with your partner or friends is very well applauded. It is right besides Dindugal Thalapakakti biryani at Besant Nagar beach, Chennai. They have a outer section in the restropub where smoking is allowed and you can see the beach. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I had high expectations walking into the place based on the pictures but was let down by the upkeep of the exterior and interiors. They have a good spread of appetizers but I can't say the same for beers. They are 50% on the mark on cocktails. Would recommend their baby corn mushroom pepper and podi idli. Their milaga bajji had a cheese element which makes it a tad less spicy. Their service is on spot. Their non-AC section which has the best view is filled with smoke stench. They were probably awesome once but needs a genuine overhaul

BOAT is an average resto bar available very next to Bessy. The waiter wasn't sure about most of the names in the menu and whatever we asked for wasn't available too. The taste of the food was great but the quantity was less for it's price tag. Ambience is very average with some random loud music. Only valet parking is available so plan accordingly.

Absolutely loved the quirky decor, friendly staff and the delicious food 🔥 If you love mocktails definitely try Login to Bessy. It's the most refreshing drink I've ever had. The chicken tandoori platter was exquisite as was the Oreo caramelized apple crumble with ice cream. I'd literally go back just for the dessert.

I tried to reserve the seats two days before. When i called the number they told seats are available and they've reserved seats for us. But when we reached there, they were saying there is no reservation facility and only couple entry. We were asked to shift our seats in between. The ambience and food was good.. However not satisfied with the customer service.

A great place to hangout and dine. I've ordered pork tacos that was absolutely delicious 🤌🏻, we also ordered chicken skewers and it was sweet but at the same time flavourful. Would definitely recommend this place for hangout.

The RestoBar is located on the end of Elliott Beach... It's hard to find a Table on the weekends not just because of the location but also because they have some good Grub... The decor is pretty good and the tables are staggered along... They do have a few chairs overlooking the beach... One thing I love about this place is the Cocktails... They have an array of exquisite drinks and each one quite different from the other... We had ordered a few of the appetizers and each and every one were good... The Stuffed Mushrooms and the Nachos were pretty good... The Chicken Skewers were great and went really well with the dipping sauce... I would definitely recommend this place to hang out with friends... Or to just chill...

We went there during our Chennai trip. Its really nice restaurant to hang out. Its retro bar located near Besant Nagar beach . We enjoyed beer n prawns while listening to live music . You can make choice of songs from your own taste too. I enjoyed every bit of time spent there. Staff was very co-operative.

Sea food is great, but let down on atmosphere. I had Long beach ice tea and I loved it.

Okay place to go. Nothing to be gaga over. Its a bar, pretty dead on weekdays. Have had better food elsewhere. The area with the beach view is smoking. Can't think of one reason I will say this place is must go.

If you are going to Chennai, and want beach side place Boats is a perfect place. We went there around 9:00pm and it was very crowded. And actually it was Halloween theme there which was amazing. I enjoyed at this place and food was also good. I for sure suggest this place.

The food is amazing, the ambiance is perfect for a relaxed enjoyable weekend with friends. The prices are decent comparatively and the service is good.

Song choices were poor. French fries were decent. Drinks were too dilute. :/ didnt have a nice time, but nice place to gang out.

The service is nice, the food was lovely. It was a halloween night and the theme was perfect.. The only drawback was the sound decibel. It was too loud for my taste. If you want to talk to your friends while enjoying music, this is not a place I would recommend.

Super aesthetics and acoustics. Good and responsive staff. Food and drinks are Expensive. It had a smoking permit room. You can ask for your preference of music all you like.

BOATS is located on the north corner of Besant Nagar beach. A narrow entrance and staircase belies a large seating area on the first floor. There is a separate area for smokers and ample combination of seating. Food is the usual combination of nachos, paneer, thai etc. Taste is ok. We tried Achari paneer, mushroom, veg burger and Thai curry with steamed rice. Drinks were ok. Service was good. I felt drinks were diluted and brought to their notice. Otherwise, a place to enjoy an evening.

Ordered crispy lamb and honey chilli prawns alongside our individual drinks. Beautiful ambience and supportive staff. Really enjoyed our meal! Will definitely try to visit again!

I was here pre lockdown. The food is amazing. They have a variety of cheesy dishes that are to die for. The pastas were great too! The ambience is the *chefs kiss* Great booze too. A must visit if you’re in Chennai.

If you are going as a stag, please don't opt for this restaurant. They don't treat stags well(sepcially on weekend. Other days you might get lucky).They will ask the stag to seat on the smoking area which is non air conditioned and very warm given the weather here. You can opt for another restaurant cum bar which is very near to beach(The tiger house) while I am writing the review , i had to cancel out the order given at Boaats(since they changed my place thrice giving differand go for the tiger house. The process can spoil your weekend mood. If you are thinking of beach view, specially during night time nothing will be visible as the place is quite far from beach. If you are going as couple or group of friends, please pre book since the restaurant is congested and tables won't be free. For most of couples you need to share the table with other people (a long table in center of restaurant which can accommodate around 6 couples) STAGS PLEASE DON'T OPT THIS RESTAURANT. There are other restaurants nearby which can be preferred comfortably over BOATS.

Love the outdoor area. Chilli beef is a must try. And on Wednesday their buy two get one free on draught pitchers had us crawling back home
