Restaurant Bengali restaurant

👍 Had prawn malaikari here. Tasted the same tastes from back home, but the prawn gills needed to be cleared better. Others had pulao and kosha mangsho which too was terrific. The bhetki inside fish fingers were fresh too...so all in all had a decent experience. Will go again to try something else. People often mention good, Bengali, bengali, taste, fish, restaurant, authentic, Chennai, chicken, great,

A small restaurant in Perungudi known for authentic bengali dishes. As Petuk is permanently closed, this joint's popularity has increased. Tried chicken cutlet, koraishutir kochuri(puri with a stuffing of chickpeas) with aloo dum, chicken kasha,Prawn malai curry meal and Mishti doi. Taste wise decent experience. Staffs are extremely courteous. Ambience could have been better. Rating this restaurant three stars because some scopes of improvement are there in taste, ambience and hygiene. Final verdict- worth visiting if craving for bengali food in Chennai within reasonable price.

The food is just ok not that great that many say it is. The quality of kosha (both mutton and chicken) was not that great at all. The only thing which was upto the mark was fish curry. You give it a miss if you can.

If you want to taste proper Bengali food then Bengali Fun Foods is a must-go place. It serves typical bengali cuisines. My most favorites are fish meals, mutton and chicken biryani.

If you are searching for delicious and filling fish dishes then your search probably ends here. Unlike other restaurants and even good hotels where the taste of fish is usually lost because of deep frying and wrong choice of gravy (usually chicken gravy) , here you get a feel of homemade fish recepie. The quantity of fish served and the quality of gravy makes it a perfect choice in all sense.

This is where I gave my guests from Kolkata a treat the day before my marriage and everybody loved the food. Nobody could believe that in Chennai you can get such authentic Bengali food. 🙂

Nice place for Bengalis in Chennai. You will find an all Bengali atmosphere here. The owner, the staffs, all are Bengali, even the cook! Just need to be a bit more quick in service. But overall the food tastes good. One of the go to places for the Bengalis here in Chennai.

Ordered for thali, but the size of the plate was smaller than the plates we use in house.Only dhal and rice was available in thali and the rice was limited. Not worth the money. Absolute waste. Please don’t waste your money and time

Don't believe in these reviews which are totally fake... I literally saw the waiter taking the gravy from refrigerator. Food was not at all good , Briyani not cooked well. Never recommend this restaurant in my life. Such a horrible experience.

Best awesome bengali restaurant...really like it. Bengali cuisine is the culinary style of Bengal, a region in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent encompassing Bangladesh and Indian states of West Bengal, Tripura and Assam's Barak Valley. The cuisine has been shaped by the region's diverse history and climate.

Absolutely authentic Bengali style food. A perfect place if someone is missing home and wants the similar tastes. The mutton can be cooked better, and the wash basin area can be cleaner. The only downside, rest food is right there at the mark. Must try. UPDATE: Tried mutton again for the 2nd time, it was perfect this time 🤤

Ambience- Ordered online Pocket friendly- Reasonable for the quantity and quality served. Food- Fish cutlet was crispy and fresh and generous in quantity. The outer layer was crisp with inner fish layer being very soft. But the spice level was really down and the entire cutlet was pretty bland. Lucchi was tasty. Its like your paratha but very thick. I do not know if that is how it is supposed to be. But it was soft and good. Chicken kosha or your thick Chicken gravy was tasty and with right amount of spice. Not too oily too. Only suggestion would be here to cut the chicken into smaller pieces rather than the big chunks that were provided. Service- Quick and prompt. Rating- 3.5 as spice level can be improved for cutlet and chicken pieces could be made smaller.

The foos is really great. For bengalis in Southern part of India. This restaurant is a paradise. You can find the best of Bengali dishes and quality is decent enough. Only that the price is on the higher side.

I would like to give 5 star, and thank you, other wise, in this area, no where north Indian food is available. Rate is average. Plain chapati is ₹15 and it's cheapest in this area, you will find plain chapati is ₹45 in some hotels. Thanks some one has opened a Bengali shop here at Perungudi. So far I have been twice, and ordered same dish twice, veg Tadka and plain roti. Tadka is good and in pure north Indian taste. For fish lovers I guess it's a good place, sorry I am vegetarian. I will update my review after some days, trying out other dishes. It's 6th Jan 2019 today. Pease pulao is good here

We tried telapia jhal meal, bhetki paturi meal, chingri bati chochori and mishti doi. Moreover the food was good... You can go for it but don't try mishti doi.. it doesn't have the authenticity. But if u want to try a wide variety of Bengal cuisine please go for it.

The biryani is good and rest of the food items are okay. Don't try French fries🤣. In the name of French fries you will end up getting typical bengali Alu Bhaja..

  • 5/5 Arup B. 1 year ago on Google
Very tasty dishes are served here. The quality of the Biryani and Chicken Kosha was too much good and it reminded of the bengali taste. And full AC room. Would love to visit again.

The Chicken roll and Egg roll were as good as expected but the chicken kosha was not good, they must source fresh chicken bcoz I felt the meat was too frozen type but the gravy was just awesome and the Katla fish curry was average.

It's a Bengali cuisine restaurant. The restaurant was decent with enough seating space. The menu card was something different from the regular restaurants in chennai, many dishes based on Bengali cuisine was there to try. Will recommend this place for both meal and snacks. The desserts options they have also very good.

Recently visited here with family. It was a surprise to see Bengali food in such a street. The restaurant was very clean and hygienic. We tried Fish, chicken and vegetarian meal. All the food items were completely cooked in Bengali style. Not much spicy, but tasty. Friendly staffs. Affordable price for dishes. I would recommend this place if you want to try some a different kind of taste.

They have number of bengali items in menu, however the taste of everything is not that great. There is long waiting time and atmosphere is not calm enough. The staff does not offer good service. But as such it is a good enough place for bengali food in Chennai.

GOOD FOOD, POOR SERVICE The Good - Has really good authentic bengali food and prices are slightly expensive. Has good lunch meals with reasonable prices. The BAD - CAREFUL- DON’T ORDER FOOD IN the EVENING like Biriyani and Curries, usually they serve leftovers from afternoon. It’s not a great place to DINE IN. The ambience is pretty chaotic with all Swiggy guys waiting to pick up the food and there are not enough staff to serve you. They have A/C but they don’t switch on unless there are enough customers dining which is rare. You won’t feel comfortable dining in, so good for home delivery instead. More often though the food is served cold that’s one big complaint (minus 2 for that). The Biriyani is Dum ka and is usually good but can be rarely bad some days when it’s not cooked properly.
