They have changed their old location to a nearby place. Due to covid many items are unavailable. Also the food used to be very authentic than now, but still has good Kerala food. I’ve been having food from this restaurant for almost 6 years now, so I’ve tasted some real good food from here. Hope they get back to that after pandemic.

Food quality and taste were good. Kerala style meals are served here. Ambience is also good with lots of space. Fish curry, fish fry were special. It has a small toilet for the customers. Good choice for fish meals.

Amazing place to have an authentic kerala cuisine. The menu is completely pocket friendly and one need not worry about the pricing here. The best thing I like about the place they haven't cut the neem tree growing inside the place and have constructed the hotel around the tree and this environmental friendly act of them needs an appreciation. The staffs are so friendly and have a smile on their face anytime we see them. They serve that herbal warm water to their customers which is very good for digestion. I would strongly recommend this place for a great experience and tasty Naadan food.

Not for North Indian people,,, also they give the different menu which is not same what you see on Google maps. All the food made in coconut oil, it's good for South Indian people... they give hot water which you see in the pic,,, that is totally unexplainable 🀣🀣🀣🀣

Kerala Food at its most Authentic and taste. Simple Menu with quick service. They have increased their seating capacity from where it was. Budget Kerala food at its best. Must try: Beef ulathiyathu(ignore spelling) and Fish varieties. Car Parking on the side road is available.

I think this restaurant was a living place before, cause the building is like it's a home and it was altered to get this restaurant. Parking is so narrowed,. As far the food concerned, mutton briyani was blant, so mild taste.. chicken briyani little better than mutton but it was also not great. Heard about this restaurant from my frnds but experience I got was like tasting a raw lemon. Kerala style was there but not exactly Kerala taste., Even Thalashery thattu kada would be better in taste. Beef fry is not that great.. was hard. In mutton briyani only there was bone and little piece around it was hard and there was not even masala taste!. If you want fish, I suggest you to go bit further near the church , they will be fresh fish will be fried. That's good. Anyway don't go for briyani here, I didn't try appam..,may it could have been better and less price too 😜😩😭,. And go for curry beef not beef fry(varatiyadhu). And ambience not that great I'd say, AC ventilation also good, I was using fan additionally. Have a great dinner..😎🀟🏾.

A simple fuss free place to enjoy Kerala food. Alot of options on their menu for non-veg dishes. Aapam or Parotta with a gravy would be great or meals with your favourite meat side dish.

Kuttanada is a true gem nestled in the heart of Kerala, offering an unparalleled experience in the art of spice. As a fervent enthusiast of Kerala's vibrant culinary scene, I found myself captivated by the rich, aromatic flavors that Kuttanada effortlessly showcases. From the tantalizing aroma of cardamom to the warm embrace of cinnamon and the fiery kick of black pepper, this place is a haven for spice lovers. The authenticity and quality of the spices here are unmatched, each one telling a story of Kerala's rich heritage. What truly sets Kuttanada apart is not just the spices themselves but also the warmth and knowledge of the local experts who graciously share insights into their cultivation and usage. Moreover, the ambiance reflects the essence of Kerala's culture, enhancing the overall experience. Whether you're a culinary enthusiast or someone seeking a deeper connection with Kerala's culinary traditions, Kuttanada is a must-visit destination. In conclusion, Kuttanada's spice haven is a delightful voyage for the senses, offering an immersive and authentic exploration of Kerala's flavors. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a flavorful journey through the heart of Kerala's spice world.

Stopped for dinner with family and their appam and stew is amazing. Pooricha koazhi is a must try. They take good 15-20 mins to deliver food on table once your order is placed. But missed to try their beef varieties.

This place is best suitable for non vegetarian fare. My friends from Kerala laud their preparation as authentic Keralite cuisine. Menu has chicken, mutton, fish, prawns, squid and beef. Some of the dishes (most sea food, I guess) are prepared using coconut oil as one would expect. Chicken and mutton gravies had a much neutral. The place gets easily crowded for lunch, and more easily so on Fridays. Ambience is not great. We went there as a group of 8 and the average cost per person for the lunch came as Rs. 370.

Ambience : 2.5/5 It's an ordinary restaurant. So not much of ambience. Service : 3/5 Friendly and responsive staff. Decent service time too. They are accepting card payment also now. Food : 3/5 Items ordered : porotta, appam, nadan chicken curry, chilly Gobi, lime and ada payasam. Overall food is ok. Appam is soft and fluffy. Chilli Gobi can be a bit more spicy. Nadan chicken curry is average. Ada payasam sadly tastes nothing like it. So food is not like what we get in Kerala. Porotta alone is an exception and was in par. Promise is surely there. Will again visit to try out seafood varities. This one is for sure is better amongst the Kerala cuisine restaurants in Chennai.

A little lovely Kerala restaurant. All their dishes are decently priced. They have all kinds of non-veg options. Staffs are polite and their service is fast too. The aroma of fresh food cooked in coconut oil is just amaze. Appams are not among the best, but the chicken and beef were so soft, tasty and tender. Portion are good too. Like, one curry can be shared by two people easily. Yummy food. Please go try this place everyone.

We previously had our dinner around 2019 when it was in the besant nagar main road. Now it had been shifted near besant nagar. However the food taste is still the same. Adipoli !!!! Thats how I can put in words. My favourite here is "Beef varattiyathu". Awesome beef dish made in coconut oil. For taste i would give 10 out 5. Excellent in taste and service as well as price. Must try.

Kerala cuisine offers a multitude of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes prepared using fish, poultry and red meat with rice as a typical accompaniment. Chillies, curry leaves, coconut, mustard seeds, turmeric, tamarind, asafoetida and other spices are also used in the preparation. Happy to have kerala hotel in Chennai

You may face some rush in the peak time. You will have to wait for more than 15-20 mints even to take an order. But food is superb. In goog quantity and better taste. Price is reasonable. Kind of difficult to find the hotel.

Authentic Kerala food and good atmosphere. Try the beef ularthiathu and Ayala fry. Simply delicious. Very busy during dining times and make sure you get early to grab a table. No valet parking but there is enough space in the road. Make sure that your parking does not bother other vehicles. Order will take 10 to 15 min time. Make sure you avoid peak hour traffic

4th Aug - gave a 2 star based on 2 meals had over 2 weeks. First, had the Onam sadya there and it was a major disappointment. But I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt (due to rush) and visited again today and ordered parotta, chicken curry, fish fry and mutton biriyani. While the parotta and chicken curry was good, the fish fry and mutton biriyani was a huge disappointment in taste. The biriyani did not even taste like a proper biriyani. The rice was overcooked, mashed and the mutton was hard and it was obvious that there was no "dum" done. The fish fry again was not that great. I have to say that I do not intend to visit this place again.

Kuttanad is the most accessible and equally yummy mallu food joint in the Adyar and Besant Nagar areas. I've been eating here since I was in college and through all those years and two location changes, their atmosphere, service and food has remained unchanged. Their hot malabar parottas and beef dry fry are my go-to order and in all these years I have never been disappointed. The beef pieces are always well-cooked and lean pieces mostly, which I enjoy more. Be prepared for lightning fast service on most days. The egg curry, pachakari stew, puttu and appams are also delicious. Their appams have the perfect aftertaste of a fermentation that most places hit or miss. Egg appams are next level too. I have overheard kappa and their kothu parotta varieties being ordered often, but haven't tried them. Once with a friend, we tried their chicken stew, which is the only subpar dish I have eaten here. I think pieces of boiled chicken were mixed into a stew base, leaving it feeling like the flavours hadn't mixed. Expect to be served pink warm water and an ambiance of a playlist stuck in the 90s, chasing a romance that perhaps never existed.

If your looking for homely authentic Kerala cuisine, then this is the place to go. The food here is really good and the dining area setup is simple; yet neat and clean. The staff and the owners are pleasant and helpful. In terms of pricing, it's definitely value for money.

We went with the expectation of having tasty Kerala food. Ordered Mutton roast, Parotta, Appam and Chicken Biriyani. Chicken Biriyani was like normal, not outstanding or worth mentioning. Fried Chicken mixed with masala, but the pieces were not juicy. Parotta tasted like Thattukada kind, Maida tasty prominent all over. Appam was really good. Now coming to Mutton Roast, the mutton was not cooked well. It tasted bad and mentioned the same to the service team, who said they would look into it. Then the curry was just normal.

Kerala cuisine - authentic and less jazzy but tasty πŸ˜‹ Service and Atmosphere gives typical kerala feel - but when crowd comes in - the same turns into considerable waiting situation. A good place for kerala variety. I had lunch with kerala rice meals, meen polichathu, egg omlette. Unlimited kerala rice with sambar, more kuzhambu, chutney, pickle, papad-oh wow πŸ‘Œ

I have been to this hotel years back for their traditional flavours. We recently visited this restaurant for dinner last week Friday and was struck with huge disappointment. We ordered chicken biryani , parotta chicken gravy and kerala chicken fry. To be honest the biryani was not even 10 percent close to a kerala biryani. It was raw with no flavours and rice used is completely different it's not biryani rice or basmati rice. My 4 year son said don't call it biryani. And finally the chicken fry was saltless tasteless with no spice or flavours on it. Overall parotta was only decent. I kindly recommend the hotel to do justice for the dishes and to look into the quality of the food.

The restaurant has shifted to 1st main road at besant nagar. The flavours in the kerala dishes are truly authentic and 100% pocket friendly. Would give this place a 10 ⭐rating.

Nice and clean place compared to other hotels. Here you can get kerala food ( don't expect complete kerala taste). Food is costly in Chennai so subsequently this hotel is also costly. We ordered chicken biriyani and it's good compared to other 4 hotels i ate nearby.

  • 4/5 Abishek R. 2 years ago on Google
Talking about price point, it's kinda okay, not too high and not low. Then about quantity, briyani quantity is average, but Kappa briyani quantity is high. I tried beef and chicken, everything was well cooked, choppy and tasty. I was little bit annoyed since they always run Christian songs in the speaker, if anyone feels annoyed avoid this place, otherwise it's definitely a good kerela style restaurant to try.

Clean environment. Good personal care. Food was good. Specifically, Sambar was excellent. Kerala red rice was seperate but we'll cooked. Served extra side dishes, without asking for, on seeing the plate getting empty.
