I have visited this restaurant numerous times for the past decade. It’s strategically located in ECR with sufficient car and bike parking. Many dishes from their menu have disappeared but still they serve Hot dosa, Idly, Poori, Vada and Chappathi. The quality of food has deteriorated since they started but still there seems to be a loyal customer base arriving in groups to dine in the AC hall and outside. Price is nominal but service is very very much delayed. Customers have to literally raise their hands from the table and plead with the waiters to attend them. Hot chips is focused more on Swiggy and Zomato delivery than the walk in customers.

I doubt whether this a original franchise of Hot Chips. The food is average. We went as a team to have breakfast and was dissapointed with the taste. Best dish was mini tiffen in which they provide most of the south indian dishes in one plate. Masala dosa was average and pongal was disappointing. The have a clean well maintained dining space. The Hotel washrooms and toilets were kept clean. The car and two wheeler parking space is spacious enough. The only minus point is they have only one man for taking orders and servicing. It was so surprising that such a big banner hotel has employed only one staff for supplying food. I would definitely not recommend this place to others.

Best veg restaurant fr veggies... There are 2 division...Self service in without AC and AC with self service. Nice restaurant.. parking also gud fr both 2 wheeler and 4 wheeler.

The restaurant is self-service. Staff behind the serving counter do not understand Tamil. They aren't tidy looking. They don't understand instructions. Food taste is just above average, Tables are not wiped clean. Not recommended for a pleasant eating experience.

As a policy I try to never waste food but this is the first time in years that I simply could not eat. The food felt stale, the waiter doesn't pause to take orders, and after 20 mins of waiting informs us that only lemon rice is available. Even that was salty. Will never ever visit this place again. Dear Hot chips mgmt, you have such a nice place in a hot spot but if you treat customers like this, you are not going to make it in the long run.

The one thing that should not go wrong in a restaurant is simple meals.. in Chennai it’s a crime for the meals to go wrong... Hot chips unfortunately has achieved this.. all flies around... bad service.. the cleaning person has made the table more dirty than cleaning.. they definitely need to look at training their employees... from cooks to Cleaners...

Stopped here on our way to Mahabalipuram from Chennai for breakfast. The place was pretty crowded. We sat in the AC section and quickly ordered a masala dosa and a ghee roast dosa with vada and coffee. The menu items listed on the board infront were unavailable. The ghee roast dosa was super thin, crispy, delicious. The masala dosa was below average, the masala itself was terrible. The vada was okay, coffee again, okay.

Pathetic food and service. Food was very bland and not worth the money. The entire AC section was served by just 1 person that too during peak lunch hours. You will definitely loose your appetite as you walk to wash your hands and see the wash area & kitchen. There are houseflies flying in the AC section itself. Hot Chips isn’t at the standard it was before. Please don’t get deceived by the other good reviews. They are probably old die hard hot chip loyal fans. There are way better restaurants in the same locality. Kindly avoid this restaurant and skip.

Absolutely tasteless and oily food. Filthy kitchen with dirty interiors that hasn't been cleaned in years and handled by people who eat off the food that is to be given as a parcel. Packing people handle food without gloves, do not replace food even if it falls on the floor. Worthy of a visit by the food inspection authorities to seal the place.

Food was ok ok. Didn’t have much options. Meals was tasting incomplete. No cold water, staff were taking personal issues inside the restaurant very loudly, had to scream at them to get out our talk softly.

Place is good, if you want to spend more time you should chose this place.after billing it will take just 15mins to give you the food. Overall rating for 5 I would give 2

Good food and great place for a lazy day breakfast with friends and family. Portion size of some of the food items like coffee, kesari, etc., were more than the usual normal size.

food wise ok. After 9.30 am daily, no Vada. No masala dosa. Service guys poor. You ask for dosa and make it soft, they will still just shout dosa to the master. The kitchen cleanliness is poor

Good place for breakfast… one of the big food chains in chennai… I have been eating in hot chips since I was 10year old.. but now I feel they lost their touch… many loyal customers like me still visit hot chips for their filter coffee

Poor service, food tastes average. It has AC hall and self service. Even in AC hall, we are given the bill and asking us to pay bill in the counter.

Food tastes good. Quality is good. Car Parking is available. Rates are very, very reasonable. (I thought it would be costly because it's located in ECR.) Only problem is service. Sometimes we have to wait for 10-15 minutes even for a cup of coffee because the same person has to handle baking idli. May be understaffed. Otherwise it's an good place to have vegetarian food.

Very Bad quality of North Indian combo food. Especially Veg. Biryani and Gobi Manchurian was looks left over food was reheated. When we pointed out on the same it was really not taken care. Filthy foul smelling restaurant. All the previous day's food was dumped in two to three huge bags and was kept at the restaurant's parking right at the front entrance of the restaurant. It was leaking oozing with filth and foul smell. Nothing was available at the restaurant and the cashier was literally proud about it too

We just had coffee. Somehow the coffee took a while to come and when it arrived it was so cold. We didn't order cold coffee, mind you!!. I think the cook was on leave that time. Can't say. People always swear by this restaurant. I find it strange. Also there were a lot of flies zooming around our table , as if they have come to dine!!

The food was great. We waited for long time since there was only 2 people to serve the entire place. We went to the billing counter and paid for the food directly. The delay was due to shortage of manpower. Costly.

They don't care about Customer care in the morning times as they are busy with the arrangements. You have to wait until they offer you the complete set of your orders...

The price for the self service with non AC in Hot Chips is very high than the Premium Hotels (Sangeetha, A2B, Vasanta Bhavan., Etc) The price for mini tiffin is Rs.176 and FYI in the above hotels it is just 130-145 including table service with A/C and good ambiance. The quality of the food, ambiance and services are also really worst and unclean. The Hot Chips have gone long back. Cleanliness is not as expected when it comes to food, spoiling the brand name. A bee (fly) found in tomato chutney today when we had breakfast this morning. Staff is not concerned about public health. No proper quality checks or inspections before serving the food. Irresponsible staff and manager.

Simple vegetarian Restaurant at Neelankarai on the main ECR, with self-service Section. Price looks reasonable and taste too is just average. No air conditioning. Not much crowded on weekdays. As there is no table service you have to wait and get the items while family is waiting. This offsets the pleasure of eating! Parking available. Accepts cards and digital payments.

Its on the ECR road near neelankarai and its easily accesible. The food quality is not upto the standards but its ok. The service is also not good. There is also an air conditioned room there but they charge for it. The coffee served there is good. I suggest them to improve their service a bit more. There is also enough parking facilty available there.

Might be we went in a off time. Most of the options weren't there. Only dosai variety was available. They have A/c room and non a/c. Self service in the non A/C section. Coffee was good. The restaurant didn't look apealing !! Needs to be maintained well. Service was good in the A/C section. The waiter we got was cordial.

Good place to have a typical south Indian tiffin items. I liked their red(onion+tomato) chutney, it went well with the idly and dosa. We went for the self service section. I found their hand wash place to be uniquely designed.

Slowest sloths works at this restaurant. Be prepared to wait for a minimum of 30 mins to 1 hour for every order. For restaurant of this big I expected better tasting food however it tastes no different from street vendors.

Worst.. no wonder hotchips restaurant which was once very good is now going to drains. Had Bombay meals with cold chapati and a host of lemon rice and curd rice and tasteless paneer masala. Avoid at all cost unless you're starving to death.

Personally I liked food ordered from hotchips through swiggy. I saw rating of this restaurant below 4 but it worth for above 4 ratings. Rava dosai was super with tasty sambar(some sweetness was there). Parotta veg kuruma was excellent too. Vada curry and coconut chutney taste good. Oveall i was very happy with taste and parcel. Only concern if have to say then it's length of rava dosa. Comparatively small with other restaurant.

Always my favourite restaurant, but nowadays they are loosing their service. Even in the morning 8.15 they are not ready with Vada...

First Relief for this Restaurant is they have a parking, so we are at ease to park our car. After pandemic and in these period they are very limited with the carry outs only. Coffee and Tea is available any time...Tough times but still they are managing with only Deliveries

Hot chips is loosing its quality every day. Even during this pandamic, none of the staffs were wearing a glove / cap. 25 mins after placing my order, the waiter said it's not available. Changed my order later and food was bad. Never going to visit again

The quality of food n service has fallen to the lowest possible level. Most of the items in the menu was not available on a Sunday night( peek day). It's worth only for emergency n not for leisure dinner.

Poor service. Not enough staff to cater the people who come to eat there. The wait was too long to take the order, and then long wait for the food to arrive. We didn't want to order extra food as we could be bothered to wait. Even the bill came late. The food was average. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Great place to dig in at Neelankarai. Highly economic yet great in quality. Would rate their coffee among the best in town, hands down. And there's something inimitable about Hot Chips sambar that I find here. 14 idly with ghee is my personal favorite.

A Vegeterian South Indian Restaurant. PROS: Quick Service. Fresh Food. Reasonably priced. I always go here when time is of the essence and I need to grab a quick bite. Nine out of Ten times the food is fresh and tastes good. Getting a seat here is usually easy unless it's a weekend evening. CONS: Ambience. At the give price,This is the only con you can really come up with. It's a bit noisy usually and the whole place has a mundane feel to it. But then again, at these prices, that's expected. CONCLUSION: If you're looking for a non-sense restaurant that serves good vegetarian food at reasonable prices, this is it.

Like all Hot chips, There is a self service Non AC and table service AC area. South Indian Tiffin items are the best here. If you are a coffee person, definitely try One at Hot Chips. Sadly Idly size has come down these days.
