Kanji kadai.. As the name shows it's a shop which provides traditional Indian foods.. It is actually situated in OMR food street in kandanchavadi. A must place to visit and taste.. The special food items provided here is mainly in chatti ( clay pots). They serve verities of food in chatti. The main dish which we have try here is chatti Choru, chatti kanji etc... Unluckily I visited here in an evening and couldn't taste it. We tried with puttu biriyani and chatti porotta etc.... It's a main place for kerala dishes.they provide a very tasty food with reasonable price. Another main thing is about the ambiance which they set as a traditional teashop. Anyway all the best team go ahead.i wish you that let somany people get the chance to taste that traditional one....

Concept : The concept of serving food in clay vessels with banana leaves reminds me of my childhood time. I really liked the way they served it in a vessel with a ring underneath to adjust the bowl in preferred angle while eating. Food : I really loved it. I would definitely recommend to visit this place for a good meal. There are so Many options for non-vegetarians but limited amount for veggies. If you are a vegetarian, prefer going at noon coz you will find many options rather than in the night. Above all, this place is budget friendly too.😋😋 We were three people and we finished our meal in less than 500 bucks. So this place is definitely worth trying😋👍🏻

We came here to try satti choru but unfortunately it is available only during lunch time. We ordered chicken Iraichi soru and chicken parotha. We expected them to be served in clay pot but they were served in cerapic pot. Irachi soru was very salty and they gave two chicken pieces. The parothas had one egg omelet and two chicken pieces. Parothas tasted very normal on par with local shops. Their menu is lavishly price which I dont think do any justice. The interiors were good but they have to work on their cleanliness, while we were eating we spotted a small cockroach running on our table. Not worth to travel and eat here. I really dont know how this restaurant got good reviews. maybe we went on a bad day.

Visited Sunday after noon for lunch. Ordered 2 fish meals and 1 prawn roast. The meal is good but the prawn roast is flooded with onions and other masala, below average. Also the service is not good when it's crowded, we called multiple times to get a server.

The Kanji kadai serves the taste of Home made Kanji(Rice porridge) & Kappa(Tapioca) which are so delicious and brought back a lots of my hometown(Kanyakumari) memories with the sides they provided along with it. A must try restaurant for having the best tasting kanji. I do know some people think, it's a lot of money for just "kanji", but it does fill your stomach leaving you with a satisfying experience. I had kanji with fish curry, it's a must try. Every kanji is affordable ranging from 150 to 250.. A must try is their coconut pudding, jiggly and soft, melts in mouth.

The place that we visit everytime when we are confused to decide a place for lunch. They serve a wide variety of kanji as the name suggests but I haven't tried them yet. My favourites are their Poricha Kozhi, Irachi Soru and the butter milk they serve as complementary. They also serve some good tea varities if you are someone who needs it after a meal.

An awesome Kerala cuisine joint. Their innovative way of serving the meals is our of the world. We get the Buddha bowl type of serving. Rice, veggies, chamanthi and pickle along with rice in a bowl. As the name goes, the style of serving is excellent. They serve fish meals, chicken meals and veg meals. For the night they have tiffin varieties like parottas, puttu kadalai and other delicacies. Today I had been to this place located at Perungudi. We had chatti Choru, Thalasseri Biriyani, Prawn roast and nannari sarbath. Food was good and tasty. Restaurant was neat and clean. I got some parcel too like squid roast, kappa, Fish fry etc., Keralites must visit Kanji Kadai.

Really good food at a very good price point. We enjoyed everything we got. Special mention to the Sulaiman tea that was made off the menu for us. Will definitely try again if I’m in that side of town. Hope to see more branches in Chennai. Payasam was served as complimentary was yum.
