One of the worthless food I ever felt with. They cost one mutton biriyani for 300 rupees. But it is absolutely unworthy for the penny we spend. I really expected for a good taste and visited the location by travelling around 70Km. But I was totally disappointed. The cost is very high on the food they are providing. I will never ever recommend any one visiting ecr to have lunch or dinner at this shop. Even the quantity of the food was medium, if the quality was good. I would adjusted on this.

Over-hyped, the taste is not that much worth it, the price is very high, briyani is almost tasteless like tomato rice, meals are also bad, tasted nalli roast, it's like old not fresh, place also old no ac, fan not working, for this interior this is over over priced, they not care about customer services , nothing is there waste of traveling time , wondering about ratings ( Don't forget to see owner's reply in reviews)

I recently visited Dhonnai Biryani House, an eatery that had its ups and downs. The ambience was decent, nothing extraordinary, and the service was average. The chicken biryani, priced at ₹250, had a familiar taste and a pleasing balance of spices. However, the mutton biryani, costing ₹320, was a disappointment. Its vibrant green color, dominated by mint, was an uncommon sight, but the flavor didn't match the visual appeal. It felt like a steep price to pay for a lackluster experience.

I blindly give 5 star as it is very worthy food. I had lunch today and very yummy taste. I had conversation with owner jai and came to know that the meat, oil and all other items are purchased only from quality vendors. I bet you will feel unique taste. Mutton kola, vanjaram fish, green chilli chicken, mutton nalli, chicken curry, mutton chukka are awesome. You don’t miss to try out green chilli chicken. Usually owner never cook in many hotels. But here speciality is jai himself cook everything. Hats off to him for the tasty food..

Ok, let get this straight. What is called authentic flavour, a perfectly balanced meal, that has a combination of correct ingredients, and a proper cooking technique. Especially if you want your taste buds to kickin memories of your Village grandmother or deep south home cooked non vegetarian food. This place is highly recommend. There is no doubt. QUALITY, FLAVOUR, BALANCE OF INGREDIENTS you will get it all. CON's- if you are going to have food in the hotel, do not expect a setup of a fine dining restaurant. The place is big, Family's can definitely come. AC is available and spacious, not congested. Service is decent. Car parking not available. Please park on service lane or at the end of the service lane near the signal on the right side down goes a road where parking is available. Enjoy your meal, thanks for reading cheers. Awesome briyani and side dishes.. Lil expensive but worth the money...

All the food lovers out there, If you’re a Non-Vegetarian you must try Dhonnai biriyani house. They have variety of non vegetarian dishes right from Chicken, Fish, Prawns, Mutton and they also have other meat options available. The food is amazing. A Must try restaurant!!

One of the finest lunch experience inhad with Dhonnai Biryani house. I had seen lot of good reviews of their for quite some time. Finally I went there to taste their meals. Though I felt like they could have added few more items like Pattukottai kamatchi mess, this was one good experience. Has tastiest Fish and chicken gravy. Mutton gravy is not there in their list. Fish was given along with the curry and 3 pieces chicken 65 given along with the meals. It was one good lunch. Will surely visit again for their Biryani and Satti soru.

Visited the restaurant after 4 long years, and still liked their Mutton chukka and non veg meals. 👍

For a day out can go and fill your stomach till your neck. Quality is average comparing the prize. Side dishes are costly.

All the food varieties are good with authentic tastes and flavors. Don't expect Chennai-style basmati rice Biriyani. They're preparing a very mild flavor but it's really good when eating with side dishes

Best way to enjoy dining here 🍗 1. Order a Non veg meal and a biryani incase of twl 2. Order Two side dish, my fav is Prawn thokku and Mutton curry 3. Sides dish goes well for white rice and biryani as well💥 4. They serve white rice after biryani, so a finishing touch with rasam or curd will make the lunch complete 💯 Tips - Visit only on weekdays except Friday - Make sure u have good appetite 😜 else you don't feel this place amusing Price For a non-ac restaurant, I feel the price is high but the food taste and the staff's hospitality makes the price worth ( but still konjam kammi panlam )🫢

Really good Dhonnai biryani (Karnataka style) Taste is authentic. Not so clean place in terms of hygiene. But the food is made clean. Lot of varieties.

Upon a friend's recommendation, I decided to give this place a try. Although it's not difficult to locate, you might easily miss it, as it is tucked away in a small passage adjacent to the Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR). Unlike the typical dum-style biryani found elsewhere, their specialty is the Dhonnai biryani, prepared with Samba rice, which has a smaller grain size. These have perfected the recipe for Mutton Dhonnai biryani exceptionally well. To enhance the flavours of this already delicious dish, it is served on a banana leaf. Additionally, their expertise extends to other offerings like Prawn thokku and chicken chukka, which are a delightful accompaniment. Due to the high demand for their biryanis, it is advisable to arrive early if you wish to savour this unique and flavourful variation. I have yet to sample their noon meals, but I am already looking forward to my next visit.

Taste was unique...lot of side dish varieties.....typical military style hotel.....biriyani..was less masala....different flavour.....Nice taste

Authentic food that taste good , light on your tummy and a teeny tiny bit heavy on your pocket but worth every penny spent. Prefer take away. Not a great place to dine in though. Must try mutton chukka, mutton biriyani (pulav) and fish gravy

I had a non veg meals today which cost 200rs. Taste is excellent and felt authentic. They provided fish and chicken curry which are not unlimited. Side dishes are costly when compared to other hotels.i would have given 5 stars if the prize is reasonable.

Delicious Sides and Soft Parottas Bought Parottas and sides as takeaways couple of times , in both instance Parottas were hot and soft irrespective of the time and the serva that accompanies the Parottas are tasty and tangy went well with the Parotta Mutton pepper fry and chicken leg pepper were awesome , well cooked , tender and spicy . One of the few places left that uses plantain Leaves for packing food which I liked Quantity is good , taste is awesome and priced right They are so passionate about their food and their business which you will witness there Highly recommended

There is a hype for this hotel. But items are not that much tasty here. It's a kind of average hotel with average taste. Briyani is something like Mint rice and Mutton is not tlender and more of its Fat in briyani and gravy. Briyani and Dishes are too costly here and it doesn't even worth for money. Not sure why they are charging high for that average standard briyani. Rice here is Jeeraga Samba. We can better go to some taste good restaurant and enjoy food with good atmosphere with same cost. Appreciate your growth but you should revisit Dishes price. Since there is more hotels providing foods at same cost and quality.

Highly recommended. The mutton was deliciously cooked. Chicken briyani was normal. Mutton briyani was awesome.

I had meals from this place a few months back and it is one of the best I’ve had till date! Chicken curry that came with the thaali stole the spotlight for me ✨ soft chicken falling off from the bones. Really enjoyed the succulent mutton pieces from the mutton curry too. Prawns curry was also spectacular. Must try for all non-vegetarians!!!

Bought briyani and other side dishes, briyani rice is over cooked, spicy level is hot 🥵🔥 in an extream , after you had spicy we won't get any taste of any side dishes... Nothing as great as before... Nothing flavour full... doesn't feel good Is cooking team or management changed ??? Highly disappointed as what I had 2 yrs before... No use of referring this again to any....

Taste of the items was pretty good. But the price too high. No AC, no neat ambience. Dining area is like some local bars. Don't suit for family. For paying so much of cost, they can go for a better restaurant with good ambience. I was charged 300/- for mutton biriyani where meat was very rough and hard to bite. Chicken tikka was 200/- which is very high for that environment and ambience.

One of the best places to eat biryani in Chennai. I used to travel 30 km for this biryani. Everyone should try this place atleast once.
