This Annai Velankanni Shrine is also known as The Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health. Actually this is a Latin Catholic church . Situated at the area of Velankanni , Chennai . Made as per British Neo Gothic Style and dedicated to Our Lady of Good Health which was actually Virgin Mary and it is believed that she appeared twice at this Velankanni area during 16 and 17th century . This basilica is just few meters away from Elliot beach . There are no entry fee and any one can enter into this basilica . The whole white structure is so gorgeous and can be seen from far . Stay open from 5:30am to 8:30PM . There are also a museum too which stays open on weekend day from Afternoon 4pm to 7Pm .

A place for worship for Christan people. Being my first trip to Chennai and first trip to beach....I was just wondering nearby market area. As a curiosity I have entered to see the Church from inside. Pin drop silence inside church. Just some sparrow were chirping which was again a good sound to hear. Neat and clean from inside. People were coming and going after giving prayer. I spent about 30 minutes. Although no bad feeling about any religion....So whenever I get a chance...I visit church. After 2008 which was marriage year...I visited church in 2024. In 2008, me and my wife church during Goa trip.

Being situated at the Elliot's sea shore on the shore of Bay of Bengal this altar is as like a paradise for the pioneers. A great many lovers visit the congregation to look for the favors of mother Mary. Enthusiasts love Mother Mary as 'woman of wellbeing' in this congregation. The group the board here needs improvement. You need to leave your vehicle along the sea shore street prior to visiting this congregation. The best thing about the spot is that individuals of all religion come here, unburden their distresses and pain and disappear quietly. The din doesn't prevent individuals from staying with Mother Mary. The always brilliant face of Mother causes you to unwind and relinquish your concerns.

No free toilet facility. All the devotees are paying so much of offerings. In return the church is not providing a clean toilet facility. They outsourced a paid toilet on the next door. But very poor maintenance. Constructing million dollar grand church is not enough. Pls think about higiene first. Kids and elders are facing great difficulty for nature's call

Truly a monumental church. There's also good seating arrangement with conformable leg cushions. But note the timings given by Google are wrong; the church closes at 12:30 PM and reopens at 4:00 PM.

This is a beautiful shrine close to the beach. I have been going here since my childhood. It gives a positive vibes. The church is well maintained and performs lots of religious activities.

A very well known Shrine. Popular among all faiths. Though the original Vailankanni Shrine is located in Nagspattinam, this place is believed to be a replica of that. Congested during special days. Parking is a problem here. The bigger church constructed earlier was demolished and a new spacious one is being constructed.

Basant nagar church is located near beach and it has a magnificent view.Main church is very neat and clean which is very spacious .It has such a calm environment which will soothe our mind and has positive vibes everywhere.Had a very good experience visiting this place.

One of the best thiruthalam I've visited. I love to go there to pray in peace and get showered with Mother Mary's blessings. They have a huge shop with religious articles with great collection. They are building a new church for Mother Mary and accepting contributions towards it. They accept online contributions too. Check the attached photos for bank accounts to transfer the same.

It is the one of my fav place in chennai, now a days they didnt allow us to sit and pray due to covid situation. If you go, you can lighten the candle and pray for sometime. Weekends they didnt allow to enter into the church.

A beautiful place to sink in spritually and pray your hearts out. Every individual church looks heartwarming. So many beautiful memories to cherish around. I never seen vatican, but I will say Velankanni as TamilNadu's own vatican. Praise the lord 🙏

It's is a good place for worship, but hygienic point of view, it's in very bad condition. No good toilets for the worshippers. Nearby public pay toilets are in terrible condition controlled by rude people. Church has to have exclusive good arrangements for the toilets. A good amount of donations are given by the public worshippers and the church authorities should do that facilities without any hesitation.

Very poor in parking please be aware of indifferent rates they charge. Apart from that there is not much to explore, they have built new church and opened for public on 9th Dec 2021. Interior wise it looks good but you have climb 20 ft high of stairs, not feasible for old people to climb and there is no ramp as of today for wheel chairs.
