Hotel room was quite decent. Just because it's a heritage hotel, the mossaic flooring of the rooms give sort of a negative feeling, but otherwise, room is quite economical for a 1 day stay or quick transfers. The balcony of the room where we stayed was very dirty and there was cigarette dust on the floor. Restaurant service was awesome and the breakfast was splendid. Reception was very kind. I would highly recommend this hotel for any tourist who want to stay for 24hrs or less. Light in the budget.

Location is very Central. Checking In and Out was managed well. Room service is available and reasonably prompt. Room STANDARD AC is below expectations and hardly space for luggage and movement. Sewer smell unbearable when main door was opened. When conveyed during checkout about this the reception did not seem to appreciate the seriousness of my feedback and no response as well. Restaurants food is good but ordinary ambience. No coffee arrangement before 615 AM and no arrangement to make own coffee as well.

Stay here everytime I go to Chennai.  Stayed in a non-ac single room for 2 nights. Reached there at 10pm. The person at the reception asked me if I had dinner. If not, I could order now. Very pleasant welcome. The room litter bins had paper instead if plastic covers. Very environment conscious. I had left a broken earphone in the room. The house keeping person came running to the gate to give it to me after I had checked out. Excellent presence of mind. And the security at the gate requested me to stand inside the gate and wait for the auto as otherwise the stand auto drivers would unnecessarily harass me. How considerate. A suggestion: Just like you have reduced the flow of water from the tap in the restaurant hand wash area, please do the same on the room wash basins as well.

Beautiful and ideal location. You can eat peacefully in Banana leaf. Tanjore restaurant. Food quality has reduced. May be its it's due to Sunday rush to.Charges normal and service to be improved . AC & non AC restaurant. Ample car parking & resting place. Full of greenery well maintained. Age old trees and shade to enjoy

Went alone with my family and we ordered half of the Menu almost I can say coz we were about 10 members. Only dish we were disappointed with was Panner tikka masala which came with sweet gravy and looked more like kofta curry but other wise food was good and we enjoyed and serving was also quick.

Nice to have a dinner here after a very long time. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants but these days the Andhra meal which I like the most has been stopped for dinner. Anyways, the quality of the food and service is always the best here.

Very ill maintained hotel. very pathetic experience. Unhygienic. So many mosquitoes in the room. Rooms not cleaned properly, washrooms have some mosquito nets which are all damaged. Cats are roaming in corridor. Hotel located in very premium area with huge space but seems not upgraded for facilities since long. Very outdated and old fashioned for the amount of money they charged

Never have I been disappointed going to this place and have had some splendid food. No different this time around... The services were great, the food was tasty, and the standards have been well kept and maintained. I've been going to this place for over 15+ years, and it's been simply nostalgic. The interiors have been kept up well all these years and maintained. The one downside/grievance and hope the management will take note and improve is with their washroom facilities. They will need to ensure they are maintained better... they need that badly. I will certainly recommend going here for some tasty food!

I was looking forward to trying the veg meal at New Woodlands , but I was left feeling unsatisfied and ripped off. The meal was very ordinary and did not live up to the hype. The only good thing was the parking and the decent ambience. I felt like I wasted my money and my appetite. I do not recommend this New Woodlands to anyone who is looking for a good Meal. Rating: 1/5

Old hotel with >50 years history.. rooms are relatively old fashioned and reasonably clean. The marriage halls are good... Tarrif are slightly better.. but rented by 4 and 5 hours... Not the whole day... It would be a great place for marriages if they had rented the halls for 24 hours....

I have visited this place for my friends marriage reception in New Woodlands Lawn. Lawn can accommodate 200 people, stage decoration also looks good. This hotel is a iconic hotel in heart of the city. Have good parking space for both cars and bikes. Lawn is wheelchair accessible. Restroom is also clean. Not sure able dine in and rooms services. So giving five starts.

It’s value for money ! Rooms are clean . Staff polite , they even accommodated by allowing an extension of our stay by 5 hours because we checked in late without any extra charge. Definitely best option in that area. Restaurant attached also has very good South Indian food . Meal option is the best. North Indian food was average tasting. Definitely recommend the place.

Room are okay. The buildings need to be updated. The rooms were amazing when we came 5 and 9 years ago. Looking a bit outdated now and not looked after. The swimming pool was closed when were there which was the reason why we booked the hotel in the first place. Staff are really friendly and make you feel welcome.

Good location. Very big property. Swimming pool closed. Three restaurant. Food very costly. Very big walking space. Old building mattress to be changed. Big car parking space. Management must think very serious. New building mattress are very good. Very comfortable. Extra cot was not up to the mark. Insects 🐝 are coming out from the plywood board. Foldable Mattress are very poor quality. But charges are higher side.

Hotel is Existing with more than 60 year at Prime location of Chennai. I recently stay for two days here for my Tirupati Darshan Trip. Hotel having own compound, you can walk during evening or night time. Hotel having its own resturant named krishna resturant, they served authentic South India food, Hotel staff was very polite, you can have a food here you feel peace of mind.

  • 2/5 Sangeeta V. 4 months ago on Google
Just because of their location in the prime area they are surviving. 18 years ago they may have been good . But they have not upgraded anything since then. All rooms are dark, with dark mosaic floors and mosquitoes. Bathrooms are outdated for sure, shirt time supply of hot water.

The total area of the hotel itself is very huge. One will not feel cramped once stepped outside of hotel because of this. Service was excellent. Rooms are decent enough. Good choice for US visa interview. We had done early check in at 7am. They did not charge extra for early check-in. Complimentary breakfast is great. I would recommend avoiding the Krishna restaurant which is inside the premises of the hotel for either lunch/dinner. Food is expensive and the taste is not worth the price.

Set in Chennai's buzzing Mylapore district, this relaxed hotel is 1.9 km from Mundagakanni Amman Koil Railway Station, 2.4 km from 7th-century Kapaleeswarar Temple and 2.9 km from Marina Beach Casual rooms, suites and cottages offer satellite TV, tea and coffeemaking facilities, and en suite bathrooms. Some rooms have ceiling fans. Room service is available. There are 2 vegetarian restaurants, including 1 decorated with colourful murals, as well as pizza stall. Other amenities include an outdoor pool, a beauty salon and a florist. Parking is complimentary. Check-in time: 12:00 Check-out time: 12:00 Went to the restaurant for breakfast. Good number of parking for the guests. Restaurant is huge in size and the service is super quick. We tried variety of breakfast items and all tasted good. Prices are slightly higher for the food items. Overall good food. Surroundings are not very neat. The lift and other facilities are old and worn out. Also we had booked a room for 3 but were given a two bed room. They offered to put an extra bed, which would have made the room cramped. We did not accept it. But the payment was for a 3 bed room. Rooms :3.0 Service 4.0 Location5.0 Hotel highlights : Quiet Rooms Ok.. neat and clean Walkability: Unclean surroundings with an open toilet facility on the way. You have to cross it every time you go to the restaurant. Not very nice. Food & drinksOk..they should have given a leaf on the plate. Noteworthy details Good staff. Very courteous

Never missed to amaze us with their quality food. South Indian Thali is ultimate treat. If you're a good eater and love veg food then this is the place. Good ambiance, good service, kind people and excellent food. Finally, the food is very friendly on the stomach 😊😊😊

This review is only for the food experience at the testaurant. Quality of food is way below what it was 10 to 20 years back. Had idli, vada, Masala dosai and coffee. Chutney was uneatable. Only coffee was good. Very expensive too. Perhaps their north indian lunch items may be good. I have not tried these recently. Incidentally have visited their restaurant from early 60's. Perhaps I am expecting too much from todays eateries. Good point is lots of covenient parking space. Try it once for old times sake without high expectations.

New Woodlands Hotel is a budget-friendly hotel in Chennai that offers clean and comfortable rooms, friendly service, and a convenient location. The hotel also has a pure-vegetarian restaurant that serves delicious food. While the hotel is a bit dated, it is still a good option for budget-minded travelers.

It has been our go to restaurant for weekends for years in Chennai. Especially when they used to provide meals at night. For people like me and my family who would like to have meals at night sometimes, the restaurant was a saviour. But somehow after COVID meals are not available at night but still the pulao and gravy options are also wonderful. The ambiance is great and you can always spot famous faces in the restaurant during the weekend.

Booked a standard room for 1 night. Rates are reasonable for this location. Linen provided were neat . There is centralised AC inside the room which couldn't be controlled. Hot water is available round the clock. It was of medium heat. The stay was comfortable overall. However the car sounds and horns were quite disturbing which could be heard even inside the locked room.

A centrally located three star hotel. Excellent place to stay. One of the finest hotel providing exclusive vegetarian, traditional as well multi cuisine menu. Courteous service always extended. I have been a proud guest for more than half a century!

New Woodlands Hotel stay was a good experience. I stayed here with my parents for 3 days. The rooms are spacious and good. It was just that we had a cranky fan which was making a small irritable noise while it was running. The staff were polite and helpful. The charges here for services are super premium. As I was travelling via Auto from this place to a couple of locations, there is usual over charging which happens by the auto guys. I'd suggest to book your transit via Uber or Ola. There are two fine dining options in the hotel property which was costly but really good. One of them is a pure vegetarian restaurant. This place is easily identifiable from the main road and is a good place to stay for VISA appointments and interviews.

It's a heritage hotel with a room that's functional and utilitarian. It's clean, hygienic and everything works. The AC is effective and there is 24 hours hot water, even in the sink. The check-in was fast and the reception was friendly. There is room service. No meat is served and there is no bar in the hotel. But there is a lovely bar right next door in Hotel Savera. I had booked and paid in advance for 6 nights. But I checked out after 2 nights. They refused to give me a refund. Very sad.

Tasty authentic south Indian food in a rustic building with old Madras vibes. Pulls crowd in weekends and expect a waiting time of roughly half an hour. Seems their restaurants are more popular than the hotel itself.

The rooms are not very elegant but serviceable. Room service was quick and efficient but starts only at 6.30 am. Check in and check out were smooth. Strangely, couldn't get the locker working in my room. Overall, if you are not looking for modern amenities, this should suit.

    1. Though it's an old property, rooms are well maintained. 2. Restaurant here serves high quality South Indian vegetarian delicacies. 3. All staffs were very cordial. 4. Will come back soon ❤️

We have visited their space while my friend's brother engagement. Inspired on their party hall. Their room were quite awesome and neat. You can get a luxury room in a friendly budget. Loved their way of maintaining the room and services they provide. They are providing play area and swimming pool for the guest you book rooms there. As we were unlucky that we checked in during windy day , they took all the water out of swimming pool. Their rooms were provided with safety keys and surveillance cameras were around the hotel which keeps our surroundings monitored.

Recently we rented the mini hall for small family event. Overall experience was very good. Friendly staff, food was good( less oil and spice) and the venue met all the expectations. Mr.William , helped us with booking and was helpful and prompt throughout the process. Highly recommend the place for a casual meal or as a venue for your future events.

Hot water is available 24x7. All services are prompt and the staff attitude show how well they carry this brand. Most suitable for Families. Both restaurants serve authentic vegetarian food. Ample parking space is a huge advantage. The rooms are old fashioned and the AC needs to be on all the time to prevent walls, floors and Beds getting damp. This needs Management attention. We look forward to our next stay here.

Stayed as a couple. Loved everything. Great location, access, old world name & fame, good restaurant on site. One suggestion: there is supposedly no rooms that are No-Smoking; all rooms have ashtrays. But the staff insist that nobody smokes in the room and they are practically non-smoking. Room did not have any smoke smell either, which is good. I wish the rooms were made officially Non-Smoking.

Great hotel with large rooms and all amenities in place. Neat and clean. Service also good and staff responsive. Based on my one day stay. Breakfast was alright. No complains. Recommended. Open property, nice foliage around, old-school architecture, and great location in Mylapore.

This is a old traditional Hotel for premium diners. Good place to have good food. Service was little okay but nice place with a huge car park and to hangout for dining. It has a Tanjore Restaurant where you can get Authentic Tamil Nadu Meals everyday with limited tokens.

Rooms are decent and no complaints because of its pricing, location of hotel and it's service and staff. Best part is the restaurant, great food and good room service. Lots of restaurants within 1-3 km radius. Just 10 mins from the beach. In the heart of the city, good connectivity through public transportation. I stay here every time i visit Chennai.

Lovely place. Well managed. Easily the best place for authentic vegetarian. Efficient management and wonderful taste. One of the very few places in Tamilnadu maintaining their quality over its age. God bless

  • 5/5 Malini R. 2 years ago on Google
Best place to dine in with family & friends. They serve top class food(both quality & quantity). Also take away lunches are available. Reasonably priced, decent environment & has ample parking space in the heart of chennai city. They also have community halls for weddings & other functions along with lodging. Rooms are very spacious. When it comes to complete family stay, you can choose cottages ( small sized individual houses). Friendly staff. Overall Too good place to be.
