A really good place for a walk. It was poorly maintained, but thanks to a team called 'PLANET' who have come forward to maintain it. To bring awareness about maintaining the lake, PLANET conducts a lake festival which is a grand success.

Fairly large lake near my office. I had been near this water body once and I found the water to be fresh and incidentally witnessed people taking bath and washing their clothes. This is unusual in a city as big as Chennai. This lake can be well maintained and the area surrounding the lake can be made into a park or a walking or a jogging trail. Not a tourist place. Needs to be preserved - you can always see people washing clothes, cabbies washing their cars and localites bathing their livestock there. Some small food carts can be seen around the lake in the evenings, but they aren't huge and In most cases not hygienic or welcoming. But it is a huge water body and the breeze chills up the surrounding in the evenings.

One of the very few protected water body in Chennai city, with good view from all sides of the lake. One can spot Pelicans and lots of little cormorant feeding on fishes. This lake is spread over 57acres approximately and was once used for drawing water for irrigation purpose.

One of the very few large water bodies in Chennai, surviving the onslaught of irresponsible development. Recently the local citizens living around the lake joined together to form a registered association PLANET to protect this lake from encroachment and misuse. PLANET works with Govt and Chennai Corporation in preserving the water body.

Good place to promote tourism; however it is used for nature's call by many local people and for cleaning scores of IT vehicles ranging from mini cars to buses.. Government can step in and do many things like they did at Chetpet to the water body there...

Neat and clean.. although people don't enter the lake the pavement for walking s used by many.. the view and wind lightens us up and makes it a cake walk for people to cover the distance.. m living opposite to the lake a full moon, the view and the cool breeze from the lake in marghazhi s jus enough to chill out in the nature
