The Tiger Cave is a tourist destination and is located about 5 kilometers from the Mahabalipuram beach. It gets its name from the carvings of tiger heads on the mouth of a cave. The temple is believed to have been built in the 8th century AD by the Pallava dynasty. Visiting hours are from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on all days. You can also reach the beach behind this place. The beach is clean and not very crowded. The entrance fee: Foreigners: 300₹ Indians: 25₹ Childrens: Below 12yrs its free Parking fee: Car: 40₹ Bike: 20₹

The parking charges for car, bike is Rs.40 and 20 respectively. The entry ticket is Rs.25. This place is suitable if you want to see less crowded beach and some park where you can relax. Ideally suitable to go with family, sit and relax. Evening time is good there is one or two eatery shops but not sure of taste. The monuments in this place is very less. Give it a try if you want to come Mahabalipuram.

This looks like some kind of workshop for ancient builders to practice on rocks , you will find many rock cuttings and structures in and around, has a passage for beach which is generally not crowded, come prepared with sun tan lotions and umbrella. Sun can be ruthless, entry is 20 INR per adult and can be sourced from the counter or online....sometimes the guard is too lazy to issue tickets and will ask u to scan and get tkts online.well maintained and very interesting site for history lovers.around 5-7 kms from the city and has enough and more parking space.

This is again from a first time visitor. I am not sure why it is called 'Tigers cave'. However, we could capture some wonderful pictures. They have carved some wild animals in that. We need to keenly watch to understand those carvings. We can visit once for sure.

Really fun place to visit. Plenty of open ground to just stroll around or to have a picnic. Huge boulders with some carvings are placed here and there. An ideal place for a family to have some quality time. Request to all the tourists to adhere to safety protocols and not to litter.

Foreigners pay 600 INR for entry. Same ticket allows access to multiple sites. Overall nice experience. An official guide will cost you 2000-2500 INR, but will add a lot of detail to the sites and give an insight into Indian religions. Colorful area with lots of things to see. ATMs in the area might be problematic. I myself could not withdraw cash from the ATMs. Had to go to money changer, who charged a hefty changing fee.

Beautiful cave, located near the beach, tsunami stone and rocks carved shiva temple. A lot of stalls are here and you can get the best lemon juice here with is available near the beach. For entry you have to buy tickets. For locals it's 20 rupees per person.

I recently visited this place to spent time with my wife. It’s perfect place to spent time with family. It was very peaceful and clean. It has also clean beach to spent time. It will be really fun. It has also small fun activities. Please don’t miss this place. Near entrance there is a pair (old woman and man) who is selling tender coconut and some dishes. They are very kind and polite.

Nice place to spend for 2 hrs. Place is kept clean and good. Entrance for adults Rs.25/- Good landscaping and few large size rocks with carving. Beach is also at the back with few shops for juice, drinks, ice cream and few tiny game shops that are generally scene in beach area.

Not worth of visit this place paying car parking 40 rupees and 25 rupees per adult, kids below 15 is free. Good part is it has a beach connected. This should have the ticketing along with the main monuments. But one and only tiger cave is a great work to have a visit.

Simple park. I felt the charges were heavy. Rs.40 for the car parking, Rs.25 for the entry ticket (Indians) and Rs.300 for the foreign visitors- seems to very high price for this place.

What's a scam. ₹300 foe foreign nationals versus ₹25 for indian nationals. There are two monuments to see, no signs, no explanation. On the day we visited they were also burning foliage on site so you had to deal with all the smoke while walking around. Skip it. The state of Tamil Nadu needs to review their pricing policies, felt abused as a foreigner.

Awesome place to spend time with family and friends for 2-3 hours. It has two monuments one is tiger cave carved out of single rock and another is Shiva temple carved out if single rock. Apart from that there is a saptha kanni temple that is functional. The huge rock standing in a slanting position is a miracle. The area is well maintained with grass and trees that is neat and clean. The beach is not much crowded and the black sand adds beauty to the beach. The beach is bit deep from the shore itself. So it is advisable to stay on the shore and allow the waves to wet your feet rather than going little bit inside the water like any other beach. They have games for children that are paid ones. The entrance ticket is ₹25 for Indians above 15 and free for Indians below ₹15. The parking space is ample that charges ₹20 for bikes and ₹40 for cars. The toilet is neat and clean with ₹10 per person.

As I entered the site, I was awestruck by the grandeur and intricacy of the carvings. The cave temple, with its sculpted pillars and chambers, exudes a sense of mystique and reverence. The surrounding natural beauty adds to the serene atmosphere. It's a captivating glimpse into the artistic and spiritual legacy of the past.

Beautiful place - huge cave with tiger heads as the arch. It could be better maintained by ASI. We could see people treating the monuments as personal sofas - sitting, sleeping on it. ASI should be more proactive in protecting our monuments - instead, they are just out to harass photographers who just want to capture and showcase the beauty of our rich heritage - be it levying heavy fees for camera use or banning photography altogether at certain ASI locations.

Thus place is just a Rock cut cave on the seashore on which the Tiger sculptures are carved.Very hot place. You got Bus service to reach this place.I feel it does not have any tourist attraction. You can click some pictures near this rock. You need to take ticket by using bar code and pay through all online means like pay to Google pay etc.You are not allowed food inside.Goid parking place. You need to pay.Not a cave as such, more of Rock art carved into the standing rock.

This is one of the must visit sculpture in Mahabalipuram. The tiger cave has been so well sculptured that it feels so naturally done. Add some greenery and voila, I can tell you many may think it for real. The place is very cleanly maintained. The positive of this place is that even with serious footfall, the maintenance is at par.

Not sure why they have started collecting entry ticket... From now it will be just a one time visit for many... Not worthy... Better go to Mahabalipuram itself... if you prefer only beach go to near by places... Parking 40 for car and 20 for 2 wheeler... Entry ticket 25 for Indians... kids free... 300 for foreigners.... May be due to this many visitors like me will avoid visit from next time... There is nothing to collect entry fee... no coordinators available... You can spend some few hours and take few snaps... This will be a good choice only if you want to spend time with groups in a lawn...

(Translated by Google) The magnificent buildings of the Pallava Empire, which flourished during the sixth and seventh centuries, are a manifestation of a beautiful life of marine commerce, people's dancing, and prosperity in the port city of Mamallapuram. In front of the huge rock are eleven tiger faces, with its elephant in its head and four tigers standing. Find a place in the middle square. The king and the people celebrate the Indra festival, the king may sit in the hall and watch the festival, be it a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and the donor, an open space or even a dance hall. This is a partially complete historical site. There are no guides available here. The tiger cave looks majestic, but,it's not complete. But what's present is beautiful and surely worth a visit when visiting Mahabalipuram. There's a Shiva temple nearby with a lingam even outside, which is unique.

This is the place located 4 km from Mamallapuram and in the main ECR road. It looks like a park and well maintained area. It has an access to beach where the crowd was very low when comparing to other beaches in Chennai. People's believe that this is the world's First temple and the God is Lord Muruga.

A nice place to spend on a weekend with family. Travel time from Chennai would be close to 1 and half hours. Cave temples, sculptures and Beach are the main attractions. Vendors are available for food and kids play activities near Beach. Car parking is available and they charge Rs 40. Entry ticket is Rs 25 per adult. Free for Kids. Visiting hours are till 6PM. I don't recommend to stay back after dark as this place is quite remote. Nice Beach. But they should start cleaning it before it turns into a dumping yard. Not an over crowded place even during weekends. Tip: Plan to visit this place during noon. You can relax in the shade as this place is facing east.
