I had a chance to visit this airport twice. Every time I bewitched with beauty of Southern India art - culture and the mixed of modern age technology. There are many sculpture which show the south indian respect for their tradition. The full area is well maintained and cleanliness is good quality. The airport staff also have admirable behaviour. Many food court are available there. I got some Pizza and burger from Pizza Hut and KFC.

If there was an option of giving zero star I would do that because even though the new T2 international terminal is built well & looks good, they suck when it comes to maintenance. The airport is still supposed to be new but stickers peeling off, dusty interiors, smelly bathrooms, water split all over in the toilets, lounge food is good but their kitchen smells lousy & probably only airport in the world where luggage takes aeons to even get started and then even longer to arrive!! Zero enjoyable customer experience. They better Learn how to delight their customers Maintain it well else it will be trashed sooner than you think

The airport is pretty nice from a departure perspective, it's sanitised and a bit spacious. Bathrooms were surprisingly hygienic and had water fountains and electric hand dryers. Signs are pretty helpful and an airport map is present at the D1 terminal. Pretty decent amount of shops and appreciate the fact that there is a pretty large duty free store just past security. However, from a arrival perspective it's quite shabby airport experience as there was a pretty medium longish line for immigration and staff there were not effective at all.. and the staff are highly ineffective at security and international check in. The crowd management is really something that needs substantial imporvement and so is the efficiency of the staff. Baggage claim was also an issue at arrival, very large crowd in a somewhat compact space. Overall departure is pretty good but arrival other airports such as Bangalore are easily a much better choice.

The airport as any other capital state airport has all the amenities and services to ease commute. Morning and evening gets busy so do make sure you're 2hours before departure time. Post check in there are an array of shopping options and food menus too but the one that stands out is the first floor south Indian restaurant serving authentic thali and food. At the departure gate just next to the baggage belt 1 leads to the metro station. Outside area has separate counters for ola and uber Overall a well maintained and well connected airport.

This airport is located near to city. Having access to city via buses, local trains and metro trains. Very big airport and cleanly maintained. We have all facilities available here. The food alone costly as usual which is applicable in all airport, that has to be reduced. Otherwise wonderful experience here in this airport.

As an international Airport it was not vert charming. The place seems to be very shabby. Child care facilities, prayers room are available. After corona most of the shops are closed. If u think to purchase some last moment items for someone you batter not think of that. Shops are unnecessary expensive. This international airport should have been more organised and more passenger friendly. Freshrooms were also very dirty. I travelled 08 times through this airport and I didn't found any improvement.

Chennai Domestic Airport is a pleasant airport. It's clean and well maintained, even the bathrooms are quite clean. Baggage collection is smooth and exit out of the terminal is easy. Cab pickup is at the big flag right outside the terminal. But everyone has to pay Rs.40 even for entering for 2 minutes. Metro station is close by too. There is a hotel lounge by the metro than is not well marked, it can be a great place to rest for a few hours before or between flights. There is a lot of construction between the international and domestic terminal departures, so just be careful. They do need to improve access the highway, it takes 30min just to get to the highway and any place west of Chennai.

It's a clean airport with lots of historic sculptures... I love this airport. Though its not a modern airport but its simple and clean. The airport stuffs are helpful and they will make you feel safe. The sculptures at every corner of this airport which will give you idea about Indian Heritage. You can enjoy veg and non vegetarian foods from here.. Loving this place really...

The airport is served by the airport metro station of the Chennai Metro and the Tirusulam railway station of the Chennai Suburban Railway system. To cope with the passenger traffic, two new terminals, namely, T2 and one satellite terminal, are under construction to handle 40 million passengers per year.Once completed, it will be India's first airport to have a satellite terminal. The new satellite terminal will be connected through a four way underground walkalator for passenger movement across different terminals. Still, the Tirusulam airport complex is expected to reach saturation by 2035, with a peak capacity of 40 million passengers, and a proposal for a new greenfield airport in Chennai is underway for decades. Once the new airport is commissioned, both the airports will be functional. The domestic and the international terminals are named after former chief ministers of Tamil Nadu K. Kamaraj and C. N. Annadurai, respectively. It was the first airport in India to have international and domestic terminals located adjacent to each other. The airport serves as the regional headquarters of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for South India comprising the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala and the union territories of Puducherry and Lakshadweep..... There is a current plan of setting up of a new greenfield airport at Sriperumbudur and Tiruvallur taluks, apart from the expansion of the existing airport at Tirusulam. The greenfield airport would come up on 2400 acre of land. About โ‚น 200,000 million will be invested in a greenfield airport near Chennai, says Tamil Nadu's vision 2023 document. The feasibility report of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which has suggested that a second airport for the city could come up on 5,000 acres (2,000 ha) at Sriperumbudur, was submitted to the state government. The four-runway second airport is proposed to be built on 4,823 acres near Sriperumbudur, southwest of Chennai, at an estimated cost of โ‚น 35,000 million in the first phase and Second phase has not been disclosed. To be built in two phases, the anticipated expenditure for phase I of the project is โ‚น 40,000 million with an 87,000 sq m terminal along with a parking space for 750 vehicles. The second phase involves 1,50,000 sq m of terminal and enhancing parking space to accommodate 1,500 vehicles at an investment of โ‚น 14,750 million. The greenfield airport will be able to handle 40 million passengers per annum. As of September 2019, the State government has shortlisted six locations for the second international airport. These include Thiruporur (40 km from the present airport), Vallathur (70 km), Thodur (55 km), Mappedu (46 km), Cheyyar (90 km), and Maduramangalam (55 km).

Seats are very dirty & has lot of litter on it. APPEAL TO THE PASSENGERS - PLEASE DONOT LITTER THE PREMISES & MAKE THE SEATS DIRTY. IT WILL BE SHAMEFUL FOR THE COUNTRY. Otherwise the airport premises is beautiful & well maintained neat & clean except for the seats which are made dirty by the people using it. All amenities for passenger comfort are provided. Overall infrastruture @ the airport is of world class feeling. Toilets are well kept. Plenty of parking space is available @ very nominal cost if you put your vehicle there for a few days. Metro train runs besides the airport & Tirusulam local train station is on the other side of the road.

Will possibly receive a 5 star once it is complete but at the moment itโ€™s running on a incomplete construction. Facilities which are built are excellent but still waiting for shops, restaurants, pubs etc to open. Smoking lounge boards are there but does not exist. Get prepared before entering the airport as they will not tell you that it is a under construction airport serving international flights.

Well maintained airport, easy to reach by metro or any other public transport. Cab and taxi facilities available on the entrance. Have good parking space. The new ambience feels great. Have proper waiting lounge for the travellers with charging ports. Rest rooms are clean and hygiene. The security level of the airport is good. Felt very safe. Dislike The only thing they need to take care is the baggage conveyor , the luggages are fell down forcefully it may damage the trolley wheels or other things. So they need to install some rubber or something for that to prevent damaging the baggages.

One of the most beautiful airports in India. Irrespective of the controversies regarding glass shattering and lack of gates in the airport and all, it's still a very beautiful and esthetic airport. Very modern looking, direct connectivity to cabs and most importantly direct connectivity is there for Chennai metro which connects you with almost all major parts of the city

It's high time the management should find a way to expedite security screening by increasing both the staffs and screening equipment. Even during Covid-19 situation with reduced passenger footfall there was a long standing queue waiting to proceed for the security check.Lounges were closed when visiting on Oct 2020 but they were operating at a separate counter providing packed food of our choice.

Date Of Visit- 10th April, 2022 This Chennai domestic airport is situated right inside the city which also helps different transport ways. Both International and Domestic airports are located near to each other. There is too much of construction work going on, as the place is expanding, expect a lot of new changes with technologies soon. Restrooms are well maintained, neat and clean. Staffs are helpful. Security system is also very strict here.

Chennai airport is the best in having lot of cultural structures, silent but informed airport. No unnecessary ads. However toilet are nowhere to other metro airports, water spilled all over toilet. Lacks infrastructure and cleanliness where dusts are there. Hope they will build an international world class airport in upcoming new airport and maintain it properly. Pls have physically challenged and senior citizen in mind while planning new airport.

This is a small and efficient airport designed with convenient access and beautiful aesthetics. The flights I took were boarded directly from the terminal and did not require a shuttle transfer (unlike IAD). The airport gives a sense of spaciousness without being too big. There are beautiful murals along the way and helpful signs at every turn. Quite a variety of choices of places to eat from.

No proper pick up points . Rubbish because of ongoing work makes Chennai arrival one of the worst . Please provide proper organised pickup lanes , provide airport to Koyambedu Shuttle bus service and also metro for airport line once in an hour atleast post 12 am also .

The airport now has a very good connectivity with Metro. I used to always take a taxi from Chennai central to airport (that would cost around 600 Rs and take more than an hour depending on traffic). But this time decided to take the metro. It only took 40 mins and 40 Rs to reach the airport. I loved it. The boarding gate area has now got sleeping chairs to relax. Slept there for an hour as my flight got delayed. The food court is not fully functional yet.

Airport is maintained clean. Having enough parking space. Near the boarding gate only one shop is available which is having basic things like tea, coffee, some snacks and sandwiches. Few carbonated drinks and water. Less crowded on the day I travelled. All the formalities were done at fast. Vacation certificate is required to travel. Worst airport in the entire world. In 2022 it feels like 1980โ€™s when you arrive. Bags take ages to roll on the belt. If more than 1 flight is landed then immigration has serpentine queues. The new terminal and all that with our Chennai airport is cool. Nevertheless, for travellers who are flying in from abroad, please be reminded that youโ€™ll have to spend hours just waiting at the baggage lines. I wonder what takes so much time. The management needs to consider this and maybe even learn from other airports. If you have had a tiring flight, the waiting time at these lines even further deteriorate your strengths. Second thing that I would quote is that none of the authorities right from the people at the immigration, the various counters, taxi service, etc., sound welcoming. No one even wants to greet you with a hello. Again, we are not living in a perfect world but it would be good if people pay attention to these points. Thank you.

The airport has good facilities, especially charging station, lazy bed, and sofa are provided. But the security check procedure where not too smooth as we need to leave our pricey and invaluable electronic items away from us to go through the conveyer while we were asked to go to another room for personal checking. This means those electronic items were out of our sight for sometimes........i feel it is very worry some as our belonging could have been stolen or mixed up with other peoples belongings. ๆ ฝ่ตƒๅซ็ฅธcould also happen. We should have been able to watch our belonging pass through the security check.

It is very neat and clean. Almost every staff are very friendly and co-operative. The staff which handling X-Ray scanning machine and doing security check nearby needs to be a knowledge in English or Tamil. The people today standing there were only knows Hindi and it is very difficult to understand some Hindi words when not mixing any English word for a procedure.

They made my travel experience much more enjoyable. ๐Ÿ‘ Suggestions: Maybe consider adding more seating areas in the waiting zones for extra comfort during longer layovers. ๐Ÿ’ฌ Overall Experience: Chennai Airport is an excellent gateway to the city. I would highly recommend it to fellow travelers. Overall, a 4-star experience!

Overall departure is pretty good but arrival other airports such as Bangalore are easily a much better choice
