The station has everything you need. Food, books, water, retirement rooms, free to use toilet. The station is well maintained and you have very good connectivity between the station and different parts of the city. You have metro, local train, buses, cabs..etc right outside the station. In addition to this, they are coming up with an attraction. The central square which is opposite to the station where travellers can sit relax and then catch theri train. As for food options, there is everything from to veg,non veg, quick bites, snacks..etc Just recently came to know that platform tickets costs around 50. So be prepared. Don't just take a 5rs coin and go there like I did. They have good info centers and have displays everywhere to keep you updated.

This railway station is of the British era and a historic landmark in Chennai. The station is well maintained, litter free and very spacious. There is ample seating space for passengers that have to wait for their trains. A lot of stalls selling snacks and beverages offer food to waiting passengers. This being a massive stations I would advise you reach early to ensure you have enough time to go to the right platform to catch your train.

Chennai Railway station is one of the busiest railway station in India and largest in south India. Previously the name was Madras Central and after renamed the city Madras to Chennai it also became Chennai central. Chennai Central Railway station is an extremely clean, well ventilated station. Constant cleaning by the energetic staff is admirable. Lots of conveniently placed segregated trash bins. Easily available clean drinking water. No need to buy bottled water. Food stalls sell a variety of affordable food. The Retiring Rooms are well kept too.

One of the most iconic vintage building in Chennai from the British ear, just reminds us how historic Chennai is. You will always find people here in hustle to catch their trains. There are about 8 platforms where the trains arrive. A large waiting area, on the cleanliness scale I would rate Central 4/5 but kudos to the staff for trying to maintain the station. For food I would give it 3/5, I mean there are couple of eateries but having something western or oriental will help the deed. Accessibility wise I would give it 5/5 as you got the metro and the bus stop right in front. Trains from various parts of India come here so it's one of the most important stations out there. Overall if you're planning to catch a train, it's a really nice place.

Not a very big railway station as being a metro city but nicely poised as Chennai Central with metro station attached. Neat and clean station as usual as any southern Indian station. It's not as big as Howrah, Delhi or even Lucknow but it's maintained well.

I have an emotional connection with this station. As it is my ancestors place. The railway is really big and is connected to almost all places in India. It has historical background and many photos of British times are displayed on walls of the station. It's a built using rock blocks and bot by bricks. It has many salient features.

I came here during Vande Bharat Train event so security was much tight. Hygienic and clean place. It's a metro city station so have to be larger.CSMT,Hawrah,Delhi stations are much larger than this. Being a Maharashtrian I thought Tamil language may become barrier but people's are helpful over here.

Chennai Central Railway Station, an iconic landmark of Chennai, stands as a testament to the city's rich history and its pivotal role in India's railway network. The station's grandeur is immediately apparent in its imposing façade, a blend of Gothic and Romanesque architectural styles, which has been a welcoming sight for travelers for over a century. Upon entering, one is greeted by the hustle and bustle typical of a major Indian railway station. The station is always abuzz with activity, reflecting the dynamic spirit of Chennai itself. It serves as a major hub, connecting the city to various parts of the country, and handles an impressive volume of passengers daily. The station's layout is expansive, with multiple platforms accommodating a wide array of trains, from local services to long-distance express trains. Signage and information boards are plentiful, aiding navigation, though during peak hours, the station can feel overwhelming due to the sheer number of passengers. Amenities at Chennai Central are adequate, with waiting rooms, restrooms, and refreshment stalls available. However, these facilities, while functional, could benefit from regular maintenance and upgrades, particularly to enhance cleanliness and comfort. The station's connectivity to the city is excellent. It is well-linked by road and has its own metro station, making it easily accessible. Auto-rickshaws, taxis, and buses are readily available for onward journeys. In conclusion, Chennai Central Railway Station is not just a transit point but a slice of Chennai's history and culture. While it effectively serves its purpose as a transportation hub, there is room for improvement in terms of passenger amenities. Nonetheless, its architectural beauty and the vibrancy of its surroundings make it a noteworthy landmark in the heart of Chennai.

One of main railway station in tamilnadu. If you want to go somewhere else out of tamilnadu, You can start from here. But you want to take care of your things. Because your things can be looted easily by someone. Restroom facilities are there. If you have train your allowed to step inside a station, otherwise you want to take platform ticket.

The station is very crowded. Cleanliness was ok as expected just like any other railway station. But still it has its own kind of beauty . The building structure and design was a mesmerizing scene especially at night . And also there is a giant indian flag posted in the front which makes the scene more patriotic and happy .

MGR Central Railway Station Chennai is among the busiest. This station has integrated Veg and NonVeg restaurants and also Mini Tea Snack Stall. Station offers multiple information display for journey schedules and has a decent retiring rooms. Toilets may not be very clean owing to higher public movement ratio but comparatively better than other stations.

For those travelers who would like to explore how Indian railways work, Chennai railway station is an ideal one to check out. The station is housed in a British era building. Despite the crowd is well maintained and is clean. In case if some one just wants to check out the place do buy a platform ticket to visit as in India without platform tickets one can't enter the railway station. There is no need to buy the platform tickets if one is traveling by a train starting from there..
