I have visited here in National Crafts Musium with Family. I loved the place because my kids enjoyed and learn something new. This is not just a photo museum. Here you can see history of our culture and daily living things in olden days. New generation have not seen that kind of things which was used by our ancestors. I have visited on Sunday and I did not need to wait to enter into the museum. Tickets can be purchased inside the museum. You need to pay 20 rupees only per person. This museum built in a large area so you need to have at least 2 hours to watch whole museum. You can't do videography in some areas but you can click pictures everywhere.

Phenomenal collection of Indian crafts, textiles, and art. Highly highly recommend checking this place out for an informative and relaxing experience. Love their collections. If able to, the audio tour provides great context about the exhibits. Many times they will also have live vendors and musicians for you.

Beautiful place with a serene atmosphere. Although you might not have any prior knowledge of ancient handicrafts or arts, but you certainly get to know a lot through this place. And even if you don't want that, a small walk throughout the museum will instill you with warmth. A place that deserves to exist.

Wow! I couldn't believe my luck stumbling upon this absolute gem of a place! It all happened during my visit to the much sought-after Cafe Lota, where I got the opportunity to explore the area while waiting for a table. And let me tell you, it was worth the wait! The place was so well-maintained, showcasing exquisite crafts and textiles from states across India. I was simply blown away by the way everything was presented - it was a feast for the eyes! I'm already dreaming of going back for a proper experience, and I'm sure it's going to be even more exciting the next time around!

Situated in South Delhi, near Pragati Maidan, the crafts museum is a treat to the eyes. If you enjoy learning about cultures and crafts, you’ll definitely be amazed by the museum. The museum has numerous galleries, village complex, crafts demonstration, AV room, amphitheater and a restaurant called Cafe Lota.

The entry is free but you have to pay for audio guides. Decent museum of textiles, crafts etc. Well maintained place. Despite visiting on a Sunday, it wasn't too crowded. There's a cafe at the entrance called Cafe Lota, which is a decent cafe to sit down and talk after exploring the museum.

This is a place where you can feel your ancient era and the feeling is too good you find there every thing which is made by our ancestors. Entry fee is 20 rupees only and kids upto 12 year old have free entry means.there is no fee for kids. But if you are a student and you have identity card then you can also go without paying entry fee only you can write your information at there in register and then explore the awsm experience of your life. Staff is also too good no one is there for disturbing you. It is a family place where you can go with your family and also with kids. Outer thinks you can explore but if you want to go inside then you have to submit your begs and other things. Because no bags or camera is allowed inside the rooms.

Visited on a Saturday. It is an amazing place. The museums are very well maintained. Serene place worth spending time in. See the arts and crafts of various Indian regions. The village created outside is a pleasure to visit: of course its not a live-in village but a real, life size one for an experience. Good for all ages, I had my 85+ Yr old parents, mother on wheelchair, they really enjoyed it. A real learning for the young here.

A good place where you find different objects and things particularly the crafts of certain states. This place depicts the rich cultural heritage of different states. If you're a fan of history and crafts, this place is a must visit. I took a metro to the Central Secretariat and then an auto to this place. The entry is free but to visit the museum inside, you have to keep bags (if you have one with you) in their lockers. (Or just place them in the office). That felt a little bit unsecure because anyone could come and grab anyone's bag. The lockers didn't have a locking mechanism and were open too. There's also a section where they showcase the different building styles of different states. Some were accurate. Some are far from accurate. Outside there were also some shops selling stuff native to certain states. All in all, a good place to visit if you want to kill time and look at some historical stuff.

I recently visited the National Craft Museum in Delhi and would highly recommend it, especially for artists. I opted for the audio tour device, priced at ₹100 for English and ₹60 for Hindi. The device provided valuable insights into the showcased arts, enhancing my overall experience.

The place where history is brought to life. Experience the beautiful Indian history and the craft of our artists at the National Crafts Museum. One can experience the architectural marvels and the textile gallery which hosts an extensive collection of traditional Indian handicrafts. Its a living museum where crafts live. It also showcases sculptures, paintings, textiles and other objects associated with the rituals of various religions in India. The museum will take upto 1-2 hours of your time. So plan accordingly and then you can have some tasty cuisines at Cafe Lota which is located inside the premises. Highly recommended!!!

The National Gandhi Museum or Gandhi Memorial Museum is a museum located in New Delhi, India showcasing the life and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. The museum first opened in Mumbai, shortly after Gandhi was assassinated in 1948. The museum relocated several times before moving to Raj Ghat, New Delhi in 1961.

Went to the National Crafts Museum which was closed at the moment. So we decided to dine in the Cafe Lots operated inside and by the Museum. The ambience of the cafe is pretty nice and the food was amazing. They have many options for Tea & Coffee. They primarily serve North Indian cuisine and it was one of the best I had in Delhi. I'd recommend this place who want something offbeat on their platter.

The National Gandhi Museum showcases the life of Mahatma Gandhi.Well i would say it's worth visiting. It has a large collection of original books, journals, photographs, materials & papers connected to Gandhi.Very well presented and hugely informative. On the first floor there's a hall to watch a movie about his life. The garden around includes some nice landscapes. The calm greenery of the gardens helps to alleviate the solemnity of the story. Overall it's Great✋

There is no dedicated parking. We have to park at the side of the road. This place is maintained by Geographical Survey of India. This is our second visit. The place looks better than my previous visit. Grill gate has been constructed in the front. Marble sitting place has been built. Around 10 local people were sitting near the Fossil woods. Few guys were singing Gaana song. This doesn't serve the purpose of the historical place. This should be taken care. There is a path which leads to the backside. The environment is good there. You will get a view of River Sankarabharani. My father told water is not coming in the toilet.

The National Gandhi Museum and Library as the name suggests is both a museum and a library, the former dedicated to the great father of the nation of India, the latter mostly a library, but with an emphasis on Gandhi. The museum chronicles the life and times of Gandhi through exhibits, photographs and paintings. If you want to know about the achievements of the great many, this museum is one of the best places to do that.

It is a very informative place. It has huge collection of data on Gandhiji. The collection starts from his early age untill his demise. It also has some technological advancements that you can enjoy like the recreation of Gandhiji's heart beat and Gandhiji's address to the nation through the telephone. One of the many attractions related to Gandhiji is the huge collection of Charkhas. A mesmerising place indeed.

A beautiful open air museum situated on Bhairon Marg in the Pragati Maidan area of Delhi. It has a wonderful ambience and showcases the wide diversity of handicrafts of India. There are stalls set up by craftsmen and women who are invited from distant parts of the country. You can admire their wares and even purchase them if you wish to do so. There are live performances by traditional artists as well. This is the perfect place to visit with your children and especially foreign friends to have them catch a glimpse of the traditional arts and crafts of India.

It is run by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. The museum is situated on the corner of the Pragati Maidan, facing the Purana Qila complex.

Mirrors are so dirty and some place are close in the museum . But overall best place to visit with children The National Science Museum in Delhi is one of the most popular and largest science museums in India. It is a great place for children and adults alike to learn about science and technology through interactive exhibits, workshops, and educational programs. Many visitors have praised the museum for its wide range of exhibits, which cover a variety of scientific topics and concepts. The museum features several permanent galleries such as the 'Hall of Nuclear Power' and the 'Gallery of Transport,' which showcases the evolution of transport in India. The museum also has several temporary exhibitions, events, and workshops that keep visitors engaged and interested in learning about science. The 3D theatre and the planetarium are also quite popular among visitors. Visitors have also appreciated the efforts of the museum staff in making the exhibits engaging and informative. They have commended the staff for their willingness to answer questions and for their knowledge about the exhibits. On the downside, some visitors have pointed out that the museum can get crowded during peak hours and that the facilities could use some improvement. Additionally, some have noted that the museum may not be suitable for very young children, as some exhibits require a basic understanding of science concepts. Overall, the National Science Museum in Delhi seems to be a great place for anyone interested in science and technology. It offers a unique learning experience and provides visitors with a chance to explore and discover the wonders of science

Loved how the museum was curated. It was easier to find our way around the galleries and the exhibitions. Esp, loved the textile gallery and exhibition on Brocade while the Craft Village reminded me of something I wanted to back home. Nice audio tour. Not overwhelming. Good place to buy gifts from local artisans. Only downside is the vendors are always trying to sell you more (which is normal in India) which makes just browsing difficult.

It's the perfect place for those interested in art & crafts. The place is just wow so greenery, you can walk, sit & enjoy your day. No entry fees. Also there are few stalls who were selling handmade things like paintings, clothes (saree, kurtas) & jewellery. To explore the full museum you need at least 2 hrs so come accordingly. There is one cafe (cafe lota) inside the premises so if you get tired while exploring the museum you can enjoy the food here they have a variety of food items.

Honestly, this place is for those who love art and crafts and want to know about them in our history. The entry is free for Indian citizens. If you are thinking of visiting here with your family and friends, forget about it. This place is extremely boring for us normal non artistic people. Better Go to the Zoological park near it.

Nearest metro station - supreme court ticket fees - free for Indian citizens and 300 for foreign visitors. The audio guides are also available. This museum has three areas predominantly - cafe , museum and crafts demonstration area. The cafe has a good ambience but has waiting time, bit overpriced and could have more variety on the menu. The museum has a variety of artifacts and textiles put on show. One can see the craftsmen working in the demonstration area and you can also support them by buying their products.

Don't ever miss out this place if you are in Delhi. This museum is a village complex. It is one of the unique places in Delhi. There is a very good cafe inside-Cafe lota. Try to go there too.

They have evolved into a decent museum but still need to do a lot more. Most of the public comes there to visit Cafe Lota, the eating joint within the premises. But the museum does have a decent collection of antiques and folklore based handicrafts, from different communities, tribes and dynasties in India. They have so much of space and they are based in the capital city - which is why they need to a much better job. Also the gift shop is just so-so. Though you can just go, buy a ticket - see it and then head to Lota for some mutton samosas.

This is a really cool place to hangout with your family or for a date. They have a great cafe/restaurant (Lota) and the some interesting exhibits in the museum. They also have craftsmen that sell amazing handmade products. But, the parking is very limited and they don't maintain the different styles of indian huts that are exhibited outside.

They are artisans from all over India. They also have themes running from time to time. Cafe lota is a good place to enjoy a heart meal post the visit. Amazing food inspired from cultures of India.

A crafts museum located at the corner of Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. It is a popular tourist attraction and is visited by tourists. This museum is commonly known as National Crafts Museum. It is one of the largest crafts museum in India. This museum houses a village showcasing wooden artifacts, embroidery, artificial jewelry, handicrafts etc. It also has an auditorium, a laboratory, research and documentation facilities etc. This museum is run by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. There are various galleries within the museum. It is open from 9.30 am to 5 pm. This museum is closed on Mondays. It is accessible from Pragati Maidan metro railway station. Had admired the different types of handicrafts and observed the Craftsmen creating the beautiful handicrafts as a school going child. This museum is an ideal place for families as well as school children. It is a must visit and should not be missed.

Various galleries within the museum include the Tribal and Rural Craft Gallery, Gallery of Courtly Crafts, Textile Gallery, Gallery of Popular Culture etc.[6] Some of its prized collection include, the 250-300-year-old, Bhoota Collection from Karnataka, rare Kashmiri 300-year-old ‘dushalas’, handkerchiefs from Chamba, known for their unique embroidery, rare brocade and Baluchari saris, Kutch embroidery, precious metal jewellery and much more. The museum is popular for an exhaustive collection of textiles.[7] The museum also houses a village complex spread over 5-acre (20,000 m2), with 15 structures representing village dwellings, courtyards and shrines from different states of India, with items of day-to-day life displayed. The entire village complex is a remnant of a temporary exhibition on the theme of rural India, held in 1972. Today several traditional craftsmen in residence at the museum, can be seen working in a designated area within the museum complex, who also sell the crafts they create.[8]

One more thing for your kind information these rocks are safeguard for years so kindly have a gentle visit over the place so that it can be preserved for the next generation

A nice little place for the geologically inclined and general folks as well. Well worth the visit if you are going to Pondicherry. What you will find here are very old trees that were buried underground and petrified (turned into stone) by minerals which seep into the cells of the tree and turn solid. What is left is a stone which retains the exact shape of the tree. Eventually these fossilized remains were exposed above the ground and can be found here. The place is decently maintained although there are hardly any people. These kinds of places need more publicity to educate the public. Very good if you want to spark interest in science in the minds of young kids.

It's a place where you can leisure for less than a hour, try to be here before 12pm, otherwise the heat will make you dry fish. This place contains water tank (not filtered) and pathetic toilet. No car parking 👎, if you are a geologist yu will love this place, if yu are tourist it will not hype your feelings.

Located at last in the village with a splendid river view. Many stone trees are lined up everywhere but not maintained. One of a kind place lacks people awareness about geo heritage sites. Quick visit is enough, max time of 1 hour for complete visit. Restrooms are there and neat.

  • 5/5 Kalyan S. 3 years ago on Google
The intention to make a grand exhibition of the fossils by the Government Department is praise worthy. The general public should not take this place for a picnic-spot . It is a place of awareness-building and research. I am of the opinion that we should find out the real reasons ...why they all got accumulated in such a specific geographic location. Flowing magma can carry rock ...and not a flowing river !! There is still a lot to research about its origin and local history.

Crafts museum is an amazing place for arts lovers, or people who are into handlooms, textiles, architecture. Atmosphere is calm and has greenery maintained. There are a number of galleries for each kind. There is a market after the gallery where you can buy specialities of each states like shawls from Kashmir etc. The place also houses village gallery where they have huts or model houses from various indian states. Somehow the village gallery is less visited as most of the people aren't even aware as it's in the back side. Good for kids/youth to learn about some history. Near Pragati maidan metro, may be 20 minutes walk. Wheelchair accessible mostly. Has washrooms and drinking water facility. Also has a restaurant 'Cafe lota' in the campus.

There is also a dedicated market sort of an area where you buy things. I bought a jute sling bag only for INR 250 which is relatively cheap from online jute stores. Apart from this you can also enjoy some delicious food at the cafe on the entrance. Overall it is a place where you can go to appreciate and learn about different arts from sculpture to textiles everything is there.

An amazing peaceful experience into the own world of India and its culture and rich heritage that you would savour for very long time. Truly a saved and well preserved gem in the heart of Delhi. The open-air museum has ample of stuff to know the wide diversity of handicrafts in India. There are Tribal art, traditional indian art, indian handlooms, huts that still belong and are alive in many different regions of States that are enough to catch your eyes and spend a few more minutes at the each stall set up by craftsmen on the pavement before you further witness a live performance by Rajasthani villagers. This is a quaint place, not very popular with tourists. There are huge terracotta statues at the entrance under a dense canopy of trees. The various galleries are located in a single storeyed complex with sloping teracotta tiled roof with a verandah which gives it a native vibe. There are various galleries starting from tribal crafts to courtly crafts. But the most impressive is their textile gallery. They have an extensive collection which is well curated. Beyond the galleries there is a section demonstrating various rural dwellings and a small area for sale of crafts.

Was here on Saturday afternoon. The place was not crowded. Tickets can only be purchased with cash and digital payments are not accepted which is a downer. Bags are not allowed inside the museum but there is a loan locker available. Audio guide is available but is not recommended. The audio guide would cost you hundred rupees but I did not think it worth as most of the items on display have descriptions alongside it. There is a cafe near the museum and exhibition and sales stalls. I wouldn’t say this is a must visit museum have seen better museums in Delhi and in other states.

Guys trust me if you were a fan of tribal museum Bhopal, this place is not going to disappoint. From the enclosed galleries to the open exhibitions the museum never disappoint for a single minute. So much to learn about the tribal practices and culture. Live size sample of their vernacular dwelling units are beautiful. I personally am a fan of the Naga Hut. I can not emphasis on how much I love the transitioning spaces and courtyards that link the galleries cohesively. There is a big Rath sample kept in the central courtyard with is worth a sight. And how can I forget the Aristocratic gujrati wood house and the jharokhas next to it. If that's not enough to intrigue you then how about drying your hairs the ancient style with a ancient gujrati hair drier 😌?. I mean lol. I gave too much info.haha, Rest explore on your own and find your hidden gem 😉.

The place is really open and beautiful. The food is authentic and delicious. I will suggest to try himachali thali. This place has different kachha and pukka houses to represent different states. If you want to visit the museum, you can visit anyday except Mondays, although cafe remains open everyday.

Durimgy college time it is not that happening, just we go there and sketch, paint and come back, but now it is so beautiful and it is also with modern touch. They have exhibitions and mesuem which so huge and diverse. Textile showcase is tremendous. I recommend this place those who are interested or wanted to know more about Indian textile heritage. FREE ENTRY for Indians, foreigners will be paid entry. Cafe Lota inside the campus is also very nice and food is just like homemade.

Lot of efforts are put to recreate the villages in between the busy roads of Delhi. It’s all decorated with Warli, Saura, Gond paintings on the walls. Rich in colours and the intricate designs. It’s peaceful. No entry fee. Can stay as long as you want. Handicrafts and tribal art seems very expensive. Drawing charts are around ₹1000. I felt it is highly priced.

The National Crafts Museum in Delhi is a treasure trove of old and unique handmade crafts. I was fascinated by the intricate details and the rich history behind each piece. It's a place where tradition and artistry come together beautifully. I highly recommend visiting and immersing yourself in the world of Indian craftsmanship. ✨🎨
