Decent place, spacious but super crowded on weekends. Good for families.Food was okay. Some of their special dosas were a disappointment. The saptaswarangal dosa which is basically 7 mini uthappams and the rajarajacholan dosa was a big let down. We were not a big fan of it. But their neer dosa was too good, loved the coconut and vellam side that was provided. Starters were alright.

Was here for buffet lunch. Spread had a good variety. Food was average- nothing great. Place was crowded. Cutlery should be cleaned better. Desserts was disappointing. Ambience is done well.

An excellent place to enjoy Vegetarian food in T Nagar. They have an exhaustive buffet for both lunch and dinner. Alacarte options are also available for the day and dinner. All dishes on the sumptuous breakfast buffet were delicious. Only regret is that they don't serve Dosa as part of the buffet like other places! The place is spacious and well lit. But we aware that the popularity of the place attracts a lot of crowd and some times this can be annoying as the sound can be quiet loud.

A fine dining pure vegetarian restaurant. Usually crowded. Reserving a table is highly recommended. They have both buffet and ala carte and we opted for ala carte as the buffet menu wasn't highly pleasing. The ambience is good and divine. The place is maintained neat and clean. We tried a number of different dishes and the starters stole the show. Naan(a type of roti) was very thick and it was very difficult for us to cut as well as chew the naan. All of us had a jaw pain after we completed our dinner. The rates are very high as compared to other restaurants. The service was a little poor but may be because of the heavy crowd.

We had a birthday party celebration there. Overall service and food option was great. Buffet spread was sumptuous!! Unfortunately for us, it was the evening India was chasing against Bangladesh and hence majority of the staff were glued onto TV, rather than attending to the needs of customers. Valet parking was available for us.

Mathsya is an old only veg gem newly renovated and improved. Their buffet breakfast is one the most cost effective and tasty options available in Chennai. Food taste, plating, quantity & quality were awesome 👍, their pasta was tasty, tried their golgappe platter, 10 big size puris with different flavoured panis esp the pineapple one was unique and quirky. We had maharashtrian poha, it was tasty and brought back memories of eating poha in Mumbai. Cutting chai and masala chai almost tasted the same, but tasty. They have a well lit ambiance, 15+ 2x2 tables for 4. In the middle they have the buffet island. I recommended to add a kids menu to reduce portion size and of course reduce cost esp for kids, as the portion of pasta was big enough to waste or pack the rest of it home. Waiters need to be a bit more attentive when customers are asking for a bill. On the bill/check a QR code is printed to give feedback, I'd recommend them to print the payment QR code to improve digital payment. Feedback QR can be pasted in the check folder. Adjoining the restaurant they have a chaat corner and Bistro/bakery, downstairs they have a mini banquet hall to conduct small functions like kids birthday party. Can park 4 cars in front and street parking. Wheelchair accessible entrance. 25+ bikes can be parked at front and side. Recommended for Family and large groups to have reunion/ get together. I'll definitely organize my next family get together here and visit their restaurant hungry for more..

I had got a chance to visit this restaurant with my family today. I saw the reviews online for this restaurant and decided to give it a try. It's very rare to see Veg only buffet restaurants in the market. This restaurant lived up to my expectations. They had good varieties of food in the buffet and the taste was also good apart from a couple of dishes. They had Surakai halwa and Aval Payasam in their dessert and both tasted fine. They could have added a few more items to their menu but still I would say this is worth the money you spend. Starting from soup till the end everything looks good. The customer service was good as well as the ambience of the restaurant. Overall it's worth the money and would definitely try again when I get a chance.

I had my mother's birthday celebration hosted at the banquet hall. From the hotel side, it was an awful experience. I would not recommend this place at all. 1. Food was not heated. We did not pay for cold food. 2. Onion chutney was asked for many times. Till the end it was not served. 3. Microphone was not ready at the time of the event. Constant disruptions and poor quality of audio throughout. The video experience was spoilt. 4. Servers were not appropriately allocated. We had to call the manager to make sure food was being served properly. 5. Cake was not cut when asked. Many guests left without eating cake. 6. When cake was cut later, it was cut poorly and in a haphazard manner.

We went there for a birthday party, it was good. They have enough space for hosting 80-100 in a birthday party hall. The food was mouth watering, would love to go again. Parking is bit difficult.

This used to be one of my favourite places to eat with family but not anymore. The wait time is minimum 30 mins and the food quality has come down now. We went for dinner buffet and I couldn’t find a good dish other than curd rice and dosa. I am sorry to say this, we had a terrible experience. Hope the food and service improves for good.

I am a regular customer of Mathsya egmore. I had a chance to visit Mathsya tnagar yesterday. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I felt people were all busy watching CSK vs GT in TV which is a good sign. We ordered the following items Rasa vadai Sambar vadai Dahi vadai Idly Peas masala dosai Rose milk Bisebillabath Rasa vadai is our regular order in Mathsya. It can never go wrong. Everything taste good. However dahi vadai wasn’t made well. Boondhi at the top weren’t crispy enough. Quick service. Spacious dining. They serve the buffet too.

Very good Breakfast spread for Rs 159 including coffee and tea. Small kids eat for free. The ambience is very relaxed in morning unlike other vegetarian competitors. Only complaint is the corner tables need better pest control machines

We hired one hall. Unfortunately the hall size was too small to accommodate 100 and have the food served there itself. Food taste was definitely good (Quite a few of the items that we had including Veg Soup, Dal, Peas Pulao, Curry and the starters were nicely prepared ) A little bit of space to move around would have been better.

I regularly dine at the restaurant. On weekends it is usually buffet and a-la-cart facilities are available on weekdays. Good for both quick breakfast and late evening sit-in dinners. Choice of vegetarian dishes, both South and North Indian varieties, are available. With a brief wait one can get seats even on a busy day. Valet parking is an added advantage.

Nice ambience. Family friendly. The food quality was quite good indeed! The taste could be a little better or maybe it was me who felt that way! Anyways, we all came home with too full a tummy still worried that we haven't tasted everything that was there. Kids had a great time eating what they individually like and also exploring new edibles. A Great time we had!

Mathsya restaurant is located on the road itself. Basement has two air conditioned halls for get together. Around 100 persons gathering is possible. Rest rooms are available. Restaurant is on the ground floor. Lay out of basement and ground floor is very good. Printed menus of five types are available and one can choose any one of them. Payment by credit card and UPI options are available. Overall a decent and good experience Payment

A Pure veg restaurant, which has buffet and a la carte, but is as crowded and noisy as a Central Station. People and severs bumping into each other, several people waiting outside. The purser then sends another couple to occupy the empty seats in front of you. So much for fine dining and the money we paid for a nice lunch or dinner. The money was nice anyway but the food and presentation did not live up. They either need to expand space or restrict incoming by limiting bookings. Food is definitely overrated. However for pure vegetarian people, who are suspicious of mixed food eating places this maybe one of the few choices. The glasses to drink water were not clean, neither was the water bottle itself.

U have a special counter for chat.. And desert lovers must visit.. U have a separate counter like a cake shop for desserts too. It is perfect for a date. The lighting and atmosphere is good.

I had the breakfast buffet there. Very good spread of poha, full South Indian, few chats. Food is excellent. Service is okay. Try to go early, or else things start getting over. I would say it's absolutely worth it. So just give it a try. They even have lunch and midnight buffet. Parking is easy to find.

The restaurant is good one with tasty foods, their south Indian breakfast and lunch are feather in their cap. Only thing is their food can be enjoyed only on weekdays, On Weekends and holidays never ever visit the restaurant ( any of the restaurants in the city is not advisable ) because tasting the tastier food gets spoiled due to heavy rush and waiting for the table. Just have your food at home this will be the best. I have been to this restaurant several times my worst experience was on 02.10.2023

  • 5/5 Mohammed M. 4 years ago on Google
Good finest quality south indian food is served here. Variety of dosas are served here. They have recently renovated this place. Ambience is good. Breakfast buffet at 150 Rs per person is a steal deal. They serve food till 11 30 which is very good. Staffs are polite.

I noticed too many negative comments on the restaurant after renovation but I didn't find anything of the sort. After our shopping in T Nagar, we wanted to try this restaurant for lunch. We actually wanted to try this few days before but it wasn't happened so we don't want miss the chance this time. It's a pure veg retaurant offers buffet & a la carte for all 3 sessions. Restaurant has total of 180 seats with 20 & 40 in 2 diff rooms. Commonly u can seat 120 max. It's spacious. Started with the service of soup in the table if u opt for buffet. Buffet got all standard items. Starters were not that good and most were soggy and hard. Main course pasta & noodles were excellent. Desserts too. Thw welcome drink blue curacao based is we liked. All service personnel were excellent. Refilling of food took little longer but its ok. Recommended for a decent food lovers.

Great ambience, wonderful service, and a range of cuisines and fusion dishes made dining here a pleasant experience. All of this comes at a reasonable cost. This place is perfect if you want to meet/hang out with people as it's not crowded or cramped. There are interesting dishes such as Raja raja cholan dosa (a fun take on Guntur karam dosa), paneer tacos, pastas, enchiladas, and the usual North Indian and South Indian dishes. Mathsya also has a chaat bar and a buffet. Sometimes, places offering buffets don't have as much variety or quality when you go a la carte. Here, though, pretty much everything including coffee was excellent. My only complaint is they pass off tutti-frutti flavored ice cream in green color as pistachio ice cream. I've had much better pistachio ice cream elsewhere and won't have it again here.

The varities of food covered in the buffet is limited. However, the quality of food is above average. Certain dishes are very good and you pick easily those dishes. Being a hardcore non-vegetarian I went and ate here which is not of much disappointment. The ambience is very good and you can spend a quality time with your friends & family. You can try once even if you are a non-vegetarian for its ambience and quality dishes.

Being an age old and reputed hotel, we engaged their hall for a function. Recently renovated too, so the ambience was good. But even the food was not refilled in the buffet properly. Expected us to keep calling them multiple times till the guests were irritated. Forced us to engage their worthless decorator. SS Decorations, who gave us few templates and forced us to choose from them. Quoted 12000 for a simple backdrop with zero lighting. Included entrance decorations in the pricing and never bothered to put it up. Torn sofa. Never expected such behavior from Mathsya and it's associates. Please don't go to this place for a function. Just a simple meal is all they are capable of doing.

This place is best in taste when you go for alcart instead of buffet. I found buffet waste of money and you can fill your tummy bit you cannot enjoy the real taste.Mangalore and Kannadiga dish is very good and you can try the same. Parking is not an issue for four wheeler and two wheelers. Bit crowded in weekend and better to go for reservations.

Mathsya is an Udupi style restaurant that has 3 branches in Chennai. The Egmore branch is the best. The T Nagar branch is bigger than Egmore branch and is very good for large group breakfast buffets. The Adyar branch which is even bigger has Mexican and Chinese items in the menu and that's a bit unique for a pure vegetarian restaurant. Go to the T Nagar branch for breakfasts (spl:Pineapple Kesari), Egmore branch for the special items mentioned below(in bold) > Udupi Thali (on weekdays) > Lunch/Dinner buffets and Adyar branch for Mexican/Chinese Items > Lunch/Dinner Buffet > Udupi Thali (on weekdays). Items to try: RASAM VADAI, CHILLI CHEESE TOAST, Cheese Balls, MANGALORE BONDA, Thattu Idly, Kadubu Idly (no jackfruit leaves), KARA UPPU PULI DOSAI, Mysore Masala Dosa, Raja Raja Cholan Dosa, Rocket Dosa(huge), Ghee Roast, MANGALORE BUNS, BISIBELABATH, Green Peas Masala, Thayir Vadai, Basundhi, Coffee...Neer Dosa(bland?), Guliappa(paniyaram). Lunch Buffet has some good items including Hariyali Paneer, Palak Paneer, Noodles, Pasta, Pudina Rice, Veg Biryani, Aviyal, Bread-Green peas Masala, Dal Makhani, Missi Roti, Aloo Dum Banarasi, Payasam, Basundhi, Waffles, Coffee. Some of these items may not be available in Egmore or on all days. The good Mexican, Chinese items in Adyar branch are Enchiladas, Lotus Stem, Rosemilk, Mexican Cheese Pizza, 3 Pepper Quesadilla, Kadai Vegetables, Chole Bhature, Schezwan Noodles.
