🫤 This is not the first time that I have been to Amdavadi. However, the food quality and choice has gone down drastically. Starting with the menu, it is presented as a photocopied A4 paper. There were hardly much to choose from for a la carte and there is only 1 lunch thali. The thali has way too many... This is not the first time that I have been to Amdavadi. However, the food quality and choice has gone down drastically. Starting with the menu, it is presented as a photocopied A4 paper. There were hardly much to choose from for a la carte and there is only 1 lunch thali. The thali has way too many items for a quick lunch. We ordered khichdi with kadhi, kakra cheese toast and roti with Aloo subzi. All were a disappointment in the sense that those dishes had lost their Gujarati flavor. Only saving grace was the Rajwadi chaas. Service was good. The waiting staff did their best to lift up the once good restaurant with all its deficiencies in the food department. I hope the management takes it in the right spirit and does something to tweak the flavor of the dishes to what it was earlier. Till then, I would definitely avoid.

Went there for lunch and ordered thali. we had to choose starters/main course/dessert from a limited options. they claim it is unlimited but not sure which part is unlimited. portion sizes for each item was ok to less. there was sweetness across all dishes. while starters were above average inspite of sweetness, main course was complete disappointment. bread was dry, kadhi nothing to write about. limited items available for main course (1 rice, 1 roti and 1 side). while cost is moderate to high options and value is not there. overall a disappointing experience and will not visit again. Ambience -4 food -2 Service -3

Really tasty and mild food. Though the price appears high on the menu, the quantity is quite filling and justifies the price. The simple but classy theme is reflected in the food as well as the ambience. Truly beautiful photos of different Gujarati community people adorn the wall. The look has been unaltered from the beginning and it still looks amazing. The menu too has almost been the same. It's an amazing place.

Sorry to say this has to be one of if not the worst place I have been to in recent memory. Food taste - absolutely nothing to feel good about. Service - poor. Takes ages for items to get served. No ask for additional servings and one has to keep calling the only person who takes orders, serves etc. I will not recommend this place to anyone.

Authentic gujju food!! Perfect for people with less spice tolerance! Not much spicy food is on the menu. The food is soo light and healthy, and is very economically priced. The service is good and the food is served hot and fresh! Would definitely recommend!

Excellent value for money, tasty food, very polite and helpful staff. The thali we had (image below) is Rs 349 and there’s so much choice for a thali. You can pick a few items from a list of starters, main course and desserts. Buttermilk is not in the picture. If you ask for more of any item, which I did - they provide it. All items were hot and freshly prepared. I prefer this sort of thali to the extravagant ones where there are too many items and by the time you finish you forgot what you ate! Also nothing was oily at all, which is rare when you eat out. Will definitely go back soon.

Very nice authentic Gujarati restaurant !! If you're so fond of South Indian food, then this is not your place to visit. Lots of varieties of food and sweets. Unlimited Thali with lot more varieties to choose. Sabudhana Vada was top notch. Most foods have a sweet tinge on the taste. Calm and serene ambience and pleasent bearers. You can't expect the food to be delivered immediately. But, when it comes it comes hot 👌🏻They accept only cash and UPI payments only, no cards.

Very over rated place … at 2.15 you only have one person taking care of orders and querys.. DO NOT go with high expectation of gujarati taste. The SABUNDANA VADA was having bad smell. Thepla was almost like papad. Pees kachori had no taste in filling. Dahi kadi, i make better dahi kadi than this no ginger no coriander… only one window to serve the food and also to give the used plate and left over from the table. ….there is valley parking but unless you come inside and ask you will not know …. VERY DISSAPOINTED with the taste and service OVERALL …. The water also ignored until i raised my voice….

A cozy little decent place for an evening hangout. The decor, ambience and food menu gives you soothing feeling in case you are homesick and badly missing Gujarat. The staff was well-manneres and friendly as well. The food tastes good. We tried the fafda-jalebi,sev tamatar-roti and Tuesday thali. Buttermilk was refreshing. It was worth the 25kms we drove to this place. Would love to visit again.

If you crave authentic Gujarati food in Chennai, this is the place to visit. Humble service, simple decor and wholesome home style food is what they offer and that too at very reasonable prices. Fresh hot and cold farsan, buttermilk, thepla, shrikhand - you name it and they'll impress you. They also have unlimited thali meals that allow you to mix and match your choice of farsan, bread, rice, curries and dessert. Don't forget to ask for their awesome masala tea to end a delicious meal! Located behind a clinic, it may be difficult to locate the first time, but once you've been here you'll likely be back for more.

Over all experience was good but not happy with gravy they serve. Even though I know gujarati people include sugar in gravies beings South Indian we include lot of different species in out food so I actually didn't like that sweet taste in paneer makhani... even sev tamatar saag was not really good. But jeera rice ..dhokla..peas kachori were just awesome..I loved it. But they didn't had teppala which was again disappointing. Still service was quick. Can visit once for new experience but if you ask will I revisit this place then most probably not.

Good Gujarati food experience in Chennai . We could get most of the options listed in the menu by ordering 2 Thalis with different food items . The place started filling up quickly after 1 pm and soon it was full . The portions were just about right for us and were very tasty too. Good place to have a quiet lunch or dinner .

We went a little early I guess it was not at all crowded. We were only there at that time around 6:30. Kachori was too good. And that Sabudhana Vada is also good. Not a fan of khandvi there.

Good food- authentic cuisine that was made on order, and got served hot- a satisfying experience. The vibrant posters with their native touch made the place feel warm, and the light fittings from older times did add an aesthetic touch to the ambience.

Went with family for Lunch. Atmosphere was excellent. There is unlimited Thali and ala carte. Thali had 3 starter options, two main course and two sweet options. Took a lot of time to serve. Almost took 15 to 20 mins post order eve though not much crowd. Three starters were too much. Not able to relish main course. Sabuthana vada was too hard. All starters were served piping hot. Roti, Thepla and Puri were there in main course options. Thepla and roti were good. Puri was not Upto the mark. Masala Kichidi was top class. Kadhi was good. Too much cinnamon flavor. Shrikand was too good. Traditional Gujarati restaurants are known for their homely service which was missing here. Worth visiting once.

Very Good Gujarati Pure Veg restaurant in near by T.nagar. The atmosphere looking very pleasant to calm our mind. Reasonable price for unlimited Thaali. The choice of main course and gravy everything is chosen by everyone's so that's much more good to taste based on our wish. Taste also good but compare with normal Gujarati dishes this place have average taste only as per my personal experience. Sabudana vada, masala butter milk, dal & pappad are so good but paneer gravy, brinjal potato gravy tastes off. Over all good place for Gujarati recipes.

Three of us Went for a light lunch on a week day. Ambience is good. Service was in time. We ordered Dhokla, Samosa and thepla paneer roll. All items were served fresh and hot. Liked the taste of all the items served. Samosa shell was a little over baked not filling was very much to our liking. Dhokla was very soft and tasty. Paneer was soft. Overall good. Sharing the menu only as nothing recent was found here.

The best Gujarati food i have ever eaten. Each dish has its own unique aroma and rich authentic flavour. The service is highly appreciated. Also it is extremely affordable given that the food portion is quite overwhelming. A central location is an added advantage. A must try place by all means

Quite nice. If you like your food a little sweet, then you'll like it. Gujrati food is basically sweet. The bhelpuri must be eaten. It is close to the original bhelpuri (which you get nowhere in Chennai.) It's acquired taste.

We had ordered dinner via swiggy , two gujurathi thali last week, it tasted ok, but the very next day, the whole family that ate the food was bedridden with severe food poisoining and it took a lot of medication and a week to regain normalcy. Look like the food was stale and was just heated and sent. Will NEVER EVER order food again from this joint. Please BEWARE. Please don't fool people, just bcos they order online and they can't return.

Food was tastier & good ambience... they don't have a great variety of menu and the service was way too slow where i had to ask for the status a number of times... 3.5 rating is only considering food & ambience...

  • 2/5 Anand R. 4 years ago on Google
Worst Restaurant.... Will never visit again and I presume nobody would want to come back here once you taste the food. First of all it is over priced and the portion is small. Secondly Worst and Tasteless Food. We ordered some items and nothing was tasty. Don't know if at all they have a Professional Chef here ? When after having the food at the time of paying the check / bill, I gave my feedback about the worst quality of the food to the server but he was not in a position to listen Negative Comments and told me there are lots of Guests coming every day but no one complained about the food till date and the only one who is giving a Negative Feedback...?? Don't understand what to tell him and the Management.

Not a great taste in the food. Food is prety bland and i am sure it can definitely have sharper distinguishable taste. The ambience is fine and so is the service. There must be better Gujarathi food place available in Chennai

I must say we liked the ambience. Simplicity, nice pics of real India in the background. Entrance: there is no one to greet. A person came to us in a bit. He was really agitated for some reason. He didn't want to serve. As we were not Gujarati's but want to taste Gujarati food as we had a guest who came from overseas. We drove 40km just for this restaurant. Positives: simplicity of the restaurant. Variety of dishes. Negatives: rotis and thepla (mint leaves inside) were not hot. Although the Thali said unlimited, the person didn't help we additional serving of curry. The serving gentleman was not happy. When we were leaving, we greeted by saying thank you bhaiya for everything. He was just mum. Not sure if this review will be read by the owners. A simple smile and greeting would do. The person need not do anything special.

Located behind a building in quiet environs is this gem. We went at a quiet time I guess (Thursday 1:30pm). It was cool and welcoming with marble top tables and wooden chairs. The Rajwadi lamps created the necessary ambience. We ordered Bhel, Khaman Dhokla, Khichadi and Kadi, Puri & Undhiu, Shreekhand and masala chai. All up, highly recommended.

We got food delivered to our hotel from online food ordering app. The food arrived in timely manner. From taste point of view, the food was as homely as it can get. Taste of every item was as or above expected. Given they serve the cuisine so far from it's origin, we were hoping it be good but it did surpass our expectations From quantity POV, we had ordered 2 portions. The portions were kind of inconsistent - more on one and less on other. It didn't bother much though as overall quantity was generous for us and we are not big eaters. Timing of preparation was also good (or maybe just because what we order is usually off the shelf?) Nonetheless, it worked for us. Only couple of things that didn't work for us are: food packing (was hoping to come in box as it's difficult to get serving cutlery at hotel), extra tangy tomato dishes and the missing sweet in one portion. Recommended to try if you wasn't experience such a cuisine this side of city.

If u like to eat spicy food, this is not your cup of tea. I just dined in based on some reviews which turned out to be a disaster. Every single thing in the menu is very sweet and the original dessert is slightly lesser sweet. This is my first try in a Gujarati restaurant and I will never come back. Veg/Jain thalis available if u go between 1-2:30 pm. Had a very interesting visit there. I went there to throw my bday treat to Mom. Dhokla, khandavi n other starters were very good. We ordered thali, daal was a bit disappointing. We complained about it. To our surprise, the management was very considerate n polite. They accepted it and asked for what was lacking, even asked for the recepie (as my mom knew the recepie). After billing, they presented us Mohan Thal with candle, and wished me happy bday.
