Amazing place to chill. There are multiple places to eat nearby. Enjoyed with my family. Make sure to book cab accordingly because there are multiple pickup points and parking is not allowed in front l. So you have to walk and go to those places. It’s more peaceful because there are less people compared to Marina beach.

It the time of sun set around 6:30pm, the breeze was so good made me not to leave the place. The food stalls was really nice. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian food are there at beach. Fun activities are also spotted all over the beach. Timing is till night 11:00 pm, after that police will come and request you to leave. Overall its the place to be visited for mind relaxation.

One of the best place to visit and spend quality time with family and friends. It is full of rush especially during the evening time. There is good parking space but in the peak hours it is difficult to find a space for vehicle parking. Also the parking is not maintained by any authority and therefore you have to park at your own risk. The place has many options of Restaurants and Street vendors which offers you almost allbtyoes of food. There is also an amusement park with lots of fun events inside.

It is the second largest beach in Chennai. More people will come here and it will be very beautiful to see. If you come with your family, you can go here to have a good time.

One of the best beaches in Chennai where you can visit may be to visit Sun rise or enjoy an evening walk along the waves. Beach is not so clean due to the shops that through some waste on the beach but still you can find out a good spot to get a candid click with the waves. You can enjoy a variety of snacks on the shops there, play games, kids can enjoy rides and much more. Place is always vibrant as it has too many eateries outside the beach as well. Overall a must visit beach if you are in and around Chennai.

It's such a wonderful and relaxing place, isn't it? With the sun-kissed sand, the soothing sounds of waves crashing, and the fresh ocean breeze, there's something truly magical about being by the sea. Whether you enjoy swimming in the clear blue water, building sandcastles, or simply lounging under the shade of an umbrella with a good book, the beach offers something for everyone. One of the most beautiful things about the beach is its ability to bring people together. It's a common gathering place for families and friends, where memories are created and cherished. Whether it's playing beach volleyball, having a picnic, or simply enjoying a leisurely stroll along the shore, the beach offers countless opportunities for bonding and creating shared experiences. So, if you ever need a break from the daily grind, consider heading to the beach. It's a place where time seems to slow down, worries fade away, and you can simply enjoy the beauty of nature and the company of loved ones. Just enjoy the and explore the world out there with family and friends ✌🏻

Besant Nagar beach is a popular beach in South Chennai. This place was a beach alone a few years back and a popular outing attraction for the local residents as well as for those who stay nearby. The beach has taken a new look with umpteen number of shops occupying the beach selling food and toy Ballon shops. Sea food stalls are great attraction for the food lovers and the toy shops for the young kids. In spite of all these the beach appeared clean to me. Thanks to the beach users. Across the road the lanes are full of food selling shops which again attracts lot of crowd. A nice time pass for the family as there is lot food, fun and entertainment.

Lovely beach to spend your time in early mornings and evenings!!!!!!!!! So many food stalls are available. You can buy mushroom 65,potato and so many other yummy food. There are also many fun games available like throwing a ring on a toy, gun shooting and many more!!! But the only thing is the food stalls are not that hygienic and are full of dirt and sand. So many plastic wastes are also there in some places. And sometimes the place is very crowded and dirty but these bad qualities are only near the stalls in the beach. Other than this there is nothing bad ,all good!!!!!!!!!!!

We went on Christmas Eve and it was very lively. I like being on the beach. However I felt that the lighting on the beach could be better. Apart from one lane where they set up all the shops, there isn’t much visibility. The surrounding areas to the beach has many cafés and places to have tea and eat food. I would definitely recommend the visit but not later in the night. Try visiting in the evening and then spending the rest of the evening exploring the cafe’s around the beach

Besant Nagar Beach also known as Edward Elliot's Beach in Chennai is one of the cleanest beaches of India. Embellished by golden sand beaches, curling waves and limitless stretch of sea, the beach entices tourists from different parts of the world. The serene and tranquil nature of the beach uplifts the human spirit and refreshes the mind and soul. You can witness the amazing sunrise and sunset at the beach, with the sky being painted by the golden rays of the sun. The beach is named Edward Elliot's Beach after the famous chief magistrate and superintendent police of Chennai, Edward Elliott. But it is popularly known as Besant Nagar Beach since it is located in the city of Besant Nagar. The city of Besant Nagar was originally named after the famous social activist Annie Besant, who had an immense contribution to the development of India during the British rule. It is said that once a Danish sailor, Karl Schmidt, sacrificed his life while saving a man from drowning in the sea. A monument has been constructed in his honour at the beach and named as “Elliots”.

In terms of cleanliness it's not as bad as Marina and not as good as Thiruvanmyur beach. Parking is a problem during weekends, especially in the evenings. They do charge 40 Rs for a Car if you park in front of the walkway. But i could find no boards saying it's paid parking. Despite all this, I love the beach. On few days the beach is very clean. I prefer to be here in the mornings when the weather is good and crowds are less. Sea is not as rough as Marina.

Elliot’s Beach, or Besant Nagar Beach is adjacent to the long stretch of Marina Beach. Differing to the latter, Elliot’s Beach is quieter, with less vendors and more cafes and restaurants by the promenade. On the beach itself, there are stalls lined from the promenade to the sea in various locations, although mostly empty and packed away during the day. One strange aspect was seeing a horse gnawing in a patch of grass in the middle of the beach. Additionally, there is a regular effort to cleaning thus an absence of litter in which enhances the overall experience of the beach. This does contrast with the trash lining the coastline.

Well maintained beach in the middle of the bustling chennai city. It's located in besant nagar which is near to adyar and thiruvanmiyur. This Beach offers lot of options for kids, we have skating area and many eateries\play area near to the beach. People those who stay near to velacherry and South chennai ppl will visit to this beach instead of marina beach. This beach and location has many good history and memories - must visit place in chennai if any one come down to chennai Near to this beach, we can visit other places ashtalakshmi hindu temple and Church

We chose the murky morning of a weekend for easier access and we found ample parking near the beach. The road to the Elliot's beach is one of the most beautiful paths in Chennai, with the canopy of trees dotting the boundaries. The commercial activities on the beach ⛱️ is zero in the morning and so it's just you n the cool sands of the shore meeting and greeting the waves. Walking with your family along the waves is one of the most exhilarating feelings that doesn't get enough words to explain

Beach is the only solution to make our heart & mind to be peace Really good feel at this beach And worst things is now a days can find lot of persons using there kids to earning Money.. Which was more pain full to see like that incidents And more over have the best silence and good air ..waves sound. . really lovely . No limit for time to spend at beach During our visit we found there was some fight between customer and horse riders .. So public must be know well about the prices details before getting into horse rides.. Other then it's was good place And especially the place was so clean and the maintenance was really awesome..

Pleasant place for morning walks., and crowded during evenings. It is an unpleasant scenario to see wastes that are thrown around by visitors on such a scenic natural surroundings. However it was a bit of relief to watch mechanised cleaners being deployed by the civic authorities.

Besant Nagar Beach, commonly known as Elliot's Beach, is a prominent coastal destination in Chennai, India. This sandy expanse is a beloved spot for both locals and tourists, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and urban amenities. One of the most appealing aspects of Besant Nagar Beach is its scenic charm. The beach is surrounded by lush greenery, with casuarina trees lining the shore, providing a picturesque backdrop for visitors. The golden sands, when kissed by the warm sun, create a serene atmosphere that invites you to relax and unwind. The beach also has a vibrant atmosphere. It's a gathering place for Chennai's residents, and you'll often find people enjoying leisurely walks, engaging in yoga sessions, or simply relishing the sea breeze. Families come here for picnics, and it's a popular spot for children to build sandcastles and play in the gentle waves. One can't overlook the fantastic culinary options nearby. The numerous food stalls and restaurants around the beach serve an array of delicious dishes, including mouthwatering street food and South Indian cuisine. Savoring local delicacies while gazing at the sea is a delightful experience. Sunsets at Besant Nagar Beach are a true spectacle. As the sun descends into the Bay of Bengal, the sky is painted with brilliant hues, creating a mesmerizing view that draws photographers and romantics alike. While Besant Nagar Beach is undoubtedly a great place to unwind, it's essential to mention that during peak seasons, it can get quite crowded, and littering can be an issue. The local authorities have made efforts to maintain cleanliness, but responsible tourism is crucial. In summary, Besant Nagar Beach in Chennai is a captivating blend of natural beauty, cultural vibrancy, and culinary delights. It's a place where you can enjoy a relaxed day at the shore, savor local flavors, and witness breathtaking sunsets. While crowd management and cleanliness can be areas for improvement, the overall experience is one that leaves a lasting impression on visitors.

It is one of the famous beach in Chennai. Very cool and feel relaxed. I heard Rajnikant Banglow is near to this beach but not sure. Here you will find the grey sand. Always crowded with peoples as this beach is in the city. For one day picnic and to spend Morning/ Evening time it is good spot... @ Cleanliness - Beach is very clean and well maintained after having such huge crowd... @ Parking - Road side parking is available but because of rush difficult to get parking. Generally police will be there for security and to manage traffic.... @ Food - Some small shops are available but looks like it is not hygienic. Instead of this you can take coconut water. For kids some small shops is there.... @ Rides - Horse 🐴 , Cycle and Byke rides are available with average cost and Negotiable.. Overall good experience and worth to visit this place.... 😊

This is a very good beach. I have visited 2-3 beaches during my stay in the city and this one is really happening one. More than the Marina Beach, I liked this one. Its family friendly and there are so many food stall available alongside some small game stalls and exhibition. There are also kid-friendly options here in terms of games, food and toys. I would suggest people to go in the evng to spend some time without the scorching heat. There is no entry ticket.

Wonderful beach to visit with kids. On a recent visit I observed that the beach surroundings are very much littered. People throwing used plates, cups and corn after eating. Guys we need to enjoy the beach if we keep littering like this our future generations couldn't enjoy it. Pls don't litter in public. Whoever is going to any beach please ensure you are not throwing anything on the beach. Please insist shop owners to keep bins and throw the waste there.

We were a group of around 10 people, we reached there around 5:30 am. We saw a scenic sunrise view. We did some sports and had a lot of fun. This is one of the least populated beaches of Chennai. It was very peaceful there. I think I would like to go there at least 2-3 times monthly, if I live in Chennai. The beach was a little unclean. And i request people to keep the beach clean. At least take responsibility for yourself, that you won't litter any waste. And help to make this earth clean.

Besant nagar beach is so nice and a very good place to enjoy your weekends. Best place to hang out with friends and family. Many budget foods and activity zones. The best part of Besant Nagar church is Mother Mary Church. The new Church is literally mind-blowing. Everyone has to visit and the place is very powerful. Next the best part is tam tam pop corn a place where we can get theatre pop corn flavours at 60 rupees. Best place to visit in the early morning and on the weekends.

1000s of pigeon comes here for feeding. Beautiful sight. Have to reach there before 6 O'clock in the morning to visit the birds. Birds disperse after some time. Must watch for bird lovers. Not as dirty as Marina but not very clean. Beach Road becomes a no car zone on Sunday. On other days there is an ample space available for parking. It will not look deserted even if we go there before 6. There will be a group of people in all ages who comes for walking and exercise. Can watch sunrise if the sky is not cloudy. Nothing much there except birds and schmidt memorial. Less crowded and calm place.

The Beach is an enchanting coastal haven that epitomizes the essence of a tropical paradise. Nestled away from the bustling city, it offers a serene retreat for those seeking respite from the demands of everyday life. Having recently returned from my visit, I can confidently say that The Beach surpassed my wildest expectations and left an indelible impression on my soul. Upon arrival, the first thing that struck me was the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings. The beach boasts powdery white sands that stretch endlessly, meeting the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the ocean. Everything is ok, but the problem is that it's not clean, so there's a lot of thrash all around.

The weather is comparatively pleasant in the winter with temperatures varying between 19 degrees C and 27 degrees C. You can relax at the beach during the day and enjoy the cool breeze in the evenings. - Summers are usually very hot and unbearable in Chennai, hence it is advisable to avoid this time of the year. The beach during the daytime would not be comfortable to walk around and relax due to the scorching sun heat. Besant nagar beach famous for fish they have many varieties fishesh and cheap price

Beside there is one road where u can have snack or some food types... But overall good place to visit... Please note that this review is based on morning 5.45 to 7.45AM.

Elliot's Beach ( Besant Nagar Beach) is one of the cleanest and safest beaches in the city of Chennai. It is located towards the south of Marina Beach. The night time is so colourful here.. so many food items and variety you found here.

This was not the first time. However the beach is back to it's crowded past. We once visited when there were less crowd and the beach looked so stunning when the moon was full and the sands in the wave reflected light here and there as if there was a fiber optic twinkling light show. The place was not too crowded or too free, but the Ice cola shops, the Baked peanut - Beach Manga(Raw Mango) shops and other shops were open and they were busy as well. There were some fireworks too.

“Direct buses are available. Many food stalls/games are available in the beach. You can try spring potato there. Major restaurants are there nearby. Nowadays beach is not much clean. Small amusement park also available. Best Time: after 5 pm”

Nice place to spend morning and eve time with friends and family... There are more shops for dining with all price categories. Avoid buying cool drinks in local shops.. prefer from any restaurant.. Main trouble which you may face is parking lot. If you come by bike, you'll find one easily, but if you come by car, it's little tough. Overall best place to enjoy the weekend

This beach is one of the landmarks in Chennai. I visited many times earlier,  after a long gap   today I went with my family. It is far better now, when we talk about traffic arrangement, parking areas. I was able to find parking space even during the hectic heavy traffic. We couldn't find any shops in the nearby church areas, we came to know that it was moved to the front. We liked the shop arrangements, there was a lot of space to walk in between the shops. Ulike Marina beach, the shops have enough space to walk, have food and the sit out areas

Much cleaner beach when compared to Marina. Parking could be a challenge on weekends. Suggest late evening visit on weekday. Eating options available in plenty nearby.

I recently visited Besant Nagar beach in Chennai and I must say it was a delightful experience. The beach was well-maintained, with clear blue water and soft golden sand. I loved the quiet and peaceful atmosphere, making it the perfect spot to relax and soak up the sun. One of the highlights of my visit was the food stalls lining the beach. They offered an array of delicious seafood and local specialties that were delicious. The only negative aspect I observed was the large crowds on weekends and public holidays. This made it a bit difficult to find a spot to sit and enjoy the view, but it was still worth it.

This is one of the spots in Chennai you will like to visit again and again. I have been here many times and at all times of the day mostly. Recently, we been here on a weekend to watch the sunrise and it was an amazing view. There were huge crowds as it was a weekend and there were a few events happening as well. During evenings as well, they have a variety of eateries on the beach. Overall, the beach is clean and well maintained.

Was a great experience. Visited early morning at 8 was quite empty but that's kinda worth it. Lots and lots of shops are there with a huge area to play and enjoy. Only thing that was an issue was maintaining its cleanliness. If that would have been better would have rates 5 stars. Anyway it's a great beach to enjoy during weekends and holidays.

Besant Nagar beach, Chennai is a calm beach to spend your time with family and friends. Nowadays it’s not clean. Morning walking is so good. Evening it’s so crowded. There are so many snacks shops are there.

This is a very famous beach near to residential area. Parking is limited. Good of choices of restaurants around. Beach can be maintained well. Lot of beach shops. Boat ride of katamar was available here. Its was a good experience. Per person they charged 200rs. This beach has less depth hence people walk nearly 20 feet inside the beach. The experience of this beach is good. Their is a play area well maintained.
