Relaxing and efficient. Surprising how quickly the lift lock transports you and the history is nice to catch up on.

Amazing piece of engineering. Odd feeling going up and down the lift lock in a boat.

We did winter skating on the canal. Great! It requires good maintenance, and I hope the city jumps into gear quickly whenever the temperature is right, as winter is short and thaws are frequent. A wonderful resource for the people of the city.

The staff at the locks are really great. The flood lock and lift lock experience was incredible. We were in a group of 70 kayakers and they treated us with respect, humour and kept us safe. It's a fun trip so definitely recommend it.

They were very accomodating. We missed our scheduled tour but were given seats on the next tour. The boat captain/tour guide was super funny and gave us the full history. The cruise was amazing, very interesting, and like nothing I've ever experienced. If you are afraid of heights, maybe stay away.

Amazing experience for the whole family. Definitely worth the money. The tout captain was funny and told us about the sites along the way.

We were in a group of 65 kayaks with the Durham Kayakers. The lock staff was very friendly, welcoming, happy and they took pic of us that they shared with the group. We did lock 20 and 21. Lock 21 has a very unique lifting elevator system.

This amazing engineering project is a fascinating place to visit at any season. During the summer, the weekend boat activity provides lots of family entertainment as the boats go up and down in the Lift Locks. The viewing platforms up top and the picnic benches below offer different perspectives. Exploring the "tunnel" inside the Lift Locks is a unique look too. Good spot for a picnic lunch.

Watching boats in the lift locks is aways exciting. Lots of room, great areas to relax, have a little picnic or visit the beach.

Spent the night below the lock. Busy traffic during the day, but quieted down at night. There is a kids playground, splash park, and supervised beach very close to the lock.

The meandering 386 km Trent Severn Waterway has two lock systems in Peterborough. Ashburnham Lock #20 was constructed in 1896-1900 on the northeast corner of Little Lake. Facilities and services include overnight mooring, potable water, washrooms, camping, and a visitor center. Five hundred metres, north of Lock #20, is the Peterborough Lift Locks. Construction also began in 1896 and was officially opened in 1904. It is one of two lift locks on the Trent Severn Waterway and the largest in the world. The CPR truss swing bridge built in 1898 was originally hand turned. It still operates today and adds another element of character to this historical Canadian site.

Friendly, hardworking staff are great at making sure boats get through safely

Well maintained, professional staff. Busier during summer long weekends as you may imagine. Wait time to enter the locks during the week days was reasonable.

😐 It has so much space, the parks are great for kids of all ages. However there was a crack pipe under the bench when I was there.
