Shocking service, stood and waited 40mins for sausage and chips. No apology for waiting time or anything and even forgot to put salt and vinegar on. Went straight in the bin.

Stopped off on our way home. £23 for jumbo sausage and chips and 2x doner meat and chips and a bottle of coke. Huge portions, well worth the money. We took half of it home with us. Indoor seating too which was lovely.

Nice fish n chips. Love how they use a unique box to hold fish and chips seperiately. Curry sauce could be more interesting to make it memorable while the bottles of pop are overprice. Busy place even on a Sunday.

Really nice fish and chips cooked fresh but took nearly half an hour to get served. Very busy Bank Holiday with few cafes open so maybe its not usually like that. Would recommend though the food was lovely.

Ordered gills at 20:00 received order. Was wrong rang shop 3 times. Said they would send full order out. 2 hours later still no food. Will go else where. £35 paid and ridiculous waiting time. Will be the last

First time to Gills Fry Fry and thought the food quality, quantity and the price were excellent. We tried two pizzas (peperoni and chicken tikka) and I would definitely recommend! (Took a photo of the chicken tikka pizza slice)

Gill's is lovely place. Quite modern Inside and with a great view across the gardens to the sea. We came across this place about 6 or 7 years ago and originally picked it as they fry the chips separately from everything else making them vegetarian and it has become a tradition whenever we visit. There are other things on offer too apart from fish and chips you can get the likes of pizzas as well. The vegetarian options other that the chips is a little limited which is a shame. Plenty of nearby free parking and a host of other shops on the road if you fancy an ice cream after. It's also about a 5 minute walk from the sea glass beach to walk it off hunting for some sea glass.

Do not use this place! My son had fish chips and peas and I had fish cake chips and pea and a small bottle of Diet Coke. £22.80…. When I worked it out on the board it should of been £18, to be told by the girl with glasses(very rude) no mate there the old prices the new ones are here and pulled out a menu from under the counter. It’s a criminal offence to do this, so you are being reported to the police for this and also reading standards… to top it off the food was shocking ! And was told to eat in its 10% extra! Stay away!

I can't score high for the atmosphere as we were the only people in at the time, but the fish and chips were great 😋 I had a nosebleed and the staff were very helpful.

Gone here for years but never again. Got sausage and chips here tonight. Sausage ok chips were the worst I have ever had. For nearlly £3 a bag you expect decent chips

I placed a order for delivery Fish and Chips with mushy peas. Order arrived on time, hot and ready to eat. The food was great, beautiful fish and Chips, batter was light and not greasy. Fish was amazing. Will definitely order again. Well done.

Great fish (cod) and chips. Sold as fish bites. The portions were large and very tasty and very good value too. Seating available inside as well as directly outside.. We chose to take a small walk over the green and sat in one of the many bench seats looking out of the harbour and out to sea. No pestering by seagulls was an added bonus. A very pleasant experience.

Had to have the traditional fish chips and mushy peas! The food was really nice and not overly priced and there’s quite a few seats inside if the weather is not too great outside. The service was good and only had to wait for 5 minutes for fresh and very hot fish and chips!

Terrible fish and service. Had to wait ages to be seated, waited ages (until called waitress over) to order, good 30min just to get drinks although they came seconds before meal. Ordered large and small fish and chips. Complained the the waitress that he large was actually smaller then to small fish, she just shrugged and said it was the large, waited for bread which never came. Got the bill and complained about the service and fish (the was more fish in a Asda own fish finger then in their ‘large’ fish). Told because I didn’t complain during the meal (no servers around and no one ask if it was ok like usual - and I did complain) nothing they could do!!!! Needless to say won’t be going again!

I've eaten Gills before and was always very satisfied. The fish, this time, was watery. It's as though the fish was frozen and then fried with the ice turning to water. Not good. The pop was expensive. The chips were delightful. These were good and the curry sauce too. Eating in we still had takeaway really. Served in boxes and plastic cutlery. Pop in the bottle. Can do better elsewhere for the price.

Absolutely vile ,a ball of undercooked potato swimming in oil. With undercooked batter covering some type of once edible food. Gloopy ,under cooked not fit for human consumption, Stay away or walk along the street to asda and have a go yourself guarantee it will be better.no I'm not from houghton I live at seaton approximately 2 miles away. To answer your question about wrapping fish and chips up in paper,it is obvious that you dont know how this product was wrapped prior to polystyrene or paper boxes. I fell that you require a detailed answer to my comment of oily potato, having had years of experience working in the fast food industry, your cooking oil had degraded through use so as to only reach a lower heat than what's required to fry.as a result of this happening the chips you are trying to fry are being broiled instead, this results in your chips soaking up the oil and not sealing the out side. That is why your product is soft and gloopy. Check the condition of your oil and what tempreture you are trying at this mite help and to answer your question earlier fish and chips were wrapped in newspaper and fried in beef dripping .

Just had my lunch from Gills. What an absolute delight. Easy ordering online, went and picked it up without any problem and enjoyed it overlooking the sea. The Small cod and chips was superb.

They do really lovely fish and chips, but the pizzas are something else. They are lovely the best in Seaham much better than Dominos. Well worth a visit if you're in town.

£20.63 for raw chicken, a tiny, burnt greasy pizza, a few chips and 2 dips...absolutely disgusting. We'll never buy anything from here again.
