This
was
my
first
stop
during
my
weekend
visit
to
RVA,
and
the
VMFA
could
not
have
been
a
better
introduction
to
the
city.
By
no
means
did
I
cover
the
entire
museum
-
which
is
great,
because
now
I
have
every
reason
to
go
back
for
future
exploring.
The
museum
has
art
from
so
many
different
genres
(French
Modernism,
German
Modernism,
African
Art…
the
list
goes
on)
and
artists…
They
have
(several)
works
from
Kehinde
Wiley,
Salvador
Dalí,
Henry
Matisse,
Esther
Mahlangu
and
so
so
many
more.
I
spent
a
good
bit
of
my
visit
in
the
African
Art
permanent
collection
&
the
‘Dawoud
Bey
-
Elegy’
exhibition.
I
was
really
impressed
and
in
awe
with
the
variety
of
pieces
that
the
museum
has
from
all
over
Africa
-
there
were
unique
pieces
from
Liberia,
Ethiopia,
Congo,
Ivory
Coast,
South
Africa,
Cameroon
and
so
many
more.
The
museum
has
amazing
works
both
inside
and
outside
—
make
sure
you
check
out
the
stunning
sculptures
and
pieces
in
the
gardens.
