DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! These people are crooks they charge your credit card over and over! The place is filthy the charge you for towels and toilet paper. They will tell you one price on the phone and then change it when you arrive. Staff is incredibly rude. Beer and liquor bottles every where and the halls smell like marijuana and cigarettes. Mold on the carpet and around the Windows Don't waste your money

Be aware - this "hotel" goes by the name of "Richmond Magnuson Grand Hotel" &/or "Akaza Hotel Richmond" &/or "Speco Hotel" &/or "Hotel I-64". That's right - they have *4 DIFFERENT NAMES* they might be listed under. My initial guess is to throw off potential customers from seeing the ABUNDANCE OF HORRIBLE reviews they have! That being said - Horrendous!! This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in in my life. The linens in our room were FILLED WITH OLD GROSS SET-IN STAINS. Blood stains, food stains, etc. (I provided pics) I was "assigned" this hotel via Hotwire (the first time I've ever been so turned off by the cut rate hotel Hotwire assigned me that I vow to never use the "Hot Rate" option again!) After realizing the hotel Hotwire assigned to me, I researched online. All of the awful reviews I read were well-deserved of this hotel. First off, when you check-in, there is a $50 CASH-ONLY deposit you have to give them for security. ALSO, you pay a $3 CASH-ONLY fee that's called a "tourism fee"..... Ummm.....yeah, okay. SMFH. I knew from all other reviews that these people try to stick you on the $50 deposit the next morning at check-out by trying to blame you for all the nastiness in the room THAT WAS THERE FROM GET-GO! So - we brought OUR OWN towels/wash cloths/hand towels & pillows. First thing I did upon entering the room was check for bed bugs. Then began to inspect the linens. Old set-in stains on everything. (see my pics) Stains that NO housekeeping/management in THEIR RIGHT MIND should allow to be put on clean beds. I made sure to return to the front desk to show the ladies (both named Shannon) my pictures and make sure it was noted *I* had pics and that *I* was not responsible for ANY of it. Next morning at check-out. Lady behind the desk sent an old maintenance guy up to "check" our room. SMH. Old dude came back, saying something to the lady behind the counter and I heard her say, "Yeah, well you know some people actually bring their own towels. Maybe that's what they did." I wanted to say SO BAD yeah that's what I did when I read previous reviews where people say you try to charge $10 for someone using a towel. Got our $50 "deposit" back and got out that place so fast it'd make your head spin. Quick run down of other "stuff". Front desk associates were nice enough but were dressed in regular street clothes - yoga pants & hoodies. The elevator was in extremely bad shape. And only 1 of the 2 elevators was working. There were gross very visible stains on curtains in the front lobby hallways in front of the elevators. (Like, seriously! Why are they still using linens with gross stains???) Hallway on our floor (floor 4) smelled like old industrial strength public bathroom cleaner. Better than smelling like pee or poop but barely. There was crayon stain marking all over one of the walls in our room. The mirrors looked like they've never been windexed. The tv got maybe 10 channels. Lastly - the air....... we put the cold air on high, continuous fan yet the room never got cold. When I took a shower, the heat and condensation from my shower took over the whole room. I could not imagine how hot the room would have been if it was middle of summer. So, yes, it was inexpensive. I stay in 2 or 2.5 star hotels plenty throughout the year (I'm cheap like that) so I understand "you get what you pay for". YET - I have never written a review like this in my life but I HAD to share. This place needs to be shut down. Awful, awful, awful! I am contacting the BBB as well as the Health Department about this establishment.

Hotel website says there is a gym and a pool and a bar there is not there is empty rooms that say under repairs lol that's a joke. The maintenance staff trys to act like they know what they are doing and don't there are rats and roaches in building and it is not maintained properly from lack of management and be careful they will tow cars with passes on them so if u want a guest to come u have to pay 10 for a pass and there is only 10 channels to watch mostly news and the wifi sucks barely works and if u say something they act like they don't care BC they all live here for free. You have to supply all of your own stuff in rooms also , elevator does not work. There is no ice machine. No microwave or fridge.. It just sucks here

DON'T! This has been the worst hotel experience we have ever had. Issues with our reservation, with parking lot lighting, pool was disgusting, lots or peeling wallpaper and construction, broken elevator, our a/c thermostat was broken, a questionable clean room and to top it off in the morning we were accused of bringing our dog and walking her from the 6th floor to the 1st floor and letting her poop in the hallway. The security guard and the housekeeper supposedly witnessed this. Even though: 1 we didn't bring our dogs, 2 we were still asleep and not left the room and 3 like we would do that. So then after the 3rd or 4th call in the morning and telling us we will be charged additional for the dog and the incident, we went to front desk to handle the issue and low and behold there is no manager or any person in charge. The security guard left for the day and this housekeeper refuses to talk to us or the desk person to describe the dog or us. So now we wait for an hour for a manager to resolve the issue. Took the front desk guy to our room to show we had no pet, and to top it off they left the pool there for at least 2 hours if not more. The so called breakfast was coffee, tea and waffles. Don't stay here and warn your family and friends.

Horrible Experience!! I went there to stay for one night and they asked me to pay $80, which i paid and left next morning. after that i got busy and couldn't check my credit card statements, after some day while paying some where with my card i come to know that my balance is negative. when i checked i saw these people kept charging my card 7 times till balance got zero. it was a shock for me.. i called them and asked for help, they kept transferring me to unlimited voice mails which were never acknowledged then at last i had to file complain against then and got them arrested for fraud. also there was a shoot out when i was staying there, a guy got shot at his face twice while they were doing some illegal party over there. they deals with drugs and illegal things there. this place is such a mess.. don't waste your money for nothing.

Please don't ever give your money nor business to this hotel. They don't supply any sheets, nor blankets, nor pillows, nor towels, nor toilet tissue, nor face washcloths, nor soap, nor shampoo. They have a $20.00 fee policy for anyone who parks any vehicle on their property. They don't have cable t.v and they don't give any refunds on rooms nor parking spaces. And their air conditioner heat doesn't get that warm and their air conditioner cool air doesn't get that cool. Bath hot water doesn't get that hot there. Like you can't take a real comfortable bath nor shower.

This was literally the WORST hotel I have ever been too. We had a convention there, and not only did the staff not know how to do anything, but they kept messing things up. The chef and one of the workers were the only nice employees and tried their best. We had to remove trash ourselves and take it up to the front desk before anything was done about it. They weren't responsive and the rooms had several problems with them. If it was possible to give a negative star I would.

This was, by far, the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Granted, it was probably cleaner and perhaps safer than some of the motels and hostels I've stayed in in my time, but the overall experience could not have been worse. The worst part was that upon checkout, I left a pair of earrings in the bathroom. Within one hour, I realized and called the hotel but they had already been stolen. All of the complaints below were addressed directly with general manager, Mr. Patel, who did nothing but offer me a room switch (which would not have solved half the issues). 1. I called before booking to ask about breakfast. I was assured that a hot breakfast was including with the cost of the room. Actually, it is a cold breakfast and costs $6 per person. 2. However, because the TVs had been "broken" (or not paid for?) since at least Aug. 18, according to other reviews, a hot "breakfast" was included. The breakfast was not appetizing. We ate breakfast out each morning. The TVs were "broken" the entire length of our stay. 3. When I checked in, the air conditioning was not on (it was above 90F outside) and the room was sweltering. I had to turn the AC on and spend 3 hours outside the room before I could comfortably stay in. 4. The toilet ran the entire time we were there. Loudly. 5. The elevator trapped me inside. I found out later that you have to push extremely hard for several of the buttons to work. 6. The WiFi did not connect. I tried on 4 separate devices from both the lobby and my room. 7. My phone was broken in my room. 8. There were exposed outlets in my room. I have pictures, which I showed to Mr. Patel. He did not seem to worry about it. 9. Zero of the three treadmills in the fitness area worked. And the thermostat was set to 79 in there. 10. When I called and reported my earrings missing, Mr. Patel flat out refused to speak with me. One of the people I spoke with on the phone told me that he would leave a message with Mr. Patel but that "he would never call me back." This person was the only one who attempted to help me and I can't help but assume he knows something about the whereabouts of my earrings. Three days after the incident he no longer works at the Magnuson. I reported the earrings to the hotel and Mr. Patel lied to the police who visited the establishment, claiming he'd never heard of me when in fact I spoke directly with him and he supposedly talked to the housekeeper responsible for my room as well as the housekeeping manager when I called about my earrings the first time. The following issues were not discussed with Mr. Patel at the time of my stay but I believe are relevant: A) The pool/hot tub area was dirty and dangerous. There were puddles of standing water that did not get cleaned up the entire length of my stay. B) There were condoms and trash in the stairwells (which we took up and down to the 4th floor every day for fear of getting trapped in the elevator again). C) The parking lot is cracked and full of weeds. D) I got several bug bites during my stay. I did not spend a significant amount of time outside, but it is impossible for me to prove that I got them at the hotel. Nor am I sure whether they are bedbugs, mosquitos, fleas, or something else completely.

The hotel is roach infested. My room had broken glass from a previous guest, dirt, cigarette butts, candy and other miscellaneous debris. I paid $235 for a weekly and left the next day—they refuse to refund my money. I told them I would be contacting the health department, the media, and the Department of Labor—by the time they showed up they had cleaned and disinfected the room. They also are not paying their employees—they get rooms for working mandatory 40 hours a week—NO MONEY!!!! They are being sued for UNPAID WAGES. Read article in Richmond Free Press.

My husband shows up at the hotel to find out they have NO air conditioning and NO TV, they offer him a complimentary hot breakfast. It's august for goodness sakes, the windows don't open, and you think a free hot breakfast makes up for sweltering in a dingy hotel room with no television. Get real. The hotel was dingy, with no AC or TV, how friggin good could the breakfast possibly be and why would you even think that would make up for it, it clearly states in the hotels amenities AC and TV. Poor Poor customer service, the guy didn't even know the cancellation policy and we were our Credit Card was charged a week before check in. The guy said they charged your Credit card the day of arrival. Horrible hotel, DO NOT stay here!

Room was NOT cleaned. The floors were not vacuumed or swept. There was pubic hair under the bathroom sink, and squished bugs still on the floor. The room had paper bits, and dirt and change still on the floor from last people. They would not give us another room, or even change the sheets when the sheets had dirt ALL over it. Shannon the lady at the desk was very uncaring to any of it. Refunds aren't allowed, we couldn't get another room, and all they could do was send house keeping up to deal with the floors, but not change the sheets. Disgusting place.

My stay was actually great especially after reading the reviews. The front deal staff was friendly and attentive. The room was very clean and tidy. The pool and Jacuzzi are was neat and clean. I can't wait to stay here again.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Someone was just killed on the 5th floor Wednesday night. There’s bugs everywhere all the time. Upper management (Mrs.P) will raise people’s rent for absolutely no reason. They will kick people out with children with no hesitation. Most of the people that stay here are drug dealers, drug users or sex workers. They also advertise free breakfast, pool and hot tub but none of that is offered. The pool and hot tub are shut down. They make everyone pay in cash so they don’t have to worry about taxes. These people are trifling!!!!!! I warned you!

This place is nothing but a Motel 6. How do I know, because the owners are too stupid to take down the sign on the side of the building that says "Motel 6". They sent us to the back side of the building. The elevators are old, the carpet in the hallway, old and smelly. Opened up the room, the skirt was hanging off the bed. It looked like you would not want to sit on the bed, no less sleep in it. Of all the hotels and motels I have ever stayed in, this was the worse. Please do not waste you time and money on this place.
