If staying local is your thing... Lokal Hotel is the absolute dreamiest place for you to unwind. The Old City location is on the cutest block lined with boutiques, coffee shops, and galleries. Right around the corner is the Betsey Ross House, and right through an alleyway alongside Lokal’s building is Elfreth’s Alley. The location is walking distance to the entire historic district and is super easy to navigate as Philly has signage on almost every corner sharing historic facts! I stayed in Ben, located on the 4th floor! Do know, it is a walk up, which was no problem for me, but if you cannot walk stairs, I’d recommend staying in the rooms located on the 1st floor. The apartment was gorgeous, super bright, CLEAN, and cozy. Really felt like you were at home! The appliances were very modern and there were directions located on an iPad to share how to use them. There was even a washer and drier! The bathroom was full of all your necessities - body wash, shampoo, conditioner, loads of towels, including “makeup” washcloths (which I found so convenient) as well as a hair drier. The kitchen was spacious - my boyfriend & I found it easy to make tea, order breakfast and eat on the barstools. Large sitting area with a tv: netflix, Apple TV, cable + more. The bed was big, comfy and the pillows were fluffy! Truly felt like I wanted to live there. Imagine waking up everyday with sunlight beaming through your windows? You glaze over and see the Ben Franklin Bridge peaking through the brick buildings? Just lovely. Had such a great stay :’)

We are Philadelphia locals who stayed at the Lokal in March during our wedding weekend. We wanted a unique place to stay (away from other wedding guests) and are so glad we chose to stay here! We booked two rooms to serve as the bridal/groom suites- the spaces were great for getting ready in. The full service kitchens were helpful for making breakfast and keeping everyone fed/hydrated during the morning. The aesthetic of the rooms are ideal for capturing some pre-wedding photos. We highly recommend this place to other brides/grooms getting married in the city as well as visitors looking for a unique Philadelphia experience.

I stayed in the old city place, specifically in Betsy unit. The place itself is very beautiful, conveniently ready to use kitchen items, and gorgeous bathroom features! I could see family or wedding party staying over for the weekend. The best part was the great customer service! However, I had to give four stars due to mold on the wall near the air conditioning unit, the moldy smell throughout the unit, and the view of the apartment. We had to get some deodorizer. Plus, the bedroom with bunk beds has no air condition and ventilation system. I felt very hot sleeping in that room.

Clean and well decorated interior. Places like these really let you immerse yourself in the neighborhood. No concierge or front desk makes it feel more like an airbnb than a hotel; but personally we enjoy that much more than a hotel. The location is great, lots of food and shopping nearby.

I loved my stay here. I stayed in the Billy Flat and I wish I could have moved in. The room is so cozy, comfortable and spacious. I rarely feel this way about hotel rooms. All the precautions they had in place made me feel safe and check-in and check-out is contactless. I didn't encounter anyone else during my stay. Old City is so charming I loved walking around this neighborhood.

it was ok... not a 4.9 like the ratings say (I travel a lot and stay at a lot of hotels - Marriott Platinum, Delta Diamond..etc.) some pros and cons from our 3 night stay in Louisa room: pros - really cute, nice furniture, clean/comfy beds, Sonos, tall ceilings, great location, codes to get in (no keys), nice soaps, shampoos and towels. cons - AC was leaking down the wall in kitchen, milk in fridge for coffee was Nov 22 date and we were there in July 23, workers walking on roof could see in skylights in bedroom and bath, AC was only in living room area so the other bedroom was hard to control temp - we did find a fan in the closet and used that. our biggest issue was the workers on the roof at 7am yelling and walking around. totally understand that you have to fix something and it was in the 90s those days, but that was not good. they walked by and looked down and my wife was laying in bed and saw them. the other skylight is above the toilet and shower so a shower was out that morning. I did call and text the management who said it was due to the AC going out for their tenants in the salon and that was not supposed to happen. they did credit me part of my stay back and I do appreciate that and the fact that they were responsive. Not sure what they did about the leak down the wall of the AC as that just kept getting worse while we were there but I did send them a pic of what it was doing and they said the AC was just serviced. Like I said, it was ok but not great.

Perfect place to stay with kids! We loved the extra space over a normal hotel and the separate kids bedroom in the Betsy suite was awesome. Kitchen had everything we needed to make mornings easy and to prepare kids dinner while the adults ordered in. The location is wonderful, close to all the historical things, restaurants and shops and we felt very safe.

I really wanted to like this hotel, but the truth is the value proposition sucks compared to other hotel offerings in Philly relative to price. We stayed in the Ben room fyi Pros: very spacious and tasteful interior design. Well stocked and equipped kitchen. Washer/ dryer in unit. Good central location Cons: no staff on site, so doesn’t feel as safe. No daily housekeeping. Shower pressure is terrible. It’s an old building so quite a lot of squeaking in the floors and the insulation isn’t as good (there is a working ac/heater though). Stairs to every room, and in this case a 4th floor walk up. Bedding is clean but the bed is not nearly as comfortable as other 4/5 star chain hotels. Terribly slow and old(?) tv that struggles to pause/play/skip when using Netflix. No slippers available. Quiet hours after 10pm (this isn’t a problem but given the old bldg and not knowing how thin the walls were, we felt we had to be overly careful even with tv volume). Again I really wanted to like this hotel and support a smaller local business but the pricing seems out of touch with its value proposition compared to larger corporate hotels with similar prices. Unless you needed a kitchen/washer dryer or wanted the extra space for kids, not sure this place could make sense. Even with kids you could get 2 rooms at other hotels for the prices here. This hotel feels a lot more like an Airbnb than a hotel, but at these prices airbnbs tend to offer much more space. I think for a hotel at above $200 per night in a city like Philly, let alone the $350 per night here after all taxes/fees, you should be getting at least a shower with good pressure, a tv that works well, daily housekeeping, an elevator (or 1 floor walk up only) and a luxury comfortable unsqueaky bed.

Beautiful room. Serene and airy. Great kitchen and spacious bathroom. A few nitpicking issues - hence 4 stars… 1. We stayed in room “Ben”. Three flights of stairs. It was not obvious from the description. I would make that more clear - more transparent. 2. The bed could be upgraded. Mattress not super good for my back. Also it is small - queen? 3. The bathroom shower has very little pressure. The ceiling mounted spout is marginal/ok. The wall mounted spout leaks - basically no pressure. 4. You have to make your own bed - no big deal but the idea is that this is to “respect your privacy”. Let me have the option … Would be a 5 star if addressed. Still a great spot especially for a longer stay.

Lokal hotel truly provides a "home-away-from-home" experience. Living at the Lokal made me feel like a local (pun intended). The customer service is top notch -- my emails were answered within minutes, both before and during my visit. I will not stay anywhere else from now on when visiting the city. Thank you, Lokal, for the wonderful experience!

This hotel was perfect for our family of 4: a separate dark and quiet bedroom in the Tina suite so our littles and we could really sleep, no carpets- so it was truly clean, and a full kitchen table where we could eat, heat and store the meals we ordered in. Gorgeous, light-filled room with modern finishes and a city street view. Walkable to the party we came into town to attend as well as some historic sights and cute restaurants. Super responsive, friendly service a text away. For us, Lokal was perfect, and we will be back!

Absolutely loved the Lokal Hotel in Old City! From the spacious room to the historic charm of the building, we would recommend this space to anyone looking for a fun stay in a quiet, quaint part of Philly. Super walkable location and so many gems to check out right outside your hotel room! Would happily stay again.

Service is great, they accommodated a date change, made our anniversary stay extra special, and check-in/out is very simple and convenient. Room was just like the photos, well-maintained, roomy, VERY clean (rare these days), and amenities felt luxurious. We wanted for nothing. We stayed in the Billy and didn’t have much of a climb but the stairs are intimidating if you have to keep going. Billy is on the street and it’s busy during the day, regular business noise (deliveries and traffic), but the neighborhood gets very quiet in the evening and other guests respected quiet hours. We will definitely stay next time we’re in Philly. There’s plenty to explore right by the hotel and they definitely help you feel like a local!

Another stay for me at the Lokal Hotel in Old City, PA. I thoroughly enjoy my stay at this Hotel, being able to walk outside the front door head in any direction not far from where I want to go. So much to see and enjoy. I am hooked on their rooms and all the amenities and cleanliness. Without a doubt I will be back.

A beautiful space with a fully equipped kitchen, washer, and dryer. Also in a very convenient location for walking around and exploring the area. I had a wonderful stay. The “Will” suite was awesome!

Gorgeous room aesthetic. Area is conveniently located around wellness opportunities and restaurants. The online host Camille was excellent with recommendations and offering to make arrangements on my behalf. Would highly recommend.

We absolutely loved this place. It's really more of an airbnb as there is an "invisible" staff, albeit very responsive. I love neighborhood boutique hotels so this is my jam, but it won't have a gym, a lobby, a bar, etc. if that's what you're looking for. But it is thoughtful - complete with a yoga mat and music/streaming as well as basic kitchen amenities and locally sourced goods like coffee and a washer/dryer if you are mid trip and need to refresh. Bathroom is huge, everything was spacious and windows were incredible. It felt very European. I don't quite understand why king beds aren't standard for accommodation but they aren't and it was fine with a queen. I have zero knowledge of Philly but Old City was for sure a perfect location as far as I could tell. Great restaurants and cafes all nearby and lots of local, i.e. non chain, boutiques. The only downside was that our rental car was stolen from the street overnight, which really tainted our overall enjoyment, but that had nothing to do with where we were and probably everything to do with the fact that we had a Kia. We'd love to return to enjoy it undistracted!

We stayed at Lokal Fishtown and honestly the best hotel we have been to so far! Every detail was well thought out and it honestly felt like our second home. There are a lot of places, cafes, and restaurants to see around the area so you will never be hungry in case you don't fancy cooking. We can't wait to visit again!

We enjoyed our stay and the location was fantastic. We had trouble with the AC. The wall unit in the common area does not blow very strongly, so it takes quite a while for the unit to cool down. The portable unit appears to be only functional as a fan, so it did not blow cooled air. We stayed in the Tina unit.

My husband, friends, and I loved everything about Hotel Lokal. From the decor and natural lighting, to the functionality - and probably our favorite, the Bluetooth music set up with Spotify perfectly playing through the loft - and the kind and attentive staff, it was a wonderful stay. The location is great too, very easy to get an Uber or walk to the main sites. And there is a cute cafe right at the corner where we enjoyed tea every day. If I had to give a recommendation it would be to have some sort of air flow in the private bedroom in the Louisa suit so you don’t have to sleep with the door propped open. A fan at the very least but even a small unit to cool it during the warm months. Our friends had that room and said it got pretty stuffy. But that’s the only thing! Everything else is perfect. Do note if you’re staying in Louisa, the loft is up three flights of steep stairs. There is a rail, but good to know for families, and those who find it hard to climb them. This will definitely be our go to when we visit again and my recommendation to family, friends, and clients. Thank you for a great stay!

Coolest, best place we've ever stayed - wish I could give 6 stars - my husband exclaimed upon leaving "we're only staying at LoKal from here on!". If they were in every city, that would absolutely be true (please open more!!). The interior design is inspiring, location perfect and cool, felt like a real (high end) apartment, clean, every detail attended to - check in and reservations a breeze . . . Bravo!!!!

Loved the curated details and cleanliness of our beautiful room! Sonos added the perfect ambiance for us. Very cool space and we hope to return soon. Being in our 60’s, climbing to the 4th floor was a fun challenge.

My friend and I stayed at the Louisa apartment in Old Town and we fell in love with the space the moment we walked in there. There was so much natural light! The apartment is beautifully designed with attention to detail. We enjoyed using the kitchen - it had everything we needed for cooking meals. Contactless check-in and check-out were super easy a d convenient. The location couldn't be any better, so close to all the attractions, shops and restaurants. Highly recommend Stay Lokal to anyone traveling to Philadelphia.

The Lokal was so well-appointed, with no detail sparred. The owner was very responsive and recommended some places to eat which were amazing. The old town neighborhood is filled with galleries, boutiques, coffee shops and restaurants. It was truly a unique and relaxing experience. I plan to stay again and highly recommend it.

I booked the Betsy suite for my girls and I to get ready in before my wedding - everyone could not stop commenting on how perfect the space was! It was the perfect relaxing, yet beautiful space. The Lokal team was super responsive whenever we reached out and helped us with whatever we needed. The coffee they provided was DELICIOUS and we loved the bar cart. My nieces absolutely loved the bunk beds and the sound system was perfect. My only complaint is I wish we could have stayed longer! I highly recommend staying at Lokal!

We recently stayed in Lokal Old City for a birthday staycation and can't say enough good things about this property. The thoughtful amenities, coffee... even the olive oil and beautiful bar cart added such nice touches and made us feel right at home. We enjoyed our stay and loved the convenience that the hotel offered us. A MUST visit if you're looking for a different, unique boutique hotel.

I really loved my stay at Lokal in Old City. After a short adjustment period and a long walk up the stairs, I truly felt like I had my own little apartment in town. Amenities were top notch, sound system, coffee and toiletries all superb. Had a few questions and was able to get answers quickly on text. Highly recommend and I will definitely stay here again!

Betsy is an awesome room! Tons of character and plenty of space for 3 of us. All the amenities and way more comfortable that a hotel room. Makes you want to kick back, relax and enjoy. Highly recommended and thank you Lokal! P.S. Invisible Service rocks.

The Lokal Hotel - Old City was one of the best hotel experiences I've had. The location, building, room, and staff (Barbie) were amazing! Customer service was beyond incredible. Super clean, stylish, and within walking distance of everything dope! The best vibe ever!

We loved our stay over Memorial Day weekend! Before we arrived the hotel was really great about communicating and accommodating late check out and letting us safely store our bags inside the front doors before we could check into our room. The room itself was in a perfect location to safely walk around Old City! Quick walk to North Liberties / Fishtown and quick walk over to Penns Landing and Center City. The room itself exceeded our expectations. Nice lofted ceilings and spacious room. Really comfortable bed too. We were just one floor up off the ground but didn’t hear much street noise besides Saturday night and didn’t need the complimentary ear plugs provided. Gorgeous separated bathroom and large walk in shower in our room “Billy” Would recommend as a great jumping off point to explore Philly for the first time. We loved the old time feel of the neighborhood and quick access to other parts of the city. We felt safe and pampered. We initially were interested in the Fishtown location but we’re very happy we chose Old City since it’s closer to more neighborhoods to explore on foot. Thanks for everything!

This is the perfect hotel for any vacation. It was especially wonderful for my family as we waved to see all the history of Philadelphia. We were walking distance to every historic venue we wanted to see. The rooms were perfect for my family as we had space to move around and cook some meals. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit this amazing city.

I stayed in the room called Ben, it was a large, well appointed studio apartment with very interesting views and an impeccable design. The location is perfect with a great cafe right next door and plenty of dinner options as well. Located in the Old City and you feel like you've stepped back in time.

  • 5/5 Michelle B. 1 year ago on Google
What a great experience! We stayed in Billy and found everything clean and comfortable. All the best parts of an Airbnb and a hotel combined into one prime location. Even at the front of the building it was quiet - especially at night which was a surprise. It was a great way to celebrate my husband’s birthday AND my daughter’s college parents weekend. They were kind enough to accommodate an early check in which really helped. My only “complaint” would be that we only had enough coffee to make a pot the first morning and not the second- but it just made us explore the fabulous local spots (don’t miss Menagerie!)

  • 5/5 Alexandra C. 1 year ago on Google
I almost never write reviews but our stay at the Lokal Hotel in Old City was exceptional. The room was beautiful and well appointed, and the level of service was top notch even with no on-site staff. Would love to return or visit some of their other properties!

For my 40th birthday, my family and friends gathered in Philadelphia to celebrate. We booked the entire hotel, and had a marvelous experience. It was absolutely perfect. All the rooms are spacious, well decorated, and well equipped with kitchenettes. The suites were excellent for larger families who needed two separate rooms. And they went the extra mile in providing oat milk in each fridge due to my dairy allergy. It is also within walking distance to all the important sights. I would highly recommend this hotel when visiting Philadelphia!

  • 5/5 Ann B. 1 year ago on Google
I really enjoyed my girls weekend in the city. The hotel was located in the heart of the best surroundings. We were able to walk to the top restaurants nearby and visit the local shops. But best of all was the hotel decor and amenities. It’s a vey thought out drain with all the comforts. I would recommend this to any out of town guests!

  • 5/5 Vin M. 1 year ago on Google
The best hotel group in Philly/South Jersey! The Lokal is great because they consider the details. Everything in each unit is thought out and practical. They really make you feel like a "local". This is my absolutely favorite place to stay when visiting Philly and great location in Old City, walking distance to Center City, and a quick ride over to Fishtown and the pier. Couldn't recommend enough.

  • 5/5 Jordan V. 1 year ago on Google
This hotel was amazing. The aesthetic and the little details made it an amazing staycation for our wedding weekend. The Lokal Hotel Old City employees were very responsive and great with any of our inquiries. I would recommend this hotel to everyone I know and can't wait to get a chance to stay again!

Great, unique hotel in Old City. Walkable to coffee, restaurants, things to do. Beautifully designed room - calm, spacious, comfortable. Lots of great touches and details. Easy to use front door, room entrance, iPad audio controller. I’d definitely stay here again.

I am taking the time to do this review because I simply loved the Lokal Hotel in Old City Philly. The space was huge, exactly as promised. Actually, even better. The details were impeccable. Coffee and cream awaiting. Lovely fluffy robes. A bar set up for us to enjoy if we chose. We were so impressed with the decor, comfort and cleanliness of the room. (I hesitate to call it a "room" because it's the size of a studio apartment.) August heat was no problem...the ac was fantastic. The kitchen water is filtered, which saves on buying water. The neighborhood is perfect: surrounded by galleries, shops, restaurants. Right in the heart of the historic district and close to the waterfront. One thing to note: be sure you can climb stairs if you plan to stay here. Our room was on the top floor, which required 45 steps to get there. I didn't mind and loved the exercise tbh, but someone less able would have issues.

Loved the Ben room. So quiet and the atmosphere and interior design was very nice. Super comfy bed and linens. Only complaint was that I could not get the included HBO/Netflix to work and the concierge didn't seem to know either so I had to stream from my own account. Also, the coffee maker didn't work so I didn't get the included Rival Bros coffee, which I was looking forward to. And last little complaint was that the water pressure was also a bit low (it's an old building so expected!). But, all in all, would still stay there again for sure!

The Ben room was very nice, and well appointed. Furniture in the living area was pretty worn and dirty. Also, water pressure in shower was practically non-existent, and the bathroom sink was clogged and would not drain. Otherwise, it was nice, but without a good functioning bathroom i can only give it three stars. Hopefully housekeeping/maintenance will address this issue, but pay attention to this if you stay here. Not sure about the other rooms. Location is also great.
