Went here on an off night, sadly it was dead due to the Birds losing (again) but the bartender was awesome nonetheless, great attitude and spirit! Nice ambience, will definitely go back and try their food (hopefully it'll be busier)

Went to the Black Cat Tavern for the first time before the holidays with family. One of the best meals I’ve had in recent memory. We ordered a couple of special items in addition to food from the standard menu and cocktails. The cocktails were all delicious and every food item was a stand out. Hard to highlight any one thing - since it was all so good - but the Kielbasy Burger and the Pickle Soup (special) were full grand slams. Super chill mom & pop tavern vibes - close to the stadiums/casino so would be a great pre-game stop. I haven’t stopped talking to family and friends about this place and our meal since my night there. Will be returning very soon.

The food is great, but the drinks are amazing. It's obvious the lead bartender puts a lot of love into the signature cocktails and the whole drink menu. I'm a big fan of whiskey cocktails, and last night I had the best Old Fashioned I've had anywhere. And then I had the second best Manhattan I've had!

They always have a great and plentiful beer selection to choose from. They have cleverly named cocktails and a delicious food menu that is vegetarian/vegan friendly. Periodically, the tavern holds events like art shows, drag shows, and stand-up comedy. The vibe is relaxed and low key. They cycle between being busy to quite dead frequently. The atmosphere is welcoming. The bartenders are friendly and attentive.

Do not sleep on this absolute gem of an establishment. This unassuming little bar makes some of the best food I've eaten in my decade living in Philly. Try the Polish sampler, pickled fruits and veggies, dill pickle soup (really), and mushroom-apple kraut. Well worth a trip to South Philly, but do yourself a favor and get delivery if you are feeling lazy. I only found out about this place when I moved a few blocks away, but it is easily among my favorite places to eat in any neighborhood.

Amazing place! The bartender there makes his own handcrafted cocktails and they were delicious. He was so friendly and telling us all about his bar, his drinks, and just about Philly in general. We grabbed a quick bite to eat and the pierogies were phenomenal. Very glad we stopped by.

We stopped by on our way to a basketball game and had a great dinner and conversation with the bartender. Very friendly staff and the food was excellent - reasonably priced and delicious. We got the pierogis, tavern burger, and kielbasy burger. Highly recommend.

It's a great neighborhood bar with great service. You can go alone and not be lonely. You'll have people to talk to. The only bummer is the food portions are tiny and the food way overpriced. They have a very small menu, showcasing a few polish crowd pleasers. The kielbasa burger is tasty but we were all still hungry after eating the tiny sandwich and barely-there side salad. Definitely not worth $12. Since we were still hungry we ordered the pierogi which were nothing to write home about either, and $$$. If you're only going to have a few menu items, make them memorable and fantastic and large enough to fill your tummy, or cheaper to match portion size. The kielbasa burger is the same size as Fountain Porter's $5 burger.

I've been looking for a place with chill atmosphere, delicious food, and unique drinks and this place hit all the marks. Brian, Mike, and Max were fantastic. It was a slower night and they let me ask question after question, take a look at great artwork, and overall made me feel like I'd been going there for years Can't wait to go back for their Martini Tuesday deals and fun events like their Pop Up Market and Comedy Shows!! Thanks guys for an incredible experience.

Spontaneously stumbled on this South Philly gem! Really charismatic people and a very nice and clean atmosphere. They had funky May 4th specials and my girlfriend went for the adventure and got "Sam's Magic Sword" and the Boba Fettucine. Really great prices and fun environment.

I live in the area and have been coming here for years. Friendly staff, mouth-watering food, wonderful cocktail & beer selections, and nice patrons. Whether you're from area or looking for a low-key spot before heading down to the stadiums, you should check this place out!

The pierogis are every bit as good as they say. The folks were friendly, the music was good. Relaxed and charming in equal measure, it was a delightful place to spend an evening.

Great spot for Polish food in South Philly. The pickle soup was amazing, pair it up with bigos and kopytka and you are in heaven. The staff was great, entertaining and very attentive. Worth the trip to the Deep South!
