Emergency room β€’ Emergency care service

😠 Horrible experience. I went to the emergency room here when I was feeling very dizzy and weak like I was going to pass out. When I got there they took my blood and urine and then had me wait in the waiting room which maybe had 3 or 4 other people in it. I was there for almost 4 hours and barely saw... Horrible experience. I went to the emergency room here when I was feeling very dizzy and weak like I was going to pass out. When I got there they took my blood and urine and then had me wait in the waiting room which maybe had 3 or 4 other people in it. I was there for almost 4 hours and barely saw anyone else get admitted including a very elderly woman in a gown and wheel chair who no one checked in on even once during that period and she was there before me. I yelled at them to at least get her water or something which she thanked me for. They had no idea when they might see me and it was so late and I was feeling worse just being in there so I finally left despite not feeling well and decided Id just go to urgent care the next morning (which I did). To top it all off they sent me a bill for $66.16. And you can guess what they said when I told them I didn't receive any services. "Well we took blood and urine samples when you got here." Great thanks for that. That really helped me a lot. I wasn't even given the results. "They're online." Oh well that's good to know months later. What a dangerous joke this place is! Get it together NAH. I know someone who used to work here and after I told them what happened they told me never to go to this hospital if you can help it. I'm sure if you are having a serious emergency (which sometimes is hard to know just how serious it is) you have to go to the closest place but Id try to avoid this one if you can. I've encouraged my elderly parents to move from this area just because I'm so concerned about this being their closest ER - which they're considering.

Here with daughter for cardiac problems since 12:45 pm it is now 3:53 pm and still waiting to get roomed. Told 4 people ahead of her. Another patient waiting since approximately 10:00am this morning with abdominal pain. ZERO STARS Update 6:30 pm and still not roomed yet. Abdominal patient went back a few minutes ago. Update #2 10:00 pm finally just took my daughter back to a room to be seen. This is unacceptable. I am at a loss for words.

I went in for extremely severe abdominal pain and waited for 6 hours to be seen, only to be told that I was fine and needed to find a specialist to get any help. So I ended up going to an ER in Phoenix instead because of the pain and was admitted immediately with dehydration, iron deficiency, and found out after having a CT scan rushed that I have Irritable Bowel Disease. This place (VVMC) has sent me home every time I've ever come here no matter what the problem was or how much pain I was in. I was very ill and sent home when I shouldn't have been. I'm very upset that this hospital is so understaffed, and a quick check-up isn’t enough when a patient needs real help. Please, VVMC, don't be so quick send people away when they're insisting something is wrong.

This is probably the worst ER i have sought help from. 3 people were in the waiting room, and it took over 5 hours to be seen. This hospital needs a change really quick. Definitely, not an Emergency Room.

I had hoped that after 5 years and an employee change new Doctors that this hospital and emergency room would get better. Not at all. I've been sitting here almost 3 hours waiting to be see for an issue with my lower back and legs. They were kind enough to do x-ray while I wait but that's it. Most of the nursing staff are amazing under the circumstances. Nurses can only do so much. I thought after COVID and things are better that waiting time would get better. Nope. If I could go to Flagstaff or Prescott I would but because of my cancer the altitude is not my friend. Please do better for your community

This is not a review of the doctors or nurses but of the experience of waiting 6 hours in the waiting room. One man was violently vomiting for at least 1 hour. Another man came in a wheel chair vomiting and looked slumped over and very Ill. His caretaker left with him after not being seen after waiting awhile. Another woman who was 86 and in distress thought she was 75 when her caretaker asked her. There were probably 20 to 25 people in the room. Ambulances and a helicopter were seen coming in. It was an experience I will never forget. I was fortunate to have a friend with me but it was still rather horrifying. So many sick people and I am assuming just not enough help?

After the incompetence health services received by YRMC East and West Campuses. We were desperately needing medical answers. After enduring abdominal pain and diarrhea for 19 days. Yes, we waited for several hours in the waiting room, however once we were able to be seen by the medical staff and physicians, they took immediate action. After being admitted for 4 days, received a diagnosis and the treatment needed to cure the problem. I can't say THANK YOU enough. From the time we arrived in the ER to the time of discharge we are truly grateful for the services rendered. The staff is truly amazing and appreciated.

Dr. Jacob Shank and his staff were incredible. I’ve never experienced such amazing bed side manners in an emergency room setting. Dr. Shank was very thorough and listened to all of my concerns and the travel nurse - I wish I got her name - I had who was so kind, made my time there much more comfortable than I normally would have been.

By bad luck we are here every year for one reason or another, I don't know if they don't realize that their system doesn't work, it's simply collapsed, many people end up or decide to leave the place and even then the waiting time is not reduced by 10 hours. Last time I will update my comment to say what I have at the moment. I ended up waiting 8 hours
