Cool little spot in kinda residential area.. the unfinished chic look.. I had the carne asada burrito which was very tasty. My son had the carne asada tacos also very good. The meat was very well marinated , great flavor. The house Margaritas were also very tasty!!

Gallo Blanco is my husband and daughter's favorite Mexican restaurant in Phoenix. All the food is made from scratch. A handful of salsas for chips and Guacamole which is a 5 out of 5, so good! All the tacos have fresh, soft and warm tortillas. A wide variety of the tacos to choose from too. They've got a full best and funky staff along with great customer service from our waiter Kyle. This place is a restaurant you cannot miss!

Randomly discovered this place, but I am sure happy I did. I didn't expect to love fall in love after one bite. The Carne asada tacos is where it's at. They we so good I had to get some to go. Even the next morning I would say the Carne asada tacos are the best ones in the valley I have had. Definitely will be back

First time trying this place tonight. Have been wanting to try it. Our server (didn’t catch her name but receipt said Berry) was amazing, very friendly, attentive, and explained the menu well. The food was delicious. I had chicken enchiladas, while my friends had a variety of foods. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We also had two drinks each that’s were good as well. Overall for the four of us and two drinks each was about $160 (before tip)

Wow. I've tried a few things here and there's a lot good on the menu. Flapjacks one unexpected specialty. But I gotta say, the combination of shrimp, barbacoa and vegetable tacos is A1. The Elote (Mexican street corn) here is a standout in flavor and authenticity. I will judge a place on their street corn. 😎 The burger is surprisingly good, and I have yet to try out the fried chicken sandwich, but it's in the queue. The "La Flaca" (skinny) margarita here is close to perfection in terms of price to quality ratio. Else, the spicy Picosso margarita is my favorite. Modelo on tap. Finally tried the Bistec al Carbon (pic added), phenomenal. Comes with corn tortillas. Best self-assembled tacos possible 😊

Went here as a surprise invitation from my girl. I liked the little quaint out of the place very much. The atmosphere was festive and vibrant. The hostess and the cooks were great as well. The food was a combination of things that I would never have thought of and we got full on appetizers. Yummy!! Go as you will love it and be pleasantly surprised to say the least. Love the vibe!!

What a Gem, nice family owned restaurant hidden in a neighborhood near downtown Phoenix. I had there Green Chile Chilaquilles and let me tell you they were delicious. From the presentation to the taste it’s worth every penny! There house made lemonade with chips and homemade salsas were great as well. Come by and see for your self, it’s worth it.

Well, this was unexpected. What a great find. Everything was delicious. The asada tacos were well seasoned. The pastor was not goopy and had great flavor. The pork belly had a nice crisp and the pickled onions on top balanced the sweetness. Both salsas were great but I preferred the green, sweet cilantro flavor and decent heat. The Tres Leches was a perfect way to end the meal. I’ll definitely be back to try more!!!

I used to live three houses down and grew up coming to the American Way market for 25c fudgecicles and orange fanta bottles. I was bothered at first by seeing this old neighborhood “gentrified” or what have you. But on my first visit to Gallo Blanco, everything felt familiar. The other people in the restaurant felt like locals, not tourists. The food was traditional but not. There were some twists on Mexican staple foods, but the taste and the experience felt like being in the dining room or backyard of one of my friends houses eating Nana’s chilaquiles and tacos. A properly executed restaurant curates an experience. And that’s exactly what the crew at Gallo Blanco does. They serve up delicious meals and the feeling of Nana’s kitchen.

Wanted to try something new and Gallo Blanco via Google reviews was chosen today. Highly rated with amazing photos of the food it did not disappoint...The only challenge was trying to find parking. On the actual lot there's probably 8 parking spots with an additional 6 spots on the street. You walk into the restaurant and notice beautiful art work throughout. High ceilings with the frame visible and multiple areas that show the brick walls. I'm assuming the restaurant used to be a church or maybe an old store front years ago. Lots of choices on the menu and today's choices were a carne asada burrito and the La Parradilla " family tacos. Starting with the burrito, great tasting crispy tortilla filled with carne asada. Overall it was a good burrito, carne asada was good. I'm still on the hunt for a GREAT carne asada burrito.. On to the family tacos this was truly the star of the meal. 2 types of meat,6 corn tortillas, charred onion, pineapple and yellow pepper. Meats chosen were the barbacoa and pastor. There's so much meat you could literally make about 10-12 tacos. Barbacoa had a nice light char, good flavor (for context Taco boyz barbacoa had a little more flavor and wet). The pastor had great char and flavor was there ( for context I would have to say that Los taquitos Pastor has more of an oven cook to it with a different flavor that ranks a tad bit higher. Overall a great spot hidden in a historic neighborhood surrounded by homes. A hidden jewel worth visiting and will return.

Fantastic food, the chips were so clean and didn't taste oily, guacamole was super fresh, enchiladas were amazing, the fried rice had such good veggies cooked in. Atmosphere is nice and cozy, very modern. Very happy having tried it!

The food is 5 star. Would definitely come back. Table ordered salad, rice bowl, pozole, huevos rancheros (best we've found yet in the valley!), and guac. All was fresh, authentic flavors. Also tried watermelon agua fresca and cafe con horchata, both fantastic. Could use small improvements in service and we had a menu mix-up, but overall great experience.

Lovely space, amazing chips & salsa, with light take on authentic Mexican food! Not many vegetarian or vegan options. The vegetable torta could have been better, it was mainly cauliflower and squash with bread, it made it a little difficult to eat but the bread was good! The space was very open, clean and nicely kept. I'd probably go back if they added more plant based items!

This place was INCREDIBLE!!!! The guacamole was EVERYTHING, the food was authentic and outstanding and the service was top notch! This was our first top in Phoenix and it certainly won’t be our last! Our bartender Alex realized we were from out of town and provided us with a list restaurants and bars to visit!!! In addition, gave us a free dessert on the house. He was very attentive and made sure our experience was everything we could have hoped for! THANK YOU ALEX, YOU ROCK!

The ceviche appetizer was very good and so were the carne asada and shrimp tacos. Service was mediocre. The server was nice but he seemed impatient. I'm not going to rush, especially on my first visit, when I'm unfamiliar with the menu.

I had walked by on a tipsy night through the Roosevelt district and thought, this place looks promising. Almost a year would pass before I finally got the chance to experience Gallo Blanco. I arrived just before 6pm in an effort to secure happy hour prices but quickly learned happy hour is all day on Tuesday. $80 later I walked out with a full belly and a buzz from the mechaldas. The staff was busy but still found a way to keep encouraging me to order more. The night from there went well and I'd happily return for a rematch.

I was excited to try this location since they moved from The Clarendon Hotel. The building that they're currently in was wonderfully reconstructed and the decor is modern and tastefully done. It use to be a small neighborhood market back in the 80's. With it's old red brick architecture, it gave the ambiance a nice nostalgic feel. The drinks are awesome and the food is still delicious. Because they're locally owned, we'll be back again. However, I'm hoping that their service will be better. Our server seemed very rushed with us and brought us our ticket before even asking us if we wanted anything else. When he returned with our second round of drinks, he was quick to let us know it was last call. They do have weird hours due to covid 19, and maybe that's why he was in a mood (or maybe he didn't want to be there). We'll be sitting at the bar on our next visit. That section seemed to give off a better vibe as the night progressed. Stay tuned, I'll be updating this review.

Gallo Blanco Cafe is the best Mexican food I have had in Phoenix. Fresh ingredients, delicious flavors, healthy portions, and amazing service... my Mexican grandmother would approve. The Al Pastor Tacos were fabulous, the best I've ever had outside of Mexico City. Tortillas are excellent. The Chilaquiles were top notch and big enough to share with another person. What I love most is that the chefs aren't trying to over complicate their food. The dishes are simple, very well put together using local ingredients, and the total bill didn't break the bank. What's more... the servers add to the experience with their awesome attitudes and genuine pride for where they work. I can't wait to go back and experience this menu dish by dish. It's my new favorite spot for all things Mexican cuisine. Oh... and I am definitely going back to try their mouth watering selection of mezcals and tequilas. Sign me up for Happy Hour, baby - I am hooked!

We liked Gallo Blanco ok when it was at the Clarendon Hotel. The food was good, but for us it was a little too slick, catering to a mob that was much younger, much hipper and much louder than us. This version on Pierce screams autentico. Foodies? Sure? Trendy? Yup. But the atmosphere is all about the food. Line up to make your choice from an eclectic menu, find a seat, and wait on table service with your drink. Don’t miss the guacamole and I’ll only say that rarely. The venerable Bo McMillan likes the invuelto and so do I. The Asada is excellent in both flavor and texture, as is the Pastor. We shared feather light churros to finish. Keeper

  • 3/5 JD H. 4 years ago on Google
Food was good, just surprised that they sell "tortas" without avocado and sell it on the side. Furthermore, it was served as a side and not in the torta. The server, that we had specifically, wasnt at all attentive and rather than bringing out the food as ordered, it was brought to the table and auctioned off for the owner of each dish to call out for it. Only pointing it out because other servers have provided better service. Perhaps an off-day for him? Also had to go look for our drinks and some of our order that didn't make it to the table with the rest of the food.

First of all, expect to pay a bit - like for everything. But that said, the food is exceptional! Everything from the chips and salsa (the true measure of any Mexican restaurant, right?!!) to the barbacoa and the Taco Dorado was seriously fantastic. I like that they have clearly marked vegan and GF dishes for those who swing that way. They have some great beers on tap, service was excellent, bathrooms were clean and well stocked. It was a great all-around experience (except when the check came). Highly, highly recommended this place for rock solid Mexican cuisine

I've been to this restaurant a few times for both breakfast and dinner service. Breakfast was good, as I had the breakfast burrito. It is confusing going there for breakfast, as I had previously gone there for lunch and for breakfast it's counter service. However, there isn't any signs letting customers know when they walk in. The pancakes are the best, I've ever had at a restaurant. You can tell they make their pancake batter from scratch. Their food is fresh, made with passion and rich in flavor.

We were in town for a business trip and decided to stop in due to the great reviews. Well we are glad we did, everything was great. The atmosphere is modern and laid back, the service was great also attentive but not overbearing at all. The food was amazing, we sampled most of the appetizers on the menu! After those we had some amazing food. Do yourself a favor and stop in if you are in the area.

This place is absolutely amazing for so many reasons. First off, they serve brunch until 4pm which is perfect for a late start on a Saturday or Sunday. The smoke salmon tarting is not of the best Benedict dishes I’ve ever had. The breakfast burrito is excellent and the hubby enjoys the huevos rancheros Christmas style (both red and green sauce). If we’re there for dinner or taco Tuesday, I gravitate toward their tacos...normally a carne asada, Campechano, and Del Mar fish taco. You can get them on a lettuce cup vs the tortillas which I would highly recommend as their is so much flavor and seasoning. Hubby enjoys the pozole (both rojo and vegetarian). For an appetizer, I would recommend the chicharron con quest (crispy melted cheese that you dip in quest). Sounds like a lot but it’s great. Finally, the drinks are excellent! We always sit at the bar which is catered by an excellent, friendly staff. Highly highly recommend Gallo Blanco!

This is one of my all time favorite Mexican restaurants. The cocktails here are phenomenal. My personal go to is the Ernesto Hemingway. The mescal gives it a smoky flavor. You have to try it! Also happy hour 3-6 daily with great food and drink specials. If near downtown Phoenix you should check it out

I also ordered the elote callejero and it was so delicious! All this went well with the bloody mary I had. Basic and simple but well done. I cant wait for the next visit to Phoenix to try some of their other entrees.

The service was great, but the burritos were incredibly average and nearly flavorless. They truly just tasted like meat in a tortilla. The Al pastor had no pineapple in it, and very little flavor of pineapple. The burritos were mostly beans and felt overpriced as a result. The ceviche was really tasty, but unfortunately nothing could match the good smells found outside the restaurant.

The dip trio and margaritas to start. All the juices are made fresh and they are delicious. Street corn and al pastor tacos were 10/10. Brunch menu served until 4. The pancakes were buttery and delicious. 5 stars!

Great bar area, and cool atmosphere. We got Tortas and the meat was good, we add salsa to it and was better (less dry). I hope they improve this dish. For desserts we ordered Churros, it comes with two long ones, with 3 sweets to add (tasty) made in house, we will give them another try to see improvement.

Visiting Phoenix for the day, and checked out Gallo Blanco based on the guacamole recommendations. The guacamole was wonderful, but the La bomba torte and the pork belly taco were even better. So yummy. I don’t think I’ve ever had a better taco. Loved the horchata and tres leche cake as well.

A friend refers to Gallo Blanco as his favorite Mexican restaurant in the Valley, and now that I’ve been here I understand why! The tacos were utterly phenomenal (the pork belly was insane 🤤) and the cocktails were amazing. Huge shoutout to David for being such a fun bartender! Will definitely be back.

We stopped in to this neighborhood restaurant/ bar and the atmosphere is nice. What a make-over from my childhood American Way store. My wife and I ordered a house magarita and Modelo. The margarita tasted like straight margarita mix with no téquilal.😔

Happy hour is from 3-6 they have wine/beer and margaritas for $5. The wine wasn’t great, stick with the margarita The food was stellar- I had two alacart tacos- Al pastor and the puervo Colorado. Preferred the Al pastor but both were very good. Hubs said his burrito was ‘the best he’s ever had’ so there you go. We also shared some elote- very good. The person next to us ordered Pozole (HUGE portion) so we ended up ordering one to go for lunch the following day. It was outstanding. Service was super friendly as well.

Joint is pretty chill, it’s definitely a vibe ! The service was terrific BUT the food was not it 😭 !!!! I was very disappointed to say the very least… my burrito had a few pieces of meat in it and we spent about $200 I literally got a veggie burrito. Their system won’t let you have multiple checks per table so we all had to zelle each other so one could pay I don’t think that’s convenient for the customers plus they add the tip on your check then give you the option to add a tip AGAIN when you pay with card and have to sign the receipt that they keep so I don’t think that very honest because I’m sure people get confused and add the tip twice. Our waitress was super nice and she gave us a tres leches piece of cake on the house that was AMAZING. I know my family and I will not be going back. The place has potential but we didn’t appreciate over priced bland Mexican food with small portions
