Visiting town from Los Angeles and this has to be my favorite breakfast place that I have been to so far. The portion sizes are extremely generous and the taste is delicious. The prices are very fair but it is cash only. The only downside is there usually is a wait because anything this good has to be popular. Our server was very polite and the food came out quickly. I ordered coffee and orange juice to start like I always do and was happy to see they brought out a full pitcher of coffee for me and left it on the table. I knew then I was about to have a great meal. There are many great menu options but I chose one of the specials today. Eggs Benedict is one of my favorite breakfast dishes so I chose the Birria Benedict and it was amazing. It reminded me of home, the flavors were deep, and everything was cooked very well. We also ordered the strawberry pop tart and the brioche cinnamon roll and both were wonderful. I would highly recommend to any fan of breakfast or good food.

I saw the owner on the news Sunday morning discussing his love of Hawaii and his fund raising for the people of Maui. We decided to stop in after church to help out. The place has a fun vibe, clearly the Aloha philosophy. The owner was gracious, our server Danielle was delightful. The service was fast, the food was good and we will definitely be back.

We finally had the opportunity to eat at Original Breakfast House and...it was well worth the wait. Every time we attempt to go to this restaurant, there are a ridiculous amount of people waiting, so we opt to go elsewhere. Today we waited the 25 minutes and it was great. The surf theme for the restaurant was interesting for the state of Arizona but refreshing. The place was packed but not too close and you could feel the good vibes around. There's often times we will go to a restaurant and it can feel off putting. That was not the case here as everyone genuinely appeared happy to be here. I'm a vegetarian, so I often look for a couple of things when trying a new restaurant. I look to see if they have anything to offer me. This restaurant has a few salads, pancakes, waffles, french toast, crepes, and the beyond impossible burger. So they did have things that I could eat, but the other thing I look for is to see if the restaurant will work with me to do a customized entree to accommodate my needs. I ordered the Cali burrito without the eggs or bacon and stuffed with whatever veggies they could find and...it was delicious, the staff didn't give me a hard time about my request, and the burrito was bigger than I thought it would be. Kudos to them for all of the above for me. Next my husband ordered the John Wayne western omelet and he said it was one of the best omelets he'd ever had. He said typically when he gets an omelet, everything is sort of on one side but not this omelet. He said everything was even throughout and there was more than just egg in each bite. We also ordered a plate of French toast to try and it was heavenly. It was fried just enough to have some crisp to it, but not burnt or overdone. It's undertones of cinnamon and spices were not overwhelming and added enough flavor that syrup wasn't really needed but just an added delight. We did take some food home and we paid about $45 for our tab. This is a cash only restaurant BUT they do offer an ATM in the restaurant that does not require a fee for those who do not carry cash anymore...like us. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and she didn't make us feel rushed even though she was very busy. We will be returning to this restaurant in the future and recommending it to everyone we know.

Absolutely amazing food🥰and people! Our waitress (THANKS HEATHER!) was so fantastic and it shows that everyone loves working there and even the owner John came and met us at our table! As a total foodie and Personal Chef this is my favorite food in Phoenix yet, that french toast was AMAZING! Don't regret it by missing this jewel🤩 stop in if you're within 100 Miles!

Been dining here for years. The food is consistently top quality and the specials are often new. I think this is the third review I’ve left. John and his crew are excellent. I noticed one reviewer complaining about an ATM fee. There never have been nor are there now ATM fees. See photo for proof. They have some of the best biscuits and gravy anywhere and serve a real ham steak.

First time here! I ordered the triple berry French toast. It was an amazing dessert lol. Not a place to go in a diet LOL. It was all great. The inside was a little warm and stuffy due to the heat right now. You will have about an hour wait on weekends and busy time. Cash only too FYI. We will be back.

Such an amazing breakfast and staff. These were not your run-of-the-mill breakfasts. They were just a bit extra in flavor, size, and everything else. From the bacon and cheese omelette, to the short stack, to the French toast special... It was superb. Hints of flavor like a bit of lemon in the pancakes and the fried cinnamon dripping off the french toast were really cool touches. Will definitely be back!

FOOD: 10/10 For the cost it's well worth it. The owner was there seating and greeting everyone. He stopped by our table and spoke for a bit which add to our experience. Cost: Affordable and it depends on you. The service we received was hands down amazing 👏 🙌 🙏 just beyond amazing. This is the kind of place you take your family who is from outta town. It's warm, the food taste amazing and the aroma just makes you so hungry. The Portion: See pictures attached. White Box: Cinnamon Roll I give this place 5 stars 🌟 🤩 Breakfast with a Sinaloaian twist 😋 👌

Not very often I write a review but this place just blew me away. I am a southern man with very high gravy standards and their Sawmill Gravy is the best I have found, possibly ever, with exception of my Mama of course. French toast is some of the best as well. Cali burrito, flat out amazing! Would give this place more than 5 stars if I could. Original Breakfast House has found a customer for life if they keep serving up grub this delicious.

This place is an amazing gem in North(ish) Phoenix. Down home, family owned restaurant that feels like it too. We had a wait of about 30 minutes on a Sunday, which wasn't terrible. Sat down, ordered coffee and it was great! I ordered their famous and award winning Chicken fried Chicken. I've never had chicken fried chicken before, heck not even chicken for breakfast before. I could not stop eating it! Highly recommend this place, but bring cash as they don't take cards.

The waitresses are also very welcoming and very kind & friendly. After all with food this good you really expect it. I haven't eaten here in over a year and the thought makes me realize how much I have missed. This is my favorite breakfast and lunch place ever. The food is always, always, always! Outstanding. From the classic breakfast to the pancakes or waffles, the burgers, the.... No I better not list everything I love. I not had anything on the menu I didn't completely enjoy. The waitresses also are excellent at making good recommendations. I asked her to make the toast extra crispy and she brought extra whipped butter. How did she know what I meant by extra crispy? Flawless service and flawlessly perfect meals for my friend and I. You can bet it won't be another year before I return. I miss those pancakes!

My oh my, this place is absolutely banging. From the first savory bite of fried chicken I knew food coma was coming. The food was absolutely delicious, so filling, flavorful, with awesome old breakfast joint vibes. Definitely a must to visit when in the Phoenix area. Service was exceptional and we were well taken care of. Would go again and again.

The brioche cinnamon rolls!!! CASH ONLY (they do have a cash machine inside). We were there at noon on a Monday and we were seated right away. You can tell this place has lots of character once you walk up and see the pink flamingo outside. This a true, honest to goodness classic breakfast restaurant with about every breakfast option one would expect. Staff has fun, and provides good service. There is limited covered parking available. For the busy mornings there is plenty seating in the covered waiting area outside. Lots of surfboards on display inside. If nothing else, go there for the moist, heavily frosted brioche cinnamon rolls!

Lemon blueberry and key lime pancakes were great. Actually all the pancakes were wonderful. Portion sizes are good. Service was amazing. Sausage gravy needed a lot of help from salt and pepper, which was slightly disappointing.

Super nice staff! Yummy sourdough and jam! Great attempts at new takes on food! However, the bacon bacon waffle batter had a touch of unexpected zest that we did not enjoy. The Mexican breakfast tastes really… inauthentic. Can’t recommend based on the food alone.

Holy smokes! It’s been a minute since my last visit and I got new things this time. I am goi g to start with the less exciting, the cinnamon roll was not as good as I remembered it. It wasn’t smothered in icing, just enough on top kind of like a cupcake. Now to the exciting stuff! The carnitas omelette is a must try, this thing is amazing! It is different than any other Sonoran breakfast dish I have ever had. The same can be said for the breakfast chimichanga. Both of these dishes are absolutely incredible. If you’re going more traditional, the biscuits and gravy are fire! You can’t go wrong with their B&G. The other stuff, our service was pretty perfect. Water and coffee stayed full and she actually waited until we had a few bites to ask how everything was. It is a diner, nothing fancy but definitely inviting and cozy. They are cash only.

How did we miss this place and then wait so long! We love breakfast and love trying new places. OBH is hands down amazing! Home style food and they even make their own strawberry jam for the toast. This is a must stop place and worth the drive if you don’t live in the area.

Loved this place. Not a part of town I usually travel to, and was just hungry and didn't have high hopes for the place when I saw the outside from the parking lot across the street. Was blown away by how great it was. They did a great job dressing up an older building and the food was terrific. Can't wait to get another of their cinnamon rolls!

Our party of 4 had the Popeye omelet, Hog heaven, special: chimichurri steak and eggs, and the carnitas street tacos. Everything was outstanding. Fresh, perfectly prepared, generous portions, just so good. Our server was delightful and I'm sorry I didn't catch her name but we really enjoyed our first visit to OBH! We will definitely be return customers. It's is cash only, but they have convenient no fee ATMs available inside.

Everything we had was delicious. We came in for a quick bite before heading up north to see the canyons and it was fast, delicious, clean and friendly. I wish I had a place like this near my hometown. The crepes were A1.

I come here almost every Sunday. The food never disappoints. As soon as you arrive your immediately greeted by the big man himself, the owner, John always smiling and taking down names. Every waiter I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet is friendly, welcoming and seem to really enjoy their working environment. I really emphasize on how DELICIOUS the SOUPS are!!!! Hats off to the chef Ivan I believe his name is! My apologies if I did get the name wrong. You honestly can’t go wrong with any food item. Everything is delicious, fresh, and made with passion. The fresh made coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice to the bakery items. Everything is as delicious as can be. It truly is an AMAZING restaurant. My family will always be coming back! Thanks for the memories my family and I are building here 💕

This place is a cash only restaurant. The first restaurant that I noticed that doesn’t accept digital payments in the US. They have an ATM inside the restaurant for your convenience though. I tried their French toast with berries. Looks like they deep fried the breads. I liked the taste but couldn’t finish the whole meal. It was a different experience!

The staff has always been amazing. Happy, helpful and on point. The food is awesome and once you get the chance to sit down, everything gets to you quickly. Katjia was the name of our waitress this last time. Handled 10 people so so well! Like a real pro! And the food was amazing as always. This is the tenth time at least we've been and the second time I had to take the time to leave an awesome review.

Love, Love, Loved it! Sat my party of 8 in less than 20 minutes with no reservations. Food was amazing and very unique. The owner walks around and greets customers. Staff is always checking in to ensure satisfaction. Not just your waiter. This is a cashless establishment so the owner can afford to pay the staff well and it shows the staff is happy! There are no fee atms on site. Go and enjoy a good meal!

Our experience was amazing from start to finish! Luckily we didn't wait more than 10 mins, although we did hear "be ready to wait" but I walkways take that as a sign of a great restaurant! Our waitress was so great! Knowledgeable on the menu the history of the restaurant and the surrounding area.

First off, my favorite place to be in is San Diego and let me tell you, this place reminds me exactly of it. But that's not why you're reading this review. The restaurant feels like it belongs on a beach. They have surfboards, beach themed goods, and everything that would be in a Surfside shack everywhere on the walls. The menu is a great eclectic mix of of dishes. I don't say this about many restaurants, but trust me when I say this, but Everything that I've had has been incredibly delicious. Like for example, the dish that's attached to this post has Asparagus in it! Who thinks to have Asparagus for breakfast? This dish hit the spot of healthy and hearty, but most of all it was bursting with flavor. And don't even get me started on the French toast. I would go as far as to say it's better then my mom's, but I won't in fear of her reading this review (sorry mom! ??). Give this place a try if you enjoy not only incredible food, but incredible service. This is my new go to favorite for breakfast here in the valley.

First of all, do not attack a reviewer. I happen to go there with friends. Your place is awful, as well as service, & quality of food is no worth your cash prices at all. Smokers hang around, not virus complying. Pretty sad you put me in a category, what category do you think your restaurant will be in, failing health code. This site is for reviews.

  • 1/5 diana b. 3 years ago on Google
Terrible. Food not cooked well.Eggs were cold. Tables dirty, Too cramped inside, servers were rude. Also, they only take cash. I will report the truth, if place does not like it, then they need to fix their problem. Not safe with virus, & my friends who also went will not go back

We have eaten here 4 or 5 times even tho they are a 45 minute drive from us. Worth the drive! They are a cash only business but have an on-site atm for convenience. I'm a regular here at this point, along with a friend of mine, and I've never had a bad experience. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive -- my usual waitress is Sera (whose name I hope I spelled correctly), and she's fantastic! I'm working my way down the menu, and EVERYTHING has been delicious thus far. My personal favorite is probably the spam and eggs, but I may run into a new favorite yet. Cash only isn't a problem, and their ATM doesn't even charge an extra fee for when I'm low on the dollars. Definitely recommended!

Not bad. Had a pretty good eggs Benedict with hash browns. I’ve had better eggs bene, but I can’t complain about it. The eggs were perfectly made. I don’t eat bacon and instead of taking it off she offered a replacement, I opted for mushrooms and I was appreciative of the choices given with no additional charges. Service was good and everyone was friendly. Be aware that they are a cash only establishment, though they do have free ATMs on the premise.

Delicious! My father-in-law was at the hospital nearby having surgery so we decided to find a place for breakfast. I, like many others, check reviews and this place had several recommendations. I can confirm they were not wrong! The food was delicious! The biscuits were homemade and big, not dry at all. The gravy was tasty! My husband ordered linguica sausage and eggs. He's super picky and loved it! The service was the additional piece that really makes this place worth it. The gentleman at the front was so kind and welcoming, our server was very friendly and on top of everything we needed. My mother-in-law even found some cute VW bus salt and pepper shakers for a gift! The atmosphere here is great and the staff is all wonderful. We live in Surprise and would no doubt make a trip back just for this place!

My friend and I stopped for a yummy breakfast, and we were not disappointed. The OJ was freshly made in front of us, the coffee was not "diner coffee" but real tasty coffee-house style coffee, the french toast tastes like funnel cakes, and the biscuits and gravy couldn't have been better. If I could give this place a 11/10, I would.

My husband ordered shrimp and grits, I ordered chicken breast smothered in sausage gravy served with a piece of French toast and eggs. Every bite was amazing! Our server was prompt, pleasant and attentive. We sat at the bar alone and watched sanitizing at each table. Great Experience!

Chicken fried chicken and the homemade French toast are my two favorites. If you are hungry the easy gory can feed two people. It’s our favorite breakfast place and well worth the wait. Get there before 10a.m to avoid the line.

Big menu! This is a fun place to visit. Definitely a hidden gem around this side of town. Food is good and creative. Their veggie hash with green chili sauce is delicious. This place is cash only, but the ATM inside does not charge a withdraw fee. Very happy to have a local breakfast joint like this nearby

Nice vibe. It was very busy, but we didnt have to wait long. The food was good.. The homade pop tarts were the best thing I had. My wifes lemon pancakes were good as well. My chilliquiles lacked spice and flavor. The customer service was 5 star, the place was very clean. Plus it is veteran owned. Overall a 4 star experience.

This place was incredible! My husband and I were looking for something new, out of the norm to do so we decided to find a new breakfast spot. I did a quick search for best breakfast in Phoenix and this popped up and was close to home. ...And it did not disappoint! Andrea was our waitress with phenomenal service from her and the rest of the staff. The decor was so cute and they really did their best to follow distancing guidelines but still be able to be a functioning small business restaurant. Our food was fantastic and I will be coming back to try the 5 other menu items I wanted. This place is cash only, but they have a "no fee" atm on-site. I appreciate the signage and explanation of why they made this decision. Definitely give this place a try!

It was good, eggs were done perfectly. Cash only I don't believe that breakfast for two plus tip should cost the better part of $50

Arriving at 11, my group only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table, despite the obvious business. Upon being seated, we were greeted by a super sweet waitress who quickly and accurately took our orders. The inside of the building is poorly lit, but very well decorated in a Hawaiian style. After ordering, it was a mere 10 minutes before we received our order. It was exactly as we asked for it, splitsies and all. The Cinnamon roll pancake was incredible, with sweetness, spice and a little bit of a crunch, which made for possibly the best pancake I've ever had. The chicken and waffles both were buttery and crisp, and paired together incredibly well. The french toast was certainly unique. It was a crunchy, fried piece of bread that tasted similar to a funnel cake. It was great, but far from what I expected. The spam and eggs were delicious and certainly a very Hawaiian dish. I had not expected them spam, eggs, rice and sauce to all play so we'll together. It was a delicious dish! All in all, we had an incredible brunch that was well worth the price and wait. In the future, I would prefer if the lighting was better, but that's really all I have to critique.

The food is good, but they do not accept cards (credit or debit), they have a ATM on site BUT IS $3 for the cash out... Make it more expensive and food is already not cheap at all.

This is one of our favorite valley breakfast joints! There's always a little wait on the weekends so only go if your party isn't already hangry. The fun decor matches it's fun employees and then there's the incredibly large menu. The owner has been in the restaurant biz for decades and it shows! We can only come here on cheat days since the portions are massive, also CASH ONLY, but they do have an atm onsite.

Great little spot! The food portions were generous and the variety was nice. If I am correct in saying this, they have a special menu that changes periodically. This time around it was New Orleans style, so I had the Jambalaya Hash and Eggs. One of the most flavorful breakfast dishes I've ever had, packed with house potatoes, chicken, andouille sausage, shrimp, Jambalaya sauce and your choice of eggs. Although I thoroughly enjoyed this dish, I personally would have like it better with rice rather then potatoes. Overall the people were friendly and it looked as if they have many regulars because they seem to recognize and know some of the guests that come in(both young and old). I would definitely recommend trying this place out.

Such a great place for a meal. The staff is always so welcoming and they don’t rush you out when you are there catching up with friends. The food is always great and the atmosphere is fresh. The salt and pepper shakers are adorable.

I could not say enough good things about this breakfast! It was very filling, the bananas foster French toast was amazingly good but SO rich. Like, if you like sweet things this is for you. Danielle was our server and she was superlative. Refills ahead of time, enthusiastic, very friendly. My boyfriend got a special of a hash that day and it was good as well. Really worth trying!

First restaurant I've been to that has fried french toast! Definitely reminded me of my childhood weekend breakfasts. Overall a great casual atmosphere with a Cali vibe and our waitress Molly was great. Definitely going back to try other dishes.

Really enjoyed the bayou shrimps and grits, delicious orange juice( I should have asked for a chilled glass though). Service was awesome. We waited about 20-25 minutes to be seated on a Saturday morning around 9a.m and that is amazing for a weekend time frame.

First time here. Super friendly attentive staff. Checked on us regularly. The menu options are great and the food was sooo delicious. I had the chilaquiles with chicken tinga. It was perfect with just a bit of spicy heat. My bf had the fried steak and eggs. It was good but not what he would describe as his favorite. Then we split a banana creme brulee oatmeal that was just the right amount of sweet. Edit addition.... came for our second time today 7/23/23 and again loved it. The wait was long but they had live entertainment to enjoy while we waited. I had the breakfast enchiladas mmmm. Our waitress Danielle was fantastic and efficient. Super on top of it and checked in often. Oh and perfect diner coffee with plenty of refills.

Overall the food was 'ok' but nothing we'd write home about. Things we liked: 1. Molly, our waitress, was amazing!! Took her time to explain the menu item and was knowledgeable about the items. 2. Cinnamon roll and Pop Tart 3. The coffee is perfect! Things that we didn't enjoy as much: 1. The fried French toast.... Not sure why it's fried, def doesn't add anything to the taste. 2. Speaking of taste, the chicken fried chicken breast, also fried, was dry and didn't have a strong flavor. 3. The chicken fried steak was flavorless. Standing alone it wasn't very good. 4. Warning ⚠️ The sausage gravy should state 'savory' because it's seasoned more like a dinner sausage gravy. It's not creamy or milky like a breakfast sausage gravy typically is. Long story short, good people, sweet treats but we won't be back. Glad we tried it!

Yesterday was the first time I’ve been able to go here because it’s very busy on the weekends but now I know why! It was out of this world. The Bananas Foster French Toast and the chicken fried chicken were the BEST I’ve ever had! So delicious! I also tried the Cinnamon Roll pancakes and we ordered the Cali Burrito. I will definitely be here again and this is by far the best breakfast option in the area! The waitress was amazing and super helpful as well! Don’t miss out on this place! :)
