Went in with high expectations but was disappointed. The food is okay, but with the price and the fact that it has to be reserved, I expect it to be better. Sushi: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fresh but was cut extremely thick, I feel like I’m not eating sushi but having sashimi instead. Not saying thick cuts are bad but authentic sushi rolls are not supposed to have thick cuts. Also the rice was poorly down it literally fell all over the place when I pick it up with chopstick. Oyster: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Again, fresh but small and was under expectation. The menu says it’s sweet but it was not at all, it was very briny actually. The sizes are very different too, as you can see in the picture, you get decent size ones and you get mini ones. Burger and pasta: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It was okay but again, under expectations. I feel like I can get these at other places, they are not bad but it could be better. Service and environment: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service was amazing. The waiter was very friendly and did a great job serving us. The place is pretty cool and they also have outdoor seating, but the noise level is high, would recommend going somewhere else if you like quiet places.

We decided to go to Buck and Rider during the week and we were so glad that we did. This place is always packed and the best time to go here is during the weekday around happy hour time. We ordered dozen oysters and we were impressed with the variety on their menu. We ended up sharing the king salmon nigiri, deluxe spicy tuna roll row, and seafood risotto. If you are looking for a great seafood experience in Scottsdale then this is the place to be. Great atmosphere, drinks, and food selections. Highly recommend for those that are looking for a fun time!

Greeted by a bonnie girl from Australia with a lovely accent, great start. Sat very quickly. I think our server might have been having a bad day as we got off to a short start, it improved quickly. The food was all fresh and delicious. The fish was a bit small but had a good flavor. The Cole slaw was amazing with a unique flavor that was fresh and enjoyable. The chips were fine, more American then British, meaning thin not thick. They did bring malt vinegar! The beignets were great and not great. Some were not cooked all through. The French toast was pretty good lots of fresh fruit. The sushi while fresh was a bit too new age for my tastes. It has fruit and or nuts. The prices were what you would expect for the type and quality. Overall a good experience.

This place is so cool! They really do the extra mile to make sure they don’t fit into the standard “surf and turf” equation. Food is amazing but the people are so genuine and the atmosphere is really very nice.

Great restaurant with tons of ambience. Classy but not snobby. We loved everything about this place except for the noise level. The wait staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Our dishes were delectable in pretty to the eye. It's no wonder so many folks love this place.

Wow! The food was awesome!!! We ordered a lot of items and they were all good. I got the 16oz ribeye and 1/2 a lobster and it was worth every penny. My wife got the Mary's Pam roasted chicken and it was also good. The staff was nice and the manager came to our table ans0d asked if everything was great. We had good service from starting from the valet, hostess, wait staff manager. Highly recommend. Please beware that you will have to valet park. Our 1st time there so we drive in and went all the way in the parking lot not knowing there is a 1 way. Had to back out and valet.

My boyfriend and I are visiting from Michigan. We wanted to have dinner to celebrate my birthday. I just stumbled upon Buck & Rider looking for suggestions online. We were so pleased with our dinner picks this evening. Everything was beyond phenomenal! Our server Shelby was super attentive, made great suggestions, and made sure everything was perfect. Not only was the service great, but the food was SO GOOD!!! The best salmon I have ever had. My only complaint is that I wish I didn’t live so far away 😂 thank you for the wonderful drinks, food, and dining experience. Truly a great night!!

We’ve been here before many times. Nevertheless, My taste buds still sing from every visit! Everything was simply decadent. After my meal, I was knocked into a food coma, as this the best part/compliment of any great meal! Always a great experience!

Very nice, upscale restaurant with good service. The food was good, but not spectacular, and for the price, I expected spectacular. The crab cakes were good but seemed to be missing something. The oysters were ok. The shrimp and lobster were very tasty. There was also an assortment of craft drinks on the menu. We tried a few, liked some, and didn't like some, but that is always the case with such things. I'd certainly go back and recommend everyone else give it a try.

I want to start off by saying I love this restaurant. The food and service are both great. I have been here many times and will continue to happily support this place. I ordered the Caesar salad with the add-on salmon (+$10). I had assumed the salmon would be a standard 4-6oz portion, but when my plate was set in front of me I was honestly speechless. Blink and you’d think it was a crouton. The photo has the cap of a hot sauce bottle for size reference. Really? I’m being generous with the rating because I love this place and have truly never had a bad experience but they have got to get it together with this joke of a salmon.

First visit. Had a late lunch at the bar and were treated very well by staff. Enjoyed watching the oyster shucking. Food was excellent...calamari, fish sandwich, crab cakes, and PEI oysters. Will go back again when in the area.

Another recommendation from our hotel concierge that was excellent. We arrived and immediately knew we were in for a special treat. The cars were stacked up for the valet with lines of people waiting out the door. It was a little intimidating at first but they had us seated right on time. The server was great, very informative and took the time to explain everything to these first time visitors. It was apparent that this is the place if you love oysters…we don’t. 😀 But we chose the chicken dish and the shrimp risotto. They were both excellent. This place has a lot of energy & a great vibe so I wouldn’t choose it for a quiet intimate dinner. We definitely enjoyed ourselves and will return.

I loved the service- the ladies love the food also Savannah and Molly were amazing, knowledgeable and great personalities !!! This was our first time at Buck and Rider and it came highly recommended by a coworker for the crab cakes. The crab is 100% crab meat and lightly breaded with scrumptious roasted carrots. The sauce yummy. The trout dip was fresh and delicious… Oh my goodness the lemon meringue pie was like a heavenly bonfire 🔥 I had the espresso martini so light and refreshing and my V had the Ace in the whole also delightful. A little expensive and small portions but worth it!!💕

We have been to this locations a few times. We enjoy the ambiance, great service and food. The sushi is always fresh and the other shareable plates have a good variety to choose from. Great selection of oysters from East and West Coast as well as the Buck n Rider from Alaska..crisp and briny. Other items we have tried are the crab cakes, brunch items, and everything is good. They make a really good espresso martini to top it all off with dessert.

Always a pleasure! Staff is excellent and well versed in their daily seafood offerings. Get a cocktail and fresh oysters to start. Brussel sprouts go with everything 😁

Fabulous place and Happy hour is best deal in town! We enjoyed every aspect of this restaurant: drinks, food, service and prices all are on spot. Definitely a place we recommend and will return to. Please check out my photos of the great food. The experience was deserving of a 5 out of 5 star review.

Food was amazing. Good recommendations from our waitress to try an old fashioned with a little sweeter taste. Forgot the name but it was good. We had oysters that were phenomenal but ate the too quickly to photograph. I will definitely be back. The shrimp scampi risotto was delicious!

Great seafood spot to hangout with friends. The restaurant was very spacious which made you feel very comfortable. Fish of the day always surprised me every time I go. Great service. One thing that can be better might be the asparagus. It would be great if they can peel the stalks to get rid of the hard part.

I went here with my family, group of 10, and they were so attentive and accommodating. We were going to be late for our reservation, so they let us push it back 1.5 hour, but we ended up showing up 30 minutes early. They let us get seated even though we showed up early. Our server was very nice and got everything we needed. There was a variety of food choices for everyone: pasta, French toast, sandwiches, steak, and seafood. The food was really good and fresh. It was my mom's boyfriend's birthday, so our server brought out our cake at the end of the meal and changed the board to say "Happy Birthday Richard!" She also gave him a box of macarons as a present from the restaurant and was able to split our checks into 5 different checks. Overall, the food, atmosphere, service and experience was great.

We had friends in town from Minneapolis and we really wanted to spoil them. We made reservations for 1100 brunch. Everything as usual was perfect. Our waiter was amazing and the staff were incredible. We opened with cocktails recommend smoked trout dip and #1 Ahi Tuna crispy rice appetizers and the shrimp and grits was my absolute must have. All in all excellent and memorable food and company.

First time and certainly not the last. Yes the prices are steep but the food is amazing. With that price you get an awesome atmosphere of live music and esthetic beauty of the restaurant. The most important part of the afternoon was the service, it was worth every dollar spent. From the runners and servers this place rocks. The highlight was Micha, our server, or I should say; "our culinary guide to an epicurean adventure". The food was perfect and Buck & Rider will do in there power to get what you want/like for your meal.

The shrimp appetizer was really good and cold like it should be. That gets a star. The Fish Tacos were also great and I really appreciated the extra cilantro. The salsa could have more of a kick but that's just me. The Fries were okay but the best part is the amount you get. Very generous! But the service was on point! The place was packed but the waiter did not forget anything was was back every few mins to check to see if we wanted anything. I hope that the whole wait staff operates that way. Fantastic!

This was our first time dining here and we came for my husband’s birthday. The place is beautiful, the service was excellent and the food was so delicious. They put a birthday message on the wall for my husband as well. We had a great time and we will definitely be back!

I had an incredible time at this location. The Salmon was cooked to perfection with an amazing blend of flavors, while the Seabass was incredibly fresh and flavorful. I also tried the garlic brócoli and cauliflower w sweet potatos which was amazing. On the other hand, I had for the first time “church music” beer and I was surprised on how good it tasted. The vibe and service were top-notch too, making it a definite go-to spot for fantastic seafood in Camelback Rd

Crab cakes were good but served lukewarm 👎. My ribeye was hot, juicy and delicious. Shrimp dish was skimpy, as was the pasta dish. Place is too dark for daytime dinning with all the blinds shut, nice fireplace, though. Their parking lot is valet only, with limited parking spots available at the building next door. Overall decent, though not great, nor a good enough value to return. Too many other better options.

Very good restaurant for seafood! We had the seafood platter as a starter and were very surprised by the high quality of oysters! Definitely the best ones I‘ve had in the valley so far! As a main course I had the Ahi Tuna salad, which was freshly made and of amazing quality. We also had some great cocktails. The staff was super friendly too and open for all questions. If you are a seafood-lover, highly recommended! There is also a complementary valet parking, which was super nice too!

Good place to go with friends. However this place is very noisy. We almost had to yell to have a conversation. Our service was excellent, very attentive without being overly hoovering. Food was wonderful to the taste. I had the pork ribs, flavorful yet a tad bit dry. My wife had the burger she said the same. The fries were fantastic and cooked to perfection. We had the Malbec that was also very good. The 3 others in our group were very satisfied with there food. The ceviche was well above average.

We came for happy hour which is the back section/oyster bar. I wish the front patio area was included in happy hour so I could bring my dog. We still had a lot of fun and would definitely come back!! The oysters were freshly shucked, yellowtail roll was delicious. Dessert is not on happy hour pricing but I highly recommend the banana cream pie.

Delicious! Definitely worth the splurge. Great happy hour deals. Highly recommend the ceviche. The steak was very good as were the scallops and shrimp. We were given complimentary macrons for Father’s Day. We got complimentary post cards on our way out. The parking is valet. Great experience overall.

Super fun for birthdays or special events. I would highly recommend reservations. It gets super crowded and it is a loud environment. I love that it decorated nicely and the food is fantastic. Everything I had I liked . Their chocolate cake tastes great! When I was there they didn’t have everything in stock.

Fantastic! Come hungry and try several things. An amazing fresh seafood list and unlimited preparations. The service staff is efficient, knowledgeable and will make great suggestions, so make sure you ask. The food is fresh as can be and the preparation and presentations were flawless. I don't know why I waited so log to try this place, but I will be back frequently. WE tried all the oysters, caviar, and shared four of the fresh catch items and added all the veg options and some voodoo fried rice. Wow is all I have left to say. Just check out the pics.

The service was incredible for how crazy busy it was (Oyster Day) They were clearly well trained. The oysters were fresh and sooo good. I couldn't help myself I had to get the shrimp ceviche and I was not disappointed. The drinks had so much flavor. The Bobby Love surprised me. I took the lemon meringue to go since I was stuffed with oysters. It was huge and decadent! 10/10 would go again and again!!

I took my wife to lunch here for our first time today. I ordered the famous fish sandwich and she got the fish tacos. Going in I had pretty high expectations. The famous fish sandwich was a small sandwich and didn't have much flavor. The fish tacos were also small and honestly not very good. The food left alot to be desired especially at this price point. The inside of the restaurant was very nice so I'm giving it 2 stars.

  • 5/5 Mike M. 2 years ago on Google
I was unsure when we arrived and wanted a table to be told it was an hour wait. At 58, I've never waited an hour for a table in my life. It was well worth it. The staff outside were absolutely on top of it. Inside staff were on point as well. Extremely professional, friendly, and just killing it throughout our entire visit during what was one of their busiest nights ever. The food was fantastic, quick and photo-worthy and the restaurant is beautiful, comfortable and very well-managed. Kudos to the kitchen staff who undoubtedly make the Head Chef proud. Call ahead if possible to reduce or eliminate your wait time and if you show up without a reservation, just know that the wait is worth it. Make sure you order their dinner rolls. They come in hot and are really good.

I went on a date here. Wanted to try fresh seafood in the desert so got the Papago platter. My date went with the crab cake. Both were delicious. The oyster tasted fresh and slurpable. Crab meat was really yum. But the real winner for me was the horseradish sauce. OMG. Everyone kept saying it was hot, and yes it will clear your nose out. The cocktail sauce had a nice kick because the horseradish was in it. The tuna tartare was also good and I never had it before. Lemon meringue pie was good I should have gotten another. The valet was nice and got my phone when I left it in the car. Happy hour you need to sit at the bar so no reservations. It's dumb. But all in all a nice place. Great service. I will be back.

Had a wonderful birthday dinner! Food was great the only thing I would say is they really tried to rush our entrees out which was a bit annoying. We literally had half of of appetizers and both salads on the table when they tried bringing our entrees. Poor food timing but other than that food was fantastic!
