Very well maintained trail, total 1.75 miles one way. There is a slight estension of the trail at the end that leads to a quiet road if you need to walk/run further before turning around. I would say this hike is good for anyone, really. Just go at your own pace. The trail is generally smooth and the inclines and declines have convenient steps to hold your footing. Be careful of other hikers as the trail can be narrow sometimes and the drop from the edge somewhat steep. I saw families, the elderly, and everything in between rocking the trail. Beautiful views as well.

Beautiful scenery and an even better hiking trail! Not to challenging if a hike, the elevation changes are always the most challenging part in my opinion. Glad we went earlier in the morning when it was nice and cool. I’d imagine it gets quite hot. Beautiful landscape and more Cacti than you can count! So much diverse wildlife! love how they have educational tidbits as you walk!

Pinnacle Peak is phenomenal. I lived nearby here for many years and did not realize the beauty that was right next to me. It is a very short and simple hike to the top of the peak, which isn’t actually really the top. They do not let you go all the way to the top, but it is still well worth it. Most hikers of any level or age would be able to handle this quite easily. I highly recommend it the views will not disappoint.

Only 4 stars because we were expecting a little more than just a 1 mile high walk. Having said that, it was great training for my 2 yr old. He hiked all the way from the peak and down across the other mountain attached to pinnacle peak. We loved the informative placards placed around. It was a very trim and easy peasy trail. Completed with my 2 yr old and 1 yr old (carried).

What a great hike in North Scottsdale. Well marked trail with 2 look out spots along the way. I am an avid hiker and it takes about 1 hour in and out. Most people probably it would take 1.5 hours. Hike up and over 2 peaks and they same trail on the way back. Sometimes crowded avoid peak times. Beautiful early in the morning or right before closing. Bathrooms and water on site. They also do a great calendar with photos taken from the area. Highly reccomend this trail for a nature break. Next door to the four seasons resort. Points of interest are marked along the trail. Guided tours are also available with the amazing staff at pinnacle peak trail.

Beautiful hike! The trail is very walkable. About four miles, but most of it isn’t very steep. The views are stunning and you feel like you’re in the desert. If you don’t want to see other people I’d recommend going early.

Beautiful hiking trail. Close to the city but it feels like you're far out in town. Amazing view of the valley! Fantastic cacti shapes. We hiked in the fall, nice and cool. They close early during this time. It opens at 6:45 AM and closes at 5:30 PM. It takes half an hour from the visitor center to the highest point. Or it depends on your hiking speed. Easy to hike!⛰️🥾🌵🏜️

Really enjoyed my hike at Pinnacle Peak Trail, Scottsdale, AZ today. The total distance is just under 4 miles out and back. I started mid morning when the temp had already reached 90 degrees... By the time I got back to the car ~ 2,5 hrs later, I was *fn exhausted! Note: it's a well maintained trail, with a great view of a beautiful desert terrain. Also there are distance signs every quarter mile so that you know how far you've hiked. Highly recommend Pinnacle Peak Trail for an easy/moderate hike.

This place is great. The trails are well maintained and the view is to die for!! The path goes for almost 2 miles. Well worth the walk. Tip..... even on cool days make sure you have water! Can not stress that enough!

Don't come here if you want to have fun. It is full of elder folks that yell at you for anything they can. Very nice place except there is a lot of rules and volunteers that enforce them.

Pinnacle Peak Park is the most well maintained trail I have ever seen in the Valley, they have many signs teaching you about the local flora and fauna. It is an easy hike to the top, if you go in the afternoon you will be shaded from the sun on the east facing side.

My all time favorite hike. Seem to always run into friends. Love it! Always help tourist take their photos. A good workout with close to 4 miles if you run all the way to gate. Fun to run, but caution to the several other hikers. Near Four Seasons Resort. Enjoy!

What a beautiful hike! We got to the trail head around 6:30. It took us about an hour and a half to do the hike. The part going went really well for me but man did coming back take its toll on me! Lol I'm not a hiker so I struggled a bit but I made it and would do it again!

One of the best parks in the area relatively not that far from desert ridge, located by the end of the neighborhood. When weather is okay, visibility is endless and can observe the far ends of the Valley of the Sun. I would recommend to come equipped with 2-3 litres per person, and the rest will follow.

Trail is pretty easy and lame. If youre out of shape this is a good place to start I guess. Something I didn't like is that the trail spans 2 miles over 2 different mountains, and then literally just ends. Then you just go back the way you came. Took about 10,000 steps or so.

The 3.65 mile hike was very challenging. Multiple uphill and downhill sections the whole way. Pace yourself and you will make it. Since it is an out and back trail know it will take over 2 hours with rest times. No facilities on the trail.

My time at Pinnacle Peak Park was incredible. The hiking trail was well-marked, and the views at the top were breathtaking. It's a great place to connect with nature and get some exercise. Plus, the desert landscape is stunning. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves the outdoors!

Perfect hike! Just the right level of difficulty for beginner to slightly more advanced - we saw every level of hikers along the way. The views are outstanding with several amazing outlook/rest stops along the way. The trail is one way out/back. Clean bathrooms and water available at trailhead. Great park guides there as well.

Beautiful hike, the quality of the trek and maintenance make this a top destination. In addition there are many signs explaining the eco system , cacti and other items in route. Highly recommended

Expected more, like a hike to a peak on a mountain | hill... but all in all you find amazing views. It is not really exhausting, you don't need extra shape, but bring good shoes with you.

  • 5/5 Dean B. 4 years ago on Google
Great hike for a beginner and the family. No water points other than the trailhead. Great views, one trail but wish they would go to the top on the west mountain as a secondary trail.

Good hike, nice views out is an out and back trail. Depending on fitness level it would be a easy/moderate hike. You are in the sun so plan accordingly with water.

Great hike! Loved the place. 2 miles out and 2 miles back and fairly strenuous. I burned 958 calories and Garmin watch said it was a little over 100 flights of stairs equivalent!

Pinnacle Peak is a beautiful centerpiece to the North Scottsdale and Troon North areas. Actually one of the main reasons I moved up here. I am also a local Realtor in the area if you have questions. The hike is as challenging as you want to make it, the trail is smooth which is beneficial to not turn your ankles on loose rocks. Beautiful views are everywhere. I have taken thousands of photos over the years. Here are just a few.

Gorgeous! Clean washrooms. Great places to sit at the bottom of the trail and watch people climbing up and down. My friends really enjoyed their hike to the top and back down: a very busy trail. For me (I have mobility issues and don't hike) it was easy to do a bit of the bottom of the trail (wide and fairly flat) and view all the saguaro cactus and other desert vegetation. If you are lucky, you may see some mule deer: I did!

Stunningly beautiful hiking trail for the whole family. Trail is well maintained and taken care of.

  • 5/5 Alnoor S. 1 year ago on Google
Even though it says it is a moderate effort hike, it is in my opinion in some areas hard, especially the stairs coming back! Totally doable if taken slow. Some people run the whole 3k+ and back in 40 minutes. You need good endurance and good knees and definitely good traction runners. Dec and January, temperatures early morning can dip close to freezing on the northside of mountain and with some wind chill factor. Else, it is an amazing hike, at times too busy!. Great views and if you do it, you won’t regret! so buckle up and get moving!

A nice trail for an outdoor stroll or run. I would love to have a trail like this near me so I could go running without having to drive somewhere far. It’s well paved and doable for all ages and shoes! I did this in the rain and there was a point on the trail where the wind was so strong I just decided to go back down to my car. Wish I had gone past that point though!

Great hike, but go early, the sun is no joke and there isn't a lot of shade once the sun reaches over the peak!!

If you are looking for a beautiful, easy and well maintained hiking trail, Pinnacle Peak Park is the place for you. The scenery is absolutely beautiful with tons of IG pic moments. The trails are wide and safe. They have volunteers that walk the trails with extra water and to ensure that visitors are safe.

  • 5/5 Nathan S. 1 year ago on Google
Good moderate trail. The only particularly challenging part is the back side, and if you go all the way down. Make it a little extra fun by throwing a rucksack on. Weekends are usually pretty packed and the whole "walk single file" thing seems to be written in ancient Sumerian as the flocks of pumpkin spice (fall/winter only) walk shoulder to shoulder like an army of Spartans. Not a hike for flip flops (I've seen it!) - wear good, stable shoes, particularly if you are going anywhere beyond the highest point sign (which is seemingly ironically the super easy part).

  • 5/5 Ray H. 1 year ago on Google
What an amazing hike, especially accessible if you are staying at the Four Seasons Resort. This is a very easy hike accessible to most who are interested in a walk uphill. There is much Beauty to see especially when the cacti are in bloom! Keep a lookout for hidden lizards and other wildlife while hiking through this park.

This was a nice hike. It was moderate to difficult. A lot of climbing up "steps" to get those calves working. Finished in about 2 hours. Very easy trail to follow. I recommend starting around 5:45 if going in the summer to avoid the heat as the heat can drain you as you are coming back. Also, there are not many people at that time as it can get a bit crowded.

This view of Pinnacle Peak is actually taken from the Tom’s Thumb trail. From here you can see much of the surrounding landscape and neighborhoods. Pinnacle Peak Park is a local park operated by the city of Scottsdale. It sits further north about 30 minutes from the more central areas of Scottsdale. Nevertheless, it is surrounded by several very nice neighborhoods such as DC Ranch so it is also cool to see some of the extravagant houses along the way. The trail to the top of the peak is 1.75 MI (2.8 KM) one-way via an out-and-back trail so the total round trip is 3.5 miles (5.6 KM). The park also offers some places where you can rock climb as well as places to stop along the way. Because much of these trails and parks are operated by the city and surrounding neighborhoods they are well-kept and offer several options to get outdoors and explore. The nearby McDowell Mountains provide additional opportunities to bike, ride horses, and hike. One of the most popular trails there is the Tom’s Thumb trail so you can easily access to popular trails within a day. - @wanderingwithustwo

Pretty with awesome views, trails of various lengths from flat and easy to steep and difficult. Lovely time to go in the spring but can't imagine hiking in the summer unless you're in good health. This saguaro is young at about 60 years!

Good hike but it's a one way trail. Your get a good workout. The trail is narrow in some spots. Views are gorgeous along the way. Bring water and be sure to drink along the way. Only got up to the owls nest area then turned around. Very busy on the trail in February.
