Ugh…. sometimes it feels like this dog park is closed more than it is open. They really ought to put closures up on their website so it can be checked before making the drive. Today is November 9, FYI sign says it should be reopen November 21. Aside from that the dog park is centrally located and we’ve always enjoyed going when it is open

I'm starting to learn to enjoy this place with my dog. She really likes the doggy park, though it is small and after about 30-45 minutes it can become boring. But there is plenty of space for walking the dog if your dog is like mine, and loves walking. As the weather warm up, it is nice to see lots of people just chilling, enjoying family and friends, children playing, and dogs having fun. It is a delightful atmosphere. People are disturbed by the homeless, and yes it is a true a few of them do not use the garbage as they should, but most of them do not bother anyone. They are usually with their own friends, chilling or catching up on sleep. Some are definitely doing drugs so I caution all to keep an eye on their children's play area for needles. Also, NEVER send your little children to the bathroom by themselves! ALWAYS GO INSIDE WITH THEM! I see this way too often and I never deem that safe because perves of that sort go where children are. And sad to say, it is not always the homeless but sometimes those that seem to "fit in" with the crowd. This is not to set fear or worry any parent but rather, a note of caution. Other than that, it is a lovely spot to visit and the best time is now, before it gets really hot. I dare say until the end of April is lovely time to go there.

Too many Millennial weirdos. Too busy talking to each other or texting and not picking up after their dogs. Also, some Chicago newbie brought his small dog into the big dog section and shooed my dog away constantly. Go back to Chicago! We don't like you.

Abundance of space for all dogs to run, it's open for long hours. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 it's because the water for dogs is not working properly. (FYI park it's closed until June 27 '22) "Annual Turf Renovation Project The Hance Park Dog Parks will be closed for annual turf renovation starting May 9 and will reopen on June 27"

Very nice, albeit not extremely large, dog park. The park is located in central Phoenix, in a very scenic area with lots of green grass, rolling hills and mature trees. The park itself is set up pretty nicely. There are actually two separate / enclosed areas: one for smaller breeds, and one for medium to large sized breeds. We have a German Shepherd and American Bully, so we've only experienced the area for larger breeds. Overall, the interior of the park is well kept and generally clean. There's a dog friendly drinking fountain that comes in handy, especially in the heat. One thing I definitely like about this park, especially compared to other dog parks in the valley, are the dog owners / pet parents. Specifically their attentiveness and involvement with their dogs. I've been to a few dog parks where people enter the park, let their dogs off the leash, then sit down and socialize, completely ignoring their dog. In most cases this is fine. However when the person has an unruly dog (or at least one that does a lot of aggressive-ish rough housing) this approach is unfair to others. In the half dozen times I've visited this park, this hasn't been an issue at all. Respect. Keep in mind, because it's a nice park in a perfect location, it tends to get pretty busy. And because the actual enclosed dog park areas aren't overly large, it can be crowded. As long as that isn't a deal breaker for you, I'd definitely recommend this dog park.

Great park when actually open! Hours are listed as 6:30am-9:00pm, but it is rarely open in the morning. It’s 9:30am right now and the dog park is still locked.

Why is there a dog park here. It is closed during the spring and the fall and most of the winter, sometimes it is also close in the summer I believe the city opens it for about a week in March. City of Phoenix use that area for something else because it is not being used for anything. Other than that I would give 5 stars.

Hance Dog Park is probably the nicest dog park I’ve been too. They maintain the grass there and there’s literally no dirt in the small dog park. Would recommend this park to anyone!

This park is closed multiple times per year (during some of the best weather), has little shade and practically zero lighting. Really sad that a city this size doesn't have a better dog park option downtown.

Sometimes it can get a bit crowded, but I haven't had any problems with the dog owners here in the dozens of times I've been here, which is really hit or miss depending on the park. Spacious enough, well maintained.

Only downside is that it can get pretty soggy after the rain, but that's to be expected in a climate that doesn't see much rain. Good sized park, different fenced areas for larger or smaller dogs. Usually pretty polite dogs and attentive owners

  • 5/5 Tanner G. 3 years ago on Google
Great park. Favorite in the city by far! Big enough for dogs to really run around. Owners are more attentive to their dogs actions. Great grass without burrs. There’s not as many forgotten dog poop piles. It can get slightly loud with I-10 traffic.

Nice big open space for dogs to roam and play. Just reopened after renovations and maintenance. Took off 1 star because they don't provide doggie bags and people do not seem to clean up after there dogs.

Nice park to bring the dogs. There are two sections one for the little dogs and one for the big dogs. Came here around 630 there wasnt really alot of people nor dogs maybe because it was darker . .. The park seemed nice though pretty big and well maintained. Nice to come here and take a walk and possibly grill a bit.

I absolutely LOVE this dog park. It is one of the few in the downtown Phoenix area that not only has grass, but GREEN grass (as opposed to a dirt lot). This park feature two separate, fenced in dog parks. A large one for bigger dogs, and a medium sized one for smaller dogs. The people are friendly, and the park is very well maintained. It is truly the best.

This is an awesome park for the downtown area! A small dog yard as well as a big dog yard on opposite sides of the parking lot. Nice thick grass (although it makes it hard to find those chocolate eggs lol), benches, shade tree, water for the dogs. Friendly people and dogs when we visited. Definitely a dog park to revisit!

Park? GREAT humans? Some not great at all.. Always a great experience coming here until today when some “bougi” people want to tell us to leave because our dog is not trained. Keep in mind they have some bougi frenchies who continue to come up to my dog and they are small breed in the large dog are. Humans are seriously the worst when they think they're better than others. Got money? Maybe build YOUR OWN dog park and maybe TRAIN your dog to keep away from dogs like mine who are not trained. 😂

Awesome little dog park near downtown. My doggo Smiley seems to enjoy his time here. I haven't had a bad experience with a dog or owners. The dogs here seem well socialized. It's really small. So it can get crowded really quick. There's a water fountain for humans and dogs and a picnic table. There's not much shade so it's recommended to visit in evening during the hot summer months.

  • 5/5 Mars B. 8 months ago on Google
Easy going simple set up. During the week it's a quick and easy place to take your dog to let loose a bit and use the restroom, bags are also provided there, with a water faucet available, but you may want to bring your own portable water bowls. There's no size limitation, and aggressive dogs are discouraged from entry while others are there.

Omg this is the dog park to go to! Many friendly dogs, decent people to chat with, double-fenced for safety, and even offers 2 dog parks (1 on either end of the parking lot) for small dogs and for bigger dogs. And there's GRASS!! DEF a good find and may be replacing my regular spot at Indian Steele, which seems to either be closed or muddy or with less responsible owners (my dog was attacked there the last time I was there and we had to go to the emergency vet immediately, without any sort of responsibility or ownership taken by the owner of the dog in question). Looking forward to our next trip as the weather cools! :)

Love this dog park! There is a little dog side & a big dog side, on opposite ends of the parking; which is fabulous bc then the dogs aren't side by side like some other dog parks. There's a double gate area for mitigating escapees, water fountain for humans & pups, & decent seating. Also a basket attached to the inside fence for keeping balls & extra poop bags. The trash can inside the small dog park side was actually incredibly clean. Minimal muddy areas, & lots of good grass. Definitely making this dog park a part of my doggy routine!

This is a very neat dog park area. There are 2 sections spaced about a good 200 (?) meters apart. One is for large dogs and the other is for smaller dogs. They are both sturdily fenced. There is plenty of green grass and even a sandy area for the dogs to run on. The dogs all seemed very happy and energized. I also saw a bench for the owners to sit on...(I wish they had more resting areas). There also really wasn't much in terms of shade either.

  • 5/5 Sunny B. 4 years ago on Google

Great little park in Downtown Phoenix. Split large dog / small dog space with an intervening parking lot helps keep littles safe. Nicely maintained green areas with space to run, roll, and play.

  • 4/5 Monsieur A. 3 years ago on Google
Nice park, friendly dogs and people. Annoyingly long resurfacing periods that are typically closed for too long and over watered upon reopening and is quickly torn up within the first 10-14 days that justifies that park being closed for months...

First dog park that we ever visited and it's one of the best ones so far. They recently (7/2020) updated the grass and my dog loves it. There are still some areas that need work so they are fenced in. Dog water fountain sometimes gets clogged but works. Dog parents, PLEASE pick up after your furkid! Bring your own poop bags and if you forget, there's a poop scooper, USE IT!

  • 5/5 Niles G. 3 years ago on Google

  • 5/5 James M. 3 years ago on Google
Awesome park. There is a bunch of new healthy grass as of 07/2020. Plenty of room for off leash fun. Always other dogs here. The water spicket in the big dog park doesn't flow so much as dribble. Usually someone leaves a modified tupaware there that helps the dribbling water be drinkable for the dogs. Overall 5/5

I went here during the later hours so it wouldn’t be too busy but I would advise people to not stop by after dusk. There’s very little lights on when the sun goes down even tho it’s open until 9pm. So playing fetch or really doing anything is restricted due to not really seeing anything with the lights so dim. Plus there were only sketchy people around. A lady with her dog even asked my sister and I if we had any extra cash we could give her... a couple of homeless people around the area. Not particularly safe to go alone at night. I also could not find any doggie poop bags... not sure if it’s because it was dark out or the park doesn’t provide any.. luckily we brought one of our bags with so we were able to clean up after our dogs.
