wish I could leave a zero. do not stay here. clearly ownership and management do not care about this place anymore. this place used to be luxurious. that is no longer the case. not even close. room was obviously not cleaned in the slightest. absolutely disgusting. nobody seems to care when they are told about it. I got an "ok". lipstick mouth prints all over the shower. visible pubic hairs in multiple places. forget about their breakfast. used to have all kinds of breakfast items. like eggs, bacon, sausage. etc. none of that was available. but prices do not reflect this downgrade. been a loyal customer since 2002. stayed there 2 years ago. it was definitely going downhill then. but now, it's too far gone. I will never stay there again...I

I booked a night for a birthday/ anniversary. It was a diamond package in the Emperor Room. Unfortunately we were running behind in the beginning of the night and we didn't notice most of these issues until the next morning. Wet bar sink was loose and popped out. Walls were bubbled and scrapped. Bed skirt was ripped. Missing screws from switch plates. We couldn't use the jacuzzi tub due to the timer switch not being functional (it wouldn't stay locked for the jets to run) The table in the room was water stained and marked up. (It's a $280/night room. I truly expect more) Rubber trim in the bathroom was half off of the wall. We decided to check out earlier than we wanted due to not being able to use one of the main features of room. It was mentioned to the front desk, they removed 50 dollars from the bill. I avoid being confrontational, so didn't ask for more. I feel like others should be aware of room conditions prior to booking!

If it were just about the customer service and friendliness of the staff, this place would get 5 stars. The decor (though quite dated) is beautiful for an airport hotel, so that gets a plus too. The room was clean and the jacuzzi tub an unexpected bonus. The price was pretty competitive for the area. But there were some serious challenges. The mattress was so old that the springs creaked every time you moved and it sagged terribly. For some reason, they pipe 80s rock ballads throughout the hotel all day until just after 10pm every night - loud enough that you can hear the lyrics clearly inside your room. So, if you've got an early morning flight, forget going to sleep early - especially when other guests who have had too much to drink already start singing along as they walk down the hallway. And while there is a Keurig with a selection of coffee and tea, there are no cups, creamers, sugar, etc. Nor water glasses to go with the ice bucket. I asked at the desk, and they said they don't provide those things?!?! It was also inconvenient to not have a clock in the room. While I typically use my phone for an alarm, it's nice to see what time it is easily when I wake at night.

My husband and I stayed at the Garden Place hotel while in Buffalo for the funeral of my husband's eldest brother...his best friend on 12/18/21. We stayed in rm 138. The Garden Place used to be known for its beauty, decor and pleasant employees, but our last experience changed our opinions. The outside of the hotel and interior decor is still wonderful, but the rooms are dated. After this stay at Garden Place, we said we will NOT be back! The room was dated (fact), but we got locked out of our room the day of the funeral! We came back after the funeral to change and get something to eat. We were to leave at 4 am to travel back home for work. When we arrived we couldn't get back in our room. My husband advised the front desk guy who gave him different keys (that still didn't work). When my husband asked if there was a different room to stay in, the desk clerk was very nasty with him and said "we don't have any rooms available!" without checking or asking if we were in a king or double room. My husband was livid and rightly so. We had to wait until the maintenance person came at 11p who had the master key and even he couldn't get the room open. But he showed more kindness and tact than the large young man at the desk. He offered a room after he had to break in the room with a crowbar. We were exhausted and would have to move all of our stuff. We reluctantly stayed in the room and placed the ironing board in front of the door in case someone tried to enter since it wasn't really secure. We ended up leaving about 11am due to the events and were not compensated for the inconvenience or apologized to. What happened to customer service???!!!

This hotel is great. But I only give it two stars here is why. 1. The decorations are awesome it is so fancy and cool I loved the decorations that is 5 stars for sure. 2. However nice the decorations were they were incredibly old in desperate need of an update. They were deteriorating and falling apart. This had to have been done in the 70's or 80's and would have been amazing then. 3. The floors were dirty. My room and bathroom were clean and in good condition but the floors were dirty I will be including pictures. They need to replace the carpet in the entire hotel. 4. They didn't include breakfast I stayed here for 5 nights and I only got a slight discount on the breakfast. 5. The coffee in the lobby was weak so I had to buy coffee each day I must have spent $30 on coffee. Overall it was nice but a few upgrades and it could be great.

The room was clean, but some of the furniture and walls were damaged with scratches/holes and water damage. The upholstered chair was old, cheap, and wobbly and had lost its cushioning. It was very uncomfortable to try and use it as a desk chair—upon sitting I dropped into the wooden frame. Even a simple metal folding chair would have sufficed and done the job. The toilet flapper was leaking, so there was a ghost flush every 20 min or so. The bed only had extra thick pillows, so I slept flat on the mattress without a pillow. I've stayed in cheap motels and this was comparable. It wasn't horrible, but their prices don't reflect the quality level. Cleanliness is my top concern—I'm glad the room was at least clean. The lobby and hallways are entertainingly kitschy and overdecorated, which was fun. However, no amount of gilded decoration, classical music, and crystal chandeliers can make up for problems with basic needs in the rooms. Staff were mockingly insincere and claimed that they already knew about each problem in the room and that someone was going to fix these things soon, despite the fact that many of these problems took years to accumulate.

I was so excited to stay at this nostalgic hotel since I was a kid. The lobby and "promenade" style are so cool but unfortunately I will never book a room here again. We splurged for the Executive King Honeymoon Suite for the weekend. The mattress is so old and full of springs, it sinks to the middle and now I have a horrible low back ache and could barely sleep. What was supposed to be a fun relaxing weekend is now going home exhausted and in pain. For $400 I expected a nicer mattress. The room itself is alright, definitely outdated and needs more thorough cleaning. Our sheets have small rips in them, baseboards are all scuffed black and dirty. The shower is HUGE with not one shelf to place anything, so you have to keep holding a bar of soap and find a place to put it outside the bathroom. The rear door which we used since it was closest to our room has a broken key lock so anyone can enter the hotel at any time of the night through the back stairwell which makes it uncomfortable. Very disappointed and will not be returning.

Booked a package as a birthday gift for myself. I am a person that likes to do their research and look a photos. When I searched The Garden Place Hotel and the rooms, there was one room that stood out the most to me. The room is called “The Emperor’s Suite”, when I tell you the picture are beautiful and the room is gorgeous. I called the front desk and asked if I could book the room on the website. The person was awesome, booked the in advance. My birthday weekend arrive, went to the front desk and got the room key. I was super excited to see and stay in this beautiful room that is advertised on the website. I get to the room door and giggle with excitement because on the door it says “Emperor Suite”. I unlock the door, pushed it open and stepped in the room with disappointment. The room that I got was not the room I booked. Looked around the room for a phone and there was none. Had to use my cellphone to call the front desk and report the two issues. The young man that answered the phone apologized for there not being a phone in the room, and that someone will contact me regarding the room issue (FYI: No one called or emailed me during my three day stay at the hotel). The next day my husband and I went downstairs to the lobby for breakfast, at this moment is when I saw the room that is advertised on the website and the one I booked located on the 1st floor. I looked at my husband and told him that this was the room we was supposed to get. I walked to the front desk where I meet Nick and informed him of my issue. Once again I was told that someone would contact me regarding this issue. I tried to make the most of my birthday weekend and not let the room bother me too much. My issue is that no one contacted me during or after my stay, I called several times after I left as well. I tried to be nice but proof is in the photos and on what they advertised online. My room had mirrors, not a glamorous room. You be the judge.

This is definitely a "unique" hotel with eccentric decor out of the 1970s. The good: it was fairly clean, though the carpet is definitely old and worn. The bed was fairly comfortable with a soft comforter and big pillows. Service was good at checkin. Unfortunately the rooms seem very inconsistent - ours had barely any furniture (just one chair, a small desk, and an odd circular end table) but our friends had a room across the hall and they had a loveseat, extra chair, larger desk, and coffee table. (But their loveseat was inexplicably covered in dog hair when we arrived despite the hotel having a no pets policy...??) Our room clearly had a Jacuzzi tub at some point - it would have been right next to the bed - but that had been removed. The bright overhead lights remained. They were on when we arrived, as was the TV for some reason. At bedtime we couldn't find the switch to turn them off. We searched for 20 mins and then called the front desk, who said they'd send someone down. We got out of bed, got dressed again, and waited. She arrived 15 mins later and spent another 15 mins looking for the switch herself while talking constantly (seemingly to herself) and pacing restlessly. She made three phone calls to try and get help, and eventually I overheard her say "next to the headboard?" and then I finally located the stripped slider switch behind a lampshade that was pressed against the wall. It's 12:30am at this point but the staff member lingered in our room continually talking rapidly and assuring *us* that it was okay (???) until I loudly asked her to please leave so we could finally go to sleep. Things that didn't work: the air conditioner's fan speed controls and "always on" setting did nothing, and the shower control had a bizarre push-button panel that didn't seem to have any effect on the water temperature. The mini-fridge made a loud high-pitched squealing noise until we unplugged it. Oh, and the coffeemaker still had wet, used grounds in it (despite the room providing K-cups instead of ground coffee??) from the previous occupant that housekeeping didn't clean out. All in all I was fine with the eccentric and ostentatious decor - that can be kind of fun in a kitschy way - but unfortunately the odd room features, housekeeping oversights, and lack of upkeep don't do this place any favors. Thankfully we got a good deal through a third party site and only paid about $90 for the night; I wouldn't pay more for the standard room if you can help it.

This place has a lovely unique vintage charm. Stayed in the king room with jacuzzi. Don’t let a lot of the bad reviews scare you. Yes it’s a lil old and the furniture is dated but that’s what I love. If u want a boring hotel go somewhere else. Sure the carpets old and there was some random stains on the wall in our room. But I can overlook that. No weird smells in our room which can be an issue with these types of places. I would stay here again I think it’s gorgeous. Our bed was very soft and squishy but we slept great. Jacuzzi worked fine as well. The lady at the front desk was very nice. we did not try the breakfast.

The atmosphere is astounding, just walking through the front door one is wowed. The staff that checked us in were more than friendly and welcoming, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Our room was clean, tidy and incredibly reasonable for a jacuzzi suite. The continental breakfast options were plentiful, with cereal, bagels, omelets upon request, french toast sticks, English muffins and toast. The jets did not work in the jacuzzi and the shower was difficult to operate however these were mini inconveniences that did not detract from the overall quality of the stay.

Very beautiful hotel. Shuttle service is a great perk. Breakfast is very good too. Friendly workers. Room is very clean. A couple things though, the bar/lounge isn't always open when the website says it is and the bathroom sink drains exceedingly slow, air conditioning is a little loud. But, All in all absolutely love it!!

This was a hidden gem of a hotel, super chic and lovely. Check-in was smooth and effortless after travelling the whole day. Our receptionist Britney was exceptional. She deserves her own star for her attention to detail, and that set the scene. Our first room was lovely until the shower had a mind of its own, and after repeated efforts to make the shower head stop dripping. So I phoned reception and told her of our problem and to 10-15 minutes later she duly arrived, and she took care of our problem effortlessly by upgrading us to a better room. Super comfortable beds, and all the amenities you need. I didn't get to check out more of this hotel, but rest assured that next time I am in western New York state and at this establishment, I will explore more. Thank you most personally for making my 45th birthday celebration so special guys.

Rather disappointed. We paid a fair price for an upgraded room with jacuzzi tub. Everything about the room was worn out. Te carpet was stained, dressers/furniture beat up. Room was marginally clean. The 1980s digital shower controls were a treat too. Half the numbers didn’t illuminate and there was a bit of a learning curve to make it hot. Shower had lots of mold between tiles. We debated about using the tub because it still had pockets of water in it from the last use prior to us. Then to top it off we had a nice view of garbage out the window! My concerns were briefly mentioned at the desk to which the reply was “they’re renovating some rooms (not this one I guess). I emailed them a few days later and got no response. It probably was really nice in its heyday but it seems that has passed.

It’s really pretty and comfy, if you booked it with time a head it’s cheaper. it’s a bit old and sometimes the appliances don’t work correctly, however they’ll give another room without a problem. It’d be a 5 stars form but the breakfast it’s not good at all.

I really like that the hotel is goofy and tacky, it definitely has character that made it fun to stay in. The staff that cleaned rooms and set out breakfast were fantastic people. Other than that our stay was a struggle each day, and mainly due to the front desk staff. They were slow. They were rude. Just about everyone had trouble checking in on time. Rooms weren't ready and there was not effort to be polite about it. And after we left (we had a block with the hotel) I found out the front desk staff was talking about our guests to other guests as they were checking in/out for their stay. We also had multiple problems with billing. We got over charged multiple times, so did our guests. Unless they make adjustments to their front desk staff and their operation, I would not recommend staying here.

I stay at a lot of hotels for work, 4 and 5 star hotels, this was for personal use so I wanted less expensive.....but I was pleasantly surprised! In many ways it was better than the expensive hotels. Most notable (and important) was that it is one of the cleanest. Decor is a bit over the top but was fun For me and my son. Don't let the lower prices scare you away this is worth more. Hope to stay again staff does a great job.

I recently stayed at The garden place renovation and was blown away by the improvements. The renovations have not only revitalized the hotel but also fixed any previous issues brilliantly. The lobby exuded a fresh, inviting vibe, setting the tone for a fantastic stay. My room was a haven of comfort with a cozy bed, efficient air conditioning, and flawless plumbing - a far cry from past problems. Dining was a treat, with a revamped menu and attentive staff. What stood out was the stellar service. The staff's genuine warmth and proactive assistance truly elevated my experience. The upgraded facilities, including the gym and spa, were meticulously maintained. In essence, the garden place has aced its renovations, erasing past concerns and providing an exceptional stay. I highly recommend it and eagerly anticipate my next visit.

I'm thrilled to share how impressed I am with the maintenance and renovations here! The attention to detail in upkeep is truly commendable. The renovations have breathed new life into the space, with each corner exuding a fresh and inviting ambiance. The commitment to maintaining such a high standard is evident in every nook and cranny. It's evident that the team's dedication to ensuring the property looks its best is unwavering. Kudos to the team for their outstanding work!

where to start… 230$ for a damp, stinky king room with a tub in it. When I arrived in the room, there was hair all over the bathroom floor, dust bunnies in the main room and liquid still in the bathtub. The air conditioner is large, old, and VERY noisy. The furniture is very “motel 6” and poor quality with NO decor anywhere. I put prepackaged food in the refrigerator and it became inedible, as there are an insane amount of ice crystals developed on everything. The hallways stink like the carpet hasn’t been cleaned in years. there is no dinner on the premises, only a bar. this hotel does not take apple pay/tap pay for almost anything. The decor and interior design downstairs is gorgeous, but that’s about the only good thing about the hotel. Save your money, this place is terrible.

Beautiful rooms and amazing service from Brittany and Nick. Me and my honey stayed past our check out and they were so nice and understanding. Gave us our deposit back with no problems. Definitely coming back again. Amazing area.

unusual over the top decor but fun. spacious rooms, good price, would stay there again. It's like pretend luxury. Very close to airport and right off the freeway, very handy. Salvatore must have been a colorful figure. Our room keys didn't always work, the phone in my sisters room didn't work ( good thing for cell phones). We enjoyed our stay anyway.

  • 3/5 Alex N. 6 months ago on Google
Garden Place Hotel and Salvatore's in general always had a story. A place where you wined and dined or could have a luxurious weekend get-away. Finally had the opportunity to experience the hotel. The place is conveniently located right off the thruway, nearby restaurants and shops. Check-in was fast, although usually hotels use credit for incidentals. This hotel required a deposit. Room service did bring extra towels and the front desk associates were courteous. The room we received was OK, a little dated but clean. The beds are very soft, the pillows are HUGE and cannot be used for sleep, and the shower floods the bathroom. Early AM someone opened the door to our room (room service?)...kind of odd. Also, noisy guests in the middle of night, which disrupted sleep.

I wanted to update my review from my earlier one after my first stay. Actually I outright deleted it. It was kind of jokey and mean. To be honest, since the first review I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stayed here in recent months. Just a night to get away- managing retail during the holidays- and now doing a mini “staycation” I just added an extra night. The staff is amazing. Especially housekeeping. I let them know I just added a night- promising I wasn’t being a jerk and holing up past checkout- immediately I’m offered turnover service. The gentleman stopped what he was doing to see what he could do for me- I just wanted to try and be somewhat courteous. Front desk is equally great. The rooms are nice. Some seem to be recently remodeled but since I just want a big bed and a big tub I’m not fussy. I’ve recommended this spot to my staff and customers as a great spot to get away for a few nights and recharge. Thank you again.

staying at your hotel recently, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. The rooms were immaculately clean, and the renovations were outstanding. The attention to detail in the design and furnishings was truly impressive. From the modern fixtures to the comfortable beds, everything felt top-notch. I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant and comfortable stay. Five stars all the way!

I attended the Venetian Ballroom Disco New Years Party. The plus was the service and food. The HUGE MINUS was THE DJ. The place emptied out by 70% by 10 PM. Definitely a mood killer. He looked depressed which showed in his mixing, his mixing was waaaaay off beat. Transitions were HORRIBLE. His play list of DISCO was NOT DISCO. Ex: Grand Funk Railroad "some kind of wonderful" ? Please for the love of New Years Eve. DO NOT HIRE HIM AGAIN. Even the wait staff was surprised on how he cleared the place with their comments.

A nice but outdated hotel that is part of a well-known, higher class, WNY restaurant. The rooms were clean, the staff were helpful and greeted us every time we entered the building, however it felt like it was more of a requirement than a genuine gesture. It was decorated nicely for the holiday season and was clean. I would suggest some updates starting with some fresh paint on the exterior and some more charging points including USB ports in the rooms to help bring this place back to a higher level hotel.

My hubby and I stayed here when we needed a hotel in between a concert venue and his work. The rooms/hall, etc..are lacking and need some big updates but the bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable which made this hotel worth the stay regardless of the needed cosmetic updates. We bought breakfast from the cafe before we headed out. We were a little surprised that the pastries were not homemade but pre-packaged. We are not used to eating packaged foods but aside from that, the sandwiches we got were surprisingly good. We have another concert in two weeks and I am sure we will be back for another stay.

Lovely common spaces in the hotel, but the rooms had heavy damage. Plaster peeling off walls, shower head was broken and the room was oddly empty of furniture. However the bed was the softest comfort cloud bed ever. Lovely sleep!

Staff is efficient and helpful. They gave us great service. LOVE the ambiance of this hotel. Warm and cozy. If you want a charming hotel and not a cookie cutter one, this is the place. Jacuzzi suite is amazing. Nice breakfast. Very fair priced. Check out the breakfast area, it's old world design is cool. The salt water fish tank . Exercise area is well maintained

Overall, our stay at this hotel was a great experience. Check in was quite quick and the young lady checking us in was very friendly, polite and professional. She answered all our questions and was happy to help. The location of the hotel was great as we wanted something near shopping, and there's plenty of major stores all within a 10 minute drive. You're also not too far out from Buffalo. One of the most important things of a hotel room is the mattress, which can be a big hit or miss, and I was pleasantly surprised with the comfort of their mattress and slept very well. The room was a nice size, not small, and even though there were some stains and marks here and there on the walls and furniture, that's obviously expected for a hotel and not a big deal at all. The only minor complaints/suggestion we would have is that, 1. The room does not come with a microwave, which most do these days (there was a mini fridge though), and 2. There was no shelf in the shower, which was annoying as you have to place your soap/shampoo, etc on the floor and keep picking it up. Overall, I would definitely stay at this hotel and I do recommend it, if you can get it for a good price, around $100 max per night.

Pretty cool place. I was really impressed by the lobby and main hall area. The room was nice, spacious and updated pretty well. The bed was very comfortable and it was in a decent location, but fairly well robbed by the construction going on outside it. The TV was on when I entered and wouldn't go off with the power button, so I had to unplug it. The toilet closet was covered in mirrors 😳 I don't like watching myself pee that much, so that was kinda odd... There also weren't any cups for the sink.

Wow this place has gone down hill !!! Should be completely gutted. They closed over the pandemic and did clean before they reopened! We booked 2 rooms for a girls weekend. The first room had someone else staying in it and the second was not for to stay in! Hair on the bed, lamps didn't work, freezer had 3" of brown ice in it and half melted pills in the freezer, a 3 legged chair, hand prints on the mirror walls, pennies left on the table, marbles and pens on the floors. Not to mention thick dust on every surface and the air conditioning unit! We managed to get 2 other rooms but they weren't much better. There was dirty laundry left on the bed. The only good thing was clean towels and very hot water! Not up to Salvatore's standards. The staff tried to be helpful but not much they could do as they were very short staffed. Stay next door at the new hotel!

Garden Palace was a great stay for my husband and I. The manager Kevin and front desk clerk Nick were a huge help for us during our stay and wet above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Appreciated the complimentary shuttle to/from the airport and close proximity to restaurants. Very nice breakfast service provided in the AM as well as a water station available all day. Booked deluxe king room (no hot tub in room) and very pleased - good overall space, great temperature, nice sitting area and standing shower! My only thought is I would have preferred softer TP & tissues, but that is just me. Overall enjoyed the boutique experience of this hotel and will recommend to friends and family.

The location is great. A few miles from the airport. The hotel is next to a busy road. It can get loud if the room is on the side facing the road. The housekeeping could be better. I requested housekeeping and the room was not made up. I had to go to the front desk to get fresh towels. The breakfast is adequate. The entrance and the exteriors have been updated but the rooms are a little dated.

Left a bit unsatisfied, I made a reservation for my Wife birthday and chose the Empress suite, the staff were decent, helpful and nice, when we entered the room it looked nice at first glance. When we started to check the suite out we started to notice all the blemishes, about a quarter of the lights didn't work, there are no USB plug-ins, the fireplace was out of order, missing knobs on multiple light switches. The breakfast that is offered, was nothing out of the ordinary, had cereal options, bagels, coffee and tea etc. For a place that used to hold itself in high regard has indeed gone downhill. The hotel design is still stuck in the past and needs to be updated

Well...I didn't appreciate the $20 glass of wine. However the food was great. My fiance and I ordered the prime rib, it was very tender and seasoned wonderfully! And the lobster bisque was superb. 3 people asked us how our food was so they definitely stay on top of things:)

This place is really awesome!! There’s some bad reviews which made me nervous but if you’re a down to earth person with an appreciation for older establishments you will love it here. A kitschy faux historic Italian garden courtyard greets you as you walk in and it’s so pretty! Our room and tub was huge and clean. Our room had a hardwood floor so it’s possible they’re making an effort to remove older carpets in some of the rooms. Walking around exploring I love all of the 80s cut glass mirrors, retro wallpaper, and other little adornments everywhere. True time capsule status. Such a cozy and fun atmosphere. We had dinner at the restaurant which was delicious and they have a shuttle that transports you which is such a nice touch. This place is truly unique and deserves to be loved for what it is! It’s also dog friendly so we were able to bring our pup with us!

The hotel it self is nice, and has a fun different atmosphere with the beautiful chandelier in the lobby, and cute little indoor garden seating. We had no problems with the staff during check in or check out. Breakfast was a nice spread of pastries and cereal, no hot food but still better than the prepackaged stuff most hotels have gone too. However, the walls are very thin and not so sound proof, and since they play music in the hallways all night long (felt like our room had a speaker right outside the door) it makes for a very long night. If it weren’t for the music we would definitely return here but that alone is enough to keep me from returning or unfortunately recommending to anyone else.
