Very Rare Authentic Victorian Style House Located within Tempe’s Petersen Park Neighborhood. Built in 1892 as the home for Prominent Tempe Rancher Niels Petersen and his wife Susanna. Constructed by Renowned Architect, James Creighton, it was one the most Elegant rural homes in the Salt River Valley. This two-story Queen Anne Victorian-Style House features a Wrap-Around Front Porch, Various Custom Ornate Finishes throughout the Interior, and Ample Space for Entertaining. It is conveniently located just two miles from Downtown Tempe.

Really beautiful house with rich history. Definitely worth a visit. There is a nice park next door. Also, they had Apple cider, cookies, and a few really nice vendors outside. My 3 year old loved it!

I've always driven by not knowing exactly what this house was until I went on a field trip with my son's 4th grade class. The guides had a very nice structure and routine and kept the children involved and entertained. I thought that it was a great tour overall.

A wonderful piece of Tempe history in a very accessible location. Quaint little play ground for the kiddos. My 10 yr old daughter is still talking about Petersen House.

I love this house. Simple and dignified, offering a glimpse into Tempe's past. Lovingly cared for by the Tempe Historical society. A nearby opportunity to introduce the past to your children and grandchildren! And a nice family holiday activity for all! It is only open regularly to the public the first 3 full weekends in Dec. for Danish Christmas. This year (2019): Dec 7&8, 14 &15, 21&22. 10 AM - 2 PM Guides, cookies, some activities, park with swings and tables for families to make a nice day of it :-) FREE, although donations are accepted to help maintain this beautiful piece of Tempe history. During the year, the house opens for field trips for local schools and private group tours can be arranged through Tempe Parks & Rec, for a nominal fee. Enjoy!

Enjoyed the Christmas self-guided tour yesterday. In addition to the fabulous tour of the house, EVERYone of the dioceses was incredibly special. Their personalities shined bright and made the tour and visit so special. They truly educated us and we learned a lot. The storyteller could really spin the tales about the "little people", gnomes, etc. Our "old man" historian was a kick in the pants playing the "old man" and verbally sparing with us. The young man from ASU was a great sport as we teased him and bounced our questions off of him! All in good humor but a great addition to the fabulous tour! The Christmas carolers added to the Christmas spirit and we're amazingly talented!

I loved the whole house, the way it was preserved with the furnishings on display is awesome. Best of the four historical Tempe homes in my opinion.

Just walked around it to view. Wanted to see because of the proximity of where of the Grahams was shot toward the end of the Pleasant Valley War. Interesting history

Very well restored period home of one of Tempe's original settlers. Beautiful rooms with period appropriate furnishings. Very well worth a visit. Donations only, no admission charge.

New playground but still has quite a few dog droppings so be careful and don’t let your kids roam.

Stepping into the Peterson House felt like stepping back to the past. This is a humbling experience to stand in the same space where a pivotal moment of history occurred.

A Historic treasure that is the Petersen House Museum The exhibitions provide insights into local history and are expertly curated. It’s a great option for anyone looking for a fun and educational trip in the city because of the friendly staff and the lovely surroundings. For both history buffs and inquisitive minds, this is highly recommended.

Wait. You mean people lived in Phoenix before the 1990's no way. I think this place is a hoax. People didn't start moving here until the cookie cutter suburbs started populating all across the barren dessert land.

My kids love coming here when they do the Danish Christmas. They love trying to find all the nisse in the house. It's very fun to walk through and see it all decorated for Christmas.
