This place was a joke. The server never paid me any attention. I ordered something and he never put it on the bill. The meal itself was bland...and way smaller than the picture they put on the menu. It's like a appetizer plate more than a meal.

We have driven by this place many times, but never tried it. This day we decided to give it a try, as we were in search of a different spot then our usual. Chips, salsa, and tea was perfect. Especially the tea. Too often restaurant tea tastes bitter or old. The tea was fresh here so that was a plus. I also tried the torta for first time and it was delicious. Our waitress was training a new waitress, they were friendly & checked up on us refilling our drinks.

I didn't have high expectations going here. Quick lunch, fair price was really all I was looking for. For the most part it was about what I expected, but the chicken tacos caught me off guard. WOW! The food came out super fast. (that's good for lunch rush) Most of it looked about average - except the chicken tacos. They were worth the visit for sure. If I had time I would have gotten a couple more. They were that good. Here's a tip, get extra sauce. I could drink the stuff. LOL

Food didn’t taste good at all, just one waiter for many people, 34 minutes to get two tortas that were served on a hot dog bun and one burger that looked like kids meal. Pictures on menu are way different of what we got for lunch. Very dissatisfied, the only good thing was our waiter. We are not coming back

We tried to eat here Sat 9/16 but left after ~25 mins of waiting for service. Restaurant was not particularily busy, so I don't know what the problem was. After sitting in booth for about 15 mins with no server, we grabbed the hostess as she walked by and asked if there was a server for our section. She said yes, but no one ever came. After another 10 mins or so we left and drove down to Abuelo's near Chandler mall. Service there was prompt, efficient and courteous, and the food was amazing...much better than we've ever had at OTB Ahwatukee. While we've frequented OTB many times over the years (2 stars food rating based on past experience, not this visit since we never got service), the food is always just OK...we will avoid On The Border from now on...

It had been since 2018 when I last ate here. Not sure what happened to this place, but there prices have gone up, and portion sizes have gone way down, I ordered the Steak & Chicken Fajitas, but got something that looked more like a Chihuahua dog & a Tabby Cat. The portion sizes were about as big as my thumb, even the Fajita set up with sour cream and quacamole portions were about as big as my thumb. Definitely not coming back here again.

We ordered take out through the restaurant’s website and got the nachos with queso, chicken fajitas, and the fish tacos with a side of refried beans. We did not receive any utensils or napkins, nor did we see an option to add online. But one would assume take out comes with a couple utensils and napkins. The queso was good and had a nice kick to it. The fajitas were fine but nothing exceptional. The fish tacos were quite tasty and filling! The beans and rice were somewhat bland.

We love On The Border and our local locations were closed years back so we were excited to visit this location. Service was good from our server but the wait for seating was obnoxious as seats were clearly available but not enough serving staff to service them all. The quality of food was not what we expect from On The Border and not in line with the prices. If management is watching this I recommend a fresh new look at how the hostess interacts and how the food quality is overall.

Worst restaurant experience of my life. Spent an hour seated, waiting for food with two kids. Asked multiple times for a refill on chips during our wait and it never came. We had two kids with us and had to keep pulling out granola bars and applesauce pouches while waiting. There did not seem to be any sense of urgency about the long wait. We ended up leaving for chick-fil-a and canceling our order so we could grab some food and get the kids to bed.

I had the mesquite grilled chicken. It was nicely flavored but not too spicy. The grilled veggies tasted great too.

We were seated outside on the patio. We waited forever for someone to come outside and take our drink order After waiting 15 to 20 min, we went inside and asked for our waiter . We finally received water and ordered drinks. Another 15 minutes passed and again we had to go inside to ask for our server to order dinner. Not happy with the service. The fajitas were good. The chips were good. The Salsa was okay..it would be better if they had mild and hot. I would say it was a disappointing dinner.

I've been eating at this restaurant location for almost 15 years. The quality dips and ascends depending on who is working or managing. Lately I've noticed only one waitress/waiter on staff and that can cause long wait times The food seems to be the same great quality. I always enjoy coming!

The service was excellent! Their chips and HUGE, hot, and crispy! Ask for a side of hot chili's for your salsa too. Good with or without.

The food came out looking like it had sat for a while before being brought out. My wife's fajitas came out and were not sizzling. That seemed very odd. The metal plate it came out on was cool enough to touch. My son and I both ordered my favorite meal, ranchiladas. The meat looked leathery and old. It was tough. The cheese enchiladas did not look much better. The sauce had congealed. It was an odd color of brown and was granular in texture. Everything was bland. The waiter came by and asked how everything was. I told him it was not so good and it seemed it was sitting for a while. He came back after 10 or so minutes and let us know he comped my meal. Out of 3 pretty bad meals, we paid for two. I am sad so say, I don't think I will go back.

This was our first time at this location. The customer service was outstanding. Our waitress Marisa went above and beyond providing exceptional service. I ordered the chicken tacos with rice and beans. The food was delicious. The complimentary chips and salsa is one of the best that I have had. We will return to this location. I highly recommend this location. Update December 22, 2023 - Returned to this location. Once again, the customer service was outstanding. Our waitress Shannon provided exceptional service. I ordered the chicken fajitas with rice and beans. The food was delicious. The complimentary chips and salsa and queso was outstanding. We will be regulars at this location and signed up for the rewards program. I highly recommend this location. Eat here. Update January 8, 2024 - Returned to this location again. Once again, the customer service was outstanding. Each time we have come to this location, the manager Lynol, went above and beyond to make sure our experience at this location was exceptional. Our waitress Jennah was fast and pleasant. I ordered the sampler. The food was delicious. We are officially regulars at this location. I highly recommend this location. Eat here.

Worst meal I've ever had. Old over cooked steak that tasted like liver. Burnt hard refried beans I could literally stand a for in.

I'm not one to give chain restaurants 5 stars, but this On the Border deserves it. Michelle was our server. I had shrimp tacos and my wife had the Dos Equis batter fried fish tacos. We shared some guacamole. Everything was fresh and tasty. The kicker was that we came in close to closing time. Michelle was busy with closing task, but we were never neglected. Drinks were kept full and she updated us on our meal status. The cabbage on the tacos was fresh and crisp. The rice was fluffy and warm. The beans were creamy and delicious. I will frequent OTB again. This one is great no matter what time you get hungry.

Food was good, nothing to write home about. The presentation of the food was not the best. Def tasted better than it looked. Chips and salsa were very good. Menu had a lot of options, I just wasn’t impressed. The place was def a little older, floors were sticky and just old. Service was okay. Not sure I’d return to this location.

Me and my boyfriend came here on a date and we had a great time. The new street birria tacos were delicious and the salsa and chips were also good. We had a really good time and the food was perfect can’t wait to come back again!

Loved the Chicken Quesadilla. Excellent quick service. Everything was so fresh. Very attentive server but not overly to the point that it would be annoying. Clean nice atmosphere. Parking was easy. There are plenty of spots for this location.

Chicken tacos were good. Do not recommend the chips and salsa. Our server was very kind friendly and apologetic, but since they were understaffed the service was sparse. Not the server's fault. No host to greet/seat us or other customers. The atmosphere was nice and restaurant clean.

We came at about 11:30am and the place was totally empty so we were hesitant. I’m so glad we didn’t skip! The food wasn't terrible. While the red lettuce is still edible, its appearance suggests it's not very fresh. The chips, on the other hand, were rubbery and not crispy at all. It didn't quite meet the expectations of authentic Mexican cuisine. The seating area left something to be desired; there was an off-putting odor, and a closer inspection of the tables and walls revealed they weren't well-cleaned or maintained. However, it's worth noting that the service was excellent!

Came in for the first time tonight and everything was disappointing. We weren’t given plates to share our appetizer, or asked if we needed anything with it when it came out. Katie, our server, couldn’t bring us what we asked for at the table. Three tables seemed to be overwhelming for her. After she dropped our food off, we asked for the things we needed. Katie ignored us, then continued to run food to her other two tables while bringing them the things they asked for. We didn’t get chips until after our entrees came out, but we had to ask twice, and no salsa was included. Couldn’t get Katie to bring napkins or a refill on tea that we initially asked for either. My food got cold while I waited for the salsa and chips, cause I wanted salsa for the dry 9oz skirt steak they tried to feed me. “Steak” was like dog food and the rice was stale. Manager came by and discounted our tacos, the cheapest thing we had ordered. Talked to the manager about how our server was struggling yet the rest of the staff was standing around joking and laughing. No teamwork at all huh? Go somewhere else where they care about their food and service. Don’t waste money or time here.

On The Border Mexican Grill was fantastic, the service was great, the atmosphere was amazing, and the food was absolutely great. We had just gotten back in town and we were glad that we stopped at the On The Border Grill. I hope that this review finds some comfort in your decision to eat at this great place. First time here. The food is good and above average. Empanadas are very very good. Service was outstanding. Had a very patient and accommodating servier named Sherri who made our experience awesome.

The WORST Customer service ever!! Had to seat ourselves spoke the the waitress with blond short hair for menus she didn’t want to take our order instead have the bartender and the bartender never took our order! No communication and no warm welcoming at all!

Super slow service. No refills, we had a fly in the margarita, and four peaces of avocado pit in the guacamole. We waited over 30 minutes for the bill, and our server never came back after she took the order for our food.

The lack of help and the perception the folks gave me that work here is disappointing. you want to treat me unfairly and ignore me for 15mins before I walked to the bar for assistance. Then have a server tell me to wait by the door. They wouldn't let me near anything and it has nothing to do with covid. The media will hear of this! Don't treat people poorly. In the last 5ish times over the course of the last 2 1/2 months or so that we have been here I have tried to eat a beef related dish 3 separate times and it made me very sick each time. I have had beef empanadas, a steak quesadilla, and a beef taco on separate visits. Whenever I have anything chicken related or just queso or something I’m fine. So however they store beef here is clearly not the right way. And it’s of definite concern to anyone thinking of ordering anything with beef in it. I feel ridiculous saying beef so much in one paragraph but I’m being entirely serious. I love On The Border and want to continue to support the staff here but guys, check your fridge temperatures and make sure your dates are okay. Before it becomes a serious issue that gets someone in the hospital.

I ordered the steak bowl. It was good but the wait was outrageous. Also the serving size was a little small for the price. The chips and salsa were good though. Overall I think there are better options in ahwatukee.

Our first time and it won't be our last! Kyle our waiter was great, even on his first solo night! We were on the road for the past 5 days and in need of some good food in a relaxed environment and On The Border hit the spot. The 3 cheese burrito, which was made vegetarian, was top notch and the portobello border bowl was full of flavor as well. Quite pleased, give them a try.

We sat down at our table for 15 minutes and were never acknowledged by any servers. I did make eye contact with a couple of them but they never said anything. The restaurant was not even half way full. Would not recommend this place due to terrible service?

Great fajitas

Good service, but food was similar to a Tex-Amex Applebee’s version. Prices fairly as well. Sopapillas were horrible. Tiny little squares completely drenched in brown sugar. I had to scrap a couple table spoons off. They weren’t even fluffy. They were these gross deflated tiny sponges. Anyways food was average just as you would have at an Applebee’s. I might go again not sure. But try it out if you haven’t.

Great variety of food options on the menu. Service was good. Free chips and salsa when seated. Ordered a medium rare steak, came back well done. Could've told them but who wants their plate taken away while u wait and watch ur partner eat alone and wait for another plate to arrive... Hence the 4 stars. Reasonable prices items, again, good selection of food on the menu. Will come back again.

Most of the staff wore mask except our Servers(???)The duo handled all of the Dining area about 6 tables being served. They we’re very slow and were right on top of customers, again without Masks. We specifically told our waiter we wanted To order from the lunch menu,(I physically showed him on the lunch menu what we wanted) but when the bill came we got charged the dinner price. We were still in the lunch slot when we ordered. The manager told us the order didn’t get into the kitchen until the dinner time. We had to tell her that was not because of us. She balked a bit but she did change the price to what we ordered. We were very disappointed they chose not to follow their COVID-19 plan. We have been to this location at least 2 -3 dozen times prior. This was the 1st restaurant we chose to venture out to. Sadly it will be our last.
