This place is AMAZING!! This is a DINER! They have an awesome menu, you are greeted with smiling faces as soon as you walk through the door and everybody knows your name! It seems like a family like back in the day you would go to have a good breakfast before church with your family. We had a great waitress who's name is Tina and she was so full of energy and gave great recommendations. You know I got the grits and my friend got the overstuffed omelette and was raving about it! I've found my new regular breakfast spot! This place is kinda tucked off so if you are not looking for it you'll miss it.

Two words. Pork. Roll. Can't believe I'm just finding this place after being in AZ for 23 years (they've been around for 27 BTW). This is that neighborhood spot where you can find home cooking and friendly staff who clearly know their regulars. The food was delicious but I'm mainly ecstatic to find somewhere that serves legit pork roll (or Taylor Ham if you prefer). So many other delicious sounding options for breakfast or brunch I will definitely be happily making the 40 minute drive and returning again and again. Will be hard pressed to order something other than the pork roll but the cinnamon roll that my wife got looked legit too.

I am baffled by their rating. Small, congested place. Had to wait to be seated. The place is crowded with no real systems. 35 minute ticket times at breakfast. That is absurd. The food is mediocre at best and certainly not worth a 35 minute ticket time. The orange juice comes in a bottle and is certainly not fresh squeezed as advertised. Tried to give me the wrong bill which was double the actual bill. Just bad.

Great food. I had the country fried steak, it was the best I’ve ever had. The batter/crust was so light and tasty. This is a no frills place with great service, everyone was friendly and attentive. Your coffee cup will never go dry.

We usually go for breakfast but now we will start going for lunch! Holy smokes!!!! This place makes such good food, everything is amazing. While I highly recommend the chicken strips and the patty melt I am absolutely excited work my way through the rest of the menu.

I've lived across the street for multiple years and have never tried this place until recently. Will now make regular visits late in the week early am for a delicious breakfast before a hard day's work. They are unbelievably friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic. Super curteous staff with bubbly attitudes and the food is so good. Comfort breakfast food for sure. The coffee tastes good. Regulars are happy and good people to share a space with. They care about their customers and care about providing good service. I always get an omelette and hash browns and it's good every time! Please make a stop by sometime, it's worth it!! Very affordable as well!! Can feed multiple mouths without going bankrupt for sure. This place is just amazing. Thank you guys for a happy early Friday morning 💜

This was a nice home style diner restaurant. The tables are labeled as clean and it was seat yourself. The waitress was friendly and made recommendations too. I ordered the omelet with Jack cheese and green chilis, it was tasty. My son ordered the omelet with salsa and cheese. We thought both were tasty. My son recently moved to the neighborhood and we have been having fun trying out new places.

This place was a great find! I ordered the hamsteak with eggs. A side of bacon and toast. Everything on the menu looks and sounds delicious. It's a bit jarring to walk into a place so small. But it feels homey. There's various knickknacks on the walls. Flags. Support for vets. It's beautiful in it's own American Dream kind of way. Our server was a sweetheart, and the gentleman giving out menus seemed a bit angered by life but you can tell he softens up the longer you stick around. Great food, great people. If you ever want a good homey breakfast definitely try this place out. THEY EVEN HAVE COTTAGE CHEESE. You know how hard that is to find at most breakfast joints? Very.

We always want to explore places to eat and I found this cozy place. Please don't be surprised. This is a small place and very crowded on Sunday which means they have good tasteful food. Honestly, for me it is just pretty decent food, the customer service was absolutely great. Very friendly atmosphere.

Was in the area while my son competed in a culinary event and was looking for a place to eat. Found this small diner with a high star rating and it lived up to expectations. Staff was very friendly. While I did not get my servers name, she and other servers were attentive even though it was a busy morning. Food was delicious and the perfect portion size. The cherry on top of my experience was the fact they serve Farmers Brothers coffee. The staff know all the regulars names and if I lived in the area I would definitely become a regular. I’m looking forward to the next time I’m in the area so I can visit 40th Street Café.

Throughly enjoyed my meal! I had the Chicken and Broccoli skillet and it was 🔥 had a side of sourdough toast and it was buttery and delicious! I had to take some to go. Service was great and it had real family feel, seems like they have a lot of regulars because the servers knew almost all the customers by name which I really liked. Would definitely recommend and I’ll will be back to try more dishes oh and I can’t forget the pancakes were top tier nice and fluffy and delicious 😋

Nice local shop. Staff was very nice. We ordered the country skillet and corned beef hash. Both were great! They had outdoor seating as well and that's where we sat as it was full inside. It's Sunday so that was expected.

I love this restaurant. It is great food with a big variety of different foods. Tina is awesome. She was very helpful and knowledgeable. I'm from out of town and needed a great place to eat. This place has great home cooked foods. I will eat here and you should too. Whenever I come to town. Great fresh prepared food at reasonable prices. Where go wrong.

We love this restaurant! They have excellent food and their staff is incredible! (Ashley is our favorite server!) They have been handling the pandemic extremely well, from what we can see. No patrons inside, take out and outside dining only, right now. Very clean, wearing masks when necessary, extremely understanding of all customers! Definitely will be returning, frequently, with or without this pandemic! ♡

Love the food here. If you're looking for your "Breakfast place", I highly recommend! By far, some of the best service I've had. Ever been to a diner or cafe and your out of coffee and you hold the cup up in some hope that someone there will come with a refill and you wait for about 5-10 minutes between each cup? My cup of coffee was never empty. Never empty..!! The waitresses were on-point with their patrons. Even when they're full up, I still had the best service! Food is spectacular. Great portions. Great flavors. Great place!

So just a warning, if you aren't in a first name basis with the staff, you'll be served last. We went and were definitely seated before some of their regulars, those people had eaten and left before we even got our food. The food was great though. But honestly, not worth the wait. It wasn't just us either, there was a table there with kids before us and they waited over an hour too.

Probably the most genuine, friendliest service of any diner around. The regulars attest to this. Food is very good, quantity and quality-wise. Prices are more than reasonable. Old school, diner counter in the front adds to the charm. Hidden gem that deserves more acclaim. The women and men work hard to make this place jibe so well, and to make the food and experience so enjoyable.

Poor service. Servers not attentive. It's a locals only type of place. I wasn't a local so Poor service for me. Took almost 30 minutes to be served a simple breakfast plate of food, corned beef hash with eggs over easy. The toast was cold as soon as it finally arrived at the table. Servers just steady talking amongst themselves. Her neck pains and all she took for it isn't what I needed to hear. On and on it went. I won't be back.

This place was very crowded on Sat morning, even we had to wait outside for 15 mins to get the table. food is good but it takes some time to get your order served so be prepared to spend some time if you want to dine in here. Enough menu options for kids.

If you are looking for a cozy and friendly place to enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch, look no further than 40th Street Cafe. This family-owned diner has been serving the Phoenix area since 1993, and it shows in their quality and service. The menu offers a variety of American classics, from pancakes and omelets to burgers and sandwiches, all made with fresh ingredients and generous portions. The staff is always attentive and courteous, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Whether you are a regular or a first-time visitor, you will feel welcome and satisfied at 40th Street Cafe. This is truly a hidden gem in the neighborhood, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves good food and good company.

I took my dog to his veterinarian which is right next to 40th st cafe. I was excited to try out their food since it seemed really appetizing. After my dogs appointment, I decided to sit in the patio. I had my dog with me and I was told they don’t allow dogs. I was really upset since their was a customer with his dog . I am really disappointed I understand rules are rules but at least be fair with all your customers. The dog was not a service dog it was a small dog and it didn’t have a service dog vest. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!

It's nice small town feel. Smells good, eggs and potatoes were great. Chicken fried steak s.was the toughest I've ever had. The steak knife had a hard time getting through it.

This is a wonderful spot that we frequent whenever we're in town. Our friends have been coming here for decades and the staff and atmosphere are really relaxed and laid back. The food gets your belly nice and full and the hot sauce is flavorful and the perfect compliment to anything on the menu ;)

This restaurant has tons of regulars and the employees are always very welcoming. The food is good nothing amazing but always good. I don’t like that they charge you a service fee to uses credit card. Make sure you have cash when you go.

The staff is very friendly and this was my second time visiting. I like that they have an option to sit outside and ensure that the table is disinfected. The food is excellent and the waitress kept us informed on when our meal will be out. The food is worth the wait and will keep posting new meals as I try in the future.

We used to live closer to this cafe and would make a point to visit once or twice a month for breakfast. Service is impeccable - the staff is friendly and funny, will make you feel welcome and constantly anticipates your needs. Although this isn't a "brunchy" spot, they serve some of my favorite breakfasts in the valley. Come here for an affordable, yummy and cozy breakfast if you can!
