My Service Dog and I took a visit to this park. From the parking lot inside the facility is a good clip. I'm a Disabled Veteran with a few physical problems. We took it slow and managed to get to the fenced in area just fine. I would love to tell you the actual distance, but honestly I truly don't know. Maybe a quarter of a mile. When we arrived there were 3 dog's playing catch and having fun. I was just a bit concerned because my poor dog is always working, I was hesitant to let her free because she doesn't have much friend time. But after a few minutes she seemed eager to join the fun. I unleashed her and she had the time of her life . Everyone's dog's were wonderful, not a one showed any sign of aggression. Inside the fencing are water fountains for both humans and fur babies. The people were very receptive to my dog. She's a Pitt Bull mix and I have had problems in the past just for her looks. Not here, everyone was kind to us both. So if my dog can have fun, I'm sure yours will too. It's worth it!! Daisy and I had a great time!

Great park.. Even though it's in a tougher part of town. Lots of friendly people and dogs. Could use one or two more trash cans and another park bench or two. Overall a great time.. And the regulars seem pretty cool, even regulated an aggressive dog and owner. Closest to home and a surprise move place. Enter off seventh street just north of Indian school. Easy to miss the entrance.

Beautiful park for walking. The people and dogs have been very friendly in my experience. Generally well maintained. Would be nice if they had more seating areas for the dog owners.

Absolutely love this park. My pup and I like to visit the dog park then go for a walk around the lake 😊

Their dog park is very spacious. They have a section for both large dogs and small dogs right behind it. It's generally clean with plenty of stations for trash where the dogs won't get to them. Like any park in arizona, it can occasionally be muddy, so be sure you can either clean your pup or have back seat covers for your pups.

This park has the potential to be one of the best parks in the valley, but the staff here do not maintain their park. This park also seems to have a huge homeless issue. Encanto Park should be your go to for Phoenix parks.

My feelings are three star are generous. I viewed more than acceptable amounts of dog waste in the overall park but was still unprepared for the two dog parks. At the under 20 pound dog park was a person drying clothes on fence and applying makeup. One person, zero dogs. Nothing appealing about the park. The 20#+ dog park had one less than 5# dog with a person totally absorbed with a Mobil phone. Anything remotely close to the miniture dog encouraged growls and barking. Myself or anything outside of the dog park area. I was tempted to ask the person if I could bite the dog? I was inside the under 20# park and saw that while both a good size were equally unattractive.

I have a small pup of six months and this is a great place for him to interact, play, and just be a puppy. We make lots of friends every time we visit, and his social skills I'm improve each time. At first he stayed next to me and was intimidated by all the activity. Now he's become more engaged and will run and chase with other dogs without much worry.

Must love dogs! 🐶 🎾 One of the better dog parks in the Phoenix Metro area. Always a good group of friendly people and their cute dogs. The large dog section is cleaner than most other parks, which is a plus. The enclosure is really big so there is a lot of room for them to run around and get their yayas out. I have been into the small dog section as well and was impressed with how big that side was as well. The water fountains work and are pretty clean. I don’t mind visiting this park when I am on this side of town. It even closes pretty late so it’s nice to know that I can take my dog out even if it’s after 9pm. Highly recommend a visit for you and your puppy pal. 🐶

Wide open space in both the big dog and small dog parks. Water is available as well as poop bags. The park has taken away all seating as a response to the pandemic. Both parks are kept clean by park maintenance.

There are 2 separate large and small dog parks. Take your dog in at its own risk. That being said, it's best to have a well socialized animal for the sake of other dogs and people too. I've seen a woman with an infant in her arms as well as small children in the enclosure - all reasons to know your dog and what it's capable of before going.

It was somewhat well lit when I arrived around 830 pm, only a few other people there. I like that they have separate parks for small dogs and large dogs. Although it’s difficult to see the signs when you walk up because there’s not much lighting.. the lighting is patchy throughout the actual park, but it feels safe enough even at night. They have working water fountains for both people and dogs, I personally wouldn’t drink from one but it’s great for the dogs. It was hard to find with Apple Maps , it took us to the back entrance which is gated off and you’d have to get out to manually open the gate which I believe you’re not really supposed to do, but I just pulled up google maps and it brought us to the right entrance. Overall it’s efficient for what it’s for; letting the dogs off the leash to run around and burn some energy..

This place is big and open and the dogs were all very friendly but the places for humans to sit was non-existent and there is like almost no grass.. so very dusty and dirty. Our dog had a lot of fun so that’s what matters.

2 Dog Parks separated by size. One for small dogs tucked behind the larger dog park. 20 lbs is the cutoff. Great space, both dog parks are quite large and plenty of other furry friends for my little rascal to play with.

Tons of space, lots of good pups but not very well kept grass and you gotta bring your own baggies. If you have plastic bags you're looking to get rid of they have dispensers that are community stocked.

Awesome especially if you have a dog that needs to run early morning or late evenings. 10:00pm most nights 11pm Sunday night. Place for big dogs separate place for small. Meet some nice people my service 🐕 loved it. I loved it .Got a break I didn't have to worry. Amazing I'm a disabled vet and I never even knew it was there.

Great park in a great location, although some dog owners who have under-socialized dogs continue to try to force their dogs to interact with others which just exacerbates their aggression.

Gross, dirt dog lot...sadly only option sometimes when they water other dog parks. Never the first choice for our family, but our dogs still have fun

  • 4/5 Victoria H. 3 years ago on Google
Honestly worst part is usually the people, otherwise is a big park, separate small/big sections, and always maintained. They close from July to End of August though yet the park never had.much grass or looks like they really didn't anything those 6 weeks. I think it's a safe enough area

  • 5/5 Cindy P. 3 years ago on Google
Beautiful park in general. The dog park specifically is fairly well maintained with a ton of space for the dogs to meet and play with each other. Some people don't know the etiquette of only one dog in the caged/unleashing area so beware of that of your dog is excitable.

Good park, good dogs. If I had to criticize it, I’d say there’s too much poop on the ground from worthless owners not cleaning up after their dogs. I’ll be returning

Historical Scenic park in the middle of Phoenix. Nicely kept grounds with a fishing lake and dog park areas.

  • 1/5 Terry U. 10 months ago on Google
I have been there twice in the last month. Both times my dog was attacked and the owner didn’t even bother to take care of the dog. The last time on Thursday a dog came up to the fence and started to growl before me and my dog even got into the park. I am sad , but never will go back.

Great place to bring your canine companion. Sure there's no obstacle courses or anything but the big open space is more than enough for your dog to run around with their new friends and play fetch all day.

  • 5/5 David P. 1 year ago on Google
I love this place! It's a great place to bring big and small dogs (2 different areas) to run and release their energy. Highly recommend for picnics too.

  • 5/5 Daniel P. 1 year ago on Google
A great place to take your Furrbies and enjoy a clean well kept play park just for them. Plenty of space to run jump and meet new friends. I suggest you bring a comfortable lawn chair, beach umbrella, sun screen, H2O, toys and of course TREATS!! The most convenient parking is accessible from the 7th street entrance just no. of the VA hospital and just so. of the highschool football field. Have a blast!!!

Great place to have a walk or jogging, or walking around inside park premises with Your pet...except some dog owners' forget ' that dogs pop...

  • 4/5 Nareum 1 year ago on Google
I liked it! There's two seperate areas. One for small dogs and one for big dogs. It's pretty big on both sides. The only thing I'd like to encourage is the owners to pick up their pets poop! There was a lot of poop!

This is such a great dog park and is definitely part of our Top 5 favorites in the valley. Not only is it HUGE but there is 2 enclosed areas, water fountains and plenty of seating in the shade. You can't beat it.

Nice dog park. Usually fairly busy. Located right at Steele Indian School Park so you can walk with your leashed dog around pond and sit at shaded tables.

This is a decent park. Friendly people here the last time I was here. Today I came and that's when I found out it's closed until 8-23-2022. I guess they forgot to update that on Google Maps. So much for that.

Not my favorite dog park. It's very small and not very well kept up. The dog owners don't really seem to pay attention.

  • 3/5 Monsieur A. 3 years ago on Google
People and dogs are mostly friendly. There are individuals who are dog park goers how’ve put a lot of effort to increase the quality of safety with regards to lighting at this park. The park is called the dust bowl because despite annual resurfacing, which is never done right also holds multiple events every year that destroys the grass, not to mention the park is a bowl that needs to be completely regraded then resurfaced. Expect to bath your dog.

Great place to let your socialized dog have a good run and play date. They keep a clean safe environment for people and their dogs.

  • 5/5 Missy D. 3 years ago on Google
This park is huge! To me anyway. I’m used to taking my dog to Granada, but when I saw that there was a dog park here, I chose to go there tonight. Unfortunately, my dog was double the size of all the large dogs in the large dog area. My dog is friendly and gets super excited at other dogs, but he lunges on the leash and it worries me. He isn’t used to other dogs and he’s always wagging his tail when he barks at other dogs then runs in circles around me all excitedly. I adopted him a month ago (he’s a German Shepherd), and they said he’s good with other dogs, but I didn’t want to risk another owner being frightened of him (so many are even when he’s just sitting!) There were TONS of dogs in the fenced off area. I was hoping we would be alone haha. I have no clue how to introduce him to other dogs when it’s so crowded. The trails were fine though. The creepy statues sitting down on the bench were not so fine. People were fishing too. It was neat! I’ll definitely go again, but until now, I’ll find a dog park with fewer people around to get him used to other dogs.

Nice dog park! LOTS of dogs. Around sunset there’s usually 30-40 dogs. Most are well behaved. You will never find a dog park free of any trouble makers or owners that don’t know much but hey. It’s all apart of doggie socialization. Just for the love of god people don’t stick your hands into a dog fight to try to break it up. If it’s really bad grab the dogs from the back legs and pull them apart. But usually the more we’ll behaved dogs will get in and break it up.

Good park. It does have a lot of dirt, but some grass. Margaret T. Hance Dog Park is all nice grass, but is just a bit smaller (not too small). They were closed on/off for maintenance, so I use Steele Indian Park as a backup.

  • 2/5 Delana 3 years ago on Google
Dirty, not much grass. I find many homeless and people who refuse to control their aggressive dogs here.

  • 5/5 Lace K. 4 years ago on Google
Doesn't get any better than this for free! Separate off-leash areas for small and large dogs. Plenty of leash-on walking trails with nice views of downtown. Plenty of parking. The dog runs could use more lighting after dark. If you like to bring your dog after sunset, I highly suggest a light-up dog collar so that you can see where they're at in the park. Best free dog park I've been to. Just make sure you know how to handle the suicide lanes on 7th street before you drive over!!

Small Dog park area is nice. Spacious and green. Needs more seats/ benches. So far good responsible and friendly pet parents. The large Dog area, very big, not very green, most people bring their seating. Friendly pet parents but most leave dog poop so.... theres a bad fly problem and have stepped in poop while playing with my pet. I see the city workers doing there job .....come on people....pick up your Pets' Poop. It gets disgusting. Im glad Hance opened back up.

This park needs an agility course or something. It's just a big yard. Most of the people are nice though and the dogs play well. I take my 2 small and 1 large dog here and have not had any issues with fights.

This is an okay-sized dog park. I wish it was grassier. It is pretty dirty and there is a lot of dirt. A good amount of dogs show up at least.

  • 4/5 Priscilla 3 years ago on Google

  • 3/5 Katie H. 3 years ago on Google
I like this dog park 90% of the time, however, it seems to also be the place people bring their unsocialized dogs. Some dogs are not meant to be at a dog park. I’ve seen people with completely unsocialized dogs with a muzzle on, trying to attack other dogs while their owner sits in a lawn chair talking to their friends. I’ve seen people’s dog get in an actual dog fight and they don’t even leave afterwards. Never seen that at Hance dog park before.

  • 2/5 Gemma R. 3 years ago on Google
Very nice park but when i took my dog she got infested with ticks it took us months to be able to get them off of her and some dogs are very aggressive and don’t play well with others but overall nice place but we won’t be going back.

Nice pups and humans 🙃 nice to have a park that separates big/small dogs for the timid midsizers to not hide under the bench the whole time like a snail. Picnic table in the small dog pen AND shaded by trees in some spots.
