The experience was great, loved the atmosphere and nostalgia of the bar area. Very interesting history and good service. The bread basket was delicious (cornbread!) and the seafood chowder was excellent. We ordered the two person shareable beef tenderloin and it was probably the worst cut I have ever had…… I was extremely disappointed with how much we paid for it. I would definitely go back for the seafood chowder and a drink at the bar though. We probably should’ve said something but my dad is too nice. Felt like a waste of $280 :/

Excellent food and service. We were greeted warmly at the front door and seated promptly. The bread basket was brought even before we had selected our entrees. Had an excellent Buffalo ribeye perfectly cooked. They seemed busy for early on a weeknight but not crowded. Well worth the visit

The stockyards steakhouse in Phoenix is legendary! If your looking for the best steaks in town, go check out what these nice folks are cooking up! They are located in walking distance of the light rail. They have the building lite year round with warm white Christmas lights. They look amazing! The food will definitely keep you coming back for more! Although it is a few dollars more than the average steakhouse, you get what you pay for. The service & food is at platinum level and to me that’s priceless. Thank you!

Came here with my husband and a couple of our friends. It was a decent dinner. I had the 8oz Filet Mignon. It came with either a soup or salad and choice of side. The chili was fantastic, chowder was okay just a standard chowder, steak stew was really good. As the side, we enjoyed the parmesan scalloped potatoes but they were more like a mash then anything. For the steak it was okay, I ordered medium rare and I'd say it was a bit closer to medium. My friend ordered rare but got medium rare. Our other friend ordered medium rare but got rare. So the temps of steak were a bit off. We all still enjoyed the steak as it came. My husband had the Fried Jumbo shrimp platter and mentioned his veggies weren't cooked all the way so he mainly stuck with the shrimp. For waitress, she was nice but came off a bit scripted and felt like a very robotic conversation, not very personalable. Overall, we enjoyed our meals BUT for the price it just wasn't worth it. It's not a place that we will tell others they have to go and probably will seek out a different place to try next time.

First time here. We knew before hand it would be pricey. They did not disappoint. We enjoyed the elk, prime rib, with potato, mushrooms, creamed spinach and shrimp cocktail. The service was impeccable. Thank you to everyone!!! We highly recommend, especially for special occasions.

June 12, 2023 I am regret to be informed the experience was not satisfactory and manager Mr. T. Moore manager only made the situation worst. Waitress- not attentive and didn't bring out the appetizers before meal. Staff-uses foul mouth it is encouraged by management Food- great! ( chef did a wonderful job) Management- horrible customer service skills. Side note, the last time I visited i was in my business attire Definitely will not recommend this restaurant to anyone base on my finding. A month agoExcellent hostesses, kitchen staff, waiter and waitress. The food was excellent. The menu selection is ideal. The atmosphere was phenomenal.

Walking through the door is like stepping back in time, it's very rustic to the period. The food was prepared as ordered, and the steak was perfect. The staff was very polite and courteous and attended to our every need promptly. The 1889 saloon is a site to see, so do so before or after you have dinner. It is highly recommended for lunch, dinner, or drinks.

I was treated for my 20yr work anniversary and this place is amazing. The decor is astonishing throughout the restaurant. Our waiters and waitresses were quite courteous and attentive to our party of 20+ Now the food.. I ordered the Ribeye steak and it was perfectly medium rare for me, juicy and delicious. I also enjoyed the pecan pie for dessert. I would most definitely eat here again and recommend it.

We really enjoyed ourselves! It was country quaint. We ate pretty much everything. I had filet mignon, side of sea scallops, baked potato with sour cream and some sort of strawberry martini. I don't recall our server's name but he was knowledgeable, not too much, not too little. The bathrooms were also very clean. We will be back. One star off because my food wasn't hot but was really good anyway. My husband and daughter enjoyed our visit and we will be back.

Kayla the bartender in the Saloon took great care of me. Great place for the protein. The seafood chowder was delicious and the Steak was cooked absolutely perfect. Wine list was not the best but it was a volume selection. Has that typical rustic steakhouse look and feel and the Saloon was right in line with the atmosphere I was looking for. It is not cheap but it was worth it if you want to make sure you are getting the best of what you are looking for.

Sat at the bar and Kayla was the best, sweetest and the most delightful bartender. I didn't want for anything the whole time I spent there. Absolutely my favorite steakhouse in Phoenix! If you haven't been, make it a destination! The staff is the greatest and the food is incredible. My hat's off to the kitchen staff they kill it every time I'm there. Thank you Stockyards crew!!!

My wife and I stopped here for lunch one day when we were in the area. We arrived an hour before they closed between lunch and dinner, so it was nice and quiet. We were both very glad we did. I started with a cup of some pretty awesome New England clam chowder, which was topped with crispy bacon bits. I had the 12 oz bison ribeye, and she had the 12 oz filet mignon. Both were very tender and well cooked. We decided to also spring for dessert. Her chocolate mousse was rich and creamy. The raspberry added the perfect balance to the nearly dark chocolate flavor. The pecan pie. Wow! This is probably the BEST pecan pie either of us have ever eaten. Everything about it was perfect. All in all, it is definitely worth a try if you're craving a great steak and you have a little extra $ to throw down.

Just discovered this place last night. My wife and I went for a few drinks and some food before a show. We sat at the bar and had excellent service. Old Fashioneds are good and that salmon was amazing! They bring bread with a honey butter that was so good! We definitely are coming back to try more.

Jokes aside!!! This was an incredible steakhouse. Our server was Megan. Megan was very knowledgeable waitress. We went there for me, because my husband is vegan. We were not sure what to expect but Megan helped me with the menu and chose the best steak that I’ve EVER eaten. Megan picked the best vegan meal for my husband. I will return because this restaurant delivers!❤️.

This was a perfectly wonderful evening! This was near a condo we were renting and so decided to try it. We were surprised by the ambiance on the inside. I love paintings and sculpture so it was delightful. Furthermore, my elk rates up in one of the top five meals I have ever experienced. It was amazingly tender and delicious and the potatoes that came it were a perfect complement. My friend loved his sirloin as well. The drinks were very well done and we ended our meal with grasshoppers made with ice cream. The service was perfect. What a great night!

We went for lunch and it was pretty good! Look at the portion sizes! The food tasted fresh and the meat was so tender. Unfortunately they didn’t have biscuits for lunch so we ordered garlic toast. It was definitely worth it! Fish and chips were affordable at 16 dollars. The steak was close to 40. The ambiance of this place was great... cowboy and western! I would recommend this place to bring friends visiting from out of town too.

Food is great. Service could be better. We had a reservation for four but came in early and we were seated right away. Our server started off great but she either couldn't focus anymore or didn't care. Our drinks were never refilled until asking for the check. She actually asked us about dessert before asking to refill my husband's coke. Our food was prepared perfectly!

Went to the Stockyards with my friend for dinner after watching the Angels/Texas Rangers spring training game. First time at this fine establishment for us. No reservations but they seated us immediately. Ur waiter Dan was first class with menu explanations and recommendations. Margaritas were very good. Prime rib, according to my friend was better than Lawrys ! I had fried chicken which was delicious. We’ll definitely go there again when we are back in Phoenix.

First time at an old Phoenix Staple... Only ate during happy hour in the saloon. Beer was cold and the margaritas fresh. Service was quick and attentive. Prime rib sliders were big portions for being sliders... Which I appreciate!

Not the kind of staff I'd want representing my restaurant. Didnt even get to try the food. If you're a minority double check your reservation because regardless of the fact that there was only 7 cars outside this restaurant they refused to honor our reservation and say maybe they can find a table in a lone corner of the restaurant away from tables that were clearly empty. Then they proceeded to point out 1 of our parties' shirt..... i guess it took them some time to remember their "dress code" Nonetheless shamefull business ethics. I've had better service at a Popeyes food chain which says way too much.

CONSISTENCY IS A MUST, WHEN IT COMES TO DINING OUT. THE STOCKYARDS HAS THIS COVERED ON EVERY LEVEL. THEIR FOOD ALWAYS SATISFIES, AND THE SERVICE IS TOP-NOTCH. GOTTA LOVE ALL THE BRANDING IRONS THEY USED TO MAKE THEIR CHANDELIERS, AND ALL OF THE OLD PHOTOGRAPHS OF PEOPLE WHO PLAYED THEIR PART IN SHAPING ARIZONA INTO WHAT OUR STATE IS TODAY! THE PERFECT PLACE TO CELEBRATE ANY SPECIAL OCCASION IS CERTAINLY AT AZ'S ORIGINAL STEAKHOUSE! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

  • 5/5 Richard H. 3 years ago on Google
I've driven by it hundreds of times, know the history, and have been given several recommendations but it took 13 years of marriage to finally make it there for dinner. The only complaint was waiting so long to go. The dining rooms are beautiful, the wait staff was most courteous, and the food was amazing. If you are hungry for a good steak, this is a great restaurant. Enjoy...

Visited the Stockyard Steakhouse last night for the first time after hearing alot about the place online. Had a very enjoyable experience overall, but wasn't quite what I was hoping for overall. The food was pretty good, especially the beef. I had their largest slice of Prime Rib which was absolutely delicious. The meat was close to being fork tender and had such a robust flavor. Unfortunately the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were very bland. My fiance had the ribeye and lobster tail which were also both delicious and cooked to perfection. The service was phenomenal! Our server was extremely attentive, very friendly, and provided a true professionalism. We had two dinners, a bottle of wine, and an additional side dish which came out to around $225. I'm not completely dissatisfied to say the least, but just expected more from the side dishes, especially when spending over $200 on dinner. We would probably go back in the future though and try some different items on the menu.

This is the only steakhouse where I can order a steak cooked MEDIUM and it always absolutely is cooked MEDIUM! Not medium rare or medium well. Plus, the quality of Stockyards's beef is superb. I've eaten at this restaurant for years and have never had a bad meal. Highly recommended.

Really nice place. Interesting, historic, nice Ciwboy and related artwork. Signatures and photos of famous patrons. We had lunch...it was excellent, shaved prime rib, a side--fries or sales etc, gigantic pickle), $15-22. Dinner steaks very pricey, but I assume they are the best ever ($30-65). Wait staff professional, masked.

I love steak. I like my steak black and blue. Stockyards not only delivers, but the one time my steak wasn't perfect, they took it back, no questions asked, and got me a perfect steak. The sides, drinks, and service are equally great. I just love this place.

Great service at the bar. And an amazing, just amazing staff served us dinner. We had a late reservation and we were practically the last ones leaving but we never were aware of this, the staff was so phenomenal, until we walked out and saw the parking lot empty. All food suggestions the waitress made were excellent. If you feel like wineing and dining this is the place to go!

excellent old-time steakhouse. huge comfortable, leather banquettes, great service and amazing steaks. Porterhouse was gigantic. I couldn't finish. the potato special was au gratin that night and it was delicious. creamed spinach with a touch of nutmeg was also great. traditional steakhouse iceberg wedge didn't disappoint, and had olives along with the usual blue cheese (Pt. Reyes) and bacon. good wine list but corkage is only $30 (reasonable for this level of restaurant) as long as it's not already on their list (also fair) for a more formal setting and incredible dry-aged steaks, you can't go wrong here

Superb food and administration. We were welcomed energetically at the front entryway and situated quickly. The bread crate was brought even before we had chosen our courses. Traditional steak house - historical as at the old Legit stockyards! I ve been coming here for years and it never disappoints! Top quality meat and menu items. Wine list & liquor choices conservative to expensive. Attentive professional wait staff and Bar Tenders are knowledgeable and friendly and if you want can suggest beverages that compliment your meal choice. The vibe is Western and Arizona Point of Pride!

The general rule is don't order seafood at a steak house, I wanted something lighter before a flight and had the sea bass. Terrific 👍 clam chowder 👍 Great meal, atmosphere and memorable food. Will return.

The steak was disappointing. Ordered a Delmonico and it was thin, grisly and chewy. Customer service at the bar was fabulous, but dining room staff was blah. We've had a few good meals here in the past, but based on this experience, not likely to go back.

Went here for my birthday celebration with some girl friends and it was excellent. I regularly cook filet mignon at home so my steak standards are high. I ordered the 8oz filet and it was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of marbling. The parmesan potatoes were a server recommendation and they didn't disappoint! Out table of 4 also shared grilled asparagus, mushrooms, green chili mac and cheese, and the filet appetizer. Everything was delicious, hot, and cooked to perfection! The service was excellent as well. They platted our cake for the table, then took it to the back to cut and serve after dinner. They also gave us free dessert to go, which was a nice bonus. It was a leisurely dinner with just enough attention. We never had to ask for anything (refills, more bread, etc.). I also thought the atmosphere was great. I've been to the bougie Scottsdale steakhouses and much prefer the Stockyards' atmosphere for it's more refined but relaxed vibe. Overall, 10 out of 10!

Loved the restaurant, food and service. The ambiance needs a bit of work. My husband and I went there for our anniversary and the inside of the restaurant could use some updating. It wasn’t up to the same ambiance as Flemmings or Morton’s. The inside needs to have some updating for a special occasion dinner. It felt like we were at a very dated, Sun City southwestern dinner. You need to spiff it up a bit. Especially in that part of town.

  • 5/5 L L. 8 months ago on Google
I love the Stockyards. Food and service is always top notch. The decor, however, is incredibly dated. With all the phenomenal local artists there is no reason to have the same tired art on the walls. The wallpaper and carpet need an update as well. The beloved copper doors were replaced, it's time to start working on the interior. If you go, be sure to get the steak soup - it is seriously the most delicious soup I have ever had!

Food was phenomenal. We never make it to dessert, but we forced ourselves because of everything being so good we wanted the full experience. Staff was so friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and offered suggestions. Atmosphere felt retro with a modern twist. Very clean. Would definitely go back when we visit Phoenix.

Each time we are in Phoenix we make sure to go to the Stockyard. The history of the restaurant is interesting. The hand carved bar is beautiful. The atmosphere is casual. The food and service is top notch. We have gone to many NYC steakhouses and the steaks here are on par. Fantastic onion rings and a perfect rib eye.

We made a reservation for dinner on a Saturday night but they were able to get us in much sooner when we showed up early. Our waiter was wonderful. It was our anniversary and he brought out our dessert with a candle on it to celebrate and took pictures for us and gave it to us free as an anniversary present. The food was all excellent and I loved the strawberry Cosmo. The atmosphere was very cool. I'm sure we'll be back for future celebrations.

In town for business and found this excellent place to escape the trip. Our server John had knowledge of the whole menu and guided us with precision. The Bison steaks, New York strip, and Bass were all cooked and seasoned perfectly. We also tried half the appetizers available and were not disappointed. The nostalgic atmosphere makes you feel at home and warm. A must to dine here while in the area.

Showed up around the time the main restaurant stops seating in the main area, so we went into the bar area and had the opportunity to order off the whole menu still. We were looking for more of an appetizer/snack anyway. So we ordered a club and a soup and chili. Customer service was amazing and very friendly. Had a few margaritas and some wine. Great atmosphere and ambiance, and the history of this place is pretty awesome as well! We enjoyed our food, four stars on the food only represents that our food was a more basic dish. The food was still fresh and good.

Over the years, the Stockyards has been a great choice for a good steak at a reasonable price. The service is still great and the atmosphere is still excellent but the quality of the food has slipped. We had a filet with Parmesan potato casserole and salad and a rare prime rib made Stockyards style (reverse seared), onion rings and a salad. The filet was much better than the prime rib. It was cooked to order and reasonably tender. The prime rib on the other hand was well below anything we’d had in prior visits. It was tough and cooked way more than medium. The onion rings were also so tough that the onion pulled off the batter. We’d come to expect better food. And based on what we saw from the tables around us, we weren’t alone.

Stockyards is a classic steakhouse. Where the majority of the market has seemingly moved towards a more posh, 5-star slant, Stockyards almost defiantly sticks to its guns and roots by preserving the western/cowboy styling of the self-proclaimed "Arizona's original steakhouse." It is a little hard to define the Stockyards experience, as it seems to force a juxtaposition of old-fashioned, no-frills saloon and refined American cuisine. The results are mixed. The soup of the day, a wild boar gumbo, was delicious and creative, yet slightly over-salted and served with packaged crackers. The steak was a decent cut and cooked approximately to order but served plain but for the char marks I would prefer to go without. It was improved by the tasty whiskey-peppercorn side sauce, but again over-salting made it hard to fully enjoy. The Citrus Burnt Cream is their version of crème brulée, which is served at nearly every steakhouse in the area, but unfortunately the burnt sugar crust was too thin to give that satisfying first crack and the citrus flavor was hard to detect. Overall, Stockyards offers a particular kind of steakhouse experience that is great if you are looking for an elevated version of a Black Angus or Longhorn Steakhouse, but if you are looking for the fine dining experience offered by many modern steakhouses, you should look elsewhere to find white table cloths and dimlit elegance.
